Cash only. Good way to lose what could be a reoccurring customer as this is our local. I’ll always pay cash when I have it but on the occasion I don’t, you should take card.

Had Cod special fried while waited it was very hot and very nice only7.50 slightly smaller than normal portions but fine.Its one of if not best fish shop in Southend area

I don’t remember enjoying chicken and chips like this since I can remember! Quarter chicken, chips and a curry sauce was absolutely fantastic. Would highly reccomend. Proper chippy!

Fish Inn of London road, leigh on sea Essex have always provided the best fish & chips for many years. We travel 5 miles to get our fish & chips supper. It's certainly worth every penny. Well done Steve and his team ! Chris of Thundersley

Solid chippy, freshly made fish and chips and all the other options to boot. Friendly staff, not entirely sure on the charging Vs the menu. However the fish and chips tasted good and healthy portions.

I had read the great reviews and went this evening to buy fish and chips full of anticipation. The shop was packed and the smell was delicious, but that is as far as it went. On ordering I was told that it was cash only!! I had no cash on me and left empty handed to go somewhere else and ended up very disappointed with that. Come on - in this day and age it is time to come into the 21st century!

Arguably the best fish and chip shop in Southend. There's sometimes a wait especially on a Friday, the reason being it's extremely popular due to the quality of their fish and chips. Portion sizes are very generous, the fish fresh and cooked to perfection. Prices are reasonable, staff friendly and helpful. A real gem that's definitely worth a visit!

Best fish and chip shop in the area. But due to poor communication whilst everyone was wearing masks I was given "roe" instead of the "roll" that I ordered.

This is seriously one of the best, no frills, no fancy decor, no fancy lighting, just a proper Chippy serving superb Chips and lovely Fish, the batter is just right the fish meaty and soft , large size really is LARGE and hangs off the plate nothing changes here it’s reliable and has stood the test of time, generations of the family still running it, they stick to what they know best.

We've been using this place a while now, quality is always top notch and portions generous. When they were closed over Xmas, tried another shop up the London Rd. OK but not as good on any level. Only take cash, and you usually have to wait a bit, but the haddock in particular is well worth it.

Its lively fresh fish nice chips plenty on salt and vinegar fills that space.

Best fish and chips I've ever eaten. ALWAYS fab!! BTW I've eaten alot of fish and chips up and down the country.

My wife and I will not eat anywhere else. The chips are always crisp and cooked to perfection with no oil (grease) running off them. The fish too is cooked perfectly. We have been buying from fish inn for years now. We have bought from a number of the other's on this site but none come close to them. The small cod is bigger that the large in some of the other f & c shops. In fact we would rather travel home for F & Cs from Fish Inn then buy it elsewhere now days as we know what we are getting.

Ordered chicken nuggets, fish and chips with curry sauce, and sausage and chips. Chicken nuggets were half cooked and inedible. Sauce for the fish tasted wrong and following morning had upset tummy from the food. Very disappointed as usually the food is good. Wary of buying from them again.

The fish was large and very nice but the chips were terrible just like a mush of grease in a pulp so a bit disappointed. Service was excellent and everyone was very polite and happy. Overall would go again but separated crispy chips please.

Lovely fish and chips served with a smile. My order is always haddock and chips. For our family of three, two fish and one large chips is plenty! The fish is crisp and never too greasy. Fabulous!

Had lunch here yesterday and it was truly superb. We struck lucky as we hadn’t checked ratings beforehand. The food was freshly cooked and delicious.

Always excellent. All the fish is perfectly cooked with very tasty batter. Chips are superb and on the whole the best fish shop I know of.

Just had fish and chip takeaway from here for the first time and was fantastic. It was fresh, not at all greasy and delicious. I’d highly recommend.

This evening me and my partner stoped off at the fish inn we both ordered pie and chips the pie was microwave right in front of us! The chips was undercooked and to top it all off it was daylight robbery! £11 for 2 pies 2 chips wow what a joke

We recently moved house and this was our first time having fish and chips. I was sceptical about ordering due to the look of it from the outside but i am happy to have been proved wrong! I had cod which was enormous and cooked to perfection, and shared a portion of chips with my other half (who had battered sausage). The chips were crisp and tasty - not limp and soggy like chip shop chips often can be. Very happy that this takeaway is our nearest!

