We love visiting Johnathans & Stephanys doing the week (NOT WEDNESDAYS as they are Closed) we go for lunch which is freshly cooked to order ,sometimes we have Breakfast The staff are helpful and friendly a friendly atmosphere We have been visiting for many years NO1 in Kirkley

Staff very friendly food was very good

Best eating place in Lowestoft and beyond. This is now our first choice when eating out. Nice people and excellent food. A little gem.

Such a lovely atmosphere, and the couple than run it are so adorable and kind. Food is yummy and proper homemade , the decor is oldy worldly and quaint. We love it and my son who is 9 loves it in his words, really pleasant and tasty.

Big all-day breakfasts, roast dinners, burgers and so on. A lovely atmosphere, charming hosts and good food at a reasonable price. One of those "little gems" that you find from time to time. Absolutely loved it and can't recommend highly enough.

They never answer their telephone I tried several times to book a table in opening hours as I had family down and we wanted a Sunday dinner and as there were a few of us didn’t want to just turn up. and no one ever answered so they lost my custom.

My husband and I had the roast dinner. Wonderful.

I've been here before, but on this occasion, we ordered food and sat waiting only to see other customers who came in after us getting their food called the owner who stated the young girl forgot to put our order in had we not said anything might still be there

First visit today with our family including a baby. Staff very friendly helpful and great with the baby. We all had different dinners which were all very good value and well cooked plenty of choice. Desserts a good selection and very reasonably priced. Recommended by people coming out and the people on the next table to us also recommended and visited often. Would return and recommend this lovely cafe. Only negative could possibly do with a little redecorating.

This is the first time we visited this charming Restaurant /Cafe.. Well, what a delight! The food (cooked breakfast) arrived piping hot, delicious and of good satisfying portions. A hot or cold drink were also included all at a fantastic price. Excellent service and a cosy atmosphere, particularly on an unseasonably chilly day. Thanks so much.. we will visit again and highly recommend.

We always visit this wonderful place whenever we are visiting Lowestoft. The food is just perfect and the staff are the most helpful, friendliest people you will ever meet.

We found this place while having a wander, we were greeted by a pleasant young man who had just started working there and this was his second day. My partner had all day breakfast, I had cheeseburger, chips and onion rings, the food was very nice, very reasonably priced . Seems to be a regular haunt with the retired people, as the staff seemed to know them. I would eat here again if I come back to Lowestoft and will certainly recommend to anyone.

I've before when I was younger for food with the family, today I had all day breakfast. It was traditional breakfast. It was cooked perfectly and it had everything that was need. Maybe could of had black pudding and tomatoes on grill. Reasonably priced for sure. 7.75 for 2 bacon, 2 eggs, 2 hash browns and 2 sausages along with toast, mushrooms, toast and beans. Also the drink was included. Can't really complain.

We popped in for a cooked breakfast whilst camping. Howards Tea Rooms offers good portions for a very reasonable price and is excellent quality. The owner is very friendly and welcoming.

Charming little tearooms just behind the promenade. We didn’t call ahead and they were fully booked for 2 hours! We waited and glad we did. We had the Sunday roast and everything was served piping hot and delicious. Dessert was equally delicious and of a generous size. Service was friendly and lovely, they were so friendly towards our two children. Will definitely come again.

The owner made us feel really welcome, great sense of humour! The food was fresh, hot and tasty. The staff were very organised and efficient. Really good value for money and we will visit again when in the area. I had the vegetarian roast which was delicious. Yes it’s old fashioned but that’s part of the charm, every table taken which speaks for itself.

Very friendly and the breakfast was just what I needed. A very good portion is given. The decoration and furniture let it down as it was quite dark and old, but I didn’t go for the decoration so my belly was happy.

We went here with friends for breakfast and were very impressed. The food is very good and very good value for money. The service was friendly and fast, we will definitely return.

Went to Howards for a second time, and can't wait to go back again. Food is excellent , good portions, beautifully cooked and well presented. The cafe is spotless and staff very professional and polite. My wife had a pork roast and I had chicken pie. Six portions of veg with each. Apart from a carvery I don't know where else you would get that. Prices amazing too. A little gem.

My friends and I were in Lowestoft for the weekend looking for somewhere to have breakfast. We walked into the tea rooms greeted by Howard real name something like Zaoshang (excuse me if I have it wrong) lovely man. We ordered 5 breakfasts plus some extras about 10 or 15 minutes later our food came out, fresh hot and local produce. Needles to say we returned the morning after before travelling home. I cannot recommend this tea room enough. Long may places like this exist.

Went for Sunday lunch. Looks a little bit dated but don't let that put you off. The food is fantastic, wholesome , homemade grub. We both had the Sunday lunch meal deal of 2 courses for £10-95 plus tea or coffee included.We both had Turkey...

