First time we have visited and so looking forward to going again, having experienced many restaurants it finally makes a change to receive food which is presented to such a high standard, also it being hot ( not Luke warm) plates hot as well, why do not all restaurants do this !! Food was absolutely lovely, service is 1st class, at last we have found a real gem. 100% recommend this place you will not be disappointed.

1921 Angel Hill is a lovely welcoming restaurant with friendly and professional staff. The idea of the ever popular tasting menu is a good one as it allows you to sample different dishes. The food is thoughtful, innovative and tasty, with the standout dish being the mersea crab (amazing!). However, I thought it was expensive for the small portion sizes and I was disappointed with the duck replacement dish (a goats curd cannoli). I totally understand the concept, as I have enjoyed many “tapas style” tasting menus in the past. However, to spend £150 (for 2 people including 3 drinks) yet leave not feeling totally full was a little disappointing. 1921 is an enjoyable, elegant evening and I recommend the experience.

As a family we have used the regal fish and chip restaurant over many years, we visited again this week, the quality of the food was amazing and the portion size of the large fish and chips was huge especially the fish which over hung my plate on both sides. My daughter and her friend had Gluten Free fish and chips and chose to have haddock, they said the batter was light and crispy and the best Gluten Free fish and chips they had ever had, would highly recommend and we will definitely be returning.

Awful meal of oily, tasteless onion bhajis served with a brown sauce that tasted like HP, 2 veggie curries of nothing but frozen vegetables, a Peshwari nan that was dry and flavoured only with a bit of desiccated coconut, and a soggy, greasy bag of the cheapest French fries you can buy. £35 basically in the bin!

Unfortunately a really bad experience for a take away. Meal was of poor quality and 2 main dishes were missing. We had organised a take out for 10 people at home. I had called the evening before to check that wouldn’t be a problem and I was assured it wasn’t, so duly ordered the following evening. Only when we sat down for dinner did we realise there was missing food. We called Shilpa and they said they could deliver the food in 30 mins or so or, on the next take out, have the missing dishes free. Neither of these options worked for us so after a conversation we were given a credit for the missing food. Fair enough, Shilpa had tried to rectify the issue and we came to a resolution in the end. The staff were all pleasant, courteous and well intentioned. The big however was the food we did have was so poor that unfortunately we will not be using Shilpa again. A real shame as we have enjoyed both eating there and had take outs for a few years. I’m all for giving places a second chance but unfortunately a previous poor eat in experience meant this was it!

We ordered a selection of savoury food for 17 people for a family celebration. Sam was very helpful and gave us a lovely choice of food from which to choose. The food was beautifully presented and we all agreed that it was delicious. Don't hesitate to use their outside catering services.
