We had a thoroughly enjoyable visit to Crockers, for a tasting menu chef's table booking for a special occasion. The food was sublime, and each element was perfectly prepared and presented. Julie, our host, welcomed us warmly and although we picked a quiet Tuesday night, she and the chefs exercised a perfect balance between conversation and privacy. Each dish was beautifully designed, and full of flavours. We enjoyed seeing the dishes cooked and plated in front of us, and listening to the chef Michael and his assistant chef explaining the dishes and their passion. We hope to return in the future!

If you travel from Essex to Hertfordshire for lunch then you must think it is worth the trip. Well let me tell you that a visit to Crockers in Tring is just that. This was our fourth time and once again we enjoyed a fabulous Tasting Menu from Scott and all his team. We made the one hour drive to Tring in Hertfordshire. We parked at the bottom of the high street and from there it’s only a short walk through the beautiful town to the top end which is where you will find Crockers. The place is set over three floors with as you enter on street level you will find the restaurant then downstairs is the Cellar Bar. This is where you’ll begin before you make your way to the first floor where the Chefs Table is situated. The chef’s table is a fifteen seater counter tasting menu dining experience where you will enjoy fabulous food and service as well as interacting and watching the team prepare and serve each course. We arrived to a friendly welcome before being escorted downstairs for an aperitif. Then you head to the first floor where you’ll be greeted by Scott and the team to begin your afternoon. The Tasting Menu is 9 courses and reasonably priced at £135 which personally is great value when you consider the quality of the produce. The first two courses are your snacks before the arrival of the fabulous Tring Brewery Beer Bread. This will lead you into the BEEF - this is a take on a burger with a beef tartare , smoked cheese , lettuce and mustard. This was followed by a fantastic SCALLOP - with squid , monks beard , seaweed and a roe butter sauce. These were two amazing courses yet what was to follow was even better. This led to the main course of HOGGET - a saddle with asparagus , stuffed morel mushroom and a black garlic purée. This dish was pure heaven and for me the standout dish of the day. Now it was time for the cheese and desserts. This started with the CHEESE - a barkham blue with an apple tart and lemon thyme honey. Your palate was then refreshed by the CITRUS - of bergamot , blood orange , fennel and olive oil. You would then finish with the RHUBARB - with opalys , ginger and fromage blanc. We finished with a coffee and what only can be described as an amazing selection of Petit Fours to round of a fantastic afternoon. This was an excellent menu and will be hard to beat this year. Every dish was perfectly cooked and well presented. Scott and the team do create a nice atmosphere and it’s also a great way to chat to fellow diners. I really would recommend a visit to Crockers as I think you’ll be in for a treat. We will definitely be back again before the year is out. We had a lovely tasting menu for lunch. The food was amazing , well presented and well timed...never rushed. The staff were absolutely fantastic...special mention to Julie, the restaurant manager to Andrew our waiter. Have nothing but genuine praise for them! This place was a great find as we often head into London for a similar experience. A true gem!!

We had high hopes for our Valentine’s Day dinner at Crockers Tring, having booked the Chef’s Table experience. However, upon arrival, we discovered that the Chef’s Table was booked and our reservation was for the casual dining area—a crucial detail that was never mentioned during the booking process. This was a major disappointment, as we had specifically chosen Crockers for its reputation as a unique and intimate dining experience. The ambiance of the restaurant did little to salvage the situation. The décor felt uninspired, with cheap-looking wine glass prints on the walls and an overwhelming orange color scheme that lacked the elegance expected for a fine dining establishment. This lack of ambiance created an unromantic and unenticing atmosphere, especially for a special occasion. To their credit, the staff acknowledged the situation and offered us a complimentary starter from the Chef’s Table menu along with two glasses of bubbly. Unfortunately, the food itself was a series of disappointments. The complimentary starter, a cheddar biscuit soaked in vinegar, was, quite honestly, one of the worst things I’ve ever tasted. The next course, which leaned into our Mediterranean backgrounds, tasted like store-brand quality despite being made in-house. The main course, pork drowned in mustard, continued the theme of disappointment. By the time dessert arrived—something that tasted overwhelmingly like Hubba Bubba bubblegum—we had lost all hope for the meal. Even the drinks were a letdown. My Negroni came with standard store-bought ice cubes instead of a proper clear ice block, and my Old Fashioned was garnished with a generic cocktail cherry instead of the expected Maraschino cherry, despite my request. We had chosen Crockers based on its flawless reviews, but after this experience, we’re uncertain whether we were simply unlucky or if our expectations for quality food and a premium dining experience differ from the local consensus. Food is highly subjective, but in our opinion, the evening fell far short of our expectations. Although the staff made some efforts to compensate, the lackluster ambiance, uninspired menu, and poor execution of even the simplest details made this a disappointing choice. We would have been far better off dining elsewhere and next time will be travelling into london rather than taking the seemingly more convenient local option.

