Best fish and chips in the area by far. Crispy fresh batter and great chips. Spot on. Try out the Metro West Detroit style pizza whilst there too. It's amaaazing! You have to pre-order that though.

The food is awesome but they must have too many customers hence why they are doing their utmost to deter custom Can’t order on phone for collection. Website is slow and naff, no drinks options on website either. Took 5 mins to load and gave up.

My mum had a takeaway from here tonight which was small cod and chips and was definately not upto the usual high standard. Fish was grey and odd mushy texture. Whole lot got shot in the bin. Has put her right off. Very disappointing

A very busy shop and unbeknown to me when I ordered online there are several shops with the same name and my order had gone to another shop, my mistake which I realised when the very helpful girls behind the counter explained. The surly man at the frier with the beard was rude and a complete as***e. My first and last visit

Ok, so I’ve been using Chris’s fish and chip shop for around a year now and it’s gradually got worse, the chips in the last 2 months have got gradually worse, full of black and green bits , old potatoes being used, cod is even worse, dripping in grease , everything tastes old, really disappointing, I get the impression they dont really care anymore and as for price and portion sizes I’m afraid its another example of rip off Britain for me, I’m being honest here

A great choice for some chippy classics in Rayleigh! The food is always fresh and worth the short wait. They have a variety of options from the expected chip shop staples to burgers, whole chicken and ribs! Personally one of my favourite places to get chip shop food.

I had an awful experience. The delivery driver wanted a code which I didn't have and even though I gave him my two different phone numbers he couldn't get acceptance on his machine. This ruined our Valentine night meal and I am still seething.

While the food was fine your habit of stating an unrealistic delivery time on the website, altering it when you receive the order, then extending it yet again before delivery is unacceptable NOT THE DRIVERS FAULT! So I no longer wish to from you.

I can't go too long between visits, because the chips are so awesome. I drove 10 miles to get there, and there's quite simply nowhere else that takes so much care to deliver such great quality food. Every order is cooked especially, so you will wait a few minutes, but you can guarantee that it is piping hot and top quality. I've had the ribs and they are amazing - the Jack Daniels sauce is top notch, and £11 is an absolute bargain. The cod and plaice was lovely, and even the sausages in batter are tasty. I don't bother going anywhere else for chips - this is THE place (or should that be plaice :))

Great service. Chips were 3/4 crunchy crispy. Our preference is to have potato filled chips.

Our family love Chris’s fish and chips from Grove Road, Rayleighxxxx When family come to stay from west country or finland we always have to get a chris’s . We ear once a month either lunchtime special- mum and I or on a weekend x3 of us and delivered or pick up - thankypu chris’s best fish n chip shop around we ❤️

Best takeaway in Rayleigh.. Food is unbelievable. So fresh.. the peri chicken is better than Nandos.. regular customer, please don’t ever close!

Absolutely "banging" fish n chips, generously sized, cooked to perfection and so tasty. Friends from overseas wanted a bit of old English nostalgia and were over the moon with this food experience resulting in six clean plates and six satisfied smiley faces. I Well done guys your reputation will now go international as far as Australia and Zimbabwe, you did England and your trade proud.

Honestly the best fish and chips I have had in years ! Cooked to perfection. We had visitors from Australia and Zimbabwe all gagging for good old English fish "n'' chips, they were over the moon with the quality and size, six clean plates the end result. Well done to Chris's for completing a special event.

The chips had more bruises than a boxer going 12 rounds with Tyson. @ £4.70 a portion… not impressed. Ribs were nice… not sure they’re worth £16 though

As usual excellent food at a reasonable price delivered when I wanted.

We ordered Ribs, Rock eel and chips. The service was great and always has been every time we’ve visited. The food was fresh, very hot and tasty. Really can’t find fault in anything. We live a 15 to 20 minute's drive away (depending on traffic) and are happy to do so because we know the service and food are always top quality. Thank you

Me and my partner have visited here twice in 2 days, we have had the cod, the ribs, cod bites and the chips and HONESTLY we will never go anywhere else this place is amazing. The quality of food is incredible, the amount of food is so good and the price is definitely worth the food. Anyone who would ever complain about the price needs to really understand that the quality of food is so worth paying for! So happy we found this chip shop! Gives you a proper fish and chips dinner🤍

To anyone complaining or mentioning price, give your head a wobble. I’ve just found this shop and now had it 2 nights in a row because of how excellent the food is ! Priced so well for the amount and quality of food you get. Had cod yesterday, not greasy, and lots of meat on the fish, and had ribs today and well …. WOW We’ve tried searching for a “decent” shop for ages around Rayleigh, and I was getting sick and tired of fish that is smothered in oil it’ll lather your mouth or barely any meat on them. This is now our go to. Thank you!!

Fish was dry, no flavour and chewy. Chip portion size is tiny now. Definitely gone down hill

I had the plaice and large chips and both were awesome. The batter on the fish is light and crispy, and the chips are light and fluffy on the inside and beautifully crisp on the outside. It has to be the best fish and chip shop in Essex, bar none.

After trying the Jack Daniels ribs last time, I just had to have them again. What a find, they are awesome - I really haven't tasted ribs like them. They are full of meat, the bones fall away so easily and you get a rack and a bit per portion. As always, the chips were just perfect. I really don't think I have been to a fish and chip place that nails the quality every, single time. I drive from Basildon to Rayleigh to get a take away as the take aways in Basildon are so poor in comparison.

As usual was delicious. Fish was so white and batter so crispy, and the ribs were the best we ever had. Along with the chips, (also great), all delivered piping hot. Wonderful.
