El Guaca Mexican Grill in Forest Heath

The food was out of this world very ice indeed....you pay for what you get ....but I wasn't very happy as there added a 15 pounds service charge on the bill ....we are not in America you shouldn't be pressured to pay this charge

Absolutely dreadful experience at this so-called Mexican restaurant. First off, there's no parking anywhere nearby, and I ended up getting a parking ticket for parking 10 steps outside the restaurant. This place needs to provide customers with SOME sort of warning for not parking outside their Restraunt, it shows has no regard for customers' convenience, at least put a small sign inside warning your customers that the parking on the right side of the Business is NOT safe to park outside. All I’m asking for is a small warning sign inside the restaurant, be thoughtful. Putting the issue aside, as for the food, it was bland and tasteless, nothing like proper Mexican cuisine. The service was also awful, with the staff being unhelpful and disinterested. Definitely won't be coming back, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The proportions for the amount of food that you get were extremely overpriced. The queso was completely wrong and disingenuous, with no options for something as basic as white queso.

We were at the El Gauca for our granddaughters birthday last Sunday and it was very, very good. Although it wasn’t busy the atmosphere was great, lively but not too loud. The staff were brilliant, exceptional customer service and very nice to the children. We hadn’t requested it but they brought out a strawberry ice cream with a candle and sang Happy Birthday which was a nice touch. The food was delicious and all four of us (two adults and two children) were happy with our meals. Would definitely recommend this very versatile restaurant.

Absolutely loved eating at el guaca. Food was incredible and we were a large group with noisy kids and they made us feel so welcome. Would hugely recommend.

The onky reason I marke service down to 4 * was because we felt a little rushed. Other than that, I can't fault it. Good quality food & value, very friendly staff. Will definitely be returning

Absolutely Amazing! We were celebrating our Anniversary, definitely be back. Food was superb, cooked to perfection, Staff were lovely , the young lady who served us was very attentative, nothing was too much trouble. Lovely atmosphere, nice and warm.. Thank you so much as we had come down from Scotland... Best Food we have had in a long time, prices were very reasonable to .

£5 for a bottle of Corona is insulting! Other than that, the food and atmosphere is good. Won’t be rushing back though.

It was very busy but distinct lack of waiting staff so it was very slow (especially an issue as we had children with us). Food was distinctly average and particularly authentic. Drinks and cocktails were excellent though. Children's menu was excellent value, although the kids burrito was a little odd and not liked (had amongst other things peas and a tomato sauce in it, plus a tricky size for children to handle, splitting into two smaller ones would have worked better). Queso was good, smokey and stringy, though not exactly what I would expect.

Great food and really friendly service. When a small mistake was made with one order it was corrected quickly and we all had a really enjoyable meal.

Friendly greeting, attentive waited and good prompt. Portion size good. Our glasses are removed from the table and we were not asked if we would like another drink or if we wanted a coffee!!

We chose this restaurant as it is about half way between myself who lives in Warwickshire and my friends who live in Essex. Food was okay but on this occasion nothing to blow my socks off. I think it may have been on the pass too long. I couldn't be fagged with bringing it to their attention because a replacement would be of the same standard. Shame really, it's a nice gaff. Don't be put off though, go and try it and maybe you will have a better meal than I did, I'm sure it was an isolated shortfall in standards! Malcolm Clarke, Rugby, Warwickshire January 2025

Brilliant food as always, service spot on, although they did try and clear plates while a member of our party was still dining so one star removed. Nice touch to have crackers as we visited on 24th Dec.

Another visit for our traditional birthday meal great meal for our 16 year old grandson. We were seated as a group of 9. We had a range of starters, and mains these as were all well presented and tasty very good could not fault the food. Service good and attentive throughout the evening. We brought our own birthday cake which they brought out singing, with plates and forks. Good selection of drinks. Well worth a visit.

Brilliant service from Costa, we first came to this place 5 years ago when it first opened and thoroughly enjoyed it then and it exceeded our expectations today! First class wevice from Costa who was so accommodating and friendly. Highly recommended this place...thank you Costa and the team, we shall definitely see you again!

We booked a table for 4, when we got there it was right by the door, we asked to move, can't do that, the ribs was very poor they was dry, yes dry, he said we could move that was when we got the meal, we went to the one in Ely but closed now, they couldn't do enough for you, I DONT recommend anyone to go to the Newmarket one, I would say to anyone DONT pay the service charge, when we got up to leave they didn't even say goodbye, please I recommend you to try other restaurants in the town,

I had a terrible experience here,the male waiter was very rude to us,I could hear him talking to his colleagues about his baby always crying and that he had enough.i come here a lot with family and friends but the way he treated us was diabolical.we will never return

Lovely restaurant food fresh and tasty felt staff were slow in clearing the table of used pots never asked if we needed more drinks we had to ask also had to ask for more wipes after eating chicken wings - saying that staff were friendly had a good time not sure I would go back The bill was £249 for four adults and three children a-bit steep they added service charge which not sure they deserved full amount

We visited the Newmarket branch as the one near us has closed down unfortunately. We were greeted warmly, the service was excellent and the food was perfect. The birthday “boy” even got a complimentary ice cream and a chorus of Happy Birthday from the staff! We all thoroughly enjoyed our evening and hope to visit again very soon. Thank you!

