Quite a relaxed, charming, and picturesque setting on part of a former royal estate. Beautiful buildings with a fitting English uniqueness, with an incredibly polite and responsive staff. Beautiful!

Wow! What a great place to stay. If you are ever in Newmarket this is a fabulous hotel. Lovely spa - pool, sauna, steam room, gym. Beautiful restaurant & rooms. The staff are so welcoming & friendly too / we loved it.

We visited Bedford lodge for afternoon tea and were very impressed. Restaurant was very cozy yet stylish and the staff were exceptional. We were very well looked after. The afternoon tea itself was delicious, good range of sandwiches and savouries followed by amazing scones and cakes. Overall an excellent experience

Went here for Afternoon Tea as a Birthday present for my Mother. It was a Friday and wasn't especially busy but it had a nice cosy atmosphere, the staff were friendly, helpful & efficient without being intrusive,we noted none had English as their Mother tongue and one struggled to even converse atall. Savory items came first with a choice of teas and coffee, I had a large thin sausage roll which was hot on the outside but completely cold in the middle. There was also a small quiche and a selection of sandwiches, which were ok but not seasoned, making them taste quite bland. Next came pastries, warm scones, clotted cream, jam and homemade lemon curd. For the most part the pastries were very nice except for what appeared to be a pre- frozen mousse and a madalaine which spoiled the overall set, scones were nice, as to was having lemon curd, a nice touch. I regretted having coffee afterwards, as it was a kind of cheap batch type and tasted awfull.

A very enjoyable stay again at this hotel. Efficient check in procedure. Good room - well equipped. Only criticism was the heavy duvets made it too hot to sleep well. Good choice of wines in the bar where the service was attentive. Enjoyed the evening meal. The asparagus starter was perfectly cooked, as was the steak to order. We shared a desert - delicious. Breakfast was from a good variety of choices. There were no price supplements and the ingredients of the full breakfast of high quality. Plenty of car parking. Apart from the heavy duvets, what was not to like?

Very good if you like horses, they are everywhere around you, race horses at that. Some rooms even look out onto several horse walkers. The whole place is extremely clean and tastefully decorated, and the restaurant has two AA rosettas. A lovely place to stay, highly recommended.

We booked this beautiful place for a corporate meeting morning. I couldn’t recommend this place highly enough. The service and room were excellent. The IT was easy to navigate and the food and drinks supplied were brilliant.

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at the Bedford Lodge Hotel to celebrate my birthday. The service in all areas was flawless, with all staff very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a Superior King room which was spotless and the bed super comfy. We had a lovely evening meal in Squires Restaurant which had a great atmosphere to match the great food. There was a vast choice for breakfast with everything very fresh and of excellent quality. We made use of the Health and Fitness Suite which was clean with a lovely pool, steam room and sauna. We would highly recommend a stay if you're looking for a relaxing stay in the area.

It is an excellent hotel - wonderful food - especially Sunday lunch which is really good value. It is a lovely place to stay and in a great location. The staff are always amazing. I could not recommend it highly enough.

So, I thought I'd been drinking hot chocolate on and off from my early childhood through to my midlife. No. I was fooled. I was lied to. Tonight, really was the first occasion in 40 or so years that I actually experienced authentic hot chocolate. The Bedford Lodge Hotel has set the bar. It was almost wrong to drink. Was this a dream? Was this half a pint of melted chocolate under a whipped cream topper? It was a life event. Yum.

Do not use! Cancelled our wedding reception 2 days before our wedding and ruined it. No remorse, they couldn’t care less. Guests flew it from all over the world and we could not rearrange in 2 days!!!!! I have recordings and documentation to prove this. Book your wedding somewhere else.

Had a business meeting here, just in the bar. When I asked if we could bring our small terrier in with us we were treated like we had asked for free rooms. Will never return.

My 4th Sunday lunch here this year and the worst, very expensive but normally pretty good, however roasties tough, veg undercooked, Yorkshire crazy crunchy. Won't be eating here again - The Bell looks good so will try there.

Nice Conference venue. Easy to get to and access. Plenty of parking. Plesent buffet style lunch.

Beautiful afternoon tea,food and service amazing, well worth a visit

Stayed here as part of a family birthday. It’s not my kind of place (I don’t need pampering). But the place is very nice, all the staff were very attentive, the pool and pool facilities were great (extra points to the pool staff for ejecting children from the hot tub, admittedly they were our children, but it was great to get an official ‘no’). The only down side was room; the power shower was weak, the sofa bed was uncomfortable and the little horse (£25) doesn’t come with the pink tie 😢

My partner and i stayed at Beford Lodge Hotel when we went racing at Newmarket for the Cambridgeshire meeting. Iam so glad we stayed there as the whole place is visually stunning, in a great location, and the staff who work there are all a credit to their employers. We have already booked for next years racing it was that good.

