This restaurant gets better and better , the penang curry is so tasty , the staff are so attentive and always remember you

We visited last Saturday. It was busy and atmosphere was great . Authentic Thai food and great service. Chef personally came and asked us about our food and service which was great. Ordered steamed prawn and Tom yum soup. It was nice and spicy. For main we had kra praw chicken , green curry beef and pad thai prawn. It was so good that we ordered a takeaway again last night. We thoroughly enjoyed our food. Definitely coming back soon.

The rice was a block you could pick it up and drop it and it was still stuck together the Tom yung soup was really spicy and the pad Thai was tasted Spaulding we called the restaurant and explained how the food wasn’t pleasing any the waiter was not interested

Delicious food, good lunchtime offer

Absolute gem in Harpenden for casual or business dining. Food is fresh from the oven, full of authentic aroma has your mouth salivating. Very polite and friendly staffs, owner personally ensures guests are having a great time. Price is reasonable and the portion size is quite big. One of my favourite places for eating out.

Thai food at its best! The atmosphere and service are excellent!! We ordered the Thai spice level of the Panang chicken curry - was extremely flavourful - the most authentic we have tasted outside of Thailand. Ended the meal with Coconut Supreme - delicious creamy Coconut ice cream!!

Lovely meal at the Bangkok Lounge. Very friendly staff and the food was amazing. Highly recommend the Weeping Tiger beef and the Panang Chicken Curry. Update December 2023: Still a great restaurant with excellent food and service. Highly recommended.

Delicious Thai food, bursting with authentic ingredients and flavours. Great selection of starters to start of the meal, king prawns were huge! Mains were equally delicious and good size portions. Restaurant atmosphere was a warm and friendly place to dine in. Will be coming back again!

Very disappointing blind tasteless small portions

I cannot believe we had not been to this restaurant despite being in Harpenden for over a year. This is by far the best Thai restaurant in Hertfordshire. The food was delicious and the flavours were exquisite. More so the owners are such lovely down to earth people. So welcoming and friendly, just like family. Thank you Motin and Shah for your hospitality. You were so thoughtful and caring towards our three children and this is so rare to see. As my son says this is now his no.1 most favourite restaurant :-)

Quality is quite bad. I’ve ordered (GAENG KAOW) ,(Pad Thai, ) (Green curry) I’m disappointed never will order from them anymore! Pad Thai and green curry on the bin 🗑️ inedible. Waste money! Huge bonus for giggling squid at Harpenden area the best Thai food so far.

So I had never been to Harpenden & decided to head here for a dinner (not by myself). From the moment I walked in, the staff were attentive, service was brilliant & the food was delicious. We were lucky enough to meet the owner who was extremely friendly & gave us excellent insights into the menu. Great food, great people, great vibe. We will be back.

Great Thai restaurant. Food was amazing and Motin and his staff were so attentive and helpful. He suggested various dishes between us so we could try each dish. Prices were very reasonable for Harpenden and service charge was discretionary as it should be but it was richly deserved. Thank-you Motin, and please thank your staff for a lovely evening. We will be back soon.

We found this place on Google as we were near to Harpenden and fancied Thai food (this was our very first visit). We went based on other google reviews and the reviews were great. I agree with the others, this place is really nice! The food and ambience was good but above all, the service was just amazing, it was just on point. The starters were super tasty however I did find my Thai green curry a bit too sweet even though I asked for it to be spicy so I let the owner know when he asked how the food was at the end. He immediately said that he could make the food how we wanted next time which I thought was super accommodating. Although we are a little far from Harpenden, I’ll certainly be visiting here again. If you’re in the area and you fancy Thai food, you won’t be disappointed.

Bangkok lounge in Harpenden is a true gem! Having recently returned from our honeymoon in Thailand we were in need of some authentic Thai food, Bangkok lounge did not disappoint. Very friendly, happy, welcoming staff and delicious Thai food.

Bangkok Lounge is an authentic Thai Restaurant and Takeaway in High Street, Harpenden. We were guests of my daughter and new son in law who had just come back from their honeymoon in Thailand and wanted us to experience a genuine Thai meal. The food was delicious, the staff are professional and friendly and I would definitely recommend the Bangkok Lounge following our visit.

First time in this place and already love it. From my experience great selection of Thai food, good wine. Cozy Atmosphere, bit vintage but it’s ok. Staff is super friendly, polite and helpful. They give prawns crackers as welcome, get your coats if necessary. Had starter, main and dessert. great highly recommended.

First time eating here I liked the food and flavours. The service was good and I opted for the set menu option A at £24.95 a head which for a starter & main for two people I felt was a bit pricey. Especially when you include in a tip and 1 alcoholic drink each. Total bill came to £70 for the night

Nice food and great service but honestly, £6.95 for a small plate of noodles? I thought that was some kind of joke!