We very much enjoyed our entire experience. Between the three of us we had traditional chicken tacos, cornita tacos and mushroom fajitas. All were very good. My wife enjoyed the fiery margarita! Staff was excellent and the price point was good. We will return when we have the opportunity.

First time staying in Newmarket, we stayed for 3 days, and ended up coming here twice. Absolutely delicious food and fabulous service, friendly staff, highly recommend. First time I had the hake, second time the burrito bowl..so good. I have previously been to the Colchester branch...also very very good...any chance we can get one in Chelmsford soon??

Great food, small portions, moderately high prices. Went here for dinner after a day of golf. The flavor is spot on, but their serving sizes are rather small. If you're looking for a decent serving for one person, go for the sharable nachos! Strawberry margaritas were perfect! Staff are friendly and the atmosphere is nice. It was a little too warm inside for our taste but other than that, an overall good experience.

Cool little spot in Newmarket. Really like the decor and service. The food is pretty good as well. It’s hard to compete with Southern California and Texas dishes, but I would say best in the area and I would return again. Margaritas are great and they have drink specials. Kids eat free some days and they have specials on food other days.

Always a pleasure to eat here, great atmosphere, food and decor! A favourite for our Dad and Daughter days out. Recommend to everyone!

She had an innate ability to anticipate our needs, ensuring our dining experience was seamless and enjoyable.Her knowledge of the menu was impressive; she provided thoughtful recommendations and answered our questions with confidence and warmth. Zuza’s friendly demeanor and genuine enthusiasm for her role made us feel welcome and well-cared for throughout the evening. Despite the restaurant being busy, she managed to stay attentive, ensuring our drinks were topped up and our dishes arrived promptly.Zuza's remarkable craft as a waitress greatly enhanced our dining experience at El Ghuaca. Her combination of efficiency, warmth, and expertise is truly commendable. We will definitely return, hoping to be served by her again. Unbelievable service from this young lady - whoever accuses younger generation for lack of class ans equisite manners- come and get served by Zuza! Ritz Hotel service and skill!!!

Best peri-peri wings I've ever had

Went here for my sisters 18 and it was absolutely amazing!! We were a party of 7 and they handled it perfectly. The older members weren’t sure of some of the food but the staff were really friendly and helpful and helped explain the menu which was really appreciated. All food was hot and came out pretty quick. It was absolutely delicious and the drinks were great. Both the staff and the food were absolutely incredible creating a wonderful experience, so we will definitely be going again!!

I picked up food to go. I am staying in Newmarket for 2 weeks. Having lived most of my life in Texas next to Mexico - I can tell you this is nothing close to quality Mexican food. The chips were stale. Really stale. The dip was like glue. Just looking at the gluey mess of dip there is no way you would want to put this in your stomach! Threw it all away. Would never go back. Went to the restaurant I my hotel and got some edible food. Many think Mexican food is easy to create. Bad Mexican food is easy but good Mexican food you really need to know what you are doing. EAT ELSEWHERE

Wasn't impressed st all with food . Was a special occasion birthday and service wasn't impressive. Had a deal on meals but slapped a massive service charge on top which was not optional , Discusting. Will not be going back there! Way over priced. Never again 😒

We lucked out by having "LISA" as our Server who attended to our every need. We all ordered different entrees, they came out really fast and they were all good. Really good. The Chilli Con Carne Fiesta Nachos looked to good to eat. Excellent presentation and you could not find a better finger food that was sharable. A must try. The mixed grill Sizzling Fajitas, Steak and Chicken, hands down the chicken is the best I have ever had anywhere. Perfect grilling look, perfect seasoning, perfect texture and flavor. A new benchmark! The steak was a bit rare for some, but I was okay with it. It was very good, but not as good as the chicken. Then there is the guacamole. OMG! Another "Best" in class for it's texture, flavor and combination of ingredients. We got some to go it it did not survive the nightly game of Rummy. Parking is about average for the area. It did get a bit loud due to a birthday party, but we absolutely did enjoy the food and fellowship. A must if you are in the area.

The food was really good and they have a ton of drink options. Lisa was our server and she was super polite and helpful. Great banter as well! We ordered the chimichanga and burrito and they were well portioned. But the Churros were amazing!

El Guaca has consistently delivered flavourful and tasty vegan food, spicy margaritas and lovely service. They've recently introduced a fully vegan menu and some new meal options, and the enchiladas are by far my favourite (I'd go as far as saying they're the best vegan ones I've ever had). The hibiscus and raspberry mousse is absolutely delicious, and it's by no means the only vegan dessert. Highly recommend!

Wanted to stop off somewhere as we had a long journey. Checked this place out on trip adviser and thought we give it a go. Brilliant place, food was lovely. Staff friendly and attentive. Kids menu is really thought about, much better than the usual chips and nuggets affair. Definitely recommend this place.

First time coming here, the food was very good and service was so quick. Lisa was our waitress, she was very lovely and genuine, topping up our drinks and checked in on us a perfect amount to give us such a good experience, also recommended great food choices! Will come back when in area for sure!

We love this place! The food and service is always amazing! I highly recommend the Beef Carnitas Enchiladas and the banana Chimichanga for dessert. Lisa was our server today and she was great! We’ve been many times, but this time for my partners birthday they sang happy birthday with a candle on the dessert (much to her embarrassment) but I loved it lol!
