I did a hot yoga class with Hakan (instructor) and i found it very unfriendly for new comers, especially beginners. It’s a shame as the classes and studio itself are advertised as friendly for beginners and all levels. There were a lot of movements that cannot be done as a beginner and there were no efforts made to adapt/modify exercises. There were points where l had to just sit there looking around because I couldn't do some of the more advanced poses and the instructor did not offer any modifications. There should be a notice before signing up to the class to indicate it is for advanced students and not for beginners. There was a strange smell coming from the mats in the hot yoga studio. Additionally, the website states they have showers - which they did not have. I’m also disappointed to see how they respond to reviews - very polite in higher reviews and very passive aggressive in lower reviews.

I would highly recommend Camyoga for a lot of reasons. It's a good place to practice yoga, because the instructors are very passionate with what they do. Very skilful and knowledgeable. They challenge you so you get your money's worth. Front desk team always great and exudes so much positivity. I've been in this studio for a year plus. Al, Anna, Hannah are very supportive and helpful staff at the front desk! Always friendly and welcoming! Wonderful teachers, Emma Lindsey, Amanda Shaw and Hakan! They’re outstanding and very talented teachers! They teach Ashtanga and Baptise style vinyasa, Yin yoga, Meditation a lot more. Check Camyoga page for schedule of classes. They have so much classes in a day that would suit your work/family life schedule. It's a studio that builds community. People are so friendly and helpful. If it's your first time, don't worry everyone is very friendly. You'd be surprised who you meet in a yoga studio. The both studios are very neat and well organise. It's very clean. It is well maintained which I believe is a plus for every yoga studio. If you want to try something new or looking to continue your practices this a right place! They have a very good facility for this. Very central based! Well experienced teachers. It's very CLEAN too. There is a very good package for that in the app. Thank you again Camyoga 🙏

Really enjoyed my first class in Camyoga with Anita Tambala. What a nice studio and a great teacher! I wish there were more warm/hot classes, HotPod studio is always packed, but it's too far; why not schedule at least one a day in Camyoga )))

I am a Bikram Yoga Yogi and i am studying to become an Ayurveda Doctor so i decided to become a yoga teacher also. I have just called this company and the man on the phone was trying to get my phone number so someone could have called me back with the full information i was looking for. I was explaining that it would be hard for them to call me as i do work and i might not be on the phone etc...This man didn't ask me anything else and just like that said ok goodbye and he put THE PHONE DOWN IN MY FACE. I can only say this to you, this behaviour is not even close to yoga and Ayurveda and just by this example i can determine who you are. I wish you well because you need a lot of work there and perhaps you need to study about yoga and Ayurveda a bit more. Thank you

I never thought I would have to give a yoga studio a bad review. For some background, I have been a student of yoga for over a decade, practiced in numerous countries, with countless teachers. Never before have I seen instructors berate students in the middle of class, or tell a student they were not allowed to do any movements that weren’t instructed by the teacher. Yoga is a deeply personal practice, which should be guided, not dictated. One student was even told she was not “advanced” enough to sit in the front of the class, and I actually had 1 teacher tell me that I had poor teachers previously because of the way I was holding a certain pose. How dare you judge the practice of another yoga instructor. No two teachers are the same, and their differences in teaching style should be celebrated (obviously potentially harmful positions are the exception and should be corrected- this was not the case). Obviously now that my package has ended I will not be returning. I hope the instructors at this studio remember the core purpose of yoga, and address their judgement of others accordingly.

Really enjoyed this class. I’ve practised hot yoga in other establishments, whilst fun, is less focused on correct technique. This class was a lot more “serious” which I loved. I found Camyoga has much greater emphasis on proper form and alignment and I learned a lot. (Jozef corrected many mistakes I didn’t even know I had). Great class.

Great range of yoga styles. Shop very small with little stock. Classes very overcrowded so little personal interaction with tutor. Little correction of postures. Overpriced class fees.

