Rayleigh Spicy in Rochford

Went here for an evening meal after a couple of beers. Turned up about 30 minutes before they were due to close. Initially the waiter said no to a table but the head man came out and welcomed us with open arms. We’re glad he did had a great curry with extras and a couple of beers. Would recommend and will be back.

Second visit this year , never disappoints, great service, fantastic food and good value. We will be back. Thank you Shar and his team

Came in on a Sunday, service was great, very friendly and attentive but not overbearing. Food was absolutely delicious, couldn’t fault it! Really recommend the lamb tikka rogan Josh, the lamb was so tender and curry was fresh, hot and really flavoursome. Will definitely be returning

Lovely takeaway this evening. Everything so flavoursome, hot and freshly cooked. This has always been a good restaurant, I'd forgot they do takeaway too. Thanks Shah and the team, will be back for another takeaway.

Group of us enjoyed the Thali evening here on Mondays. Service was fast and friendly, and the food was fantastic. The Thali consisted of a mini lamb dansak, mini chicken masala and a mini vegetable jalfrezi, naan bread and rice. There was plenty of food without any extra sides needed. The restaurant itself is fairly small and intimate, not that many tables so I'd suggest booking especially if you're a group larger than 4. It's somewhat dated but authentic and has evidently been a part of Rayleigh highstreet for many years. Highly recommend!

Went here as a group of 6 Great Service, really quick and attentive. Lovely food too. Every dish was a hit. Clean plates all round at the end. There are a few choices of curry restaurant in Rayleigh. Don’t forget the Rayleigh Spicy

First takeaway from Rayleigh Spicy. Delivered promptly. Food was really good. Crunchy bhajees. Lovely aubergine and veg curry. Lamb and chicken dishes so tasty. Accompanying chutneys and sauces good. We don't often go out to eat, or have takeaways but I shant look any further next time. Thank you

pleasant place and decently priced. food was nice. tikka kushbu was nice but lamb was a bit tough. we also had syleti makhani which was also good but a teeny bit bland - however this might just be the nature of the dish being a buttery mild curry. the side dishes of bombay aloo and chana masala were nice, rice was a good portion, the garlic naan was amazing, poppadoms came with some of the nicest dips i’ve had at an indian too. there’s an item on the menu, pretty sure it’s called ‘thali’ and it gives you a bit of everything on a platter, bit like a set meal. unfortunately they only do this monday-wednesday and we went on a thursday. it would be a nice addition to see this as an item served every night but possibly for a higher price on busier days. staff were friendly and quick service - although we were the only people there.

Food was good, portion sizes were ample, everyone was friendly and attentive and the prices are decent. We'll definitely be returning.

Great fellas in there , that don't mind having a laugh with customers, foods always good , and they allways are willing to try meet special requests..... not had a bad meal in there and would recommend, no frills, value for money.

Had a meal on 17-Dec-23 and everything was delicious. Really good food and service, a credit to all the team who work there.

Disappointed by being served the wrong meal tonight. Ordered a chicken Kashmir with mushroom rice. What I got was not chicken chicken Kashmir. It was considerably hotter and had a lot of onions in it. And my table of 4 were rushed to pay and leave by the waiter hovering around.

Haven't been for ages, but Shah and the team were as fantastic as ever. Brilliant food great atmosphere and sensible prices. We won't leave it so long next time!

Ordered a meal for one over the phone to be delivered at 10.45pm on a Friday night omg thank you so much it was amazing and looked lovely flavour was great and lots of it would definitely recommend and will definitely be my one to go to sorry can't add pictures I have eaten it all

Food is very tasty, staff are always friendly whether you eat in or have takeaway. The only down side is the music is too loud in the restaurant, not easy to talk.

So disappointed with our curry tonight from Rayleigh Spicy. Jason’s prawn pathia had 5 prawns in and flavour nothing like we’ve had before, my chicken tikka dansak had over cooked chicken and lacked flavour, George’s korma had bone in. Jason phoned to let them know and ask if they’d changed chef, but no. We were offered another curry but having eaten half we didn’t want another one. So we were offered 10% off our next order by way of an apology. Just feel disappointed. We’ve been loyal customers for over 20 years! Sadly we will not be ordering again :(

I have been coming here for as long as I can remember, and it has to be 20 years at the very least. Never had a had meal/experience in the whole time, really is one of the best Indian restaurants around! Would be amazing if you could bring back the coconut ice cream from all those years back. It's the best ice cream ever! Nice to dine in on occasions, but I prefer to take away.

