Poor portion sizes, average. Il stick to nessys. Owner replied to this rudely telling me to provide a receipt and go to the store or he will report my review as a scam!? But they never gave a receipt!? I just didn't like the food it's not personal

Poor chips and poor portion sizes. Asked for curry sauce, got home and realised gave me mushy peas. Won't be going back. Service was average.

Watched driver wander round estate, I tried to get his attention 3 times just ignored me. Heard someone tell him where Ash Court was still went to another wrong address

Had a lovely chippy takeaway from here tonight.The staff are super friendly and the food was lovely. If you enjoy fish and chips with a difference, this is the place to go. I tried my first battered mars bar which was delightful. It was skillfully done as it was literally a melted mars bar in batter, not the gooey mess i expected. Also the battered savoly was somthing to behold ! Five stars 🌟

Horrible, chips where barely cooked, soggy, oily, and all stuck together,the batter on the fish was also soggy drenched in oil, you have no pride in what you are serving, never ordering again.

Haven’t tried the fish and chips yet but they do an amazing battered mars bar was so nice 💯 recommend 😋

Delivery driver found us quickly which can be a nightmare. Curry sauce was awful, separated and watery even when mixed, had to throw. Rest really nice

At last..a great local fish and chip shop!! Over the years, I think we have tried almost every Chippy in and around Southend, most being very disappointing, and the rest good one day and not so good the next, and so on. But West Road fish bar is now delivering a consistently high quality service, and last night's Large Haddock was probably the best I have ever had. We have used this shop, on and off, for many years, and I must admit that it had started to lose some of its edge, but it has now bounced back better than ever, I think being somewhat due to a new style of management and personnel. The only let down is that we are now eating more fish and chips than is probably good for us!!!....keep it up.

How do you mess up chips? This is probably the ONLY fish and chips bar at shoeburyness/around the area... Fish was mid, mostly just crunchy, and the chips were some of the worst I've had. The saveloy was tough as a brick wall and had a similar flavouring to oxygen. The chips were sort of like saggy, oily bags of mushy potato. Only come here if you have nowhere else.

The haddock special was a childs portion of fish. Have ordered this many times and had a medium fish. They have reduced the fish to half the size with no warning. Will not order from them again.

The chips were undercooked and the large cod was very small to be honest, it’s a shame, my family really couldn’t finish their food unfortunately.

Everytime I come into the shop, I am greeted with excellent customer service and fast service. All staff are very polite and cater to my needs. I come into the shop on a regular basis, and am extremely impressed with the food every single time.

The chips were mostly the hard bits you get left at the bottom, really need to do better, it's people's money being spent at the end of the day

Awful. Bowl of warm mush. Mash and stuffing dominated the top layer so it didn’t look like a carvery meal when you took the lid off the bowl. Underneath was carrots and peas then very fatty, grisly beef. Roast Potatoes came in a separate bag with a squashed yorkie. The potatoes were very pale. Not recommended. Awful.

Usually collect direct from shop however decided to get delivered this evening. Arrived on time, food was hot and tasty as always.

They use to be good but past 2 times I’ve had their chips they’re as dry as ghandis flip flop, burger really over cooked as well, really unpleasant

I have visited West Road Fish every week to get food on a Friday with my family for the last 2 years, the atmosphere and the customer service is amazing. The food is also perfect, couldn’t recommend to others enough.

For the first time ever, our dinner was almost cold by the time it arrived. Normally, their deliveries are quite hot, did the courier walks them around? Hooevttey are back to normal next time

We are regulars at West Road Fish Bar, unfortunately this was our first time ordering and the batter on the large fish was underdone (potentially a rushed order?), we also paid for 2 Heinz Tartar sauces and were given very small cheap alternative packets no way near worth 40p each. Seems it is much better to go in person. A shame because the staff are usually brilliant

Disappointed. We are regular customers but tonight’s 2 x cod special and a pie was ruined by one of the pieces of cod arriving smashed. The chips were very dry/over cooked with lots of tiny dry bits of chips. Really unusual to be so poor. Hope this is a one off. And to get a refund from Just Eat involves taking a photo 😕

2nd time ordering from West Road Fish Bar. I know Friday's are busy, but over an hour & a half to come less than a mile is getting silly.

Chips were OK, a little soggy for my liking. The fish was quite greasy. Chips & fish could have been hotter. Yes, it was delivered on time, but thats because they changed the delivery time 3 times.

Business is ran by children! No care is taken to ensure all items are present and included in order. Has happened multiple times and even after requesting to check all items still receive incomplete orders. Last occasion - I was even present when my Just Eat order was being prepared and two colleagues were discussing my order. They even acknowledged between themselves they didnt have enough food cooked / pepared but still tried to pass it off as a full order (1/2 pound burger ordered, they gave me 1/4 pounder), when challenged they both plead ignorance. Spoke to manager who gave order as GOGW and said he would honour a full refund via Just Eat. A week later and multiple ching through Just Eat I have now raised a disupte with my bank for money back. Awful experience, would never use again. If you choose to do so, check your orders as I can assure you anything over two items will be missed.

First time using West Road and was impressed. I placed 20 orders of food for delivery to the beach for a social gathering. Really quick responses to messages. Pre-order provided the day before. All delivered directly from the shop to the beach on time and with loads of extras including salt, bottles of vinegar and sauces plus cutlery. Food was delicious and good portions all boxed. Really reasonable prices too. Great service. Will definitely use again.

Since new people took over there food is not hot like there savaloy tonight was cold I think going to have to find new chip shop it’s a shame

Cod was missing. Called restaurant repeatedly but no one answered.

So very busy tonight and run off thier feet. Plus they had deliveries to do. They didn't stop once just kept going. Even the que went out the door the line kept going on a srmteady stream. No one had to wait to long gor thier food . Girls were great 👍 x

Ordered battered sausage and chips on Wednesday. Found a long brown hair in my chips. Noticed the girl cooking didn't have her hair tied up but they've offered to replace my food

I visited West road fish bar with my family, it is a very hygienic shop with a beautiful atmosphere. Couldn't recommended it enough, will definitely be coming here again.
