Lovely customer service. Best chip shop in Shoebury, 100% recommend!

I have visited West Road Fish every week to get food on a Friday with my family for the last 2 years, the atmosphere and the customer service is amazing. The food is also perfect, couldn’t recommend to others enough.

First time using West Road and was impressed. I placed 20 orders of food for delivery to the beach for a social gathering. Really quick responses to messages. Pre-order provided the day before. All delivered directly from the shop to the beach on time and with loads of extras including salt, bottles of vinegar and sauces plus cutlery. Food was delicious and good portions all boxed. Really reasonable prices too. Great service. Will definitely use again.

Useless place rang an order through at 6:03 told me 10 minutes was getting Chinese opposite so didn't want Chinese to go cold wasn't ready till 6:30 so cold Chinese for me

So very busy tonight and run off thier feet. Plus they had deliveries to do. They didn't stop once just kept going. Even the que went out the door the line kept going on a srmteady stream. No one had to wait to long gor thier food . Girls were great 👍 x

Ordered battered sausage and chips on Wednesday. Found a long brown hair in my chips. Noticed the girl cooking didn't have her hair tied up but they've offered to replace my food

I visited West road fish bar with my family, it is a very hygienic shop with a beautiful atmosphere. Couldn't recommended it enough, will definitely be coming here again.

I use this Chippy regularly and have to say the food is very good. Cod and chips is my preference with both being cooked excellently!! Polite and courteous staff.

Usually grwat, but chips were not up to much today

Can't fault the cod and chips. Mushy peas were ok but the curry sauce was so watery it was unpleasant. Overall still prefer Ness Road Chippy.

We visited as a group of 3 families, 13 people in total. The staff couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. The food was decent, the service superb.

We always have the cod special, which is a smaller piece of cod and a smaller portion of chips. This is more than enough for us. This place is always busy, the staff very friendly and efficient. It has become our go to place.

Served by an extremely dopey young girl, who didn't have a clue. She didn't know who she was serving, what she was serving and the attitude was disgusting. Really not a good front line person, appalling.

Cooked perfectly, not greasy and the thickness of the batter is perfect so it is not heavy on the belly. Also the portions are a nice size.

Recently contacted the shop regarding a neighbourhood jubilee party, Jade was so helpful and nothing was to much trouble, all delivered to the door with no problems on arranged day, the food was 5 star and came complete with accompaniments, would certainly recommend. Thank you so much for making our day.

Random stop after day out at the beach, shop clean and staff super Friendly. We had cod & chips which was cooked fresh while we waited, served in the now standard cardboard box. We sat inside as they have a few tables, would go again if we're in the area.

Saveloy and chips were really nice. Staff were really polite and all in all a wonderful experience. Would recommend this chip shop.

Nice fish and chips but for the love of God the staff in there this Friday evening some c/s training. That said the usual girl with the blonde hair was absolutely fine. I won't cross their threshold ever again.

Had to wait for cod and chips as both are freshly cooked. The fish and the chips were perfect with a light batter on the cod and the chips golden and delicious. Best I’ve had in the area.

I think this restaurant may have changed hands recently? I’ve noticed such a poor difference in the cuts of fish 🐠 also why isn’t the blonde girl cooking anymore?…. Might be time to try a new fish and chip shop..

Oh how things change, having given an exceptional review 2019, this has all changed, went in again recently 9within 2 weeks ) of this review, found staff arguing, my order was taken and while a waited and watched other people order after me then leave with their order, I questioned what was happening with my order only to be told the arguing lady had not bothered to put my fish in whilst serving up burnt scampi. I requested my money back only to find that I was short changed. my i suggest that people look else where in shoeburyness for better service and food. I will not be returning

I've been back to this fish bar several times since my original review of August 2020. Lesson learned - do not accept already cooked food UNLESS your server can guarantee it's not been hanging around. Select your meal from the hot cabinet at your peril - soggy fish and dried out chips. Mid-week is quieter but Friday is buzzing. You'll have to wait a bit but your food will be freshly cooked to order. This possibly accounts for the extremes of variables in the reviews.

Use this venue at least twice per month for the last 8 years.. Quality is always consistent, have tried others but no comparison...Scampi perfect! Always cheerful, friendly and helpful staff too.(Avoid school closing times if you don't like children!)

Just had takeaway. Cast iron batter surrounding cotton wool. In the bin. How they had the cheek to call that cod I dont know. Chips were pretty awful.

I have been going to this chip shop for years and it has always been excellent. The staff are polite, the service is quick and the food is always of a high standard. At the end of the day its a fish and chip shop but I have no complaints and will continue to go there. Its worth noting that during school term times, lunchtime does get crowded and sitting in to eat may not be as quiet as it could be. My advice? Avoid school lunchtimes. Other than that, as a local chip shop I can thoroughly recommend it.

Ordered fish and chips and wholley had to ask someone to get it for me and what a let down on the chips they should have gone in the bin ready for the fresh ones to replace them instead they ended up my bin unsatisfied customer

We went to a friend's beach hut for a fish & chips supper, which is how I found out about the place. The cod and chops were cooked to perfection, with generous portions too. Repeated the event two week's later at home but with the addition of a battered sausage for my daughter which she said was delicious and not at all oily. Although we don't have take out food that often, I will definitely return to this fish bar again in the future.

We used the 40% off promotion. Very nice fish supper!

The West Road Fish Bar is one of these places that serve very tasty Fish and Chips albeit there is a wait for a good reason, they are cooked fresh and therefore one has to wait especially if there are people in front of you. The Staff are friendly and helpful and all in all in little gem in Shoeburyness

I have had what can only be described as the best ever Fish and Chips, having traveled most of the UK, and eaten in more towns than I can remember. The batter was crisp and light with the whitest Cod The chips were Crisp on the outside and fluffy potato in the centre, You can choose between once or twice fried chips (that's a first) all cooked to order so piping hot, well worth a visit when you are in the mood for fish and chips or in shoebury visiting.

Didn't get in as the assistant put a notice up to say they will be back in 15 minutes

sorry to say standards have slipped used to be good but for the last few times I have used this shop the fish has been overcooked and last night the chips were undercooked plus I found a long blonde hair in the mushy peas so I won't be going there again

This really is the truth - you would not expect this in a residential area however these fish and chips and saveloy and chips were the best we have had ever. Great quality good portion size - so happy to find this location rather than in main Southend

They say you are getting old when policemen look young ! To me all the staff look like they are about 12 ! That being said I've never had a bad meal from them. Decent portions, well cooked. It's a bit off the tourist route so it's probably frequented by locals but if you are visiting and lost it's well worth a visit ;-)

We use this quite often, it’s run by youngsters who are all local polite and friendly . They do lovely fresh cod in crispy batter , pies , battered sausages normal stuff which is always good On my way back from work when we can’t be bothered to cook .
