Zaza Berkhamsted in Dacorum

Another faultless dining experience, though the dishes were slightly different to what we are used to it turned out a temporary chef was working but it was all good. We had the prawn starter with garlic butter and mozzarella parcels, carbonara, filled chicken pasta and linguine with crab for mains, with Tiramisu and strawberry cheesecake for pudding, with a soft drink, one pint and a bottle of white it came to £140 inclusive of service.

What a find, in a town full of restaurants, this is one of the best. Close to the Waitrose store (so lots of parking, which is at a premium) and the station (just off the high street), this is a grown up restaurant. Decor is subtle, but the inside tree decor look great. The menu is outstanding. I could have eaten almost everything. There were 4 of us, and we each chose something different: for starters, the bruschetta, the goats cheese tart, meatballs on polenta chips, and salmons crostini. Beautifully presented and extremely tasty. For mains, the lamb ragu fettuccine, calves liver, pollo Diablo and a salmon dish. The puds were delicious- panacotta and cheesecake. Red wine, soft drinks and coffee, wow what a meal. Staff were attentive and polite. Cannot recommend it highly enough, we will definitely be back.

We found the service far too rushed and almost unfriendly. There was no feeling of ‘you are welcome and take your time’ . The food is reasonable but by no means exceptional and very generic Italian, the Trofie al Pesto is something you would never have been served in Italy (Tomatoes with Pesto!!!), we really found we were in a chain brand, nothing is special or particularly individual, or classically Italian. It had a bit of a ‘fast food’ chain, but where you could have a bottle of wine and sit for the allotted time. Will try next door, next time.

Cannot recommend this place enough! There was a really nice atmosphere, very friendly and professional staff and great food. Will definitely return to Zaza and would highly recommend in to anyone.

Second time here and just as good as the first time. Very good service and excellent food at a very reasonable price. Tables are a little close to each other and atmosphere is lively and a bit loud at times, but overall a very enjoyable lunch.

This was my first time here me and my partner and my son and his wife we absolutely had a great evening the food and staff were outsanding that's why i give it five 🌟

Really nice place to eat. Great food, service and atmosphere good too. If you are one of those people who prefer a quiet meal then you need to check with restaurant to see if they have any times when it is quieter as it is a very popular place. No parking at restaurant, however there are car parks not too far from the restaurant. Having said all that, I would recommend it, I loved the place and will go back when I can.

Love coming here but slightly disappointed with the evening 2 course set menu. Usually it's starter or dessert and main. This was just starter and mains. Bonus being a bottle of wine each. (To take home if unfinished). Slightly marred by the £10 service charge...had i known i could have refused this i would have. The male servers were very polite and attentive. The one female server was very abrupt and almost scarey.

First time at zaza,took my daughter there as a birthday treat. They have a tree in the restaurant with it's branches spread out across the ceiling, i don't know if the tree is real but it's wonderful. The food is lovely and as my daughter can't have gluten, there were options that she could have. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We had our meal at lunchtime and was really impressed. I recently visited ZAZA with friends and the experience was very pleasant. The restaurant has a cozy and authentic atmosphere, perfect for enjoying a good dinner. The food is very delicious, with a wide variety of Italian dishes prepared with fresh, quality ingredients. Its wine list also stands out, offering an excellent selection to accompany the meal. The service is attentive and friendly, which contributes to a very positive overall experience. "ZAZA" is an excellent option to enjoy Italian cuisine in good company.

Fantastic family dinner at Zaza. Staff were super helpful and friendly, especially given our 1 year old was with us. Dealt with an incident from another table extremely professionally, whereby a table that was some way away had apparently asked staff to tell us to leave the restaurant because our 1 year old was talking too loud! Ridiculous and extremely rude however staff dealt with everything amazingly and made us feel welcome and at ease, given it’s a family restaurant and it was early evening. Thanks for the lovely meal.