I guess I will need to continue visiting this studio in the future for the lack of anything better in central Cambridge (80 per month). However, I wish they could be more like Triyoga in London (100 per month) or Tribe Yoga in Edinburgh (95 per month) which are in a similar pricing range but offer so much more such as infrared heating panels for the hot yoga classes which ensure that you can breathe during class while achieving the proper temperature. I wish Camyoga could invest in this essential more than anything - this will make the experiene of hot yoga so much better. I wonder if they should actually be allowed to carry out hot yoga classes when they heat up the studio with the heaters which are currently in place, unfortunately there is no regulation in place yet. I would also recommend diversifying their teacher body and creating a more innovative practice - perhaps send their teachers for further training which will allow them to provide a more interesting practice. I think that Camyoga should not allow the lack of competition within Cambridge to stop them from innovating and investing in the studio. I saw that another reviewer here had a similar impression - if Camyoga wants to charge the prices they do, they should really consider giving more in return.

It all started really well with the studio in Cambridge central, but it all went really wrong with the one in Mitcham corner. The central studio has both male and female changing facilities, whereas Mitcham corner hasn't. The only 2 tiny rooms (the size of a fitting room in Primark) were out of order due to refurbishing works, so we were offered to get changed in the 2 toilets instead (really???). The classes and the central studio, so far were busy but decent and manageable. The class that my boyfriend and I attended in Mitcham corner, was crazy busy, packed with more than 30 people (bigger studio, but no doubt that it was overbooked) and we couldn't even move our arms when the teacher was asking to do so. I sent an email of complaint about Mitcham corner as I came out of the class feeling sad and distressed, as well as feeling like they don't care at all about clients well-being (otherwise they would provide changing facilities and keep the numbers of the bookings to an acceptable level), but also the reply left me unhappy. Instead of recognising a problem, they were defensive and told me that as a new client I am not aware of the refurbishing works, although that studio doesn't have changing facilities. Really? Maybe instead of having a vegan restaurant in the reception area, they could put female and male changing facilities. Second point that they made: CAMYOGA is a no profit Company and just manage to keep afloat. Really? £17.50/class? When the average is anything between £10-16, with an avarge of £13 anywhere else in London? I'm looking for a place where to feel relaxed and positive, where I feel the client wellbeing is important as well. I will keep going to the central studio, until my new client offer will run out, but at present I won't join the membership option.

I am a long-term yoga fan, and have tried a wide-range of classes, styles and locations. In looking for a class in Cambridge I have been very disappointed with Camyoga. Camyoga seems keen to promote a particular lifestyle, but their ethics come across as rather superficial. I have tried a few classes on a drop-in basis, and each time have been harassed by the reception staff to sign up for membership, rather than welcomed and made to feel at home and allowed to explore the studio. The teachers I have met were variable, some better, some worse, but none I have met specifically welcomed newcomers or made an effort to find out if I (or my partner) had any special requirements. In the class I took this week the teacher neither said hello to the students on entering, or goodbye to the students on leaving, instead she just strode in and out of the room. She pushed my shoulder into a painful position and only asked afterwards if I had an injury that was making the manoeuvre difficult. The classes are VERY expensive compared to others in Cambridge, and although it is true that the studios are well-equipped and clean, I would much prefer to use a less 'hi-tech' space, (or dusty village hall as one other reviewer put it) and be taught in an environment that made me feel that my needs (rather than just my financial contribution) were recognised and respected by those involved in running the classes. Yoga is a wonderful tool and journey of discovery in all kinds of ways but I won't be going back here to continue it.

