Bueno in Dacorum

Tried this pizza restaurant in Berkhamsted for the first time for Bank Holiday dinner at 7.30pm. The whole experience was very strange. Not really sure how a restaurant like this exists in Berkhamsted as it is completely different to all other restaurants in the area. They didn’t seem to have anything in stock. There was one guy running the place. He said he only had 2 orange drinks left so my kids had orange and I had to go for a Diet Coke even though thats not what I wanted!! . How can a restaurant not have any drinks? I ordered Piccante pizza which should have had chilli peppers and oregano, sausage and red peppers on it. It came with only sausages and red peppers on top. So he clearly did not have the ingredients in stock to put on the pizza. What a complete joke! So it was just lots of red peppers with a few slices of sausages with no flavour at all. See photo. 2 kids and 2 adults we had 4 pizzas and 4 soft drinks for £63 which for a place like this is a complete waste of money. It was cash only so they don’t accept cards yet he did not have enough cash for giving change back. The whole experience was just odd. Not sure if we were there on a bad day or if its always like that but we will most certainly not be returning. When you order a pizza you expect all the ingredients specified on the menu to be put on the pizza!!

Amazing food and authentic Italian cuisine, the staff were friendly and attentive even when rushed off their feet. Most importantly it tasted great!!

This had to be, hands down, the best pizza I have ever had in the UK. Light, cheesy, fresh and delicious. Martin is a fantastic host and excellent chef too, creating a warm and welcoming dining atmosphere and making sure every need is taken care of. He even closed late, offering for us to enjoy our desserts without a rush before heading home. 10/10 across the board. Grazi!

We had 2 pizzas and some chilli sauce. The pizzas were good, not much heat in the chilli sauce. The service was great and the little restaurant was really cute.

Best pizzas in town, that simple. End of! A lovely little place just off the main road, parking behind tesco is very close. Is pretty much run single handedly by the owner, I've seen him on the phone with one hand and spinning a pizza base with the other before. He's always friendly and polite, pizzas are always made with pride and never fail to be top quality. I think pricing is very reasonable also. There's a small garden/patio area so you can sit outside otherwise there is inside seating available . Visit this little gem and help support small local businesses too.

Really good pizzas. Friendly, definitely worth a visit. Forgotten by many locals - big mistake - this is a little gem! They don't sell alcohol but are very happy for you to bring your own.

i booked a table for a saturday night expecting the place to have some atmosphere. when i arrived there was no one there, can now see what the other reviews were talking about. i ordered a pizza and the person i was with ordered pasta, the pizza was okay but my friend said the pasta was bland and she couldn’t eat it all. thought the staff would be on the ball considering the lack of customers in there but this waitress was slow and impolite. the advertised coffee was also not available and i had been told the coffee machine hasn’t worked in years! disappointment after disappointment. will never be coming back.

What a gem of a restaurant. The food, the service the atmosphere were A1+. 3 pizza's and one pasta dish and we all agreed it was delicious. There was a lot of 'mmmm, this is good' going on. I am a serious foody and I loved it all. The pizza bases were light and delicious and the toppings were great. I could go on and on and on and describe every delicious bite but that would get very boring. Worth skipping the express place and trying this restaurant. Do have the dessert, the Tiramisu was de-light-ful

Love this place so much! I'm always surprised to get a table, there should be a queue at the door. Wonderful food and a great feel to the place.

The most delicious pizza I ever had since I moved to this area. Highly recommended if you are seeking the taste , the only thing I did not like , they could have managed the place well buy redesigning the interior of the cafe. Excellent service