Great atmosphere, good service, however the swordfish steak was a bit bland. The other meals were good though. Typical restaurant in Berkhamsted, slightly expensive for what you get, but a very lively place to eat.

Booked a table for myself, my sister and mum, to celebrate mum's birthday. Well, the place was buzzing when we got there, early evening and it didn't stop. Firstly they brought a glass of fizz for mum as a little birthday gift, now that was a pleasant surprise. The service from start to finish to excellent and the food outstanding. And to top it off the bill wasn't too terrible either. A great night was had we had by us all. And from the sound of the buzz in the restaurant everyone else was having a good too.

Always good food here ~ our family's favourite restaurant (locally) and good friendly service too. Bit miffed we were charged nearly £10 for service on bill, but more eating places seem to be doing this now, rather than relying on tips .... otherwise, can't really fault it at all ! Certainly WELL recommended ! Update 2024 : still great steaks here, and attentive service tonight. Love the food, but not so keen on the 12.5% service charge automatically added to bill.

10 of us accommodated perfectly, served, and looked after efficiently. Got to go back, lots on the menu to eat. Great starters, mains and deserts. Parking is the harder task.

Overall great food and service 😋 only downside was the tiny bottles of coke each time,3 mouthfuls, and it's gone, why don't you have on tap? Or sell by bigger size as this racked the bill u. It would have been cheaper to buy beer than soft drinks! Abit of a con really !!

was serve by julia came in for my boyfriends 21st came over with a glass of prosecco on the house, the food was good and didn’t have to wait long then also gave us a small piece of dessert and sang happy birthday felt so welcome would definitely recommend

Fantastic meal out. All 3 of my courses were delicious. Bit of problem with a vegetarians dish but otherwise a great few hours spent. Service was slow but hey-ho.

We don’t usually like Italian food, but this was really really good. My whole family was impressed, we would deffo return. Very delicious food, my partner said the steak he had was the best steak he’s ever eaten, and that compares to some very expensive steakhouses in London !!

Top-notch atmosphere but the food and service disappointed me a little. I had the Lamb Shank which wasn't great but my friends seemed to enjoy their meal, Spaghetti Meatball looked good. I will revisit and try different items on the menu and potentially edit the review

Beautiful location and place just a shame that the staff were more interested in gossiping and being on there phones rather then paying there customer attention. The food was great could not fault it at all just the staff have let this place down

Came here for a birthday celebration as a group of four. The food, service and atmosphere was excellent. The linguine pescatore was probably the best pasta dish I have ever eaten! Highly recommend and can’t wait to return

Just returned from a thoroughly enjoyable dinner at Zaza's. Sadly the atmosphere was a little flat but that was down to the fact that the day before New Years Eve, it was very empty, which was understandable. Good food at reasonable prices - cant ask for much more

Form my most recent visit I brought a group of friends. The food was typically excellent and despite it being a busy evening in the run-up to Christmas, the service was swift, polite and helpful.

Food was good, well priced and delivered reasonably quickly. The staff were rather overly enthusiastic in checking how enjoyable was the food.

We had a great experience at this special restaurant. The food was amazing and really tasty, especially the tiramisu (nice twist). The service was smooth and we felt like it was taken care on a high level. It exceed our expectation for a good price. Special tanks to Alex for his care towards his customers. Visited Zaza in Berkhamsted for the first time tonight. I went in earlier in the day and booked a table for dinner for 6pm Saturday night. When we went back at 6pm we were shown to our table upstairs - we didn’t know there was an upstairs. Both downstairs and upstairs are very nice. We loved everything about this restaurant. The staff were all amazing - every one of them. All very attentive and polite and helpful. This is now our favourite restaurant - not sure why we had not tried it earlier! It is clearly very busy all the time and you need to book. The food was amazing. We tried various foods and everything was fantastic. The kids menu is great and big portions so my kids were very happy. Loved all the starters, mains and desserts. I loved my goats cheese starter and my prawn and salmon pasta. The affogatto for dessert was so good. No negatives at all. Will definitely be going back with more family members soon.

