Excellent service and quality fresh cooked food, the rib eye stead was fabulous with no steak knife needed. Our new favourite place and we travelled 40 minutes to get there , well worth it and soon to return. Deserts all sounded lovely but the apple pie and donuts went down very well.

From the initial great the staff are just devine, friendly and helpful and service all round you could not fault. Menu choices and authentic dishes did not disappoint. Food presentation, portion size, quality and taste were all excellent and overall I would definitely give this a 10 out of 10

We're regulars at Bartellas, especially the Sunday roast. The roast was excellent, as always. My partner had the sticky lamb, which was (far) too sweet (OK its meant to be sweet, but this was excessive). Service is great (as always here). We noticed that prices have gone up (again I understand the cost pressures on restaurants), but at just over £80 for 2 courses (including 2 small drinks, 2 coffees, plus service) it starting to get expensive. (It's really hard to give it other than 5 stars, but there are small issues that make it "very good" not "excellent").

Dined here with a friend, and the high spot was undoubtedly a) the salt n pepper beef starter and b) The service from Katie and Abbie, two staff who knew the menu and advised wisely on wine choices. Will return, and I urge you to try here- you’ll like it!

Very disappointed very expensive for what I got. I ordered jacket potato with prawns with salad. Potato was very small looked like a frozen one that you can buy box of 4. Prawns small & well salad was few leaves & small amount of cropped up yellow & red peppers. The cost of that was £14.99 - yes over priced.

Good food as always. it was delicious. The service was a bit hit and miss, with the wrong items ordered ( but was very tasty). The venue is very tiny and it felt like the waiters were staring at us throughout the whole meal. It was also extremely hot.the air con was not on . But the food is delicious so I would go again.

What a delight to visit a restaurant, where quality of food and service are delivered in a calm and understated room in Bury St Edmunds. We enjoyed our lunch immensely and will return, probably as often as our age permits. The staff know their onions (and other vegetables) and are helpful and polite. A most imaginative menu, complimented by wines of a very different etymology. My wife had a Japanese white, subtle and delicate, I had a Greek red, with a mix of lovely "warm" and lingering flavours. Thank you Isobel for looking after us so well (she even brought me a teaspoon so that I could enjoy every drop of the most delightful "gravy".