A good friend of mine was recommended this restaurant so we thought we’d try it out. Unbeknown to our suprise that there was one person taking orders, serving food, clearing tables, cooking food, and taking takeaway orders. After being in the restaurant for 10 minutes we already knew that this was an impossible task for one person, and we were quite worried as to how one member of staff could undertake 5 jobs at once. there were people arriving for takeaway pizza and one man looked at us and said “have you been fed yet?”- from this point we realised.. damn, we shouldn’t have come here!our starters arrived. We both ordered a “prawn cocktail”-large chunks of ice burg lettuce cut on a plate, with some red onion, and a ring of cherry tomatos, with some defrosted anaemic looking prawns in the centre of the plate, and a dollop of sea food sauce on the side. Interesting, no seasoning, and not enough sauce! i could see the chef making this and he cut everything free hand and pretty much chucked it on the plate (i wish i took a picture of this)45 minutes later our mains arrivedi ordered a spaghetti bolognese and a friend of mine ordered creamy chicken and oregano pasta. I heard the microwave “ding” twice, and i knew instantatly that those dings meant our dinner was ready!i saw the chef put the pasta from one bowl into the serving bowl for us to eat, he then had a bag of grated mozzarella which he threw on top. the mozzarella tasted like plastic. When you go to an italian restaurant, usually the waiter grates the cheese infront of you and gives you some cracked black pepper. certainly not in this case!it was absolutely disgusting, dry, and flavourless- i had burnt pasta on my plate, one would think, how on earth could you burn pasta if it’s cooked in water? i am more than convinced that i paid £11:50 for a microwave ready meal- most likely a tescos own brand spag bowl from across the road. My friend could not eat her food either as it made her feel sick. Luckily she didn’t have any burnt bits like i did!I would say to whoever owns this restaurant, please invest in more staff to be able to do the job of actually running a restaurant properly. It is an impossible task for one person to run a restuarant that could seat around 15-20 peopleIf the person running the restuarant IS the owner, then i suggest you hire some staff, because you’re not doing a very good jobi can’t believe i actually paid for this food, but i wanted to get out as quickly as possible, and the chef was far too busy to deal with a complaint. The fact this restaurant has 5 starts has blown my mind, but after all, it is 2020!

Ordered a takeaway this evening, had to wait longer than advised for collection and when we got home found that it was the wrong order. Rang to advise and then drove back to pick up the correct order - had to wait again and very disappointed at the lack of apology/lack of any sort of goodwill gesture. Won’t be using again.

Overall, a nice pizza restaurant, just would be even better with decent staffing levels that are more friendly, smiley and less rushed. Moreover, I sincerely hope they improve their hygiene levels relating to Covid etc including disinfecting tables between guests at a minimum. Also considering they are charging up to £15 for some pizzas i would suggest using higher quality ingredients. I personally wouldnt come back as there are better options in the area e.g. Da Vincis in Tring, but the place is far better than chains like Pizza Express etc. Restaurant was cosy yet stuffy in the heat. Garden area was nice and secluded. Staff were quite rushed yet efficient. Only 2 staff on site, running around the whole time. Not especially friendly or welcoming. The lady waitress/owner had poor english skills and was unsure which pizza options were available or what was on the seafood pizza. She was helpful but had an unfriendly demeanor. When we asked for the rain cover when the storm started it was like a chore to her to stop everyone getting drenched. Male waiter was not wearing his mask properly, it did not cover his nose so was pointless and dangerous. Also as we arrived and took our table from couple leaving they did not disinfect tables or area at all. Concerning considering pandemic. They both were not wearing gloves and kept swapping between cooking and handling money with customers which was deeply concerning also. Food was good, pizza dough was soft and springy, good taste and presentation. Toppings themselves were on same standard of quality as some takeaway shops unfortunately. Asked for gorgonzola on my pizza, then had to check it was even put on as so bland in taste. Tiramisu was recommended, was fine, quite heavy, double cream was used.I prefer a lighter dish that isn't so sickly sweet and hard to finish. Prices were fine, however we were astounded that they charged £8 for some bruschetta (tomatoes on toasted bread) which is extortionate.

Incredible, unpretentious, Italian pizza. A brilliant lunchtime deal as well. Better than Pizza Express and other chains by a mile.

If you haven’t tried Bueno yet, please do!We was let down by a mainstream restaurant yesterday as they couldn’t find our booking so we rang bueno, they made us a lovely table in the garden for 7 straight away! The food was fantastic! They don’t serve alcohol but you’re allowed to bring you’re own. There was only one member of staff (the chef) who served us and cooked seven meals, all piping hot and delicious and very cheap! Please give them a try ☺️

