The Waeccer in Rochford

Just had a Sunday roast. Very good food. Lots of veg and plenty of meat. Certainly would recommend and will return again. All staff very friendly.

We went last Sunday for a roast dinner. In all honesty, we wasn’t sure what to expect as the last time we went everything was cold, chewy and not enjoyable. However, this was exceptional. It’s come on leap and bounds under new management. What was lovely is the chef came round to see everyone, which shows he takes great pride in his work. The food was gorgeous, and the red cabbage - WOW! Soup for starters was fantastic, very warming on a cold autumnal day. Now we’ve had a good dinner/experience we will most certainly be back!

Had a fantastic roast dinner here today. Loads of lovely vegetables and lots of meat too. The staff are all friendly and James the head chef came out to check we had enjoyed our meal, which was a nice touch. Looking forward to our next roast here!

I originally intended to go elsewhere but they were super busy so my friend suggested The Waeccer. We walked in without a booking and the lady eagerly found us both somewhere to sit, despite not making a reservation. We both ordered the roast and it came to the table within 20 minutes, piping hot and well presented. It tasted fantastic. I ordered an apple crumble for dessert. This also arrived quickly, served hot. Everything was brilliant for our visit and I will be returning again based on this visit. Can't fault The Waeccer at all. Excellent in every aspect.

Breakfast at The Waeccer is delicious and we’d recommend. Spoke to the chef who advised that all food is made to order using only the freshest of ingredients. We’ll be back especially as we’ve heard that their Sunday lunch is amazing!

Brilliant pub, with great food. Each time I have been its been quiet. So I can't really comment on the atmosphere. Definitely recommend for a catch up with friends or family.

Saw the chef in the local butchers going over the cuts of meat he wanted fresh for the dinners. I liked that, so we went to check it out. Lamb was amazing, steak was amazing too. Lovely food and vibe 👌

My wife and I have just a Sunday roast at the Waeccer and it was fabulous. The chef James is a real asset and his food speaks volumes. He also takes the time to come out and speak with customers which is really encouraging. We will be back very soon, thank you.

Omg! I have literally never written a review for a restaurant before but this pub was Incredible the food was delicious reasonably priced and a large portion size the service was quick and excellent and the staff were so friendly and nice. The whole place was lovely.

Great lunch. Good portions abs well presented. Our host Gracie was very attentive and looked after us. Recommend a visit.

Have had Sunday roast here a couple of times whilst visiting my daughter who lives nearby and connot fault the food the service and the hospitality Will go back next time I visit

Came for a quick Sunday lunch after cleaning our daughter/son in laws house. Food was delicious and a lot of it, we both had the roast dinner, hubby had the pork belly, there was hardly any fat and it was cooked beautifully he didn't want cauliflower cheese so they took it off. I had the lamb which was a little bit rare for my liking but they kindly changed it without hesitation even giving me another Yorkshire pudding.

Did know what to do so while passing thought why not have Impromptu Sunday lunch food was excellent staff are friendly and even when the meat was slightly under cooked they were helpful by cooking a little longer will be back again when visiting my daughter

Very long wait for order, 20-30 min.

We came as a family for a lovely meal but our experience was not that good. Two out of three pizzas we ordered were bland and tasteless, we had sausages served for a baby and they came up pink in the middle, one of our party ordered ribs only to be informed that they sold out when half of our meals had already come out, we received a drink each as an apology but unfortunately we will not be returning, the service was good but she wasn't the chef so we cannot lay the blame on the waitress

Arrived at 1.15 for a 1.30 booking. Ordered drinks. Took nearly an hour to come. Waited nearly 45 mins to order. Waitress didn't know how to open wine. Food arrived after an hour. Then ordered 4 cocktails to drink in garden. 2 arrived. Rest still not received after 20 mins. Was on way out. Asked for money back last 2 cocktails. Was told WITH PLEASURE . Decided to leave and asked for a refund. Was told that it was a Bank Holiday so expect a wait. Place was empty? Hope you get a better meal. Place has gone downhill. Always slow. Now even worse..