Popped in looking for somewhere to have a bite to eat and drink after a long drive. Chap that served us was very welcoming, nothing too much trouble, great food and drinks. Lovely to hear chat from lost of regulars. Would love to visit again...

Great friendly service, great home cooked food. Little dated interior but comfortable.

Myself and my friend decided to visit Howards Tea Rooms for the second time as when we first went Dave was so impressed with his cappuccino and liked the look of the food the other diners were having. When we arrived I immediately made a beeline for a comfy bench seat but before Dave could have a seat, the waiter whisked his away and disappeared. After a few seconds wondering where Dave was going to sit, the waiter returned with a really nice padded chair for him (which I thereafter referred to his Dave’s ‘special chair’). The waiter handed us a laminated menu each and we ordered 2 diet cokes whilst we scrutinised the menu. The waiter returned promptly with our drinks, and left us to decide what to eat. I myself had only planned on having something light (such as a bacon roll),but Dave had decided he was definitely having a turkey roast dinner (for only £6) with a side order of roast potatoes. I looked through the light meals and decided on having the chicken burger with chips. After placing our order we weren’t waiting too long for our food to arrive. Both of us were impressed with the look of our food. Dave was delighted to discover beneath the slabs of turkey lurked a delicious surprise of a portion of sage and onion stuffing balls which wasn't on the menu. My chicken burger and chips was great and the onion rings were deliciously crispy. Overall I think we’d both give our visit a 10/10, and we will definitely visit again.

Visited for the first time today and will definitely be visiting again. Lovely little cafe just off the seafront. Me & my husband both had a turkey roast followed by homemade cheesecake. Both were delicious. They welcomed my dog and even offered her allergy friendly treats.

We went there for Sunday lunch both of us had beef. It was beautifull. Hot tastefull and great value. Followed by good old British bread and butter pudding The staff were welcoming and friendly.

Myself and my wife have been in before a long time ago so after all thats happened in the world we gave it a go and it was as good as it was before very covid aware would recommend this restaurant

Angry at the service it took half an hour for the drinks to come out and then about 20 minutes for food we had 3 roast dinners and there was a dribble of gravy they brought out 2 roast dinners and then had the wait another 5 minutes for another two dishes to come out and then another 5 minutes for the last dish and when we spoke to the owner about it he started being rude and shouting at us save to say we won’t be going back there he’s all about the money and not making his customers happy

Visited 17th August 2020, ordered two breakfasts, first tea and coffee arrived, found black hair one saucer, then received breakfast and found hair in it, told the gentleman and he said i have pay either way, told call environmental health, even said don't swap hair i had in tissue, also said I'm not acussing you of putting hair in it, i meen I'm not that desperate to avoid paying £5.50 for a breakfast very rude in everything he said, contacted environmental health just waiting for reply, will not be eating there again.

What a find. Might be a little old fashioned with its patterned carpets, checked tablecloths and laminated picture placemats but all attention is on the food and service. Homemade food... Roast dinner with fresh vegetables and a dessert for less than a tenner is total value for money in my book. Lovely staff, lovely food, and dog friendly if they're on a lead and well behaved. Amongst a mass of seaside chippies and kebab shops, this little gem filled my belly and put a smile on my face.

I didn't enjoy the food, & the service wasnt particularly good,. Thought I'd have a Change and go somewhere different for lunch!...The cutlery wasn't clean.. Came in for burger & chips., for lunch.. When it arrived it was 2 small, very thin Iceland burgers (patty's) in a small bun, & the chips were hard. I don't expect alot for £4.50 but it wasn't enjoyable or filling.. And all i could hear was lots of clocks ticking there's about 5+ clocks in the cafe amd its all you can hear.. Irritating... Some people may enjoy it the bit it wasnt for me, personally i wouldn't recommend..

This unassuming restaurant is very popular with locals because of the friendly reception and excellent home cooked food, each table is set with a black and white check tablecloth. Two of us visited (without prior booking) on Sunday. We chose from a choice of meats...

Lovely home-cooked food which is delicious and a great choice of menu, plus amazing value for money and lovely polite service. This is genuine cooked food and expect to be really happy and content with undisputed great food to fulfil an appetite.

Perfectly cooked turkey roast, only downside are the squeaky, bouncy floorboards at the tables towards the rear of the eating area which is distracting when walked on by staff

I do not rate this cafe one bit. The young lad who served us with a group including children and fussy eaters was very polite and accommodating, willing to help. After ordering was told by the boss itself that they were unable to adapt the menu to suit our needs. This is not what I class as a good willing business to suit customers expectations

We visited this cafe a couple of times while in Lowestoft first time having cream scones which were delicious and the second time for dinner when my partner fell in love with the chicken casserole. Huge praise indeed from him and he would love the receipe.