We arrived at 9pm a walk in, busy restaurant we got the last table. Good atmosphere, food and drinks were excellent, attentative staff done a great job and waiting time was very reasonable. Looked after by Ali , and thanks for the glass.

What a poor meal ordered at 5pm come at 5.30pm stone cold spent 60.00 pounds and forget some of the order no way chucked most of it in bin and never order again beware folks order at your peril.

I visited Rayleigh Spicy for the first time since living in the area, having always ordered from here for delivery we decided to sit in. The food was just as good, however there was a mouldy sign on the window that really put me off.

Very nice meal from a long established High St Indian restaurant/take away. The restaurant itself is pretty small, thus tables are (very) close together. (Having said that, this is possibly how things will be in the future, as to spread tables out, cuts number of covers and is bound to up prices). Nice food, decent selection (plus one or two specials). Very friendly, helpful staff, nice atmosphere with friendly "regulars". Our first visit, but we'll go back.

Very nice meal. Good service but if your not the tallest you will struggle to reach the table as the chairs are low. Not a place for the small man.

Ordered a takeout, food was a bit greasy spilling out of lids. Everything is just average, but the only disappointment was the lamb tikka!! When I removed the lid, the lamb tikka was like the Chinese roast pork (char siu) sliced with red edges. Didn’t seems to be charcoal grilled, looks more like boiled.

This is our go to place for a curry, they do a lovely curry with specials of the day on offer. We normally buy a Groupon voucher for the thali nights, absolutely brilliant value for 2 people.

Our first time trying Rayleigh Spicy. Had one of the best curries we have ever had. So much flavour, meat generous portions and very tender. Shame it's not local to us, but we will definitely be using again. Friendly and efficient staff too.

Just the best curry I've had in years! So good I went back again a few days later. I used to live in thexsame town and Rayleigh Spicy one if my local haunts. I'd forgotten how amazing the food was. Staff super friendly too.

Food could be warmer but tasty. Reasonably priced. Restaurant looks tired though, needs tlc. Parking not far from restaurant. Parking free after 7pm.

Ordered a takeaway on New Years Eve at approx 19:00hrs - We were told it would 2hrs which was okay and the food turned up at approx 21:00hrs. However, the starters were cold and bland and the curry dishes again were cold and swimming in oil. We ate half the starters and began eating the main course but they ended up in the bin. Very disappointed and will not be using them again.

Decided to see in the New Year with a take away from the Rayleigh Spicy having seen many good reviews online. We knew it would be a busy night and placed our order at approx. 7.15 and was advised that there would be a two hour wait. No problem for us. We ordered two Puri dishes as starters - very disappointing, greasy and bland - we left most of it. Mains were a vindaloo and dhansak- both were swimming in oil and barely warm. We ordered plain rice unaware that one of the dishes came with a pilau. Also ordered one veg dish which again lack seasoning. We were also overcharged- unless they had added on a delivery charge and failed to let us know! Very disappointed - we won’t be using them again.

Went there for a takeaway. Never been before but will definitely go again. Pleasant friendly service and a very tasty meal. Went with a friend and he gave it the thumbs up also. Had to wait about 15mins but worth the wait. May go for an eat in meal as, although small, it was cozy and inviting looking.

Chose Rayleigh Spicy for the good reviews in our area. We had to wait for an hour and a half and only live down the road. After this time we called again and they told us the driver was running late. We ended up waiting...

ok, ordered my meal by telephone with a very polite lady and was able to pay by card over the phone. My order arrived within the stated delivery time and my food was still hot. Absolutely fantastic Onion Bhajis, Chicken Tikka Ceylon, Mushroom Rice, poppadoms and dips, a refreshing fresh salad and a lovely Naan. You seriously have to try Rayleigh Spicy

I’ve only ever had takeaways from Rayleigh Spicy and the food has always been excellent and their tikka masala is the best I’ve had anywhere.They have an excellent menu with a lot of vegetarian options. The food has always come quickly and arrived hot.The staff are all really friendly and the owner really goes out his way to make sure all his customers are looked after. Nothing is too much trouble. You really can’t go far wrong getting a takeaway from Rayleigh Spicy.

Eaten here many times and as usual the food was really nice, but what disappointed me was that there was hardly any social distancing, no anti-bacterial hand gel, the cutlery was on the table, the menus were not disposable. None of which complied with Government...
