Buxton Fried Fish & Chip Shop in Broadland

We were recommended to Buxton. Having driven 20mins, will it be worth it. Arrived to a long queue. The the wait. Well yes it was more than worth it, perfect fish and great chips. Arrived back at caravan still nice and hot. I will return.

Only had tail of cod, treated like alien for asking for middle,took it , reluctantly,wish I hadn't, nothing but skin and batter,had indigestion all night

Asked for a large portion of chips and paid £3 for it to share with 3 other people Given what I would call a small portion. When questioned on the size of it, woman confirmed it was a large portion! In reality only enough chips for one person. I'm disgusted by what I would call a pure example of extortion. Very poor show Buxton F&C

Quite possibly the best fish and chips I’ve ever had, and I’m horrifically overweight, so I know my stuff. The staff took on a massive order for 14 of us, everything correct, perfectly cooked and the price was so reasonable, under £60 for everything, what more can I say - fantastic! First class 10 out of 10!

Have been having fish and chips from this Buxton fish and chip shop for years, Amazed that a reviewer said the chip portion could be counted on one hand. Always excellent fish and chips and generous portions. No way you would get only five chips.

After travelling for 4 and a half hours for a NYE retreat, it's annoying to find the only nearby takeaway closed when their website states open.

Always friendly and welcoming. Cod and chips twice - always freshly cooked to perfection. Easy parking outside. Clear instruction procedures displayed about COVID.

A Fri or Sat night tea to remember week after week after week and you will never get fed up or the friendly service or quality of the fish change. Johns father had a F&C shop and John's son and all family work in the shop and they know with experience what quality fish to buy and serve up to their loyal and discerning customers. If you want a fish and chip night in do not hesitate to try here

Best fish & chip shop around, we have use this place for many years and it’s always very good. Second to none and always worth the drive.

Lovely fish and chips cooked to perfection and didn’t have that horrible greasy after taste a lot of chips have. People were also really friend and nice. The only thing My wife and I would change is the chip portion size, you could count the chips on one hand. My wife, who always has a small portion because most chip shops give too many, said in future I’ll have to order a large portion. This seems mad considering the cost of a potato and the reputation built by good portion sizes in this country, right or wrong. But please don’t take that as too much of a negative because the food was really lovely.

Having a real problem finding a good chippie in Norwich but on friends advice we drove out to Buxton and had the best bit of fish we’ve had in a long time. 👍

This is a take away chip shop, family run, bright, clean and efficient, good menu.portions are generous, service is quick and friendly, fish is very fresh , beautifully cooked,their prawns are cooked to perfection, chips just as they should be, my favourite chippy.

Very busy, but quick service. All staff very friendly and efficient. Great portion size freshly cooked, crispy outer with professionally cooked fish. I noted something from the past bags of crispy bits, and a customer had chips with crispy bits on top. Excellent.

We all had cod and chips. I remember this fish and chip shop from when I visited my relatives back in the 70's. The chips were lovely. My family really enjoyed their fish, I thought mine could have done with a bit more batter and a couple more minutes in the fryer, but all in all a nice meal from a Chippy I have fond memories of.

We have enjoyed wonderful fish and chips for a number of years from this amazing fish and chip shop but last Saturday a group of artist friends and myself were able to sample delicious cod and chips after a morning painting on the river.

Just about every fri eve we pop over to Buxton for the best fish and chips for miles. Im not a fish eater so Im always a pie man, but the missus always has fish and is never dissapointed. Skate was really impressive one evening. Everything is so tasty, fresh, and the staff are lovely. Really nice all round and well worth a trip.

Always a treat to have fish and chips... even better when they are top quality. There's always a queue outside this chippy but that's no surprise once you have sampled the goods. We often have a treat from this shop and have never been disappointed.

We always go through Buxton from Aylsham on our way home and this particular night the children decided they wanted chips for tea. Buxton Fish and Chip shop in our opinion is the best in Norwich.

This family run chip shop is without doubt the best in East Anglia. The quality and taste is second to none as are the portion size. Always a friendly welcome and great range of choice. Year in year out simply the best.

We have been going here for years....we have a choice of 4 chip shops locally but always choose this one, never a bad meal, always fresh, very friendly service. You know its popular as frequently queued out of the door! Easy to find and free parking too.

For a small village this fish n chip shop is one of our favourites. We use them about once a month after we have taken dogs for a long walk. Most things are cooked while you wait , so are lovely hot and fresh. Friendly service.

Drove a few miles from our hotel based on the Tripadvisor recommendation, and we werent disappointed. Great cod. Amazing chips. Good portions. Very friendly service from the people running the shop, and good value. The only slight regret from us was that the take away wrapping stuck to the batter of the lovely fish and peeled off when we unwrapped. But no big deal. Would definitely return!

A family run business with a great reputation, even though I live within a 10 minute drive from Buxton I would happily travel much further to visit this fish and chip shop, the family that run it are extremely friendly and vastly experienced in the industry, something that shows through in the quality of the food. You may occasionally have to join quite a long queue, but it is well worth the wait. A busy business is testament to the quality of the product that it purveys. WELL WORTH A VISIT!

Always been to Buxton chippy regardless where we have lived. We come here every week, friendly. Peak times they can be queuing some distance. There is parking outside and next door is a mccolls shop which had a post office and are open till 9pm. They are closed on Mondays. Always made to feel welcome and the quality is always great. This place is definitely a massive perk of living in the village.

Alison and John have many years experience of running fish and chip shops and it shows. Always good quality food, fresh and tasty and decent value. Would definitely recommend it for those nights when you can't be bothered cooking or going out!

In a small row of shops in the village of Buxton this family run chippy is patronised by customers from far and wide. Always a queue but the service is excellent and the fish chips and other food on the menu everything you would expect to find is here and the quality is always good well presented and hot. A range of cold drinks is also available.Telephone orders are accepted and bulk orders prepared to be collected at an agreed time. I can not speak too highly of the friendly service the excellent fish and chips fried as you request it all at a reasonable price for a wholesome portion. If you are in the area try this takeaway if you like fish and chips I doubt you will be disappointed.

So lucky to have a great local chippy. Fish was boneless, cooked to perfection & good crispy batter. New potatoes being fried at the moment, it's so nice when they're in season. Correct portion size too.

This has to be the best fish and chip shop in the world but don't tell everybody. It's popular enough as it is! The queue is often out past the door and onto the car park. It's worth waiting for though. The portions are a really good size and freshly cooked. The fish is always really fresh, nothing frozen here. We have to limit ourselves otherwise we would be fat as barrels.

Living in a nearby village for many years we have taken the easy main road route to another larger fish and chip shop. On recommendation from friends we tried Buxton (Norfolk)Clean, bright and well run. Very friendly lady serving. Good prices (3 standard cod and chips, 1 large cod and chips and a large sausage and chips was £22)The pieces of fish were fantastic, very impressed. The best I'd had for years and certainly much better than others nearby. It is tucked away if you're not local but worth the search.All good - will return
