We had a superb Sunday lunch , I had the pork belly roast which was amazing as to was my wife’s beef brisket . Attentive and efficient polite staff with a buzzing atmosphere. Definitely will return to sample more delicious dishes.

The owners were amazing and made us feel very welcome . The food was beautiful. As a group of 6, we had a mixture of burgers and the open sandwiches. We all said it was one of the best meals we had ever had! The desserts were tasty too. We would definitely recommend, and we can't wait to return.

The Fox at Shadingfield has just reopened. The staff & hosts were all very helpful and friendly and the food was excellent, we will definitely be back. I had the venison burger and my fellow diners had the brisket burger and the truffle burger, all come highly recommended one of the best tasting burgers I have ever had, well done and we will definitely be coming back to work our way through the menu. The fish and the pork belly looked excellent too

Stopped here on way home from Beccles. Had food and a drink both very good. Own brewed beer was really good. Lovely friendly landlord and staff. Chatted with friendly regulars and Dogs are welcome. Highly recommend see you again soon . Anne Rick ipswich 😊

We booked for an evening meal for a family of 6, 2 months ago. Arrived this evening looking forward to an evening meal with our family of six.. we received no warm welcome and was told they are not doing food this evening. They had our phone number so why did not phone us to let us know. Don’t think this pub will survive much longer with there lack for customer service. We will not be back

We stopped here for a last minute Sunday roast. We hadn't booked so we were expecting to be turned away. The staff were great but the food was even better. We were very surprised to see the quality of food coming out. We both had roast beef and it was delicious. The parsnip crisp shavings in the Yorkshire was a great touch. Everything was cooked perfectly. The pub decor is a little out dated but who cares when food is this good. It was reasonably priced too. The staff were very polite and on the ball. There was even an open fire which was a treat on such a cold day. Highly recommend the roast The photo doesn't do it justice, it was a big plate!

Coming back from a long walk we decided to nip into The Fox hoping to grab a quick pint and abit of food, literally walking through the door we over hear “ they better not be here for food or I’ll be p*ssed off” hearing that we thought maybe they’re just having a particularly busy night and I understand that hospitality can be stressful !, I notified the bar staff of what I heard and reassured them we wouldn’t order food, I was told “you can have food but we’ve got no steak or burgers, and sorry you heard that but we’ve had a table of 8 come in” imagine ! The cheek of 8 people turning up… 🤦🏻‍♂️. Whilst having the pint we noticed the chalkboard stating Sunday roasts £12 a head ! Brilliant ! Plan sorted for the next day !, what a disaster that was, a plate full of red cabbage, 2 tiny rock hard roasties and some tough old beef. Oh and 2 roasts were actually £32 not £24 yikes !. Oh well win some lose some I guess.

Food was excellent plenty if it nicely presented.

Had a fabulous meal this evening, hot food, tasty, great atmosphere, made to feel welcome. Great service. Portion sizes huge, couldn't eat it all. Will definitely go again.

Great night out with a local Indian street food company supplying the meals and the landlord supplying the real ale which he brews himself and excellent it is. Also a variety of lagers, ciders, wines and spirits. Good prices and a nice easy atmosphere. Also dog friendly.

Good outside eating/drinking area and nice quirky extras at this pub you won't find anywhere else, take your records to play, all strengths of specs to read the menu, a private pool playing area. Quiz nights, live music and theme nights. Great pub ..

What a wonderful place, we went for our anniversary meal and were given 5 star treatment. All of the staff were so attentive and friendly and made us feel so welcome. The menu has lots to choose from, vegan options too! The food was out of this world and being vegan I am usually limited to what I can have but was spoilt for choice. The chef, Nikki even made me a special vegan dessert which was delightful. Will definitely be back and would highly recommend!

Great food, friendly, helpful staff. Last minute booking for 10, 6 adults 4 children. Nothing too much trouble, adapted menu for children's food choices. Can thoroughly recommend.