I am in the older age range and have been wary of eating out since Covid 19 We tried eating in the restaurant garden here as one of my first dining out experiences. It was a really good experience and I was particularly impressed by the high level of hygiene, social distancing and total attention to my needs as a slightly nervous customer. The food was of course good, the garden seating is lovely and I was able to enjoy it all even more because the chef and staff were so helpful and I felt protected. We often ate in this restaurant before Covid and I always knew the hygiene standard was very high, but must say I have even more respect for this venue since my recent visit. The service and staff methods were exceptional. I text my family to say I had eaten out there on Saturday and was amused to find my 19 year old grandchild had eaten in the restaurant with a friend earlier that day. She also said it was great, so it is obvious this venue attracts all age groups!A big thank you to the staff who served us that night. Totally surprised at the great pizza’s from Bueno Pizza and highly recommended. Super fresh, perfect bases and great toppings. Order was quick and service great and best prices in Berkhamsted. Support your local not the chains. Would share picture but we ate it all :)

Disappointing and overpriced . Tiny pizzas at a price of a high end restaurant. The taste is nowhere close to Italian. Sorry.

Just picked up 3 pizzas (can’t eat in due to covid). Great pizzas - really enjoyed these! Will order again!

This place is a little gem. Only seats about 20 but always has a nice, buzzy atmosphere. It's a BYO restaurant and they don't charge corkage so you can bring your own lovely wine to go with their truly excellent pizza. They make the pizza dough freshly, in-house and it shows in the quality of the food. Garlic bread excellent too and salads very generous and beautifully presented. Would not hesitate to recommend.

Didn't know what to expect but was more than pleasantly surprised. A small venue with seating for about 20 and no alcohol licence but the food was amazing. The prices of the dishes were very reasonable and the service was quick and non-invasive. Would recommend this little gem of a place whole heartedly

This amazing little place has got us back to appreciating pizzas again. They are honestly the best we've ever had; so succulent and tasty. Bueno absolutely deserves all the accolades it has here. Pastas are also available, but we haven't tried those yet, so can't comment, but I'd imagine the quality will be up there with the pizzas. Don't miss it!

We had pasta here which in hindsight was a mistake as I believe its speciality is Pizza, the pasta was just ok and I wouldn't have it again.

Early afternoon the person who makes coffee wasn't in!

Just popped in here for a quick pizza lunch with my kids. We all loved eating our delicious pizzas whilst sat in the sun-trap garden. We could have been in italy! And enjoyed the complementary tomatoes and olives to nibble, as well as garlic mayo and chilli sauce. Highly recommend.

Have been living in Berko for three years and still discovering new places to eat. Great little restaurant off the high street and definitely the best take away pizza for miles around.

My friends and I decided to try Bueno after looking at the great reviews and we were not disappointed. We met the owner and I have now booked my 50th here in August. Great pizzas, lovely outside suntrap area and attentive service. I hope more people will try this place. Plus take away service available. Thumbs up from us.

Well this time we tried the Pollo , Pruscetto & Pizza Vicanti and as before these were amazing . You can tell the Pizzas are fresh and with good ingredients.

Ordered pizzas from Bueno last night and they were so delicious. The guy apologised that they were busy and our order would take 20 minutes - I thought that was really quick for four large pizzas with different toppings! Really good menu with lots of variety too, loads of options for vegetarians, and much better value than the other chain pizza brands. We ordered takeaway but the outdoor seating area looks really nice, will definitely be back to try it out.

As one of a party of 12 we arrived for supper last Saturday. The weather was warm and we were able to sit outside. The menu was pizza's and pasta's but quite extensive. It is almost impossible to serve more than about 2 or 3 pizzas at a time but there was no real waiting once the first arrived....and weren't they worth waiting for. They were delicious and served by a readily smiling charming and welcoming assistant. Some of the party had ice-creams which looked inviting and scrummy. It is only a small restaurant but really worth a visit. No licence at present so take your own wine which incurs a £5 corkage.

Execellent food that didn't take long. Very nice cosy atmosphere with a large outer garden including heater and protection from rain. Friendly welcoming staff. Possibly the only place in berkhamsted to offer a BYOB option, with a very respectfully corkage charge. Must visit for good pizza and delicy starters.

Best pizza in berko half price of domino's

I ate here recently with my wife. We shared a good authentic pizza of the thin and crusty type. The woman doing front of house was helpful and efficient.

