Fabulous food, service & atmosphere! The staff were on the ball & Mehmet was very welcoming. Cocktails excellent with some new editions as well to try. Well done all at the Gatsby.

What a great place to come to especially if you have a venue going on like I went to everything was just great the food service was great the staff was amazing..Except one staff did drop abit of gravy on my shirt by accident but you know accidents do happen and it didn’t over shadow the rest my evening…

Was here for my brothers wedding. An amazing day all round. Food was amazing, service was amazing they literally did everything they could and more to make the day run smoothly and to ensure everyone had the best time. Such a lovely place! I performed at a wedding here and it was brilliant. The staff were so lovely and helpful. All the guest really enjoyed themselves and the cocktails were also amazing! Margaritas are a must try!!

We have been going to the Gatsby for many years, and last night was our final one. We go every year as a family for a birthday celebration, we sat at our table and were handed menus, we all made our selections and ordered (most of us went for the fillet steak as this is their signature dish) about 10 mins after ordering we were told they only had three fillet steaks left!! (7pm on a Friday! Ridiculous !! ) so we had to all sit there are work out who is getting steak and who isn’t! This was a very awkward situation to put us in! Then as the evening progressed service was slow, and trying to get attention of a waiter/waitress was an impossible task! If the restaurant had been busy you could understand it, but there was only one other table and the rest of the place was empty! (This speaks volumes!) Last year our bill was £850 and this time it was £540 the difference being down to the restaurant! No fillet steak and slow drink service, this cost them a £300 loss of revenue, very bad management. To top it all they put service on the bill!! So if nothing else they have a good sense of humour!!!

Brilliant venues, I’ve visited a few times for dinner with my partner; having the new management I can confirm the food, staff and service has been second to none. I would happily recommend this place to anyone Berko.

We were lucky enough to attend The Berko Brunch at the Gatsby on Saturday, what an amazing time we had. The venue is wonderful but the best part is the staff , truly fantastic so warm & friendly - great food that all added to the wonderful atmosphere. The entertainment on the day was amazing from the dancers greeting us to the sax player & magician whilst DJ playing to be finished off with a singer Cannot wait to attend again.

Oh no, The Gatsby has changed hands. The menu has changed, as has the food options. It is now primarily Turkish, save for a couple of original options. We found the service slow and confused, we arrived in good time for lunch and to go to the Rex for 2o’clock, we told te waiters we were going upstairs and they brought mains and starters together… not what we were expecting. My companion told the waiter her dish was like warm and he said don’t worry I’ll do something about that… he didn’t. It was a miserable lunch experience.

We had our Grandsons Christening here, it was absolutely perfect! The staff were faultless, in particular I would like to mention Memet hope I have spelt his name correctly, nothing was too much trouble for him. He helped my Sister who has mobility problems, he’s an asset to your restaurant!!

We attended a private function where the whole place had been booked. The food was excellent as was the service especially from Mehmet. We love the atmosphere there and all the staff are extremely friendly.

Came here on a beautiful sunny day and sat outside on the terrace. Before I get to the positives my only negative is that the terrace is sloped and so the tables are also pretty uneven. To improve this they should invest in some table straighteners, however as everything else was at such a high standard, it didn't ruin the meal. We came here on a recommendation and we weren't disappointed. The building is steeped in history going back to the creation of Peter Pan and as soon as you enter, you're instantly transported back to the 30's. The service from our waitress was superb. She was very helpful, attentive and friendly and the food was absolutely stunning. It's not the cheapest place in the world but the quality of food does match the price and for an occasion we couldn't fault it. We came for our 22nd wedding anniversary and it will be one to remember due to the quality of the restaurant. If you're thinking of booking, don't hesitate, they won't let you down.

I like to come here on dates with my lady as they do a wicked dark and stormy. Cocktails are reassuringly expensive. But at least I can pretend I'm slightly posh and not the scruffy biker loser that I actually am.