Absolutely stunning spa in a beautiful location. The facilities are incredible and the beauty therapists are very skilled and professional. Afternoon tea was beautiful. Had a slight miscommunication with one member of staff however the manager went above and beyond to ensure we felt it was resolved.

Great location, very old style class for the atmosphere and decor. Food was great, eggs benedict were in a class of their own. Only glitch was that we had phoned ahead to get earlier check-in as we were driving up and needed to change for a funeral, however when we did turn up we were told room not ready and were offered the spa changing room as an alternative, shame as other than that it would have been a perfect stay during a stressful period.

Very friendly staff excellent service through out. Room was very well maintained and bed very confortable. Food was excellent, evening meal outstanding,breakfast was also delicious the hotel do the little things so very well it's the finer touches. We shall mist definitely return to stay and also visit for lunch. Five stars all day long.

Just had a work lunch. We were allowed to novecthectables around outside. The food was fine. 6 out of 8 received what they ordered. The other 2 quite happily ate what they were served. It was bust and the food to a vit to long for a work lunchtime.

Great service, amazing food and gluten free afternoon tea was absolutely gorgeous. Lovely table settings and proper unlimited coffee was brilliant - well 2 of us managed 2 pots of it. Didn't go into rooms so can't comment on them.

Nice hotel, room recently refurbed and in good condition. We arrived early and were checked in quickly. Pleasant pool with steam room and sauna. A short walk to the centre of town. Breakfast in the morning was superb. Would go again

Amazing staff. They took our bags to the room while we were out (as soon as it was allocated) which is what I'd expect. Food is very good. The bar area is a relaxing area. Our room is tidy clean and the decor is good. They need another type of pillow choice in the cupboard. By the time I realised I was too tired to ask for another, although I have no doubt they would have brought another choice. It's a great location for the races.

My son's prom night held here. Bar staff were rude and unhelpful. Reluctant to explain it was table service only, which we were unaware of. When finally settled our waitress who served our drinks, was sweet and tried her best. Slow also.

Lovely clean hotel, but the service was disgusting. We waited 25 minutes for an order of drinks to be broughtto us outside. When we mentioned the waiting time we were told that they were very busy inside. We went inside to find one table occupied and three staff members behind the bar chatting.

Great spot here in Newmarket to visit the city. The hotel is comfortable and nice and the staff wonderful. The food is tasty as well.

We haven't stayed here only eaten, we meet family here as it is halfway between our locations, it is a perfect spot, and the food is delicious, who knows one day I might even stay over and enjoy the breakfast.

We had our wedding at Bedford Lodge and i can't thank Emily and all of the staff who took care of us all throughout the day enough! They were all amazing, from setting up the ceremony room to transforming it into a beautiful setting for our afternoon tea (while we all wandered around the grounds for the photos) everyone was so friendly and helpful they made our special day even more special. A big, massive thank you to you all from Mr and Mrs Cheung!

Lovely hotel and great staff, only downside was that for one our fridge was mouldy and if you don’t mind house keeping coming in and out your room without you asking and moving your stuff then it’s the place for you!

The girls and staff at the pool /gym are fantastic as it’s not there fault BUT the amount of money the Bedford lodge charge to use the facilities each month and every time you go, something isn’t working ie the pool is cold the steam room is not working the hot tub is cold and broken the showers are cold not to mention the floor is so slippery it’s lethal.

Lovely staff and Sunday roast is always phenomenal. Always a little dissapointed with the puddings though

I have stayed at Bedford Lodge on many occasions and it always feels like a home from home. A truly wonderful gem of a hotel, and a special thank you to the lovely Rebecca who recognised me last month when I was checking in from previous stays. She is an absolute asset to your team! My partner and I had a wonderful stay on this latest occasion and the food in the restaurant is far better quality than what we receive in London restaurants (service much better too!). We had a lovely afternoon tea in Squires restaurant. The waiting staff attentive, warm and friendly . The sandwiches cakes and desserts were exquisite . We were a group of 10 and they dealt with us very efficiently and accurately. Best afternoon tea we ever had. Plenty of selection with a goody box to take away anything you can’t manage on the day! Thank you.

