We celebrated my birthday at Crockers, Tring. Downstairs this time, and it was lovely! From the moment we walked in, Libby and Rose made us feel incredibly welcome. Chef Scott and his team outdid themselves. Each course on the set menu felt special; the fish and meat courses were great and we also loved the seasonal surprises. Libby was spot on with her knowledge of the menu and her advice on wine. We can recommend the cheese plate as an extra. Will find an excuse to visit again soon.

On first glance the taster menu looks interesting. It is obvious alot of time and thought has gone into each dish. Every mouthful of every course was exquisite. At the end my husband and I could not give a definitive answer on what our favourite dish was. Can't wait to go back.

Absolutely incredible experience. Chef's table with the very talented Scott spending time with us explaining all the dishes and his process. It's a foodie experience without all the pretentiousness. Literally sit down and enjoy many courses of Michelin standard food. Brilliant we will be back. 2024 I came back! And it's still as awesome as ever. This place is one of those hidden gems more people need to make the effort to go to. The food is incredible a standard you won't get anywhere else in Hertfordshire let alone some of the celebrated restaurants in London. Go there now you won't be disappointed.

Wonderful evening at chef's table. Food exquisite and so painstakingly prepared and presented. Very hard to choose a favourite from the tasting menu as everything was delicious. Service friendly and welcoming and it was great to be able to watch what was going on in the kitchen. No shouting or temper tantrums!! Everything just fell into place and chef and his team made it all look easy.

We have just had a meal and we’re very disappointed the starter was smoked haddock it was so salty that it was only just eatable the main course was slow cooked beef the jus which accompanied this tasted of bovil not a good .experience.we we’re sitting in the main restaurant all the time kitchen staff kept walking through the restaurant not what you expect from a top restaurant.we were asked what we thought at each course and we said what we have written and .we were only charged for one meal but we will not be going back .this is not a top class restaurant but more like a chain restaurant purporting to be a one

Scott and his team consistently create unforgettable dining experiences, and remarkably, the food seems to get even better with every visit. Our taste buds are constantly discovering something new as the menu changes. Each course is always perfect and flawlessly executed. Julie Tripp is hands down the best sommelier we've ever encountered—her wine pairings are out of this world, and her recommendations have led us to start purchasing wines from Crockers. Went to chefs table at lunchtime to celebrate 70th birthday, superb food and a relaxed atmosphere made for an exceptional afternoon, this is my second visit and I couldn’t wait to come back, several guests had the wine flight which was very reasonably priced compared to similar restaurants. The dishes served were presented beautifully and tasted divine, the nice thing about chefs table is you get to try things you may not always choose from a menu, be assured everything here is delicious and not only will you not be disappointed but it also might teach you a bit about foods that are new to you!

Having not been for a little hike it was lovely to come back experience the resturant again. The tasting menu was fabulous, quality of the food, portion size and taste was brilliant for £60 a head . Our waitress libby handled her tables brilliantly and was funny and witty. I will be returning. Small independent business need support from customers so we can thrive . Keep doing brilliantly.