Camyoga is one of the many places in Cambridge where you can attend yoga classes (and by far one of the most expensive). Initially, I had not minded the extra expense because I thought I was getting extra value in the quality of the spaces, the teachers and the way I could be treated as a 'GOLD' member. The prices at Camyoga are higher than many high-end London venues so the expectation of quality was high.Despite the high standards, the Camyoga cut a significant portion of its classes over the summer, calling it a 'summer break'. This meant that the 'unlimited' use of yoga that I had signed up to in April could no longer be used on the majority of classes that I was available to attend based on my work schedule and other commitments, because all of these classes (particularly the morning classes) were discontinued. There was NO explanation given for Camyoga's decision to discontinue the classes and no apology to its 'GOLD' members that had voiced serious disappointment by this development. Despite this, I faithfully continued to pay and attend a much smaller selection of classes that did not interest me.Now, after five months of being a loyal member of Camyoga, and having given in that short period hundreds of pounds to the centre, a member of my family went through a really sudden trauma, which meant that I very suddenly needed to quit my job, pay large sums of money on healthcare, and move my whole life to the other side of the country to become a full-time carer. This was a very difficult time for me both financially and emotionally. I had a set of subscriptions/commitments that I needed to cancel as a result and EVERYONE except Camyoga was very understanding and compassionate (even the Financial Times).A woman called Aicha who is in charge of the 'money' at Camyoga, on the other hand, showed no compassion whatsoever and insisted that I needed to pay a VERY large 'surrender fee' to stop my monthly payments to Camyoga. When I explained that I do not have that money right now and requested that we delay payment to a a later date so that I can get through this difficult period first, I was told that this was not possible. The best they could do, Aicha said, was to "meet me halfway" by deducting £20 from the overall 'surrender fee'. £20 was barely even 10% of the total amount that they insisted I owed, so by no means "halfway".Yoga is supposed to be about compassion and understanding. A yoga centre is supposed to be a sanctuary and a place to escape the nastiness of the rest of the world. I am APALLED that in my time of need, Camyoga turned out to be the insensitive corporate giant that was demanding to take all my money right away, with NO appreciation of my loyalty to Camyoga for the last five months and the huge sums of money that I have already paid.Furthermore, I know that Camyoga will have NO trouble finding someone to take over my membership, since the student season is about to begin and I know from many of my friends in the yoga community that students will be signing up by the masses. Camyoga does not NEED my surrender fee and does not care that I cannot afford to pay it right now. No offer to cancel, or reduce (by a meaningful amount) or even postpone payment, despite the very obvious trauma that I was going through.Would not recommend.

'Camyoga offers a really varied range of yoga styles so someone new to yoga can have the opportunity to see what style suits them. All taught by very experienced and friendly teachers. There is also a wonderful vegetarian and vegan choice of food at there cafés which encourages the whole yogic approach of good diet. Both studios offer mats, props etc so if students are walking or travelling by bike they don't need to worry about carrying lots of equipment.’

Our aspirations create our reality and engaging with camyoga like its a spiritual community rather than an organisation has given me tangible benefits. Being new to Cambridge when camyoga first opened its George IV studios meant I was immediately treated with a full and diverse timetable of yoga, a vegan cafe and a positive community. Rather than just pop in and out of classes I took the time to say hello to people in the change rooms and in the yoga studios and ended up making friends for life with likeminded yogi's. Camyoga's teachers are impressive. Embodying their own practice and ethics they teach in creative and dynamic ways gently pushing me on my own journey and refreshing my home practice with new inspiration. I'm grateful to have such a peaceful place to find refuge in amidst my busy life.

Disappointing and expensive. Having recently moved from London, I tried Camyoga’s 1 month introductory offer but eventually decided not to join, despite my love of yoga, and ended up joining a local gym offering daily yoga classes instead. Although I enjoyed some of Camyoga’s classes, I was disappointed overall. Why? - The venue was cramped and lacked basic facilities. Camyoga is actually made of two office rooms with limited ventilation, one of which is (inadequately) used for hot yoga. The rooms tend to be packed and the hot yoga room absolutely stinks even before classes start due to the absence of ventilation. - There are NO SHOWERS, which is a pain after hot yoga, especially when cycling back on cold winter nights. - The men’s changing “room” looks more like a closet than a room. 3 to 4 people hardly fit in, often forcing members to have to wait for their turn to change in the tiny corridor. Girls seem to have to queue in the corridor too. - Although I enjoyed a couple of classes, in particular Zita’s hot dynamic yoga and Karen’s Iyengar which were really great, I found most other teachers average or below average, compared to London. - Few classes actually run during the weekend, so that Camyoga can charge extra for so-called ‘masterclasses’ taking place on saturday and sunday. - This would be fine if Camyoga’s membership prices reflected these few shortcomings, but they have instead chosen to align themselves on luxury Central/West London venues prices, something that does not seem justified in my eyes. - Unlike pretty much all sports and yoga facilities around the UK, Camyoga do not offer a break clause to your annual membership should you have to leave Cambridge. ALL other gyms in Cambridge offer such clauses. I tried to negotiate one, but their part-time sales guy remained inflexible. Camyoga have a great website and seem to be very good at promoting themselves. Perhaps the management should spend a bit less on marketing and a bit more on the facilities. Such a shame! I would have loved to join a dedicated yoga club in Cambridge, but found Camyoga’s bizarre mix of pretentious and expensive amateurism frustrating.
