The Hoops in South Cambridgeshire

We wanted to find a pub to have lunch after visiting the Wimpole Estate. We chose the hoops and they were able to accommodate us despite bringing forward our reservation by 1 hour Service was great, attentive and with a smile Great choices for food and very reasonably priced ! Highly recommend

Great meal out tonight- lovely food and very friendly service as always . We loved the wide variety of desserts including lots of traditional favourites! Would highly recommend. Enjoyed the karaoke in the background!

Proper country pub, they've increased the outside seating lovely period pub.

Groups of 5 of us, one baby and 3 small dogs for lunch - table all set up prior to our arrival with highchair. Lots of variety on the menu and food was just brilliant, such good quality! Service was great, absolutely would return!

Nice enough, was a recommendation, just a bog standard pub, not particularly charming, but lots of locals there, which is good for the village. Plenty of tradesman men, that's where they are when they say they are popping out for a part! I had steak pie, was OK, bit small portion but I guess that's why they charge £12 for it. Chips were great. Lots of people having lunch so must be OK. Eton mess was good, with cheesecake which I've not had before. Staff nice. For better pies go to Pig and Abbott in Abington piggotts

Booked a table at The Hoops for lunch, me and my partner, and two of our friends. Had a lovely lunch, Amy our waitress was lovely so friendly and very efficient. The food was great, large menu, good size portions and lovely good quality food, and very good prices. We really enjoyed our visit, and we will be back. Brilliant thank you The Hoops.

Visited on a weekday evening for a drink in the beer garden and some food inside. Really nice, reasonably priced 'pub grub' with a range of options. Staff were lovely and made us feel really welcome. Friendly, bustling village pub.

Visiting from Florida with some fussy eaters, came a few times, the food was probably the best we have had in the UK, service was great and everyone had a smile and very accommodating,the beer was cold and fresh, seems it's very popular with the locals, which is always a good sign. The landlord Russell was very helpful and very knowledgeable about the area, anyone within a 30 mile radius, it's well worth the visit.

We knew the Hoops must be pretty good when we pulled up to see the garden and bar busy. It was early on a Friday and already it was buzzing. Good choice of food and when it can we were all very impressed. We couldn't find anything to fault. Only a couple of us had room for desserts, but those that did, thoroughly enjoyed them. Thanks to the team for great service even with the pressure of a full dining room!

Beers a bit pricey, but very friendly,and dog friendly too.

Really lovely evening here with friends. I was not expecting anything special from the food but how wrong was I! The six of us all loved our mains, the fish and chips was excellent as were the burgers and gammon. Great service from the waitress who put up with all our fussy questions and requests.

Excellent meal arranged for 16 walkers after a walk around the village. The meals were very tasty and delivered promptly. I have no hesitation in recommending this excellent restaurant.

The hoops is a traditional pub with real ales friendly staff and a warm and friendly atmosphere. Russell and his wife are lovely and always do a fantastic job

I'm rating this a 4 because I have only been a few times. However it is a really great place to go for a drink or for something to eat. It's like how I remember pubs being before all the chains came in and shut down the "local"

We arrived there around 3pm, no one else was eating but we got really freshly made meals. The place was clean and staff friendly.

A very tasty lunch today. We will definitely be returning in the near future. I thought the menu was quite extensive and catered for carnivores and vegetarians.

Friendly staff and good food in a warm pub

Had lunch in the Hoops today , what a lovely old place , the lunch was superb great portions and a fantastic side salad great value for money . The service was excellent we would highly recommend

Excellent, friendly service. Very basic, bland food. Wetherspoons quality. Not what I would hope to have on a rare meal out. Might as well get an Iceland frozen meal on the way home. Cut the menu by half and keep the things that are home made and let chef enjoy experimenting & making these yummy. Nice place for a drink. Very friendly

A lot of dirty looks weather they don't like new unfamiliar customer or just don't like people of colour entering.