We visited on 13th July 2024 as we wanted to listen to the jazz band whilst having lunch. The food was very nice and well presented. The dessert was particularly delicious. The only real negative of our visit was that our waitress; Orla, who was working her hardest was working alone, which at times meant we were left waiting for drinks and being able to order our food. Indeed even getting the bill proved a challenge. This is not a cheap restaurant to eat at and we thought it was quite poor to expect one very young member of staff to service the entire upper floor restaurant. Orla you were a star and provided a GREAT service shame you were not supported. Thank you for an enjoyable lunch experience.

Tried the Gatsby restaurant for the first time for Sunday lunch with family and it was amazing. I dont know why we had not tried it sooner. Beautiful posh restaurant. We all loved it. Some of us had Sunday roast and others from the normal menu. The kids were very happy with their food too. Our waitress was lovely and very helpful. All staff were helpful. Lovely round table. The bar area looks beautiful too. The toilet facilities were excellent. Loved the piano playing in the background. The only thing i didn’t like was how small my bottle of coke was at 200mls! Very high prices for both food and drinks. And also the main menu on Sunday was quite limited. Im not sure if they have more menu choices on other days - i would love to go back there regularly but if those are the only choices all the time then its quite limited and we would run out of options after another 2 visits. Would definitely be back.

First of all the music in Gatsby is amazing. The DJ played some of my favorite DJs like Valeron, Black coffe and Anyma. This type of music you listen to Mykonos to be honest. So I was very surprised. Another thing that I liked was the friendliness in there experience of the stuff . Also, the cocktails were amazing . I definitely recommend it .

We had a table for 8 people for Sunday lunch. A pianist was playing which added to the atmosphere, we had a warm welcome and were seated immediately. Our waitress, Frankie, was really enthusiastic and had great knowledge of the menu and wines. She looked after us really well and deserves a mention. All 8 of us thoroughly enjoyed our food, great starters and everyone had the roast as a main. There was no pressure on us to vacate our table so we made the most of the experience. Can’t recommend The Gatsby highly enough.

I have been there quite a few times and went on Saturday with my family at 11pm and was told that the manager wasn’t serving cocktails anymore when it closes at 12? We spent £45 on a bottle of wine and bottle of beer (which was placed on the floor) at 20 past 11 all the chairs were stacked, music off and we felt in the way and almost pushed out. We finished our drinks quickly and left but won’t be coming back.

We went to the Gatsby again today for lunch and as always the food was absolutely delicious the service first class and the ambiance is superb. We have never been disappointed when we have eaten here.

Early evening visit before seeing a film at The Rex, great menu, very reasonably priced, great variety of choices, quality excellent, good service. Fairly quiet around 6pm which suited us.

Wonderful food in a beautiful building, staff were all fantastic, lovely cocktails - highly recommend. Great outdoor space.

Absolute love this place, never disappoints!

We popped in for a drink yesterday afternoon. We were greeted by a member of staff and took a seat. The Gatsby is stunning inside, really special. Staff in black bow ties, decor is lovely, great drinks menu. We had table service for drinks and cocktails, which were fantastic! There was also a pianist and it soon got very busy. There is also a large outside seating area with heaters. Could have spent half the day drinking, chatting, and people watching. We had the table on the stair case away from the crowds, which was the best seat in the house. Will definitely return.

Warm welcome and looked after whilst table was being made ready about 20 minutes late to our table. Food amazing but our orders came out wrong twice, no cauliflower cheese with main and pudding order incorrect. For me too many children in the restaurant, I know it’s all about inclusivity but for a special meal I could have done without young children everywhere! It also took a while to get someone’s attention to pay the bill. A busy afternoon so trying not to be too critical

We visited at the weekend and a fantastic meal. A great celebration for my partners birthday. The fillet steak was to die for. They also surprised us with a complimentary birthday board and the pianist played happy birthday.

Pie and mash portion was on the small side but the quality can't be faulted. £25 for a nice bottle of wine was more than reasonable.

First time here. Came here recently on a Saturday eve. Was served by a lovely lady called Rachel. The place is stunning lovely cocktails and great atmosphere. The manager Alex was lovely too. Recommended a few cocktails aswell for us. Highly recommend

Overpriced for mediocre food. Service was good and nice piano player but wouldn’t come here again. Had a roast, nothing amazing. Won’t return.

Food was average-at-best, the portions were tiny, and it was very expensive for what it was. Service was slow - it took ages to even get a drink. The waitress hassled us to decide on food. Wouldn't recommend.