Enjoy the delights of sophisticated chefs table friendly, relaxed without traveling into London a superb lunch great interaction with Scot and his team yet we felt like we were on our own table I now need to recover.

We have been a few times over the years to the amazing chefs table and I’ve never left a review before, so thought I better this time! Scott and his team are fantastic. The food they prepare and cook is top quality with some cheeky banter along the way. They cook seasonal food with so much thought to every dish and the suppliers they use are top quality. If you ask Scott he will tell you about where your food comes from and usually have a story alongside! It really is better than so many Michelin starred restaurants we have been to in the past. Keep up the good work all at Crockers! We will be back very soon!

I booked the chefs table to celebrate my Mums 60th birthday and it was phenomenal. We were so lucky that it was a quiet evening so had the full chefs table to ourselves and wow it really made it a night to remember. From the service to the most delicious dishes, thank you to all at Crockers for making our evening so fun and special. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a memorable experience.

Always an amazing experience here. We dined at the restaurant today because the Chef's table was full but still we had an incredible time. The food was great, the staff were very attentive and the atmosphere in the restaurant is lovely. This place is turning out to be our go to restaurant for special occasions.

We celebrated my birthday at Crockers, Tring. Downstairs this time, and it was lovely! From the moment we walked in, Libby and Rose made us feel incredibly welcome. Chef Scott and his team outdid themselves. Each course on the set menu felt special; the fish and meat courses were great and we also loved the seasonal surprises. Libby was spot on with her knowledge of the menu and her advice on wine. We can recommend the cheese plate as an extra. Will find an excuse to visit again soon.

On first glance the taster menu looks interesting. It is obvious alot of time and thought has gone into each dish. Every mouthful of every course was exquisite. At the end my husband and I could not give a definitive answer on what our favourite dish was. Can't wait to go back.

Absolutely incredible experience. Chef's table with the very talented Scott spending time with us explaining all the dishes and his process. It's a foodie experience without all the pretentiousness. Literally sit down and enjoy many courses of Michelin standard food. Brilliant we will be back. 2024 I came back! And it's still as awesome as ever. This place is one of those hidden gems more people need to make the effort to go to. The food is incredible a standard you won't get anywhere else in Hertfordshire let alone some of the celebrated restaurants in London. Go there now you won't be disappointed.

Excellent and interesting food. Catered for Gluten Free well with good alternatives where required. Wine list was really good and particularly liked the English wines. The servicing staff were excellent creating a relaxed atmosphere but were very attentive. Overall a superb experience.

Tonight, we dined downstairs. Should I ever wind up on death row in the USA, I shall request Scott and his team surprise me with their incredible taster menu. You simply will not taste more delicious food than Scott and his team prepare and serve to you at their Chefs table.

Tring’s little gastronomic gem. A great place to savour some delicious food, excellent service and good wines at affordable prices for a top end restaurant. Nice atmospheric cellar bar that helped set the tone for a great anniversary dinner.