Stayed here for two nights and it was fantastic. The hotel has a swimming pool, sauna, steam room and hot tub which can be used throughout your stay. It was never very busy and was very clean. Hairdryers, Straighteners, shampoo and body wash in the changing rooms. Plus a swimsuit dryer. The rooms were clean and came with great amenities including Molton brown toiletries, a mini bottle of milk in the fridge, biscuits in the room, water in the fridge. They even remade our bed in the evening whilst we were at dinner. All staff were so helpful and friendly throughout our stay. The restaurant was exquisite! I had the Herdwick Hogget (lamb) both nights as it was so good! You can also order from the bar menu in the restaurant. Restaurant staff were really accommodating. Breakfast was also really good. Food came quickly too! Each room has a toy donkey in which you can buy to take home with you! I found phoning up to book was easier than trying to do it online. Would definitely visit again.

COMPLAINT - NO ROOM HOT AND COLD WATER . We booked into the Bedford Lodge Hotel in good faith for one night for 09/12/2023 at £215 and paid in advance. I am writing this review as I was dissatisfied with response I received from the Deputy General Manager David Croucher. When a service is provided and it doesn't reach expectation, reasonably, you expect a reduction in the costs. If the hot and cold water was not available in the room you would expect reasonable consideration for compensation for such a shortfall. Well, at the Bedford Lodge Hotel this doesn't happen! We paid our £215 in good faith and the failure to provide hot and cold running water in the morning when we woke up was totally unsatisfactory. So no bath or shower, no basin facilities to brush teeth etc etc... basically nothing to wash with at all! I reported the dilemma and only when we were about to checkout at the front desk were we told that we could use the spa facilities, however we were on a tight schedule and simply just did not have the time and a taxi was due to turn up in 5 minutes, so it was impossible to consider this. If a service is not up to that advertise then the paying customer has every right to complain and get compensated. At £215 you would have thought that out of common courteousy a pragmatic solution would have been considered. The only recompense suggested was a upgrade to a junior suite on another stay valid for 6 months. If the BLH think that I am going to go all the way to Newmarket to spend another £215 in their hotel just to experience one on their junior suites they are mistaken. It was a ridiculous offer with no substance. So on reflection if this hotel falls short of any of its perceive facilities don't expect them to accommodate any request for a reduction in what you have paid! I would welcome any response from any one at the Bedford Lodge Hotel more senior management or executives other than the Deputy General Manager to discuss the matter. I did not pay £215 for my wife and I to have cold shower on a very cold December morning and I would expect more compensation than a putrid upgrade to a junior suite which was totally unacceptable. I await your response.

Third visit to the restaurant (Squires). Lovely ambience and decor, excellent food, drinks, and service. The only thing that lets it down is the slight smell - stale undertones which permeate the whole building.

Inconsistent crossed with terrible management skills. Particularly disappointed with the way the deputy GM handled our conversation. Very dismissive, promised the new gym manager would call me back/email me (keeping in mind I’ve had to call them 4 times already). The attitude of the senior management certainly spirals down to the rest of the team. You need to review the ‘hotel 101 rule book’. The pool area and gym is great… when it works.

Great friendly staff and luxury venue.

Oh dear.... this should be a lovely place to stay BUT we went for a spa weekend and: jacuzzi broken, pool cold, restaurant cold (with really intrusive loud music, which staff refused to turn down). Staff generally pleasant and helpful but not somewhere I would stay again after this experience (who wants to swim in a cold pool and then not be able to get warm in jacuzzi?)

Used the lounge for afternoon tea. Excellent service. The tea was more than we could eat. Excellent quality sandwiches, cakes and scones. Needed doggie bag! Great value.

This is on the whole an excellent hotel, service is attentive however let down in my experience by the restaurant. After waiting 20 minutes to order, I opted for the £21 Burger as the main menu was quite limited. I assumed if they sell a chateaubriand for £70 the burger should be good. Sadly what arrived was two tiny grey patties, which tasted as they looked. I brought this to the attention of my waitress who (clearer having recieved the complaint previously) quoted a passage from an unknown law from 2012 about cooking meat thoroughly. The presumably, manageress came over shortly over to repeat exactly the same. Whilst I was offered an alternative and not charged for the burger, this still isn't good enough by a long shot. BEDFORD LODGE if you don't trust your meat supplier or your kitchen prep don't serve what look like Iceland 4oz ers. This experience let down what was an otherwise pleasant overnight stay.