Lunch with a friend (not for the first time!) in this lovely restaurant. It was an unrushed, very relaxed experience. Good, tasty food. I shall return.

Lovely set menu pre cinema meal, popped in for dinner and was greeted and offered a table, staff we’re attentive and professional , the food was freshly cooked and all first class, plates were Hot and dishes all cooked perfectly , drinks and service were 100%, Food quality and appearance was brilliant, see pictures . This is a very nice place indeed. It's a converted 1930's cinema and has been converted with a very sympathetic touch. The staff as excellent and looked after us very well. Now to the food. Absolutely beautiful food cooked and presented perfectly. Not too flashy and just the right portion size. Price wise just what I would expect to pay for quality food, service, surroundings and atmosphere. Not cheap but not overly expensive. If I did have one negative comments it would be that it got a bit noisy at one point but it is popular and we sat next to the pianist, but it did get better. In my opinion I would highly recommend Gatsby's..

The restaurant itself has a nice feel to it, good lighting and designed well. Service to start was slow and had to ask for menus but it got better throughout the night. The food was the best part, all 3 courses were excellent. Steak was as good as I had hoped and the brownie was a great way to finish the night. Had a great table that suited for 5 friends to sit round and catch up.

Small portion of Sunday lunch at this establishment is only served to children! They outright refused to serve a small portion to an adult and even followed up on our complaint with a phone call to attempt justification of this newly implemented, ludicrous policy. Will never darken their doorstep again. Still many other more accomodating places to eat a Sunday Roast in Berkhamsted. AND Food just as good. Better one smaller sale than none at all.

Had the 2 course early bird menu - nice satay starter, ok green veg curry but “Chilli Ragout Beef” was basic 70’s mince and mash. Try harder, please.

Absolutely amazing night 29/09/23 staff were amazing very helpful and informative. The food was delicious only thing I would say is the bread on bread and dips should be warmed. But 100% recommend to all thanks everyone there.

We went on a Friday night (8pm). Was really quiet, only one other table. Service fab, restaurant is beautiful and food was delicious. My husband said the fillet was the best steak he has ever had! I really enjoyed my seabass fillet and the sticky toffee pudding was out of this world! Will definitely come again!

Our first visit here. Enjoyed the roast beef Sunday lunch and Black cherry cheesecake. The whole experience was superb from being greeted, attention during our meal and the food itself. Couldn’t fault anything. Lovely relaxed atmosphere, beautiful piano being played in the corner and decor was very ornate. So many families and friends there enjoying celebrations or just a catch up. Bit more pricey than some venues but worth it for the ambience and service.

The staff inside are wonderful. Women and men alike are kind and attentive. The Maître d’ are where things perish, he was rude and demanding of his staff. He acted as if he ran the whole business and let everyone know (in front of customers) where staff were not good enough. I wound not recommend this place to any couples where he is on the door because he was rude and belittling. The staff inside were so pleasant, it is a shame to see someone like that as the Maître d’ considering they would be the face of the company. Would not recommend for anyone coming for dinner or casual drinks.

Still our very favourite spot in Berko, great staff, great cocktails, great food what more could you ask for?

We had the Sunday Roast….veggies were ok, an abundance of carrots, one would think it was the focus of the meal, but the meat and gravy, appalling. Absolutely dreadful. The service was good. I wouldn’t recommend their Sunday Roast.

This is a nice restaurant we found by chance when visiting berkhampstead. The only downside is that it is quite expensive when service charge is added.

It’s a real shame as The Gatsby used to be a great place to go for cocktails and dinner but we weren’t impressed. Visited Saturday and sat outside. The only plus point is the outside terrace. The cocktails, particularly the Aperol Spritz were weak so...

My husband and I celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary last night and decided to eat at The Gatsby. Food, service and atmosphere were all 5 star and we had a lovely time. Will definitely revisit in the future.

Came down for a meal with my family at the weekend. It was absolutely fantastic overall, the cocktails were great- we tried the Gatsby punch which was lovely. The food was amazing and very well presented. Attentive and friendly waitresses too! Will be back soon.
