I know this is really random, but does the name Thomas Pawsey ring any bells? He is my 7th Great grandfather and I believe this used to be his home where he worked as a farmer/farmhand. If so, I'd love to hear more about the history of him and this place!
So staying at the Palace Hotel Buxton for my birthday weekend was very shocked at the prices for an evening meal so googled food places near by. Fancied fish and chips with peas and gravey. Was the best I've had for 10 years! The gravey was proper the chips was beautiful not fatty greasy, the peas amazing and the fish was stunning all fish with batter rather than the opposite. Loverly family running it.
Absolutely delicious fish and chips – perfectly crispy and fresh! The prices were just right, offering great value for the quality. The place was spotless, and the staff were super friendly and welcoming. My kids loved their juicy burgers – they couldn’t stop talking about them! We’ll definitely be back.
Changes have been made here in what was a brilliant place to visit..shame.... I feel for those who enjoyed their coffee and meet up we are now stranded outside with takeaway cups and limited pastries etc....I still attend and loyal and will continue to as long as top barister Shaka is there to make coffee....wish u well Su Ling with your new concept and dreams but was so so good before x
Disappointing to say the least & it's such a shame as this used to be a lovely lil places to eat & have coffee. Toasted sandwich (£10) was expensive for what it was & i had the extra delight of a hair in my last mouthful that clearly wasnt mine & the once lovely selection of cakes is a poor show now. I know this place is up for sale & I hope a new owner can rejuvenate it as I feel the current owners have somewhat given up & this shows in the atmosphere, the ripped tables, the poor quality food & the customer service.
Visited Reedham earlier in the year and, unfortunately, the public toilets were locked. Both cafés open. Other wouldn't let me use their facilities; this one did.
When visiting again today, we obviously came to this café for coffee and cake as staff had been kind and understanding last time.
Good coffee and cake. Sat outside. Parasol was put up for us when we asked. Friendly staff.
Views across the river.
This was our third visit to the restaurant - the food was delicious and the service excellent. Staff were very attentive throughout the meal making our evening very enjoyable nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be returning.