Wedding review: I've already had a frank discussion with the Bedford Lodge Hotel when receiving our refund. I will start with they were really helpful when covid hit and we had to move our wedding to 2022. Unfortunately, the level of service we received after this was incredibly poor. When our original coordinator left at short notice were passed from coordinator to coordinator with seemingly no handover. Details were missed off, and I had to resend documents several times. This continued up until the week before the wedding when I received an incorrect invoice and then was asked why it hadn't been paid, despite having chased numbers and menus. I took time off work to do a final visit, no one on their side was properly prepared, and I couldn't even view the rooms as they were booked up already that day. I even had to resend the documents I'd already resent after the meeting. Overall, we experienced incredibly poor service that tainted preparations before things, unfortunately, got even worse. Sadly, we caught covid the week of our wedding. We were responsible in our attitude towards this, despite having no legal obligation to do so, and informed all our suppliers. Sadly, despite having no measures in place to protect their staff and guests day-to-day, their management decided we couldn't have our wedding there. It very much felt like we cared more about their staff than they did, and the onus was on us to sacrifice our day. I asked if they had any written covid health and safety measures in place and they said they didn't. They initially also claimed we could do something 'covid friendly' and had us pay the entire remaining sum, then backtracked the next day. It took days for us to get our refund, and I had to chase. Really, considering how we were treated, it should have been immediate. In the end, while we received a full refund (the minimum they were required to do by law for breach of contract), we lost thousands of pounds in related supplier costs we couldn't use in the alternative venue we were forced to use as my family already travelled from NZ. This is not to mention our family who travelled from the UK/Ireland that lost money too. Six months later we still feel incredibly sad about how we were treated and unless things have improved I cannot recommend Bedford Lodge Hotel as a wedding venue. What was meant to be one of the happiest days of our lives was one of the worst because of them.

Was here for a work thing. Food excellent. Very attentive and supportive service. The conference rooms are all named after famous races, Derby, St Ledger and so on. There’s a wonderful horse mural in one of them.

The hotel grounds were stunning, despite the awful weather the hotel still looked stunning. Upon arrival at reception, we received a warm and friendly welcome from staff and were quickly checked in. The room was spacious and the bed comfortable. However, there were some large cracks and rust marks on the floor in the bathroom and it could use updating. My only real issue with this hotel is the pool/spa facilities. It is not clearly advertised that when you stay at Bedford lodge hotel and spa, that you don’t actually have access to the spa. You have access to a leisure facility in the hotel not the spa. This was very disappointing as we discovered on arrival that if we wanted to use the spa it was a minimum of £65pp. Which we did pay for and while the spa was nice, it was grossly overpriced for what it was. The best part of this experience was undoubtedly the food. The standard of the food at the esquire restaurant was superb. The dinner was a true fine dining experience. However, we we were being seated we did ask to sit in the more intimate red section of the restaurant but were informed this was not open due to staffing. We instead were seated in the section opposite the wine bar which was very open and chilly. When we did ask if we could move to this section the waitress did say she could open it up for us if it was ‘a massive issue’ and was made to feel as though this would be a imposition. Overall while I enjoyed my stay here given the issues we experienced I wouldn’t stay again. But would recommend the restaurant for the quality of the food. Hats off to the chef.

My recent visit to the Bedford Spa on Friday evening for the evening bliss package, completely blew me and my companion away. Their website does not do it justice. You could say that driving from London to Newmarket for a few hours was a bit of a risk, but it was well worth it. We were impressed from the moment we drove into the grounds. We were greeted by the most genuine, courteous, and caring staff. From the hotel receptionist to the spa receptionist to the beautician. It didn’t feel forced or fake, but rather warm and welcoming. I believe you are doing something right by keeping your staff so cheerful and polite. If I could name everyone, I would, but everyone who worked there after 4 p.m. contributed to the positive experience we had. I can't wait to return.

We sat in the sun on the terrace and enjoyed a burger from the bar menu . Perfect fries to accompany an excellent , juice and tender double patty burger .Brilliant place just on the outskirts of Newmarket. Looking forward to trying the restaurant on our next visit .

Amazing hotel, friendly staff and fabulous food. Not only did they go above and beyond to ensure our small Covid wedding (15 ppl in Dec 20) was everything we could hope, for in difficult circumstances, they then pulled out all the stops when we held our celebration party here in Sep 22. The staff handled every request and ensured both events ran smoothly. I would recommend this hotel on all counts from a meal to a night away or to something as big as your wedding day. Fabulous, thank you.

Lovely hotel, super polite staff and delicious breakfast but just a WARNING if you’re looking to stay in an executive suite - We stayed in the Executive suite room 5 and in the morning around 7am you’re woken up to music coming from downstairs in the restaurant/bar.