Went first time with my boyfriend for a dinner. The food especially both soups and mango sticky rice where great. The mains we had was jungle curry and sweet and sour chicken and these could improve a little in terms of a taste. The chicken was a bit to sour for my taste but plus for a fresh pineapple not from a can. In terms of price it was OK but as a lover of Thai food I know you can eat similar dishes with better or similar flavours for cheaper in other places but I assume the price could be due to location. The service was amazing, all the staff very friendly and try to find a time for a quick chat even in the busyes times.

My wife and I came to Bangkok lounge for a date night dinner, amazing warm welcoming staff, a lovely ambiance inside, the owner even came to say hello and greet us. And as for the food just Wow! Honestly amazing authentic and the tastiest Thai food I’ve had in forever. The great thing about this place is the meat is Halal which helps massively. I cannot recommend this place enough ! 10/10

A very authentic Thai food! I went to celebrate my husband’s birthday and we had a great time there. Best green curry I had in England made from scratch! Plus service was spot on. Highly recommend it and would definitely come back!

Parking restrictions apply, small dine in place, food is tasty but portion sizes are small, lunch menu is £15 per person and the starter options aren't great and the desert option is limited to just banana and pineapple fritters. Service was good but it's not great value for money.

When it comes to service, the team here are up there with the best. They're warm, welcoming and have such an upbeat attitude. I thoroughly enjoy the food here too- ive eaten in and had takeaways, doesn't disappoint! Generous portion sizes and fairly priced. If you live local id be suprised if you haven't given this place a try!

Excellent Thai with free local delivery. Much better flavours than the “laughing octopus “ and much better value .

We regularly have Thai here because they're great with gluten free options. Our curries and tom yum soup were made from scratch with real ingredients as opposed to only paste/powder). We love the green curry and the red butternut squash curry.

Sorry but no. I had a horrible soup, I tried for first time I Thailand, it was sweet and thick, and we didn't eat eat it. Please, do not try to defend the soup by telling me it depends of what coconut milk you use. I had this many times before... In Thailand Beef basil and curry fine. Beef was pretty good but then you serve us dessert that was a green, green, Banana fritters... My surprise, when I see you offered me some crackers and CHARGE ME for those and the soup I didn't eat and the dessert you should not be serving as you are going to get someone sick.

The food was great and the service excellent - I am already planning my next visit. I think it was good value for what I had, which was the lunchtime special with a beer that all came to less than twenty quid!

We read the reviews and thought we’d try the place out. The waiters were all very friendly but the service was incredibly slow! We felt like we waited 30mins for our starters to be cleared away (don’t bother with the veg platter, it wasn’t good and we left most of it which is perhaps why they thought we weren’t finished). Mains were OK but the tofu was inedible. There are better places to go for Thai in our opinion.

I travel with work and I'm a serious FOODIE! See my other review's. So after being greeted by the owner who was friendly, well mannered and curtious. I ordered ever popular dishes chicken Green Thai Curry, chicken Panang Curry and Coconut rice. These have obviously been cooked by a talented chef with a good understanding of balancing spices although I prefer mine with more heat. The chicken is obviously pre prepared as it's slightly tough and lacking the depths of flavours in each of the main courses. Coconut rice is very very lightly seasoned with coconut and if I hadn't ordered it I'd probably think it's plain rice. Overall a very friendly restaurant giving a nice introduction to Thai food.

Tried it for the first time. Tom Yum Soup was 5 stars 🌟 but was very spicy. I would ask for a mild option next time good customer service 👌🏿

A good local Thai, with the old favourites. It could do with extending its reach a little and delving deeper into the rich depths of Thai cuisine... maybe specials each month. Some variety would definitely encourage to revisit more frequently.

Great food with friendly, courteous service. Love the sweetcorn cakes, veggie satay, green curry and tom Kha. Will adapt the spice levels too.

The best Thai food ever in england

Very nice food. Friendly service. Very safe.

If I could give -1 star I would. Ordered nearly £70 of food for delivery at 20.20 and told it would be 50 mins to an hour wait. Now nearly 2 hours later and we haven’t got our food and starving hungry. Tried ringing multiple times for the last 40 mins and no one is picking up. Ruined our Saturday night and wasted a lot of money.

Safest I have felt in a restaurant. Whilst still maintaining an atmosphere. Temperature taken, screens in place. Food and staff excellent.

We were hungrey and our friend had been here before, so we went in and all social distancing were in place.We ordered starters and a 4 main dishes 2 of the dishes were penang curry and when ever I see Masseman curry I always have it, I can say without doubt this was by far the best I have eaten and the rest was fab.the staff we met were Abdul and Shah, they were so good very good and attentive to all our needs. such a shame we live in Devon but next time I will visit again

Loved every curry i've tried here. Always nice and spicy too - if you don't like spice then they would probably be too spicy for you as definitely spicier than everywhere else. But if you like spice then you will love!

