Ate in the restaurant on Sunday just gone, a bigger group of us so spread over two booths. Best fish and chips I've had in years. Really excellent. Shame I live 180 miles away. Cheers!

Food here is delicious chips amazing very reasonably priced nice big portions and not long wait. Best staff ever we ate are meal in restaurant and when went to pay I had left my card at home they just said don't worry come back and pay later which we did. They were so amazing 👏 thank u

My family and I visited Geo's fishbar after a visit to Clacton, I must say it certainly didn't disappoint. We sat in the restaurant, staff were friendly and attentive, and the food was outstanding. Welldone to all involved in this lovely business.

Its a bit over rated and over priced but i would get some chips if i was hungry..

This is one of the worst fish and chips shop in Clacton. Their services is disaster and food quality is worst too. It was my first time in this restaurant and it was last time too because they don’t know how to give good customer services at all. Food was quite expensive then other fish and chips shop in Clacton. The amount of money I paid to them then if I could buy same portion from other restaurants then I could save £5 more . I am not worried about money but I always make sure that I get services. Food wasn’t cook well and portion was small too but they need more training how to talk to the customer. There were 2 guys and one girl and all of them were staring on me and talking nonsense and also at the same time they were laughing so loudly . One of the guy was a bit rude for nothing . I won’t recommend to go there. Don’t waste your money here. There are a lot of other fish and chips restaurants in Clacton and they are good. Reply to the owner : You are an arrogant owner. Instead of apology you are defending. I’m not a drunk person that I will give review without knowing your business. It doesn’t matter you have a girl staff or not but there was a girl behind your till. You are saying that staff has more then 5 years experience but your staff services zero. Mate instead of arguing focus on improving service. When customer enter in your premises your staff should approach them and also while customer leave. Your staff faces is grumpy always.

I visited Geo's yesterday for lunch with my auntie, we were served by Bradley (mainly) and Matt from the back. They were both so lovely and Bradley was especially kind, he really brightened up our day....plus the fish was delish!!

I am a big fan of fish and chips and I have eaten many establishments over the years. I came across Geo fish bar and have ate there on more than one occasion. Excellent food good quality eaten and takeaway very clean facilities staff really polite and helpful. Would highly recommend good for the family.

Worse fish and chips I ever had,very rude stuff, me and my girlfriend end up in the hospital with food poison, be careful what you eating I don't think the cod they sell is cod,you can tell by the texture so be careful.....

Used to serve lovely chips, soft and yet still crispy. But now they're huge chunky and chewy.. such a shame. Great service though. Lovely staff.

Appalling service, had to wait over twenty minutes for three portions of chips!! While I was waiting, another customer came in and was served immediatly, I had to wait another five minutes? When asked what the problem was, the "couldn't care less" server just shrugged his shoulders and said they would be ready in a few minutes. It is no wonder people are avoiding this Fish and Fish shop in their droves.

What a fantastic place, me an my mum stumbled across this beautiful chippy today an got fantastic service along with amazing food. We both had a kids meal an it was sufficient enough for us. Mum had fishcake an chips and I had popcorn chicken an chips and was delicious. Thank you for a wonderful meal and conversation. We will return to try out different food options.

Been coming to Geo’s for over 15 years when we holiday at Clacton on Sea. Upon arrival we Felt extremely rushed to order and hardly saw the waitress again until the bill was presented. The quality has really fallen . Our bottoms hadn’t time to warm the chairs before we were asked what we wanted . We had Skate & Chips & Cod & Chips . We also ordered two draft beers. The beers tasted like they had been watered down. The fish was overcooked & the quality seems to have fallen despite the prices being increased. Doubt we will be frequenting Geo’s ever again when we holiday at Clacton. After the bill was presented we still gave the usual 20% tip totalling £50.00 but the waitress never even returned so we ended up giving the bill and the tip to the fish fryer. With reference to your questions , The date was Friday the 13th September 2024 @ about 6pm. The waitress never gave her name & I never asked . Kind Regards, Geoff & Becky

Quick service, really tasty food...and lots of it!

TERRIBLE. Food was literally tasteless,the fish batter tasted like plain fried flour and the fish itself wasn't flaky.Waitress was also extremely rude. Avoid,much better fish and chips close by.

Great traditional fish and chips. We ordered medium haddock - it was large plus a mini portion on the same plate. Plaice was fried to perfection all cooked fresh. Much enjoyed - I will certainly return.

The fish was a disaster.... It tasted like minced fish, no flavor, no spices, lots of breading. I don't recommend this place. £2 for 2 tiny sauces 🤣🫣 Service as if they were working as punishment...

I feel conflicted as it used to be brilliant pre-COVID. Ever since it has been a game of roulette when getting fish and chips here, sometimes you'll have the best you've ever eaten, others you will be eating cardboard. Service here is the only thing which has not changed where they are all wonderful people

Walked in greeted by a really bubbly lady and friendly male the food was delicious but to many chips but that didn't bother me would highly recommend and will definitely come again next time on holiday

I can honestly say this was Rock and Chips I have eaten it was absolutely perfect and it was cooked to perfection beautiful white fish and lovely batter and lovely chips and very big portions .