We went as two families - 8 of us. We booked a table which was completely unnecessary as we were the only people eating there. When we arrived we should have been informed that the one man working there was going to be serving drinks, cooking our food and serving our food. If he had told us this, we would have left. The poor bloke was running around all evening doing everything, including taking calls for takeaway orders and cooking those take away orders. He was sweating profusely when he came out of the kitchen to serve our food and clear our plates-this really put me off my food. As pizzas go, they were nice, but not when you imagine the amount of sweat that would have dripped on to them!!!! I wish we had left and gone somewhere else when we realised the set up. It was like a cafe with the radio playing, really poor atmosphere. Don’t understand how all the other reviews are 5 stars!!! This restaurant has the potential to do better. It’s just ridiculous to only have one person working there.

Last night, my wife and I ate at Bueno. I had never been but my wife had, and had high praise for the place. I can honestly say it was the best pizza I had ever eaten, let alone the best in Berkhamsted. The 10inch was more than enough and the side salad for only £ 3.00 was stupendous. Puddings at £ 2.50 must be the best value in town.

Absolutely love this place, complete hidden gem. Lovely food and great staff, needs more appreciation!

We have eaten (mainly take out's) on numerous occasions & always find the food of exceptional quality. A very friendly independent restaurant offering very good quality food at a reasonable price.

Great food and service. Pasta and Pizza plus some lovely starters. Also very reasonably priced. Note they dont sell alcohol but are happy for you to bring you own for a small corkage fee.

Didn't know it was there as I've been ill and not out anywhere. Lunch for my mothers birthday and it was great. Lucky to be able to sit outside but would not have minded if that wasn't possible. Pizzas were delicious, the service was lovely, side salad was more than enough for two. Didn't have room for dessert but based on other comments I got a portion of tiramisu to take home. I don't really eat pudding but this was the best tiramisu I have ever had. Light as a feather, not too sweet and frankly fabulous as was everything else. Please go. You won't be disappointed.

The food was amazing... the service was so quick and professional, better than any chain restaurant we have been to. The man serving us was cooking and serving tables and was absolutely brilliant! Definitely recommend this to everyone.

We visited Bueno for the second time last week and it didn't disappoint. The pizzas are delicious, mainly because they have such a light base so they just melt in your mouth. I can particularly recommend the Quatro Formaggi. Great coffee too. We didn't have desserts but will on another occasion. Service was quick and friendly and we were pointed to a small garden at the side of the restaurant which we hadn't seen on our first visit. Pizza al fresco, what's not to like. We will be back.

Been coming here for over a year now and even though I live out of the area the Pizza is by far the best around. Great service and BYOB.

Not really one to leave reviews on here, but for those pizza aficionados out there, you have to go to this place. Easily the best pizza I've has in some time.

My 3rd visit to this little restaurant last night and it did not disappoint. Sadly we were the only diners, but the atmosphere was friendly and warm. The pizzas are quite the best you will ever eat! Thin and crispy and absolutely delicious. Pizza express is awful in comparison. This place is a hidden gem. Charming owner who bends over backwards to give you what you want, nothing is too much trouble and the BYOB aspect keeps the cost down, although it is cheaper and better than the chains

Popped in at the last minute last Saturday and was impressed by the simplicity of this place. It's a Bistro/ cafe style establishment and if you want to drink alcohol, you need to bring your own. Pizzas were the best I've tasted in the UK (possibly with the exception of one or two of the London independents) and easily beats the chains. Reasonably priced too. We will be back!

Visited this little place the other day, I can see is coming back for a very long time. It is simple but perfect, they are gonna need a bigger building soon! Pizza picante is to die for and homemade tiramisu is amazing!

Booked for a Sunday lunchtime expecting the place to be busy. Turned up on time and were the only people in the place. Ordered one pizza and two pasta main courses served with a garlic mozzarella pizza bread. Pizza was ok (Tuna & Sweetcorn) but both pasta dishes were bland. The chicken looked like the frozen portions you can buy and looked/tasted rubbery. The vegerterian pasta served with cream sauce was watery. Service was efficient, as you would expect for an empty eatery. Staff was non committal when I said why we didn't enjoy the food. I don't like to leave neither reviews epically of a local business, but with the competition in the area they need to improve.

Popped in here to get a pizza on the way home late one afternoon.

Been a few times now and it is consistent. Friendly service. Food is fresh and colourful. Love that you can take your own bottle of wine/beer (corkage due)
