Grounds Cafe in South Cambridgeshire

Sandwiches and pannis measly portions and overpriced. Coffee average. But nothing special. Top decking bins overflowing with rubbish looks like not been emptied for days maybe weeks. Staff didn't really have any customer interaction. Sorry will not be returning or recommend. A total waste of money

We had coffee and our daughter had an ice cream. The ice cream was lovely (it needed a little tidying up at one point). Unfortunately the coffee was pretty poor. 5 starts for the ice cream 1 star for the coffee

shame ,,could be a great place if it wasn't for the staff mainly young women ,... miserable and rude !!......getting orders wrong .... probably comes down to the female manager with glasses who is very miserable , just seems as though the staff doesn't want to be there ,,not a good look if you ask me .. the very small girl with dark hair she's lovely and the larger girl really sweet ..other than that ..coffee ok .

Service was slow. I think they are trying to be hip and innovative, but I wasn't blown away by the quality of the coffee, especially not at that price. Didn't feel there was anything special

Oh, where do I begin with this delightful establishment? Picture this: you stroll in, hoping for a pleasant experience, but are met with "out of order" toilets and staff who seem to have been trained in the fine art of grumpiness. Customer service? Clearly an abstract concept here. The outdoor seating area features a charming DIY cleaning station, complete with a spritz bottle and paper towels, since the staff apparently don’t believe in maintaining hygiene. The culinary offerings are equally exquisite: pre-packaged meals lovingly reheated in a sandwich toasting machine, ensuring a taste experience as memorable as a cardboard sandwich. The clientele? A sweaty congregation of happy joggers who seem to be the only ones not dismayed by the bare minimum service. For the discerning visitor, might I suggest bringing your own picnic hamper and fetching a coffee from Costa at TESCO Milton beforehand? The staff here won't mind, as they’ll be too busy perfecting their rudeness with the queue of unsuspecting patrons. Or better yet, skip the visit and enjoy a peaceful walk in the park. Truly, an unforgettable experience for all the wrong reasons!

Terrible service in common with other reviewers, apparently if staff behind the counter don't communicate or pass tickets to each other it's the customers' fault. No apology, no flicker of human recognition, just "you'll have to wait" ... for her to serve all the customers who paid after us!

The server was nice but the coffee in my oat latte was disgusting...

Great café inside a beautiful park. Prices a bit steep, and service might be slow when busy. Nice in summer and cosy in winter. Please bring back the park run 😄

Really rude young blonde girl, who tutted when she had to make another milkshake, whilst we where still ordering? Incredibly unattractive attitude... ew.

Visited on Sunday with my partner for the first time from Stevenage. As someone who's indecisive as heck it was nice to see the range to choose from in the fridge. The panini was delish! Service was wonderful, had a nice chat with the lady making my latte about how long she's been there and still put enthusiasm into the conversation despite how busy they were. xx

The service was fantastic, very quick and very friendly. Coffee was great, a really nice place that makes it worth going to the country park just for this.

Visited the cafe today with our dog. We were rudely told that ‘dogs have to sit upstairs’. The cafe was filthy, run down and really tired. My partner asked for a flat white. This was a poor shot with cold milk poured in. No steamed milk. The staff were rude and had a lazy attitude. It wasn’t busy there was no excuse for the poor hygiene and filthy state of the place.

Visited here this morning and it was quiet, had no more than 5 other customers in for context, so wasn’t like service was fully under way and the staff were rushed off their feet so customer service could be slacking. The staff were unfriendly and quite frankly rude, we had 2 children with us who were excited and started playing on the ramp upstairs out of the way. All the customers (4 people) were smiling at the children laughing and having a good time. They were screaming or approaching the tables, they were simply going up and down this ramp a maximum of 3 times and we had the manager storm up the stairs and have a go at us and to be considerate of the other customers. We were nothing but considerate, they were not harming anyone or putting any one of their drinks or food, so couldn’t see where she was coming from. Never have I had someone so negative and nasty from the get go have a moan at me for my 2 year old laughing playing around. This is a family park that encourages family days out but the cafe seems to hate children, won’t be returning.

Food nice. Service abysmal. A friend and I went today with our two small children. Both nearing 2. They were excited and playing in the cafe and the way we were spoken to by the manager was like something I have never experienced since having children. I was right next to my son when he attempted to walk behind the counter. He didn’t make it because I was right there. Normally we would get a smile, a laugh or a wave but instead had an extremely frosty response from the manager who I assume absolutely hates children. Not even a speckle of warmth. We were made to feel extremely unwelcome from the moment we walked in and both serving ladies didn’t even manage a smile between them the entire time they were serving us. For a park trying to encourage young people with their wonderful forest school programs and junior parkruns the cafe needs to catch up. This experience deeply upset us both. It’s hard enough being a mum to small children without being spoken to and embarrassed in that way.

The food here was appalling. Bought an egg sandwich (charged for something else !). Opened sandwich - spot the bit of egg. Hardly any filling. A sausage breakfast butties- two halves of burnt sausage on a small dry roll. Tip: opposite country park is a Tesco. Buy take-out food, drinks, sweets there. Half the price, double the value. A really badly run cafe.

Can be very busy at weekends if events are happening. Car park is small, so as said, can get busy.

Good location and decent variety of tray bakes, coffees and paninis. Unfortunately, the service is pretty poor. You can be standing at the counter for 5 mins as staff walk around cleaning cups without even acknowledging you. If you can see past that frustration, it’s good. They also close up 30 mins before the official closing time so bare that in mind.