Always delicious food and in these socially distanced times this is complemented by efficient ordering and collection process. A delivery option is available but I wanted a walk to get my step count up. Looking forward to returning when normal service in society has been resumed

Made a big mistake by relying on the reviews, everything tasted the same, overpriced, inedible and poor quality. I chucked it in the bin and drove to my usual, Thai Cottage in Berkhamsted, fantastic every time and authentic.Don’t bother replying to my review Bangkok Lounge, I’ll ever return or recommend.

The best Thai food I’ve ever had and very polite staff.

We had a takeaway for my husband’s birthday yesterday. We really enjoyed the meal. Starter crispy duck was very delicious. As a main we ordered prawn pad thai, red curry with duck and sirlion grilled steak and rice. All were so fresh and tasty. Very happy about the order. Definitely will do again.

lovely food friendly staff well worth a visit

Nicely decorated, warm and inviting. Unfortunately, the lady serving us never managed a smile, which must be nearly unique in a Thai restaurant - Thailand itself being called 'The Land of Smiles.' Starters of chicken satay and a coconut soup were enjoyable, but were followed by gaeng keow wan (Thai green curry) which bore little resemblance in flavour to those in Thailand or those at other Thai restaurants in the UK or those that my Thai wife prepared for me. When booking - several days in advance - we had been asked for any special requests, and had requested fresh mangoes for dessert. A restaurant wishing to please its customers would either have acquired the necessary mangoes or, failing that, explained that they had not been able to obtain any. But our request was not mentioned. If they cannot be bothered, why should we bother to go there again?

We have been to this Thai restaurant a few times now, once on our own and at other times with family and friends. We've taken my elderly mother and her sensitive digestive system with us and she has not only thoroughly enjoyed her dish but suffered no ill effects! She now prefers Thai food over Chinese. The menu is interesting and everything arrives at the table piping hot. (Except desserts, of course!) The service is very polite and attentive. It can get very busy at weekends so would advise booking.

A lovely restaurant! Thought it would be too quiet, but was busy on a Thursday night. After tasting the food, even if the restaurant is quiet would definitely go again! The staff were attentive and took time to explain those dishes that were suitable for vegetarians (the curries contain fish sauce) but plenty of other choices on the menu for veggies! Great food in a lovely atmosphere. Unfussy efficient friendly service

Loved the quality of the dishes in this place. We had the mixed starters and duck roll starters which were delicious. The mains were all lovely with steamed rice and egg fried rice. Small and cosy. Reasonably priced. Definitely recommend.

We had a meal here after recommendations from a friend. The service was lovely with the staff being really friendly. The food was really nice too, the mixed started for 2 and jungle curry our favourites. The only reason, we have given 4 stars instead of 5 is because the Jasmine rice was a little stodgy and we feel it could have been better. However, this is only a small problem as overall the food and service was great

A small Thai restaurant on the High Street in Harpenden. Staff are friendly and helpful and very attentive. The food is delicious and not badly priced with just the right mount being served per person. Would recommend this place and I look forward to returning.

We were really looking forward to a nice tasty Thai meal whilst visiting friends but what we received was far from that. Have purchased ready meals in major supermarkets with far more taste and content. My Khing consisted of a few vegetables in what can only be described as a very watery salty thin sauce, no way near the yellow bean paste as on the menu. The chicken in my husbands meal consisted of seven very small tasteless chunks. Likewise the other meals were not very poor on both taste and content. Value for money on takeaway meals this place is not!

Beautiful scenery, very good food

Amazing service, very tasty food and great ambience. The waiter said whether we were vegetarian and we said yes. He mentioned most of the Thai dishes are cooked with fish and Prawns to give texture to the sauce. He offered us dishes which were vegan/vegetarian. Very thoughtful. He also clearly explained the ingredients of each dish so that we knew what we were eating. The wine was amazing. I would definitely come here again and recommend it to friends and family. Only gripe is the prices were slightly dear but you get what you pay and in this case, we received great service, very tasty food and great ambience.

Not a terribly huge place, but after an extremely disappointing recent experience from another pub/restaurant, this place had charm and style in spades! Lovely service & great food. What else would you want?

People in Harpenden are relatively affluent and have good taste. To be a local restaurant that has survived for this long it needs to have that, and it does. I like how the main lady serving remembers her customers. The decor is also a great, made out of real thick wood and not done on the cheap. The food is superb, the lamb chops must have been marinated for ages. Take care though, when the menu says a recipe is hot, it really is. I like this place and look forward to returning when I'm next in Harpenden.

We were a party of four. We ate here a few weeks ago and loved it so much we vowed to return as soon as possible. Again, our meals were delicious, the atmosphere relaxed, the service courteous and gracious. We travelled by train and taxi to get there and back, but it was well worth it. We can't wait to visit again.

First time at this restaurant, don’t know how we ever missed it? We were a group of four and thoroughly enjoyed each dish, mixed starters for two and tempura veg and battered prawns followed by duck, red chicken curry, lamb chops with a spicy marinade and mixed veg and two lots of noodles and another Thai chicken dish. Not too spicy and great value for great food. Staff were very attentive and friendly have already booked again and would highly recommend..