Wonderful evening at chef's table. Food exquisite and so painstakingly prepared and presented. Very hard to choose a favourite from the tasting menu as everything was delicious. Service friendly and welcoming and it was great to be able to watch what was going on in the kitchen. No shouting or temper tantrums!! Everything just fell into place and chef and his team made it all look easy.

We have just had a meal and we’re very disappointed the starter was smoked haddock it was so salty that it was only just eatable the main course was slow cooked beef the jus which accompanied this tasted of bovil not a good .experience.we we’re sitting in the main restaurant all the time kitchen staff kept walking through the restaurant not what you expect from a top restaurant.we were asked what we thought at each course and we said what we have written and .we were only charged for one meal but we will not be going back .this is not a top class restaurant but more like a chain restaurant purporting to be a one

We were cramped in a room with two other very noisy tables, while the next room was empty. The service should be more attentive and spread the tables more.

Crockers is truly a gem, and in our opinion, it deserves a Michelin star. My husband and I have been regulars for the past four years, and each visit continues to amaze us. Scott and his team consistently create unforgettable dining experiences, and remarkably, the food seems to get even better with every visit. Our taste buds are constantly discovering something new as the menu changes. Each course is always perfect and flawlessly executed. Julie Tripp is hands down the best sommelier we've ever encountered—her wine pairings are out of this world, and her recommendations have led us to start purchasing wines from Crockers. The entire team is fantastic, making each visit feel personal and special. Went to chefs table at lunchtime to celebrate 70th birthday, superb food and a relaxed atmosphere made for an exceptional afternoon, this is my second visit and I couldn’t wait to come back, several guests had the wine flight which was very reasonably priced compared to similar restaurants. The dishes served were presented beautifully and tasted divine, the nice thing about chefs table is you get to try things you may not always choose from a menu, be assured everything here is delicious and not only will you not be disappointed but it also might teach you a bit about foods that are new to you!

We came here for the chef's table on our anniversary and it was such a fun night. Head chef Scott and his team were so welcoming and chatty throughout the evening. The food was simply incredible, can't overstate how delicious each course was. Highly recommended.

Having not been for a little hike it was lovely to come back experience the resturant again. The tasting menu was fabulous, quality of the food, portion size and taste was brilliant for £60 a head . Our waitress libby handled her tables brilliantly and was funny and witty. I will be returning. Small independent business need support from customers so we can thrive . Keep doing brilliantly.

Mind blowing!!! This was the 3rd or 4th time of visiting the chefs table at Crockers. The food is absolutely mind blowing, the service/chefs and sommeliers are/is excellent with such a great sense of humour. It all makes for such an amazing night! We are so lucky to have this restaurant in Tring and it totally deserves the support. Perfect for that special occasion!