Had a very good meal and drinks one of the nicest beer gardens We've visited in a long time staff and amenities very nice would have been 5 stars but We had quite a wait for Our meal but I sure this will be rectified in the future to be fair We were told this when We ordered Our meal definitely visiting again

Great service from the friendly bar/wait staff this evening. Decent ales, well kept and a a reasonable priced and well prepared menu. Mussel starter was super and deep fried breaded mushroom also good. Mains were also great. Recommended.

Found this place by chance. Great selection of ales, very friendly staff. Ate on a Saturday night and food was of a good standard and well priced. TBH I was surprised it was not busier but then it was mid Oct.

Nice place this, very friendly staff. Visited here for a meal with family, reasonable menu selection, delivered in good time. Good portions, tasty etc. Nice selection of desserts as well, what's not to like about crumble with custard😀 They also offer Friday fish and chip nights, a curry night at two meals for £12.95 and a steak night (different prices). Try for yourself, we would recommend it👍

Great country pub. We went here for a beer festival in June. As well as a great selection of real ales already on at the bar there were 12 barrels on the rack. Great atmosphere, nice patio and garden area, live music, good food, great staff. Lovely old building with lots of parking. Even turns out my grandad drank they're when h he was young too and some of his paintings are in the main dining area. What's not to like!

Second visit to the fox. Once again the food was top draw. Variety on the menu and extremely reasonable cost. As a group of 4 the service was quick and very friendly, the food was excellent two of us had the steak cook perfectly to how we requested. My dad had the fishcakes which he really enjoyed. Later we found out it was gulten free as well. This restaurant has become one of our favourite places to eat. We have also booked a table as they gone up quickly at prime times.

Good food and service. Very friendly staff. I got my starter at the same time as my main. To be fair they offered to reheat or make a new pizza. I got a complimentary beer instead. The side room was a little chilly. I would suggest their website makes it clear they do offer wifi.

The Shadingfield Fox welcomes campervan parking. The food is reasonably priced for the area. Decor is modern and the clientele mixed. Personally struggled to socialise beyond the usual platitudes. However, polite and quiet for the time of Year visited. I would recommend checking BritStop for popular camper stops.

We went for their weekly curry night. Food was reasonably priced, good portions and tasty with friendly service.

Thoughaly enjoyable Sunday roast and made to be very welcome into the pub especially as we have 4 cocker spaniels will definitely be going back and would highly recommend the Fox for food and drink

Had lunch here on a busy bank holiday Monday. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, being knowledgeable about dietary issues (gluten free). In the evening attended a craft workshop. Brilliant. I will certainly return. Ps their fish cakes are gluten free too!

Called in for an evening meal as two couples. The bar had a good selection of real ales. We were staying nearby on holiday. Menu was typical pub food. We all ordered chicken curry which came with rice, a small naan and a small poppadom. The curry was quite disappointing. Bland and watery. But we were hungry so ate it. We did mention when we paid. But only received a "sorry, I'll let chef know". Unlikely to return.

A really good beer garden with a great selection of ales

You his is my favourite pub in the world. I spend many lazy Sundays here. It’s not tied to any brewery so there is an extensive list of ales to choose from, all different breweries. The selection is normally around 12, with a tap room out back offering even more beers. The pub also boasts a separate gin bar. So if you’re not into ales you won’t go thirsty. For me what makes this pub work is a passionate, knowledgable owner. His staff are also very very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The Building is traditional. The inside decor is very homely and comfortable with a couple of log burners. The outside is clean and tidy, please see my pictures. It’s a low maintenance garden as it is small and compact but it does offer you some beautiful plants and trees. I would say that, if you holidayed in Beccles/Halesworth/Bungay or any surrounding village you would regret not coming in and having an evening/day at the pub. It’s a popular pub but is never uncomfortable. The food is amazing, but more expensive than a spoons meal but you are getting a touch of quality. Just give the pub a look and thank me later. :-)!!!! You can buy me a beer!!! Lol
