I came to this establishment as I have been coming prior to the change in management for I’d say the best part of 2 years (and had I’d say found it fantastic, quality and cost as well as staff). Today, total opposite… so disappointed, food order on 2 of our meals wrong, the other 2 meals luke warm. With the breakfast they had no white bread, and limited or no stock on certain soft drinks. Prices on a cup of tea since change of management have shot up by 70/80p to £2:50 (seems a huge jump). Won’t be having tea again. Can of fizzy cost more than a can in London!Needles to say my favourite local I won’t be so fazed to rush back for a breakfast.
This was our first visit but often it had been recommended to us and we were not disappointed. The atmosphere and décor are lovely, staff are friendly and efficient and the food is lovely with an extensive menu. We had breakfast bagels and they were lovely and plentiful. We'll definitely return.
Just had a lovely full English breakfast. The cafe is clean with a homely feel. The owner seems to have a friendly cheerful character. I detect a great sense of humour combined with a take-no-prisoners attitude. Tracey is definitely a salt of the earth character, (in a good way!). Proper butcher's style sausages, thick bacon, crunchy yet fluffy hash browns, perfectly cooked eggs and good quality thick sliced bread made for an awesome breakfast. Definitely worth a visit. I'll be going back.
Fantastic tasting menu, nothing the fault the service and staff were very professional, served approx 60 people very efficiently, would definitely recommend.
Well that answers the question about the stables:
Food mediocre to poor
(Veg kept hot so dry and not trimmed of stalks)
Meat dry
Roast Potatoes kept hot so long they were too dry and tough on the outside to eat
Sticky toffee pudding very sweet and not hot.
Service poor topped off by a waitress managing to drop a caraffe of water (luckily not red wine) which soaked my shirt trousers the chair, floor and table. She said sorry but not to me. Cleared up the floor but left the wet napkins in a pile on the wet table cloth.
No adjustment to the bill.
Won’t be back

Been stopping by Peckish whenever I get the chance for probably 15+years now. Great service and great food. Best sausage and bacon roll I have ever had.
Absolutely lovely. Hidden away and tbh we were a bit thrown by the location lol but the seafood, service and ambience was outstanding. Will definitely return!
A group of girls out celebrating a birthday, we decided to stop here for 1 drink & stayed the whole night! Really lovely venue, friendly staff, great dj, lovely cocktails & not expensive. A restaurant by day & a bar by night, on a Saturday, will definitely be back for drinks but will also come back for food, just what Clacton seafront needs Xx

Amazing local family owned business. With great coffee that taste just great.
Interesting food and pastries from Brazil and Portugal.
With friendly atmosphere that sometimes feel bit overwhelming due to popularity of the place between local people.
Definitely worth checking out and visiting. Anndrzej ☺️