We came down for a day trip to Clacton and as unfamiliar with area googled for a good fish and chip restaurant. We decided to try yours as was highly recommended which we passed onto our waitress as we sat down.We both ordered the cod special at £14.95 each with baked beans as an extra for one of us.Unfortunately when it arrived although it looked lovely I was very disappointed at the actual size of fish inside the batter.I brought it to the attention of the waitress and she very kindly changed it.However our teas were a different matter,when we had drunk our teas we both looked inside our mugs and there was a dreadful mess left inside and it looked like scum around the inside of both mugs.Again I brought it to the attention of your staff,it was a man clearing the tables and said I think you may need to do something about your tea he looked at me and asked me what the problem was after I showed him both the mugs and he asked us what he was looking at,I showed him the inside of the mugs and his reply was "We use PG Tips tea bags".I have never drunk a cup of tea before and had remains like we had today.Unfortunately our experience today did not live up to your reviews.

Popular local fish and chips shop in the centre of Clacton-on-Sea in a busy shopping parade located next to Lloyds bank. The shop is popular with visitors. After being seated you are promptly presented with a menu. The fish is extremely fresh and crispy with the chips well done with a cup of tea. Although the surroundings are slightly dated you can spend a peaceful 30 minutes to yourself.

Great Fish, nice thin batter, chunky fish flakes. Chips are huge. 2 is enough for a family of 4. It has a restaurant, but we were on a budget. There are a few tables inside the shop. Watch out for gulls outside.

First time here at Geo’s and it didn’t disappoint. We were shown to our table and it was fairly busy. I’ve lived in Clacton for just over 8 years now and for some reason unbeknown to me I hadn’t tried this establishment. What a treat I had missed. The food was absolutely to die for and decent portion sizes too. I had the haddock, chips and curry sauce my friend had the half cod and chips with for me a decent cup of tea and my friend a nice coffee. We were looked after by 2 lovely ladies Mandy and Kyra who made sure we wanted for nothing, they were so attentive and as soon as a table was empty it was cleared away and disinfected ready for the next customer. A good sign of a good establishment. Will definitely be back. Thoroughly enjoyable.

As I live in one of the most inland planes in the country I make a point of having a chippy whenever I'm by the sea. So I've had a lot. This is by far one of the best fish and chips I've had. A very healthy piece of cod, very meaty. A lovely light crist batter. Good chips. A real winner. It's a touch pricier than usual but you do get what you pay for. My other half has a much smaller appetite so she had the half cod and chips and it was still a really decent portion and the good end of the fillet used so still really meaty. She couldn't even finish it. Good job I was on hand. The staff were friendly and the service was nice and swift. It has a lovely nostalgia to it, it feels like a proper old school chippy but it's still very clean and well maintained. If you're in the area it's well worth a visit.

Yesterday I went to the beach to look for lunch. I searched Google and followed the directions and came to Geo's fishbar. After eating, I felt that it was really good value for money and good value for money. The fries were fresh and the fried fish was crispy and soft. The store was very neat and clean. Thank you. This store provides everyone with good taste, and I will come again.

Good traditional freshly cooked food, been going for over 12 years. Although it changed owners last year the food is still great, there is also a small bar.

I came an ordered some food on a rainy day to sit in the car down the seafront with my family, I ordered a large chips £4.30 1 large battered sausage £2.50 1 large plain sausage £2.50 and a savaloy £2.50 2 buttered rolls £1 each and a curry sauce £1.60, Now I know a lot of places have raised they’re prices which is understandable but to charge me £4.30 for a large chips and then give me a portion the size of a small is just ridiculous, the price wouldn’t be so bad if portion size was actually correct, and for the buttered rolls an absolute rip off of £1 each look like they’ve been sitting out for weeks !!!! Can safely say as someone who lives in the area I will not be using them again in the future

Dripping with thick greasy oil, one mouthful then put it in the bin. Not very good for adults especially for children. Will not return.

Sat in the restaurant, had large rock n chips x2 also 2 cups of tea and a wally. The food was nice, and the service was good. I have not sat in the restaurant for some time and realised why £33 for my food. I'm not knocking the shop for its food or service, just highlighting the cost.

The Wife and I popped into Clacton Town and did a bit of shopping. Then decided to have something to eat, so headed straight for Geo's as it's the best in town, we had a smashing meal ( Cod and chips, slice of bread and hot drink £13.95 each ) absolutely beautiful, I highly recommend Geo's and have been there many times. They never disappoint, good food, good service what more could you ask for.

Been here once before & we were impressed with the taste & quality of the fish & chips. So our expectations were high on our second visit only to be disappointed. The fish was greasy & not much fish, just batter. The chips & mushy peas were okay though. If in the area again we will give this place a miss.

Great place to stop by for fish and chips with a cuppa tea. I had the skate cooked to perfection. My mate had cod. We had bread and butter too. The service was excellent. The toilets are up a steep set of stairs.

Very busy, nice atmosphere. Friendly staff and good service. There were three of us, and we were very lucky to get a table. You can book a table and pre-order your food, which a lot of people had done! It was our first time here, and we are going to make it our go to Fish and Chip shop! I was delighted to see my favourites on the menu and our Northern Friend found his too. There is something to please everyone here!

I can honestly say that this is the best fish and chips in clacton. The staff are so friendly and you don't have to wait ages for your meal. Service is quick. You can get a beer or a cuppa. Highly recommended.

Absolutely brilliant experience! Went there today and had the best fish and scampi we had ever tasted. The portions were large, food was fresh and sauce was generously provided. The service from Peter and his colleagues Frankie and Mandy, was 10/10, as was the food. We even went back later in the day for dessert. Thoroughly recommend this establishment for delicious food and excellent service, it made our trip to Clacton really special. We had a first class welcome and dining experience from start to finish!