Met a friend for a coffee. It was good coffee - I can't say much about the service as it wasn't anything exceptional as it was self-service. It is a nice place to meet and go for a walk.

Lovely cafe, good items available, including vegan option. Large outside covered seating area, good for mums with buggies or dog walkers.

Inside and outside seating. it is on the seafront. Good menu for breakfast, average food... we sat outside with the dog in a nice area by their crazy golf, with view of the sea, very pleasant, friendly staff

The place is appalling. I went to fix my bicycle there, the man there lacks respect, talks to customer anyhow and I promise to report him to authorities. He was even threatening I can go and give the rating as he doesn't care.

Hier gibt es guten Kaffee und leckere Kleinigkeiten für Veganer, Vegetarier sowie Allesesser. Sehr familienfreundlich, studentisch und dementsprechend junges, lebendiges Publikum, viele holen sich nur etwas zum Mitnehmen raus.

Staff were kind enough to give me a waffle cone to go with the tub of vegan ice cream, even though it was very busy.

We stopped by for an ice cream after a walk around the park. Ice cream was great and there was lots of space to sit, both inside the cafe and in the seating areas outside. I know sometimes it can be really busy though! Staff were friendly and helpful and the ice cream portions were a good size.

Went in on our way to Norwich for a holiday. So just bought 3 ☕️ coffees quite nice.

This cafe is located in the Country Park. It offers decent refreshments: the coffee is good and they have a nice range of cakes. It was a cold day when we visited so there was an open fire downstairs making the place cosy. There is more seating upstairs looking over the lake, but downstairs was much nicer. Decent loos too

Great cafe. Good coffee and you have an excellent choice of seating locations, from which to enjoy said beverage. You can sit in the cafe, go upstairs and enjoy a magnificent vista over the pond from the outdoor balcony, use the many outdoor picnic tables in the vicinity or even carry your beverage with you as you still around the park.

Milton park is great for a wander and the cafe has a great view of the lake. An excellent place for a vegan cake and coffee :)

Lovely little cafe set in Milton Country Park. Serves toasties, sandwiches good coffee etc. Popular for Ice Cream and had gluten free cones. Also GF sarnies available.

Friendly and helpful staff. Great coffee and tasty treats. Fair pricing. We always make a pit stop here when visiting Milton Country Park.

I was very excited to try the coffee shop. The location is awesome with the right view of the lake at the back of the shop. The only reason it's not 5 stars is the expensiveness of the items in there. 2 paninis, 2 drinks, 1 bag of crisps £17 Woodburner was barely lit and was getting cold inside, so we left

They do a beautiful tasty hot chocolate.

Do not visit if you are coeliac. You are not wanted. Vegan fine, coeliac there is nothing except a bag of crisps and unfriendly staff

Untrained staff clearly on school work experience. Didn't listen to my order, messed up the amount, kept taking and laughing in the back kitchen. When the amount came and I had paid and said you've overcharged, they created a false bill where they added and then subtracted the same amount to come to zero then argued they had refunded me. Manager wasn't interested in hearing my story and believed the nonsense told by the staff. I finally gave up and walked out. We are regulars but will never step foot in here again. Outstandingly poor.

Ice cream is tasty. Lovely view from the terrace. Coffee is so so. Everything is very pricey. The main issue is hygiene, both of the staff were taking waffle cones for ice cream without gloves or napkins. COVID COVID but if the staff follow at least basic hygiene measures, that would be great. I hope you can fix it.

Milton Country Park; Excellent place to stop and walk the dog plus indulge in coffee and cake in the cafe. Indoor and outdoor space. Very welcoming.

Really good place to have your coffee! In my case it was gelato, chocolate and very berry, really good ice cream! Friendly staff and family atmosphere! In a sunny day, I absolutely recommend it!

Cakes look great, and gingerbread man was really nice, and good service. They lose 2 stars because I ordered a flat white coffee, but it was so milky I think they may have forgotten to put any coffee in. Maybe stick with the tea. Unfortunately I got takeaway, so didn't have a chance to sort it out.

A guy could get very fat on the fantastic selection of cakes served here. Mmm... Cakes.

Great little cafe just off the A14, literally 2 minutes if that. Very close to a large Tesco for fuel. Great place to stretch your legs and walk the dog etc.

a nice ground coffee for myself and ice-cream and juice for my daughter just after a lovely country walk, cost was £8.65 at the moment it's take away only but there is a seating area with social distancing measures in place.

Love the balcony very much. Quiet, peaceful and beautiful view of the lake. You can have your coffee and meal in the balcony or inside the cafe.

Lovely walk in the winter sun unfortunately the cafe doesn’t allow dogs in so we had to go home without refreshments

Cosy place during winter with the fireplace, beautiful alfresco place during summer. Coffee is nice, food and cakes are nice too. Soup is usually excellent. Ice cream perfect.

Given this cafe is the only one around it could easily put minimal effort in, however it is a great little place that goes beyond the standard park cafe - cosy fireplace, friendly and helpful staff and good vegan options including an excellent sausage and cheese toastie 👍 ♿ Has wheelchair friendly toilets and a ramp up to the outside viewing deck. I am not sure how suitable the (shortish) path to cafe from the car park was as we weren't with a wheelchair user.