Came here for first time today with the family and everyone really enjoyed their meal. Would definitely recommend this place.

Really disappointed. Mother’s Day treat . Lovely girls but terrible service . We were left waiting For ages just to rake a drinks order . Waited over an hour For our main meal . Chicken pink . Kids miserable and hungry . Gutted.

I mst say I was disappointed, went for a pie and pint that was served until 8pm, went to order at the bar at 7:20 and was informed that the kitchen was not taking any more orders. So rated the food I didn't get to try at 1 star, service at 1 star as they didn't announce the closure of the kitchen, atmosphere was ok, other than the sound of grumbling bellies...

Absolutely awful dining experience. Poor quality asking extortionate prices. £14 for a microwaved main. Chilli Con Carne is pretty simple but not a fresh ingredient in sight. Garlic bread as a starter was a round piece of flat bread with a meagre sprinkle of garlic, it was so dry that it was inedible. Through guilt they presented a £20 voucher but I shall not dine here ever again.

Great friendly local pub with great food and excellent staff. It has become our local since moving to Wakering 5 years ago and we love every visit. They can’t do enough for you!!!

Food was excellent, just had to wait for over an hour for first course. Service wasn’t as good as we’d expect… but putting it down to the time of day. Not a bad experience, but could have been better.

Fall-off-the-bone FANTASTIC ribs. This delicious dish was delivered on time and nicely presented. The ribs just fall off the bone and a decent portion is provided with fries and home-made coleslaw. Amazing. Delicious. I'd prefer chunky chips to fries, but I also ordered halloumi chips and they were light and lovely. Thanks, The Waeccer. An awesome Friday night-in treat.

My first visit here. Food was really nice, but we did have to wait awhile for it. Inside the pub, was nice, the outside garden area with a bar looks great with many tables and space. Will definitely be returning when the weather is warmer..

I've been going to the monthly quiz nights for 3 or 4 months. They've been great fun, really good food and top level service

We certainly both rated our roast dinners today as among the best that we have had in a pub. Service was excellent with all the staff being friendly and attentive. The food was piping hot and most delicious. Crisp roast potatoes, plenty of succulent meat ( I had turkey, my husband had pork) and a good selection of vegetables. We will certainly return!

Ordered food at 14.50 and received food at 15.30. I could have accepted that as the food was good but the table next to us ordered their food when ours turned up and were eating theirs 15 minutes later. If you go keep an eye on the time once you order. I certainly will if I go again

Been meaning to visit for a while and never got round to it, finally made a booking for 6 people for the Mrs birthday. Food was great and every plate cleared, service with a smile and the staff are only to happy to be of assistance. Great atmosphere for groups, family of solo visits. Will defo be back👌🏻

We went on a Sunday so there was only the roast available. The choice was very good and the roast itself was amazing. I had 1/2 chicken, my companions had the beef, the mixed meat and the pork. All said it was fantastic and our friend even went so far as to say it was possibly thr best roast he had ever had out.

My sister and I went for lunch on Wednesday with our parents. We love going to The Waeccer as we can always guarantee we’ll have meals we all really enjoy. Dad can’t stop raving about his Barling Beauty sausages. We have never had a disappointing meal. The staff are always friendly and welcoming.

Never been here before even though it's not far from home, but will definitely return. The staff are really friendly without being in your face and the food was amazing. I had the Barling Beauty sausages. I'd recommend them to anyone. Great big tasty sausages. Brilliant value too.

Last time I visited was 5 years ago when it was the Anchor. What a transformation! Really pleasant staff, great food, decent range of draught beer to suit all tastes but limited on cask (but hey, 1 cask is better than no cask 😁) the pizza deal was a win; 2 pizzas and 2 sides for £25 and was spot on. Looking forward to being back in town to visit again.

