The best restaurants in East of England

First time here and we were impressed with the food. Staff were friendly and good atmosphere and decor.

My favourite arabic restaurant...

Treated the family to Sunday Lunch. Food was excellent. My Nephew, a bit of a foodie, said that it was the best pub Sunday Lunch he had ever had. There was a great atmosphere and lively ambience because the restaurant was packed with happy diners. Our orders for drinks and food were delivered with an almost magical speed. The food and drinks were delicious and well presented. The horseradish mash was the star side dish for me. The smart and efficient staff were friendly and attentive which added greatly to the overall quality of experience. We can't find a restaurant in Peterborough to match the consistent quality of experience the Black Horse delivers every time we visit.

Returned to The Alex yesterday, not really a fan of the whole menu but do enjoy The Pulled Pork Nachos which are definitely the best in Felixstowe. This is the small plate portion.

Their kebabs are fantastic, but the service leaves a lot to be desired. Trying to call ahead is pointless — you could ring 50 times and still not get an answer. Even when the shop is empty, you’ll often be told there’s a half-hour wait for food. They don’t offer delivery, close at 8/9 PM on weekends, and sometimes shut randomly without notice. It’s hard to tell whether it's just extremely poor management or if the shop is operating for different reasons.

Visited on a Monday evening around 7:30pm. It wasn’t too busy but it wasn’t quiet either. A nice and steady evening. The food was absolutely delicious and the portion sizes were just right. The waiters were very polite and service was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere stole the show for me. A lot of restaurants you visit these days are drowning in loud music and loud patrons. However, at Blue Orchid they have really cracked it. The lighting, the volume of the music. Left feeling full but not stuffed and very relaxed. Just what you need.

Loved the food. Staff were friendly and courteous. Very fast service.

Such a pleasurable visit we went back the next day. Evie and the rest of the staff gave us all a friendly welcome as soon as we walked through the front door on both occasions despite being busy and served all four of us politely and enthusiastically. The great choice of well kept real ales rounded off a great weekend.

Best sticky toffee pudding ever!! Also some of the best baked goods on offer — baked cheesecake, lemon meringue pie, donuts. The triple chocolate brownie is life changing. We lowkey moved to St Albans because of this place