The Food was creative, innovative, and most importantly delicious but despite of this the evening was let down by rude and overly opinionated staff who comments overstepped the mark on numerous occasions and then once comments were brought to the management teams’ attention little ownership or acknowledgement of the issue was noted. My Partner & I booked Crockers as a way to celebrate our anniversary with a lovely meal – having been here previously before we’ve never had any issues and the food has always been incredible. Our most recent experience followed suit in which the food was amazing, and the service was good until the meal drew to a close and one of the waiting staff made several rude and overstepping comments not only to my partner and I but also to other dining sat in the dining room about us whilst we could hear. These comments seem to stem through me and my partner wanting to split the bill in which the price was circa £270. After requesting to split the bill 50/50 the remarks from the waitress started, along the lines of the following: “I don’t know why you aren’t making him pay for it” “I believe it’s a man’s job to pay for everything” “Personally – I wouldn’t be happy with that and if my partner did that, I would leave him” Which are comments I don’t think are anywhere near appropriate to be made to paying customers and secondly it is not the waiting staff’s business into how and why we settle things in our relationship. Further to this once my partner had left the restaurant to collect the car at the end of the meal, the same wait staff who was now serving the table next to us a selection of sweet items at the end of their meal and made the following comment in relation to my partner since he had now left the restaurant: (This is after I had made a compliment to the restaurant to how amazing the food was and how we ended up fighting over the last piece as it was so good) “Of course he wouldn’t share, he is so tight” – made in reference to us splitting the bill. This comment was said directly to the other customers across the table for all to hear and as my partner wasn’t there and I was on my own made me feel incredibly uncomfortable, ashamed, and embarrassed. That an amicable gesture between my partner and I was now being made into a criticism by the wait staff to other diners. Further to this the gentleman on the other table seem rather taken back by her comments making the remark “I’m sure he’s a nice guy really” in which she proceeded to carry out which at that point I got up and left the restaurant. My Partner & I are pretty easy-going people and will happily let most things go, but he left the restaurant incredibly offended and upset from the criticisms / attacks made into our relationship. After Spending circa £270 which is hardly cheap and which we had been before and thought it was worth every penny and then to be treated this way really does leave a bitter taste in your mouth and we will not be returning. Following the evening meal and sending an email the following day making them aware of the incident we received the following response (of which my initial email and their response has been attached in the images). The email seems very impersonable and seemed to gloss over the issue all together being left as a “passed on apology” in response to blatant rudeness and overstepping of the mark and these comments should never be made to anyone let alone a paying customer. And was taken as “feedback” rather than a complaint to how poorly we had been treated. Which further caused offence, and furthermore this is an establishment which has been praised by Hardens, Michelin Guide and Muddy Stiletto for their customer service which really was not the case in this experience. This is a real shame as the food and atmosphere was incredible it is just the over opinionated staff and lack of accountability / Customer Service which leaves a lot to be desired.

An exceptionally well put together set menu, it was impossible to fault anything, the mix of flavours, the way it was cooked or presented. It really was a 10/10 of the pair of use and will be going back again soon.

Simply stunning - a very special evening out! Service faultless. Wonderful chat & some top wine pairings in and outside the restaurant 😂 And the food was out of this world. Favourites were the Wensleydale, trout, shrimp, bread/butter and lychee desert. And the ‘added extras’ (I won’t spoil the surprise!) were so thoughtful. Would highly recommend.

We had the set menu and all the food was outstanding.

Food was exceptional and the very best I have ever tasted, in particular the lobster and the trout dishes. I'm not usually a sweet dish person but the basil and kaffir lime with passion fruit meringue could convert me ! Special mention to the cheese starter with vinegar and the bread rolls! However by far the most outstanding part were the team there. All fun, approachable and clearly passionate about what they create and all interacting with us in a cool, calm, relaxed style. The chef talking to us and explaining the dishes was a real top guy and he took the time to talk about not just the food we ate but how it all works and the venue (great decoration by the way and plates). Lastly when you think about all the work that goes into it, the high quality ingredients like caviar, lobster and scallops and the amount we had, this has to be the most value for money you can get, remarkable. Thank you Crockers !! Truly memorable, I recommend you unreservedly !!

We had the most wonderful experience from start to finish. I took my fiancé for his birthday. He’s alittle fusy with food but we both loved EVERYTHING. I booked the chefs table because I wanted it to feel like something abit different rather than just going out for dinner, and it really was. Can’t wait to do it again and share the experience with more people. Special shout out to Scott (head chef) , Jake and Ellie who chatted away to everyone all night ❤️

Amazing restaurant with unique chef table.

We were lucky enough to be first to try the new seasonal tasting menu at the chefs table last night. It was by far and out the best dinner I’ve ever had. I was blown away by the cheese biscuit from the start. Alongside this, my favourites were was the veal, the salmon, the hogget and the passionfruit merengue. What’s more, is the chefs were very accommodating to my pregnant wife’s dietary requirements, they even prepared a wonderful pork belly especially for her. Very down to earth atmosphere, paired fantastically with the delicious wine pairings.

Amazing experience. We have been twice and loved it both times. That is partly due to Scott and partly due to the amazing food. The little veal tarts were out of this world.