Excellent service by Lucie and 2 other ladies on bar. Very friendly & quick at making everyones drinks at the private event for Terry yesterday. The chips & sweet potato chips were so nice (also heard the pizzas were aswell) and the cocktails were probably the best we've ever had, definitely going back!

This was our first visit to The Waeccer and we thoroughly enjoyed it! The food was very tasty and a good sized portion. Our waitress, Pheobe, was very friendly and efficient. We will definitely be back!

I visited here today for the first time after hearing good things about this pub & I certainly wasn’t disappointed. Friendly staff & the bacon cheese steak burgers were great & make sure you choose the chunky chips. I will be back.

Great Wakering's The Waeccer is a true treasure. The cuisine was excellent and included both a distinct pizza menu and a variety of options from the menu for delectable pub favorites. The staff was polite and provided excellent service. Lori in particular made us feel unique and well-treated. The gorgeous beer garden with the Tiki bar, which gave us a vacation-like feeling, was the highlight for me. I heartily endorse The Waeccer for a wonderful overall pub experience.

Drinks served in incorrect glasses, bar was understaffed, my partner's food came out out incorrect, was sent back to the kitchen, was then told the chef disagreed with me on how the food was cooked, it was replaced whilst I ate alone , when the food came back it was still not correct but as I had finished mine and we had already waited long enough we didn't send it back a second time, We came out for a nice lunch together, ended up being a stressful bad experience, no sincere apology or offer of compensation, totally ruined our day, we won't be returning. Just been to The Waeccer for a roast, it was absolutely amazing! Best roast I've had in a restaurant for a long time, portions were very good, food tasty and lovely staff. 3 courses for £27 is an absolute bargain. Our waitress Lucie was really lovely. We will definitely be coming back, highly recommended!

Good food, not quickly delivered to the table though. The mains are good value, the desserts are shockingly overpriced for two bites. Will go again, but next time I'll cross the road to the Coop for my pudding.

We all had a 2 course Sunday Roast. Food was decent, plate was full and the quantity of meat was great but the meat was a tad to fatty for my liking. The cocktails were so good though!! Pina colada was my favourite, just how I like it.

Great food, let down by very slow service, considering we had to pre order our meals it took one hour before the food arrived. It was a family birthday so we had four young children with us, so an hour is a long time to wait, we had the sa.e problem with desserts and drinks, so it was a bit disappointing.

Having preordered the food for a booking, we arrived at the allocated time and had an hours wait for the main courses food. We were one of two large tables, but they knew we were there as the food had all be preordered for the times! The service at the table was rather slow, we had to ask for more drinks on more than one occasion. The food turned up and all relatively close together. The food was all hot and very tasty and cannot be faulted whatsoever. The service on the other hand was dire. When the drinks arrived at the table, they were all left at one end and were left for my family to hand them out. The staff didn’t seem to be very ‘customer focused’ There appeared to be lots of chatting at the bar and eating in the bar area by the waitresses/bar staff. After the lovely main courses had been eaten, we waited approx 35mins for the plates to be cleared and for the desserts arrive. When they did, there was no cutlery, so we asked the waitress who said they’re short and had to wait for some to be washed up! We managed to get 7 spoons for 10 people, no floor staff about other than the bar staff, so went to see one of the waitresses who had her coat on and disappeared out the door. After enquiring at the bar, we managed to get another handful of spoons washed up. Food lovely, service poor and let the whole experience down.

Very disappointed with the roast dinner! Ordered the chicken, that came out about 40 mins after order, potatos were re heated you can tell that just from cutting them, veg was hard but for me the worst was the chicken! Went for lunch on Saturday. Nice pub with very welcoming staff. There was an issue with the system not sending our order to the kitchen so there was a long wait before our food arrived. When it did, it was excellent. We were given drinks on the house to make up for the wait. Glitches happen so it was no big deal. Will definitely return.
