Our last two visits here have not been the best. Our previous visit when we got home we found one of the fishes has been cooked a 2nd time so was overcooked and dry. Our last visit we had a half cod and standard cod. The half cod was nearly all batter and little fish and the standard cod had soggy batter so was not pleasant to eat. Maybe wrapping in paper doesn't helpâš

Visited Oysters with my partner whilst staying in Braintree looking after our friends pets when they were on holiday. This restaurant was recommended to us and we were not disappointed. We ate in the restaurant next to the take-away and ordered cod, chips, mushy peas, side of onion rings along with a pot of tea for my partner and (as they are licensed) a bottle of beer for me! Our food was cooked fresh to order, very generous sized portions, served piping hot and absolutely delicious. Lovely crispy batter on the fish, with perfectly flaked fish underneath and superb chunky chips. Our server (Bruno) was very polite, friendly and attentive and this added to our experience of dining there. There are toilets available (although you have to climb a flight of stairs) and they were very clean. If you are driving there, you can park in Sainsbury's car park (1 min walk away) for free after 18.00, or it's just ÂŁ1.50 for 2 hours to park during the day. The prices charged are reasonable and we will definitely visit again.

Have been eating here over 26 years the food has always been great. But tonight we ordered a takeaway. We had chicken tikka baltli masala, and a chicken jalfrazi. These were the best meals I have ever eaten there!!! Recommend this gem of restaurant to everyone! Lorraine

We were just out for a drive and thought we would stop here for a sandwich or something. Turns out they have a full lunch menu which looked good. I went with Hake in a pepper and tomato sauce, my wife had a steak with blue cheese on a flatbread. Iâm a big fish lover but wasnât expecting too much from a little place in Royston ! How wrong I was, the Hake was cooked to perfection and the sauce absolutely delicious with some new potatoes this was a really nice and unexpected lunch. My wifeâs steak was also brilliant apparently. This was a very hot day and we sat at an outside table with shade with a lovely view over the Heath. A hidden little gem that is well worth a visit.
