Good fish and chips, but getting a bit pricey now. The ever changing priorities for fast food delivery services are starting to push you to the back of a queue.

Another brilliant experience. Order cooked freshly and so was piping hot, with crispy chips on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside - just how I like them.

Fish and chips were spoilt by someone in shop putting too much salt on. Don’t know where it came from - could have been in the batter?

Sensational. Not only do they sell the best chips anywhere around, I tried the ribs for the first time, and they were some of the best that I've tried. You don't get to my size without trying a few, I can tell you. Friendly guys serving, too. I travel around 10 miles to get there, the fish, chips and ribs are that good!

Place has changed a bit since it opened, I have been using it since it opened, fish and chips is quite an expensive meal now everywhere that is not the fault of the shop, it’s general supply and the cost of running the business. Since hot food delivery services have started all take aways now seem to have longer waiting times, I collect in person but wherever I get my food from nowadays, there is a queue of delivery people with bags waiting for their collections. Whether the people ordering would be queueing that is subjective. I Always enjoy the food which is cooked well, the guys are great.

Good chips parking is ok as is got parking for shops out side

I've visited more than half a dozen times and every single time it has been awesome. The chips are something else. Light and fluffy inside and crispy on the outside. The batter for the fish is amazing and this is quite simply the best fish and chip shop around. What a shame that you can't dine in, they would absolutely clean up. Everything is cooked to order, and despite price rises in the industry, the prices are still very reasonable.

Chips were pale and not crisp, cod was tasteless. We are usually pleased with meals from here but not tonight. Was not good.

I have been buying fish and chips from this shop for several years now, it used to be very good quality indeed. Unfortunately, the quality has gone down considerably over the past year or so also very expensive. Shame really.

Good quality fish, crispy dry chips - the best local chippy!

We had cod and rock, which was fresh and perfectly cooked, with a light crisp batter. Ordered large portions, but medium would have been sufficient. Two portions of chips between three of us but one would have covered us. They don't deliver, so best to phone your order through and collect. Deliceroo & Just Eat available but I don't use them.

We have cod and chips from here every Saturday evening and it is quite simple the best ever! The batter is so light that it really stands out against the competition and we simply wouldn’t go anywhere else for our fish and chips!

Good was good. Bad points part of the order was missing and no one answered the phone when I phoned or called back, very disappointing after sales service.

The pizza from here is soo good along with the cheesy garlic bread yum yum yum, don't for get the chilly honey 🤤. Psst, Big Mick with sesame seeds is the best! The fish and chips are also very very good, always cooked to order so spot on every time.

We collected because"Just Eat" prices a rip off!! Not as good as we remember,food a bit oily! Staff spent too much time talking about football and because of this they got our order wrong, unfortunately we didn't find out until we got home( rack of ribs missing) ,not happy that we had to drive back to collect them! Wouldn't rush back,disappointing! Had such a laugh reading the owners reply😂

This is probably the best fish and chip shop in Essex and I have certainly praised this establishment in the past,however following my visit last Saturday, I must downgrade my rating to just 3 stars but would stress that the fish remains outstanding,it is purely the chips that are the issue. I alerted the management of my concerns and they responded within minutes of my posting on their Facebook page. A gentleman called Michael explained that this was a seasonal issue caused by the high sugar and water content in the new seasons potatoes at this time of year and he kindly offered to provide complimentary chips on my next visit and that he would even cook them personally for me,which seemed such a great gesture,that is,until he added a final paragraph to his response,chastising me for my negative posting,and because of that, I politely declined his kind offer. In conclusion,if you was first class fish,then this is definitely the place to go but just hold off for a couple of weeks before ordering any chips because they would simply be supplied as a somewhat soggy mush at the moment. I have no doubt that the management will respond with venom rather than accepting constructive criticism but I believe in being totally honest and fair in my reviews.

We ordered fish and chips on Monday 31st.and was very shocked to see 3 members of the team who was cooking had no masks on .They have a notice to tell customers to ware a mask to protect themselves and others on the window .Ware is the protection from our food being contaminated from droplets etc with the pandemic going on .

Very happy with the service , very kind people . The food was very high standard, it was freshly made . The wait for food was quick and not long . We went when it was nearly closing and they gave us a few stuff for free .

We’ve been using Chris’s for a few years now and NEVER go anywhere else for our take away treat. Our usual order is Rock eel, Ribs and large chips. I can honestly say it’s ALWAYS ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. We travel from Southend and on the occasions we’ve used the Harley the staff even wrap our order in foil to keep it hot until we get home. I’ve never heard of any other Chip shop going to such lengths and it’s very very much appreciated. Despite the current situation and throughout the whole of the last lockdown the service, staff attitude and quality of food have been nothing less than perfect. So well organised and customers too, I’ve found, to be extremely considerate of others and try hard to keep a good distance from each other’s whilst waiting. You guys are absolutely fantastic. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL YOU DO. 🥰xx

We ordered our food on the website and paid for it and now just waiting. When my phone rings from the shop to say my order will not be able to be completed but they offered any thing else to put it right. We had ribs which were the biggest best portion of ribs I’ve eating for a while chips and in place of our chicken a pie and nuggets which we agreed on the phone. The food that arrive was very good the nuggets were breast meat battered not minced up rubbish the rest of the food was hot and fresh and very nice will defiantly go back very impressed with the service would recommend this place in a heart beat.

Have used Chris Fish and Chip shop few times recently. Great service, girls on the tills always polite and give an A1 service. Food is really nice and fresh. would highly recommend.

We always get our fish and chips delivered and without fail they have always arrived hot. I was never really a fan of fish and chips until we moved locally and found Chris’s. I now know why everyone raves about them!

A weekly treat, keeping everyone to the Social Distancing rules (Go in, order pay then wait out ) Food and service always excellent.

Being one of the many people craving fish & chips during the lockdown we expected a long wait. We have never been Chris’ before and it was just by chance we called as we were having no luck anywhere else. When we got there there was an orderly queue outside that moved so quickly. When I got inside I could see why! The staff were working so hard to get people’s orders out. I stepped back outside to wait and it wasn’t long before our food was ready. Now the taste......best fish & chips in this area hands down! So fresh and tasty! I think you guys are doing really well in the lockdown and keeping people happy. Well done.

Was really looking forward to a takeaway and supporting a local business, but the reception I got when I called to place an order was so rude I decided to spend my money elsewhere. Understand that the currebt situation is stressful but whoever answered the phone this eve was shocking.

We really love Chris’s fish and chips, we come from hullbridge just to get them each time! We especially love the JD Ribs, although the last few times, they have been very very tight with the JD sauce. The ribs are lovely and tender and just fall off the bone,but the sauce really does make them fabulous. I especially asked the young girl for extra JD sauce last night and she said this wasn’t a problem, but no still a tiny amount of sauce not even covering the meat! I do wish I had taken a photo now to prove how little there was on them! Come on Chris’s Rayleigh you need to be as good as the Brentwood branch, we use this too quite a bit when we go to friends! And the sauce you get on their ribs is amazing!!

In have eaten a lot of ribs in my life but there's take some beating. Never had a bad meal.

Unsure how this place has so many 5 star reviews. Chips didn’t seem like proper chip shop chips, tasted like ones you’d get from a Chinese takeaway; they’re also served in a tray, which I really don’t like as I feel they should be served in paper and nothing else. Curry sauce is pre-sealed in individual pots, not tasty at all. Not that generous on the price either. Can only imagine that it’s in a secluded area so it’s the same locals going in each week who don’t wish to venture further out. Much better chip shops out there.