Lovely pretty little pub, visited with a group of bikers and they laid on a lovely little buffet for us. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Would definitely visit again.

The Hoops Its a great local little pub with great food and service was excellent. The landlord was inviting and always social the ladies behind the bar were too. The time s i was there i felt like a regular customer. I thanked them when i had to leave but hopefully i will pop back again. Thank you for your warmth and hospitality It was 100%and i will go back to have a pint with you all.

A great pub to visit with great food. Our Motorcycle Club held a memorial ride ending at one of our favourite pub locations. The Hoops laid on a buffet which was well received.

Great pub where we ended up for lunch. Absolutely no complaints about the lasagna options we had ( meat and vegetarian) which hit the spot perfectly. Has decent parking. Toilets are clean. Staff are friendly and the cider is good. There is also great outdoor seating for those wanting their Vitamin D fix.

Met up with a cousin & wife in week. Tried the Hoops in the village of Bassingbourn. We had a lovely dinner, plenty of it & very reasonable prices. Very friendly staff. Had 2 Currys on special board which were both very hot. They managed to do me a korma which was very nice of them. Would go again. Maybe try the Sunday roasts next

What a little gem! Came across this place on a wander and loved it as soon as I walked in. It's a must visit if you're out and about.

Had a lovely meal at The Hoops last Sunday. Food, which included Sunday Roasts, was good and so plentiful half of our party of 8 couldn't manage dessert! Those that did enjoyed them. Mix of traditional and more contemporary dishes. Nice rural pub setting with excellent staff - drinks came quickly without us noticing them arriving. Beers ( Hardys) and Wines also very nice. Thoroughly enjoyed by all. Only downside limited parking at pub itself, but you can park in side streets nearby.

Superb! A lovely pub with an extensive pub style menu that is very competitively priced. Great service and generous portions of very well cooked food. The home made steak and kidney pie I ate (cut from a larger pie) was spectacular with a lovely crust and extremely generous and tasty filling. I can't remember eating a better one.

Been here twice now with friends from the village. I can not fault the Hoops. Service is brilliant, friendly staff and the food.... oh my god the food is "LUSH". Had the BBQ chicken kebabs, with sweet potato chips and salad. Then to top it off had a reeses peanut butter pie. Think I will be having it again and again. 😋👍🏻

Stopped in on the off chance of a table and got super lucky. Not only did I get the table but I also got a fantastic roast Sunday lunch. Everything was cooked to perfection, roast potatoes crispy but not burned, Veg had just the right amount of bite and the lamb was delicious. Followed it with syrup sponge and double cream. Staff and service were both good too.

First time visiting this lovely village pub.The staff were very friendly and made our visit very pleasant. My friend and I had scampi and chips and were pleased to see they cook proper fat chips! Delicious Would definitely recommend

Good old fashioned pub. A decent plate of food. Friendly staff and a roaring open fire. Only one minus point - sat inside to eat recently and could smell the cleaning blocks from the toilet all the way into the bar and seating area, not a pleasant smell

Overall quite disappointed. So, super friendly staff and service. Great atmosphere. Simple and warm. However, the food was thoroughly disappointing. I was really looking forward to the Stone Oven Pizzas. But they were overdone. See pic. They replaced it with a new one. Nice of them :) Sadly under-done. :( The reviews on here are mostly positive. So.. Maybe just an off day?

Had the pleasure of lunch in The Hoops last Saturday. A large party of us, pre booked. Can't fault the experience. The team did a great job of looking after us. Great meal, great beer, great company. We'll be back!

Been drinking here on and off for 25 + years and the Hoops is easily the best pub in the village, the landlord does an awful lot for the elderly and village so we are very lucky to have this establishment right on our doorstep. Highly recommend it !!

The bar staff were really nice and the food in plenty but some of the dishes were very dry. Worth a try if you travelling by.

Quality home cooked food and great atmosphere.