Mind blowing!!! This was the 3rd or 4th time of visiting the chefs table at Crockers. The food is absolutely mind blowing, the service/chefs and sommeliers are/is excellent with such a great sense of humour. It all makes for such an amazing night! The Food was creative, innovative, and most importantly delicious but despite of this the evening was let down by rude and overly opinionated staff who comments overstepped the mark on numerous occasions and then once comments were brought to the management teams’ attention little ownership or acknowledgement of the issue was noted. My Partner & I booked Crockers as a way to celebrate our anniversary with a lovely meal – having been here previously before we’ve never had any issues and the food has always been incredible. Our most recent experience followed suit in which the food was amazing, and the service was good until the meal drew to a close and one of the waiting staff made several rude and overstepping comments not only to my partner and I but also to other dining sat in the dining room about us whilst we could hear. These comments seem to stem through me and my partner wanting to split the bill in which the price was circa £270. After requesting to split the bill 50/50 the remarks from the waitress started, along the lines of the following: “I don’t know why you aren’t making him pay for it” “I believe it’s a man’s job to pay for everything” “Personally – I wouldn’t be happy with that and if my partner did that, I would leave him” Which are comments I don’t think are anywhere near appropriate to be made to paying customers and secondly it is not the waiting staff’s business into how and why we settle things in our relationship. Further to this once my partner had left the restaurant to collect the car at the end of the meal, the same wait staff who was now serving the table next to us a selection of sweet items at the end of their meal and made the following comment in relation to my partner since he had now left the restaurant: (This is after I had made a compliment to the restaurant to how amazing the food was and how we ended up fighting over the last piece as it was so good) “Of course he wouldn’t share, he is so tight” – made in reference to us splitting the bill. This comment was said directly to the other customers across the table for all to hear and as my partner wasn’t there and I was on my own made me feel incredibly uncomfortable, ashamed, and embarrassed. That an amicable gesture between my partner and I was now being made into a criticism by the wait staff to other diners. Further to this the gentleman on the other table seem rather taken back by her comments making the remark “I’m sure he’s a nice guy really” in which she proceeded to carry out which at that point I got up and left the restaurant. My Partner & I are pretty easy-going people and will happily let most things go, but he left the restaurant incredibly offended and upset from the criticisms / attacks made into our relationship. After Spending circa £270 which is hardly cheap and which we had been before and thought it was worth every penny and then to be treated this way really does leave a bitter taste in your mouth and we will not be returning. Following the evening meal and sending an email the following day making them aware of the incident we received the following response (of which my initial email and their response has been attached in the images). The email seems very impersonable and seemed to gloss over the issue all together being left as a “passed on apology” in response to blatant rudeness and overstepping of the mark and these comments should never be made to anyone let alone a paying customer. And was taken as “feedback” rather than a complaint to how poorly we had been treated. Which further caused offence, and furthermore this is an establishment which has been praised by Hardens, Michelin Guide and Muddy Stiletto for their customer service which really was not the case in this experience. This is a real shame as the food and atmosphere was incredible it is just the over opinionated staff and lack of accountability / Customer Service which leaves a lot to be desired.

Simply stunning - a very special evening out! Service faultless. Wonderful chat & some top wine pairings in and outside the restaurant 😂 And the food was out of this world. Favourites were the Wensleydale, trout, shrimp, bread/butter and lychee desert. And the ‘added extras’ (I won’t spoil the surprise!) were so thoughtful. Would highly recommend.

Food was exceptional and the very best I have ever tasted, in particular the lobster and the trout dishes. I'm not usually a sweet dish person but the basil and kaffir lime with passion fruit meringue could convert me ! Special mention to the cheese starter with vinegar and the bread rolls! However by far the most outstanding part were the team there. All fun, approachable and clearly passionate about what they create and all interacting with us in a cool, calm, relaxed style. The chef talking to us and explaining the dishes was a real top guy and he took the time to talk about not just the food we ate but how it all works and the venue (great decoration by the way and plates). Lastly when you think about all the work that goes into it, the high quality ingredients like caviar, lobster and scallops and the amount we had, this has to be the most value for money you can get, remarkable. Thank you Crockers !! Truly memorable, I recommend you unreservedly !!