Amazing as always, my absolute favourite restaurant

It was strangely hit and miss throughout the night depending on the course that was served and by who! The belly pork stated by one waitress was that it had crackling which wasn’t the cash and just a lump of fat that we didn’t try eating. There was one waitress that was really on point, interacting and explaining the food choices and with humour whereas the rest were miserable and didn’t look or feel like they truly wanted to be there. In terms of atmosphere it was quiet and nice in that regard but the downstairs was pretty bland and not that inviting unlike a few other restaurants down the road. We had also mentioned it was a birthday in the notes and the only effort made was a card of crockers at the table signed by staff which was a lovely gesture although that was it… I guess you expect more from somewhere that charges a lot for small tiny portions and are obviously making a ton of profit. The big question is would we go back? I very much doubt it as we have been to far better in terms of Michelin star ⭐️ restaurants both in terms of food and service. Just bang average tbh.

Just had the tasting menu at the chefs table, every course was fantastic! Service very good and perfect ambience. We’ve been fortunate to eat in some very good restaurants in such as Waterside Inn, Pollen St social, The Ritz, Gavin’s at the Hilton / Windows, Claridge, etc. and this was easily as good, if not better than all of them! Keep up the great work, we’ll be back!

I don't really know where to start with Crockers. Was it the most amazing food i've ever put in my mouth? Absolutely and without doubt, yes!!! But that isn't all, it's not just fancy tricks, pretty food and mind blowing tastes - The pictures on this review are the 3 that really blew our minds, i've never experienced happiness through food like I did those 3 courses. It's really not just about the food though, you think it's going to be, but you're made to feel like part of their team, their unit, their little family. As soon as you get in you're greeted and waited on by some of the nicest people - The biggest shout out of the day has to go to Jake, absolute legend. He just clicked with us, has a laugh with everyone, he's professional, kind, knowledgeably, funny, everything you want and need. Julie was an absolute rockstar of a hostess even considering she'd lost her voice and spotted us awkwardly taking pictures and without hesitation was on hand getting shots of us with all the best angles - So so kind, on the day and when booking. All of the team smashed it, Mikey was the main man and had everyone laughing, had all of our undivided attention and not only is he putting together this flawless meal, but spends time out with you 1-1 and really makes your day. Kieran equally made some time out to speak with the 2 of us and gave us some good banter and Josh/Dan were so polite, again making time to talk to us considering we were the first people there and even throughout always at the top of their game and 2 proper gents. Flawless, 10/10, would recommend and undoubtedly will be back time after time, already planning our return to try out the restaurant asap!

The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly, the food was divine and it was a wonderful evening to remember.

This is a delightful lunch experience. Calm service, beautiful food and a great sense of occasion provide by Scott and his excellent team. Three hours whizzed by and we left buzzing in anticipation of our next visit - already being planned! Great fun too.

On a wet Thursday to be able to eat such amazing food at the Chef's table was a real treat. The staff were so welcoming, the wine list extensive and each course was memorable. The detail that went into each dish was wonderful and the flavours fantastic. We will come back and it is great that mid week lunches can be booked without the waiting list for Friday and Saturday. We have previously been fined at the chef’s table. However, this time, we dined in the restaurant downstairs. We had the set menu for £35 and had a truest lovely experience. Service, quality of wine and ingredients is fantastic! Simply sensational

Jake was great, as was the restaurant manager who both served us both times we’ve come here. The chef’s table is an amazing experience. First time we came for dinner and the second time we came for lunch which meant the chefs had lots of time to explain the dishes and share a fraction of their cooking knowledge.

Went here with my husband and son to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday. Have been meaning to visit for a few years and it was so worth the wait!! The bar downstairs was lovely for pre-lunch drinks. I was the designated driver so had a lovely Spiced Appletini which was delicious. My husband and son had the wine flight which had perfect wine pairings for the lunch. The food was perfect from start to finish and we didn't want it to end. My son was very impressed and we all cannot wait to return and bring our other son who sadly had to work. Thanks to the front of house, sommelier and chefs for a fun filled few hours. I took my husband here for a birthday celebration. We have eaten at the chef’s table a number of times which is always superb but decided to try the restaurant. We had an amazing evening. It’s a set menu like the Chefs Table with less course but an optional cheese course ( which we had). The food was excellent the recommended wines paired beautifully and the service wonderful. I would highly recommend.