Cracking cod and chips here, I’ve been all over Leigh-on-Sea and Southend, this is the best by a mile, quality food and plenty of it. If you don’t believe me, give it a try, you will not be disappointed!

My family have used this chip shop for the best part of 40 years. It is run by the same family that ran it when I was a child. It has always knocked spots off of every other local chippy in our opinion. Lovely food!

Visiting Leigh on Sea and fancied a F&C supper. Delicious cod and chips - and not too greasy! Fish is prepared freshly for you when you order and comes in small, medium & large size - the medium cod plus small chips was plenty of food for 2 hungry adults. Highly recommend this chippy opposite Iceland.

Large Cod hangs off the plate either side i need rectangled plates, its big, its juicy, always fresh cooked, nice batter, best chips around, small is large even the Pickled onions are like snooker balls, its always busy, which is a good sign, cash only no new fangled card machines here, its old school all the way, still wrapped in paper too, don't you just hate those polystyrene cartons or cardboard boxes, none of that here.

WOW! Proper fish and chips. I was looking for a new chippy upon moving to Leigh and after seeing the reviews decided to give it a bash, I was most definitely not disappointed!! All cooked fresh to order and absolutely gorgeous. I'm so lucky to have this as my local! It's well worth a visit!! The staff are all lovely and the prices are fantastic!I've tried the cod, chips and my essential, chicken nuggets. All have been absolutely spot on.

Dont go on the reviews like i did best chippy around dont make me laugh unless you want microwaved rock hard pie and as for the chips aint got a clue what they are about absolutely discusted waste of money these reviews must be family members or made up

Excellent Fish and chips, I had Haddock, wife had Cod, loads to eat even the small portions, went to old Leigh Sea Front to eat them, over looking the sea 😁

I stopped this place to have something quick so I decided to buy the pie what an awfully decision it was very soggy and mushey microwave oven pie never again

If you’re passing though Leigh-on-Sea and you have a hankering for some proper fish and chips then you wouldn’t do better than the Fish Inn. If you live in Leigh-on-Sea then you probably already know it’s the best in town and that you’re probably in for a wait if you want a chip supper on a Friday evening although it’s still worth the wait. If I have one issue it’s that if you want pie and chips they don’t have hot pies waiting they will use a microwave oven to heat one up which tends to leave it soggy instead of crispy, but it’s a small price to pay when the fish is so fresh and the batter golden that it would be a shame to have a pie anyway.

Just driven from Limoges in France and first stop has to be the Fish Inn. Excellent

Consistently very good, never seem to have an off day, fish batter always the same, perfect, chips always perfect, nothing is left sitting around too long after cooking, service always the same, as is the decor, it’s the real thing, has not changed in decades and it should not change either, it don’t get better or batter than this, you don’t need fancy surroundings for quality d&c.Family run through the years.

This is a small, family run business, which has been open for 35+ years. The walls feature pictures of the specific boats that catch their produce - a nice touch - and the fish and chips really are second-to-none.

Called in the Fish Inn for lunch time fish and chips after reading the great reviews online. We were not disappointed! My plaice and chips was perfect and cooked to a crispy exterior and a must and flaky interior. My mum and dad's cod were both perfect too. The chips are the best I've had in ages, and all in all the service we received was second to none. I can't wait to come back to Leigh on Sea and visit Fish Inn again. 10/10.

A fish haven in my doorstep - the £5 deal,enhanced with mushy peas and the special curry sauce is excellent! If funds allow the middle of skate is the best ever!

Traditional style chip shop run by a very nice, hard working family. The fish is always freshly fried, the batter is light and delicious and the chips are good. The best skate wings I have come across in Leigh and without a doubt one of the best places in town. Great value for money and top quality food. Excellent.

You can get a decent portion of fish and chips here, along with the normal pies and sausages. I'ts ok but not the best along the London road!