Crockers Tring It was great to be back at Crockers again where once more we enjoyed a fabulous afternoon in the company of Scott and his team. Despite not being full today the benefits for those who were there meant we could all interact even more with the team which is something they encourage at Crockers making it a really enjoyable experience for everyone. We started downstairs in the Cellar Bar where we were given a complimentary glass of bubbles to we welcome us back which was a lovely touch from the team. Then it was time to head upstairs to the Chefs Table to let the afternoon’s festivities begin. The eleven course tasting menu (including snacks and petit fours) looked really appetising and if fact that’s exactly how it was. To go with the menu they do offer a wine pairing of six glasses. So after we’d all were settled it was time for the first snack a Westcombe Cheddar , IP8 and onion that was delicious. This was followed by two more delights in the form of Chalk Stream Trout and the Beef Fat Rosti. This led us to the Tring Brewery Beer Bread before the first course arrived. The Loch Duart Salmon was one of the most enjoyable dishes and was followed by the Lobster with a light Thai green curry sauce. Next was the Saddle of dry aged Hogget that was my personal dish of the day. This was followed by the Baron Bigod cheese course , the Passionfruit pre dessert before finishing in strawberry heaven with the Valrhona White Chocolate , strawberry , lychee and rose. Coffee and an amazing selection of petit fours brought an end to a fantastic afternoon and one I’m definitely looking forward to experiencing again soon. I really would recommend a visit to Crockers as not only is the food amazing but the team go a long way into making your visit as enjoyable and relaxing as it can be. We were lucky enough to be first to try the new seasonal tasting menu at the chefs table last night. It was by far and out the best dinner I’ve ever had. I was blown away by the cheese biscuit from the start. Alongside this, my favourites were was the veal, the salmon, the hogget and the passionfruit merengue. What’s more, is the chefs were very accommodating to my pregnant wife’s dietary requirements, they even prepared a wonderful pork belly especially for her. Very down to earth atmosphere, paired fantastically with the delicious wine pairings.

It was strangely hit and miss throughout the night depending on the course that was served and by who! The belly pork stated by one waitress was that it had crackling which wasn’t the cash and just a lump of fat that we didn’t try eating. There was one waitress that was really on point, interacting and explaining the food choices and with humour whereas the rest were miserable and didn’t look or feel like they truly wanted to be there. In terms of atmosphere it was quiet and nice in that regard but the downstairs was pretty bland and not that inviting unlike a few other restaurants down the road. We had also mentioned it was a birthday in the notes and the only effort made was a card of crockers at the table signed by staff which was a lovely gesture although that was it… I guess you expect more from somewhere that charges a lot for small tiny portions and are obviously making a ton of profit. The big question is would we go back? I very much doubt it as we have been to far better in terms of Michelin star ⭐️ restaurants both in terms of food and service. Just bang average tbh.

I don't really know where to start with Crockers. Was it the most amazing food i've ever put in my mouth? Absolutely and without doubt, yes!!! But that isn't all, it's not just fancy tricks, pretty food and mind blowing tastes - The pictures on this review are the 3 that really blew our minds, i've never experienced happiness through food like I did those 3 courses. It's really not just about the food though, you think it's going to be, but you're made to feel like part of their team, their unit, their little family. As soon as you get in you're greeted and waited on by some of the nicest people - The biggest shout out of the day has to go to Jake, absolute legend. He just clicked with us, has a laugh with everyone, he's professional, kind, knowledgeably, funny, everything you want and need. Julie was an absolute rockstar of a hostess even considering she'd lost her voice and spotted us awkwardly taking pictures and without hesitation was on hand getting shots of us with all the best angles - So so kind, on the day and when booking. All of the team smashed it, Mikey was the main man and had everyone laughing, had all of our undivided attention and not only is he putting together this flawless meal, but spends time out with you 1-1 and really makes your day. Kieran equally made some time out to speak with the 2 of us and gave us some good banter and Josh/Dan were so polite, again making time to talk to us considering we were the first people there and even throughout always at the top of their game and 2 proper gents. Flawless, 10/10, would recommend and undoubtedly will be back time after time, already planning our return to try out the restaurant asap!

Went here with my husband and son to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday. Have been meaning to visit for a few years and it was so worth the wait!! The bar downstairs was lovely for pre-lunch drinks. I was the designated driver so had a lovely Spiced Appletini which was delicious. My husband and son had the wine flight which had perfect wine pairings for the lunch. The food was perfect from start to finish and we didn't want it to end. My son was very impressed and we all cannot wait to return and bring our other son who sadly had to work. Thanks to the front of house, sommelier and chefs for a fun filled few hours. I took my husband here for a birthday celebration. We have eaten at the chef’s table a number of times which is always superb but decided to try the restaurant. We had an amazing evening. The Chef’s table tasting menu is very good. Some really fine cooking on display. Lots of bold and interesting flavour combinations. The Lamb with Asparagus and Pea was really artfully done, subtle hints of lemon and herbs really made the dish pop. Amazing beer batter and cheese starter too, alongside lots of excellent dishes. Excellent pastry chef skills on display too with some very refined desserts. This was Michelin standard cooking, in a relaxed and fun environment.