Evening meal at the chef's table was excellent. Extremely high standard of cooking and service. The lamb, the bread and the first 'snack' were highlights, but the menu changes with what's in season. Better than some Michellin-starred restaurant meals we've been fortunate to eat! Strongly recommended.

The Chef’s table tasting menu is very good. Some really fine cooking on display. Lots of bold and interesting flavour combinations. The Lamb with Asparagus and Pea was really artfully done, subtle hints of lemon and herbs really made the dish pop. Amazing beer batter and cheese starter too, alongside lots of excellent dishes. Excellent pastry chef skills on display too with some very refined desserts. This was Michelin standard cooking, in a relaxed and fun environment.

We ate at the Chefs Table last night for a birthday celebration - it did not disappoint. Chef Mikey’s cooking and presentation of the dishes on the menu was excellent and he created a warm and engaging atmosphere to enjoy it in. He was also happy to answer any questions that we had about the food which is one of our favourite parts of a tasting menu experience! From front of house, Ava tended to all of our needs well. Despite it being her first time on the Chefs Table, she was a natural! Finally, Jake was an excellent host. He made us feel very welcome and catered to our very special requests, including our love for the lamb bread. His knowledge and pairing of the wines were bang on with the paired food. We hope to come back in the future - Thankyou to the Crockers Team!

To be honest, for the price, I didn't think it was that big of a deal, some courses were really nice, some really average. Decor was underwhelming...

Incredible food wine and service.Atmosphere is chilled and relaxed. Great way to experience great food /wine on a Saturday afternoon. Can't wait to return.

I’m fortunate that I visit many high profile restaurants - mainly for business purposes, so was interested to see how this concept compared. My wife and I went to Crokers for dinner, as we were staying at Champneys locally. It really was an exceptional experience, that I cannot fault at all - apart from being a tiny bit cold in the main dining area - but that’s nothing - just wear a vest!!!! Even at the booking stage the team were great and so helpful. Service was excellent - friendly, informative, helpful with the dishes and also allergens, and very efficient. On arrival, we had drinks in the cellar bar - very cute and cool, and a lovely wine list and cocktail list. Again, lovely waitress. Food was literally sublime! Presentation, descriptions, tastes and textures - as good as any Michelin starred tasting menu in central London. My wife is a veggie and coeliac - this was no problem for the team to accommodate and build in to the tasting menu. Really well done Crockers team - a really exceptional place and concept, and we will be back!

Scott and the team maintain their excellent record of providing a first class Chef's Table tasing menu, despite numerous visits it is still a special experience. All 15 of us thoroughly enjoyed the evening, with not one single complaint. With such an interesting, tasteful menu, nobody could chose a single dish at their favourite, most having three or four. The wine pairings also went down very well.

Had an amazing evening at Crockers last night. It was my husband’s birthday and we went with our cousins who are foodies too. We were at the chefs table and the interaction between Scott, his team and the guests was inclusive. You were made to feel like their friends. Watching them prepare and present the food was theatre in itself. The food looked and tasted delicious. In summary ‘Out Of This World’

The food here is amazing. The staff are very friendly. The whole place is spotless. Highly recommended.

Went on a quiet Tuesday, only six of us seated around the open kitchen. Warmly greeted and served a welcome drink in the smart basement bar while we waited for other diners to arrive. Food was outstanding, a tasting menu, courses nicely paced and described by the chef. Service was warm and friendly, chatty staff with good knowledge and obviously encouraged to engage with customers. Good wine list, not overly expensive with a balance of prices. Pricey overall at £400 for two, so not a place to go often, but definitely a treat.
