The best restaurants in East of England

The experience started before we even got there. Rang to double check if it was dog friendly and where we could find a copy of the menu online. Yes dog friendly in the bar area and we were messaged a photo of the menu. When we arrived there were no free tables in the bar so because it was still quiet we took the dog into the first table in the dining area. He was made to feel very welcome with a bowl of water and a large bowl of treats. We were also made to feel very welcome and having not eaten Nepalese before we were given a very informed guide to the various items on the menu. Nothing was too much trouble and if we did order something that was maybe not spicy enough it would be taken back to the kitchen and more spice added. This was not necessary and following advice we ordered and had a fantastic meal. The food was gorgeous and the service exceptional.

The carvery was excellent just like old times with plenty of everything and good service. There were different of us and we did not have to wait would recommend.

A fabulous time at The Real Greek in Braintree Village. Great food. Great drink. Great company and great staff. Thank you. We'll be back. Thank you Ellie.

Food was amazing. Service was hit and miss. We had to wait 20 min for the waiter to bring the dessert menu. I asked for penne aribieta to be made slightly hotter and they chargered me £1.75 for 1 extra chilli. There was a speaker right above my head and was so loud I could not hear my wife speak. I had to ask for the volume to be reduced. Cocktails were nice but small portions compared to other venues and the cost. They don’t take Amex so for business lunches hard to expense. When we left no one said bye.

We've been coming here for many years when ever we visit Clacton. What a great find. We usually visit before going to a show at the also excellent West Cliff theatre. The fish is always top quality and cooked to perfection along with crispy chips with fluffy centers. All enhanced by a bottle of white wine served in an ice bucket. The restaurant has recently been beautifully refurbished and is spotless including the toilet. Staff charming and it's nice to be recognised and have a little chat. What's not to like! A lovely Sunday lunch in a proper Pub, Staff are fantastic, service is top class, and the Lamb dinner was superb. My partner had the Brownie Sundae for dessert, and I went for a Guinness. Will be back again in the not too distant.

Sunday lunch today was superb. All the food tasted great, staff friendly and a nice atmosphere. This was my first visit, but definitely not my last. Will definitely visit again.

Great fish and chips for lunch!

We have had many many takeaways from Surma and one 1 occasion when it was not up to standard the meal was replaced without a grumble WE would recommend this Indian to all from the moment you call to delivery All the people are amazing

What a wonderful cafe in the middle of Wroxham. Cannot speak highly enough of the fabulous service we received at Number 14 today. The waitress was super friendly and attentive, a credit to the cafe. The food was superb, lots of freshly prepared light bite options and our food was delicious. The portions were generous and so reasonably priced too. We couldn’t fault a thing. When we come back to Wroxham we will certainly be paying you another visit. Highly recommend Number 14.

We had the most delightful time at Buttercups! It was a cold windy day and we just fancied a nice spot of lunch. The service was great, very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious! If you want a cosy cafe with heaps of good vibes and great food, this is the one for you. Thank you to everyone at Buttercups for making our lunch so lovely!

Attended for a meal. There were tables not cleared and been like it for a while, even though the place was not busy. Service very slow, cleared table before everyone had finished their meal and asked if dessert menus required when people still eating. Not able to provide change when paid cash and still added 10% service charge. Very poor and would not recommend even though food was very nice