We ate at the Chefs Table last night for a birthday celebration - it did not disappoint. Chef Mikey’s cooking and presentation of the dishes on the menu was excellent and he created a warm and engaging atmosphere to enjoy it in. He was also happy to answer any questions that we had about the food which is one of our favourite parts of a tasting menu experience! From front of house, Ava tended to all of our needs well. Despite it being her first time on the Chefs Table, she was a natural! Finally, Jake was an excellent host. He made us feel very welcome and catered to our very special requests, including our love for the lamb bread. His knowledge and pairing of the wines were bang on with the paired food. I’m fortunate that I visit many high profile restaurants - mainly for business purposes, so was interested to see how this concept compared. My wife and I went to Crokers for dinner, as we were staying at Champneys locally. It really was an exceptional experience, that I cannot fault at all - apart from being a tiny bit cold in the main dining area - but that’s nothing - just wear a vest!!!! Even at the booking stage the team were great and so helpful. Service was excellent - friendly, informative, helpful with the dishes and also allergens, and very efficient. On arrival, we had drinks in the cellar bar - very cute and cool, and a lovely wine list and cocktail list. Again, lovely waitress. Food was literally sublime! Presentation, descriptions, tastes and textures - as good as any Michelin starred tasting menu in central London. My wife is a veggie and coeliac - this was no problem for the team to accommodate and build in to the tasting menu. Really well done Crockers team - a really exceptional place and concept, and we will be back!

Scott and the team maintain their excellent record of providing a first class Chef's Table tasing menu, despite numerous visits it is still a special experience. All 15 of us thoroughly enjoyed the evening, with not one single complaint. With such an interesting, tasteful menu, nobody could chose a single dish at their favourite, most having three or four. The wine pairings also went down very well.

Had an amazing evening at Crockers last night. It was my husband’s birthday and we went with our cousins who are foodies too. We were at the chefs table and the interaction between Scott, his team and the guests was inclusive. You were made to feel like their friends. Watching them prepare and present the food was theatre in itself. The food looked and tasted delicious. In summary ‘Out Of This World’

Went on a quiet Tuesday, only six of us seated around the open kitchen. Warmly greeted and served a welcome drink in the smart basement bar while we waited for other diners to arrive. Food was outstanding, a tasting menu, courses nicely paced and described by the chef. Service was warm and friendly, chatty staff with good knowledge and obviously encouraged to engage with customers. Good wine list, not overly expensive with a balance of prices. Pricey overall at £400 for two, so not a place to go often, but definitely a treat.

Had our work Christmas meal at the chefs table! It was perfect!! Scott, Julie & the team are so Amazing!!!! And the food is insane! The oyster with horseradish is another level!!!! By far my favourite restaurant and it’s on our doorstep. Also the basement cocktail bar is beautiful. And you can use that even if you aren’t dining there!

Our 3rd visit wasn’t disappointing. We always choose the chef’s table and my husband has the wine flight to accompany the food. We had a cocktail in the downstairs before we ate which was nice. The resturant was fairly comfortable , service attnetive , it had a reasonable atmosphere. £260 for 3 courses with a bottle of £80 champagne. Had a tasting menu two of the courses the pork belly and the pumpkin soup were absolutely superb , Michelin starred level food. The starter a fancy taramasalata and pudding were good but not on the same level . all in all a top place for a special occasion we would certainly go again.