We’re not local so really look forward to coming here when we can. We always get the same thing, the seafood pasta and lamb ragu but we love that the menu doesn’t change as I love knowing my favourite meal will be available! My Nan is a bit of a fussy eater and they changed the crab linguine to not have cream with no issues so it shows it’s freshly cooked which is great. The atmosphere here is great and feels like a nice place for dinner. The staff are a great and attentive and professional. Would recommend to anyone especially for fresh food.

The food was fresh and tasty! Service was super quick with our drinks. However, there wasn’t a garden where as if they had a garden it would’ve been good for a hot summer day. Other than that, the atmosphere was pretty with the trees and agriculture along with fruit paintings.

Lovely meal, our waiter was a bit slow to bring some things, but the food more than made up for it.

We are regular visitors to ZaZa’s Berkhamsted and this latest meal didn’t disappoint. Service was friendly and efficient, despite being full (which is fairly normal). Although the menu doesn’t change, there is plenty of choice and the specials are always tempting. We had a variety of starters but the prawns in the tomato sauce were excellent. Two of our party had the steaks, which were perfectly cooked and high quality meat. I had a pasta dish with seafood which was delightful. The side dishes are also full of flavour. Highly recommended. In a town with several good restaurants, this place is very reliable.

If you enjoy and appreciate good, authentic Italian cuisine.... and in a relaxing atmosphere.... coupled with attentive service then treat yourself to Zaza's in Berkhamsted. Yesterday lunchtime, with my two sons, is exactly what we did. Absolutely brilliant. We will return! Promise!

Have been coming here for a few years and have always found it nice. Wasn't impressed today...and I am not one for complaining.. I took my dad out for lunch..I had mushrooms and carbonara off the lunch menu, my dad had mushrooms and risotto off the main menu. I had 4 mushrooms and cress my dad had 5 mushrooms and a load of salad.. . Always had the same before.. carbonara came..was quite dry, not a lot of sauce. Almost £70 for lunch with 1 coke zero and 1 tap water. Won't be rushing back. 😒

Birthday celebrations lovely evening

Awesome Italian experience, great atmosphere, I did take some great company with me so that may reflect in the review. Goats cheese starter - was sublime, smooth and melty texture, and an unxious flavour that was cut through perfectly by the pickles. Rib eye steak, cooked to perfection, and the peppercorn sauce was also divine. It comes with chips, but thin and little ones, which is my only problem.....should have been thrice cooked fat chips, but a small niggle. I know I had dessert, but the Peroni, glass of Rose, and 3 glasses of Chianti meant I don't remember that part.....all good, I'm a happy chappy!

We booked a table and we were glad we did. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the food was delicious and the price reasonable. We will return in the future and recommend this restaurant to everyone.

Visited yesterday with a friend and had a beautiful meal and experience. We shared the Pesto and tomato flatbread, which was definitely enough for 2 to share. I had Amatriciana which was delicious, fresh and reminded me of the exact dish I'd had in Rome earlier this year. We finished with a beautiful chocolate layered dessert which I'd highly recommend. The setting was gorgeous and the staff were very friendly. We shared a starter and dessert, had a main each and a gin and lemonade each and the bill was just £70. Bargain!

I had calamari ...very small rings very crispy, not the best. I then had spaghetti with veal escalopes spaghetti good nice sauce but the veal dry and over cooked. Possibly cooked twice very dry indeed. I think they may have a new chef. If the previous chef was 71\2 or 8 out of ten this one only gets 4 out of ten from me A new chef please We went Saturday at 8pm. Our waitress was lovely.

delicious risotto, all members of staff are lovely and will check up on you or say hi as you walk past! very quick service yummy desert! best cheesecake ever so so soft and creamy with lovely ice cream and amaretti biscuit!
