Unassuming on the outside but amazing authentic Thai food inside. Reasonably priced, generous portions and ingredients and true, fragrant spice to the food. Highly recommend the jungle curry and the duck salad - flavourful and fresh. It is a small venue so if in large group I would recommend to book a table in advance. Corkage fee for BYO. Staff are friendly and attentive

Food was very average but the service was amazing !! Drinks menu very limited also. The space was very limited and not very well presented

Good restaurant, If you have allergies they may not be able support due to using same oil for multiple foods. You can take your own drink

Reasonable priced restaurant but food is not tasty! Dishes are far away from authentic Thai food, suggest chef should put more effort in cooking proper Thai food!

This is a great restaurant. We have visited many times and we'll go time and time again. The staff are lovely and it is great value.

Don't go to many Thai restaurants and I feel like any i go to in the future will struggle to beat this place. Food and service was amazing. I ended up ordering the same meal I just ate as a takeaway ...don't judge me...I don't live round here and it was genuinely that good!

May24- small friendly place. Fri night noise from a large table by the door Speedy service and food tastes freshly made. Shall have to go back to try other dishes as mains we had were non-descript (mee sua and a yellow chicken curry) although loved the Thai fish cakes - flavoursome. They bring over fresh orange slices at end which was a pleasant surprise. We paid £20 pp for shared starter, and one main each with soft drinks.

Just the best food I’ve ever eaten. And I eat a lot of food. The staff here are so nice, and polite. The atmosphere is so nice as well, feels like I’m transported to Thailand HAHAHHA We ordered the pad Thai, red curry, and see crong yang (spare ribs). Literally the most amazing food. As soon as you walk through the door you can smell the amazing aromas and it’s phenomenal. If this place ever closes down I will cease to exist. Thanks

Delicious food! I've tried the sweet and sour prawns and the Thai green curry. Omg - beautiful. Found my new lunch spot. Heaven with every mouthful! Definitely recommend. Lovely decor gives an authentic feel. Look forward to trying the rest of your menu.

Another great meal here. Quick and efficient service, great food, and very good value. You can bring your own wine, which does keep the cost down. I can honestly say the best Thai food I have had 💯 I can't remember the names of the dishes, but I will pinch them from the menu!!! Starters: Peek Gai Yad Sai - Boneless stuffed Chicken Wings Mains: Goong Ob Mordin - King Prawn, glass noodles, Spring Onions Khoa Pad Kai - Stir fry rice, egg, and peas Gang Phed Ped Yang - Duck curry with coconut milk pineapple tomato and basil leaves I am not a spice person I do like a little but not alot, the duck curry had one 🌶 so thought I was safe but I wasn't, I now know one 🌶 is just over my level in a Thai Restaurant. Saying this, I could t stop eating it. The duck curry was soooo tasty I couldn't get enough of it. My sweaty forhead and over all red glow were trying to put me off at the time 🤣 The rice alone was really good, the king Prawn dish as fresh with plenty of veg, plenty of Prawns and a great flavour. Starters were good. I didn't really get the whole stuffed part other than no bones. There was a light brown sauce, which was good and the dish was easy to eat and the sauce helped this a lot. Overall, if you are in this areas check it out and tell me I am wrong, I went in on Tues night, and there was a queue for a table that will always say alot about a place

We loved our meal here! It’s a small authentic restaurant offering delicious Thai food that is well priced for St Albans. We had a couple of starters (salad was v. spicy) and curries for mains. Portions were generous, service was lovely and above all, the food was great. We’ll be back soon.

Spontaneously decided to drop in for “dinner for one”, since my dinner date had to stay home. The food was amazing and very authentic and probably the best Thai food I’ve had in a restaurant outside of Thailand. It’s made with love and there is no holding back with flavor and portion sizes. It makes the experience even better because they are truly there to serve good food and fill you up! I ordered the stuffed chicken wings and an order of the glazed ribs as a starter and for main I ordered spicy noodles with prawn. I was also served a basket with shrimp crackers and some chili oil and that was a nice touch. The service was very very good and I will definitely be returning next time I visit St.Albans! I brought some Tom Ga Kai back home for the sick husband and he really enjoyed it piping hot as it came. Thank you and please don’t change much till next time!