What a lovely way to spend an afternoon by enjoying a fabulous Tasting Menu lunch at Crockers. The restaurant is set at the top of the high street in the small town of Tring in Hertfordshire. The head chef is Scott Barnard who along with his team create not only fantastic food but with the help of the front of house team try to encourage guests to engage with each other to generate a nice relaxing and buzzy atmosphere. We arrived in Tring for lunch and parked in the car park at the bottom of the high street before making the short five minute walk to the top which is where you’ll find the restaurant. As we entered we received a warm welcome before heading downstairs to the Cellar Bar for an aperitif. Whilst here Scott came down to say hello and to have a catch up as we hadn’t been for a few years. He would then personally escort us up to the Chefs Table on the top floor passing the dining room at street level. The chef’s table is a counter seating in a U shape in front of the open kitchen and the preparation area. This gives you the chance to see the chefs preparing each course from start to finish and gives you the chance to engage with the team. The menu is just a nine course Tasting Menu and there is also the option of a wine pairing. Once all guests are seated then the afternoon begins. The first two courses are your snacks where you begin with the Westcombe Cheddar , IP8 , Onion. This is followed by the Loch Duart Salmon , Ponzu , Yuzu Kosho , Furikake. You then move onto the Tring Brewery Beer Bread with Ampersand Butter. Our next course was the Hand Dived Scottish Scallop , apple , dill , cucumber , porthilly oyster , horseradish , N25 caviar and was an absolute delight. This was followed by another amazing dish of Cornish Cod , artichoke and yeast purée , sauce matelote. We then moved on to the main course and a triumph it was to. The Dry Aged Sirloin of Beef with black garlic , roscoff onion and turnip. Quite simply heaven on a plate. We now moved to the cheese course and this was not good for your arteries. Vacherin Mont d’Or with wiltshire truffle honey on a crumpet was absolutely delicious. The palate cleanser that followed was definitely needed after that. The Bergamot , ginger , pomelo , yoghurt was lightly creamy yet lovely and refreshing. This led us to dessert and as beautiful as it looked the taste matched the presentation. The Valrhona Opalys Chocolate with mandarin and yuzu was the perfect way to finish. We finished with coffee , petit fours and mulled wine to bring to an end a truly great afternoon. The food created by Scott and his team was amazing. The front of house team led by Julie look after you superbly. So when you put all this together you’re not going to be surprised when I say I would highly recommend a visit. Whether you’re a couple or small group this is a casual atmosphere where you can enjoy great food , wine and service. Definitely looking forward to returning again in the new year. Thank You Scott and all your team for a fantastic afternoon and look forward to seeing you all again soon.

We went for the chefs table tasting menu on Sat lunchtime. Food was awesome and beautifully presented. I had the wine pairing which made the whole experience so memorable. The staff are so diligent and helpful. Fine dining with great service but without the pomposity you get sometimes. Atmosphere is fun and laid back but 100% focus on the food and giving the guests the best experience. I have just booked for a second visit.

I haven’t been for some time. It was as fantastic as I remembered and wondering why I didn’t go back sooner. The bar area is new and is beautiful, cosy and relaxing with a stunning copper bar. We had a nice relaxing drinks before being seated for the chefs table. It was an afternoon of delight . Perfect seating, beautiful environment, place settings. Lovely to watch the food being prepared, presented and explained. A great atmosphere from the other lovely guests, staff, great server Jake and amazing head chef. Food was amazing to look at and eat. The petit fours at the end were unexpected and again delicious. Highly recommend this place.

Four of us had dinner around the chef’s table and what a fabulous evening we had. We had pre-dinner drinks in the downstairs bar and were made to feel so welcome. The tasting menu was absolutely delicious from start to finish. The atmosphere around the table was great - friendly and fun. My partner and I popped into plates on the off chance they had space on a Friday night, luckily they had space! we were actually on our way to an Indian restaurant around the corner, and I am so glad we took a chance on plates. They had a set meal (including meat) for £48pp and I must say it was well worth the money! We had to take our food away because it was so much. The flavours were incredible, we loved trying Pani puri- such a fun experience, all of the meat dishes were so tender and delicious. I don't have a bad thing to say! The stand out dishes were the tortilla, chicken curry, greens & paneer, and the rice, poppadoms and naan were better than I have ever tried before! Service was amazing, we loved the personal touch, to be able to speak with the owner & chef. If you have tried plates for brunch, you must try their Indian plates! Incredible- coming from someone who generally is not a fan of Indian food..

Very slow service and over pretentious food in tiny portions. We had to wait over an hour for food to be delivered and when it was it was the smallest amount of food you can imagine. Also the food was not up to the standard the menu thinks it is.