Yet another great meal. The food is always fresh and tasty. The service is extremely quick. Can recommend chicken satay starter and sea bass fillets in tamarind sauce. The staff are charming and efficient. We have visited every 2/3 weeks for the last 20 years!

Rather bland thai meal - definitely cost cutting on their set menu. Very mid level thai. Starters oily , main lacks interesting choice of veggies. Nice service , drinks reasonable price.

I visited this restaurant last week with a group of friends, had never heard of it before. Just a line to say how marvellous the food was, absolutely delicious! Friendly staff. Although there is no licence to sell alcohol you are welcome to take your own for a small corkage charge. It was so good I took another friend yesterday- just as good! In my opinion the best Thai food in St Albans. Food is good, price reasonable, staff are welcoming and town centre location. No parking outside so you need to find your own parking and walk up the high street passing all the interesting shops. Highly recommend this place.

Food is fantastic, fresh and very good price. Staff super friendly. Restaurant used to be BYO and although it now has a licence we still get away with taking our own wine for a very modest corkage. Far better than any other restaurant in the area. We go every few months.

Maybe for someone who has a sweet tooth but definitely not for me, can’t taste any flavour other than sweetness in the Pad Thai, even tho I put soy sauce, double amount of chilli oil and vinegar, still can’t get rid of the sweetness. Had to leave it in the end although I don’t like waste food.

Food n price were good. Service was good but would be better if they came back to see if all is well and anything more we would like.

Crispy duck with tiny bones in, dry chicken satay, flavourless and stodgy pad Thai. My wife said the her dish was “adequate” not what you expect for a £50 Friday night delivery. We will stick to Osmins, far superior, cheaper and no delivery charges either.

Been waiting for two hours for delivery via Uber eats. Restaurant blame Uber for no delivery and instruct us to take up with Uber. Uber say they turned up to restaurant and order wasn’t there. Despite complaints and pleading restaurant to fulfil order. No food. Updated from 1 star to 3 Restaurant did follow up having tried to resolve with Uber. I get impression Uber have let them down on this. I’ve still got no food. But appreciate restaurant did everything they could to fix

Really nice meal last night. It's a cozy place and they brought out prawn crackers while we waited for our starters which was a lovely touch. The food was amaaaazing. We both chose spicy meals (medium and spicy) and wow, they were just that! Loved every bite and we will definitely be back! A great place for a date night, a solo meal, or a small gathering if you book ahead.

I was back at Bua Thai, after three years, and the cuisine was still delicious. Simply my favourite Thai restaurant.

Placed an order on uber eats and have now been waiting an hour. When I called the restaurant they blamed the driver for picking up the wrong delivery but surely the restaurant should check the driver is taking the correct order as well!

Tasty food and quick and good service. Will visit again. On par with Bhan Thai at Potters Bar.

Had a great value tasty lunch and enjoyed it so much I went back for lunch again the next day. Although I arrived just before close and I was the only customer they happily served me.

Sirloin steak... Not even sirloin... Not samthink that u can eat.... Soo... I had the soup.. Nice soup... ... Sirloin... After I refuze to eat sirloin... I worder pork ribs... Not bad... And a Coca-Cola... I ender to pai 45 pounds for this... U tel me way???... I pay nice and left the restaurant... Never go back. Ps. I m a sheff. And I know haw u shood treat your clients... Great Thai food at a reasonable price.

Amazing food, fairly priced and lovely service. Even gave us a complimentary beer as a congratulations when we told them we were out celebrating with our cousin Jack Moseley after he passed his geography exam! Would recommend.

I have been a frequent visitor to Thailand over many years. I believe that this is the best Thai restaurant in St Albans. The food is extremely authentic and excellent value for money. The service we received was polite and friendly. If you like Thai food then I recommend this restaurant.

The food at Bua Thai is excellent across the board. I have visited repeatedly over the course of years and it has never been less than brilliant. The value for money is also great and during lunch hours its a great way to save and have great food. The curries are great, as are the noodles. Good service always. Highly recommend!

I have been playing in an International Tennis tournament at Welwyn Garden City. Called in for a green Thai curry with boiled rice. The meal was excellent. I also had the house white wine which I enjoyed very much. The Thai people are lovely though they are struggling a bit with our language. The restaurant is basic but authentic. I will definitely visit again next year.

Cosy restaurant with large menu, inc plenty of veggie dishes, and lovely staff.

As a former central London restauranteur I loathe having to do this but it is a very serious matter and must be acted on. We had five out of five for food hygiene, have worked with Michelin star chefs and have guest judged on Masterchef The Professionals, twice. No word of a lie so take this professionally in earnest at that level!! Last night at approximately 7.45 I ordered two dishes via Uber Eats. The chicken satay and the duck. After a rotten nights sleep of cold sweats, I awoke to be violently sick with repeat bouts of diarrhoea. Everything in the toilet bowl was the Thai meal. I am away from home working and was due to leave earlier this morning for Somerset to join my family for Mother’s Day but instead I am lying on my back with clear food poisoning in a hotel bed Miles from home . Disgraceful. Have reported to Uber Eats.

I made a mistake on my order through Uber eats and it said on there help line to reach out to the restaurant, they were so unhelpful they would not let me add one item to the order even though they new which order it was so I had to reorder that item separately. It would not have taken much to add this item to the order and taken the payment over the phone, maybe I try i different Thai next time which is a shame as the food is good, maybe the staff need to be more helpful in the future as we have supported them for many years now.

Authentic great food at great value. (i.e. portions were of a good size.) All the dishes were great. We had duck, chicken fried rice, prawn pad thai. (Our friends , I think, had some sticky rice, chicken pad thai, chicken wings, fish, pad thai, soup.)...

After reading the reviews it sounded like a great place to eat but alas it was not. Pad Thai was greasy with no flavour and served on a cold plate. Prawn starter was over cooked making it chewy and the chicken satay was dry. Maybe we got unlucky due to how busy it was but I won't be going back

Absolutely delicious food, wonderful atmosphere very relaxing and intimate, beautiful decor and happy, friendly, helpful staff! We visited on a busy Saturday night and we were still served in perfect time and had a glorious three course meal!

Bua Thai is located in the centre of St Albans. With Covid we decided to get a take away rather than eat in. Ordering by phone was easy and the food is ready to collect in 20 minutes. The lady on the phone was friendly...

Appallingly over priced food, very clearly deceiving customers. I called the restaurant, giving them an opportunity to rectify however all I got was a refusal to do anything after paying £15.95 for crispy duck for two and receiving a small foil container with a ridiculously small amount of duck. A real shame to be taken advantage of without the restaurant wanting to fix it.

Great Place, basic decor but fab food. Been going for 20+ years and still love it

Having dined in more than a dozen times, we had our first delivery (ordered on line just after noon). The aromatic duck for TWO at £15.95 was atrocious. The carton was less than half full, with what we thought was hardly sufficient duck for one...

Very disappointed … placed an order with UberEats and the two main courses for my children were not with the order. When I phoned I was told “oh yes I forgot them sorry but the manager is not in so I can do nothing “ . I tried to contact UberEats to sort but they only have email contact, so the meal was wasted as mine was cold and then had to cook instead. So much for a relaxing evening!!! I know mistakes can happen but when they happen you need to sort them out !!

Best thai in St Albans hands down! I’ve tried them all and honestly this is by far the best. Thai Sq is second - but Bua Thai is tastier, waaaaay better priced, better veggie options and not a chain.
