This was our third visit, and we think this is a great restaurant. It has a nice feel to it, whether you land at a table, the window stools or the bar. We aren’t price driven, but couldn’t help to notice the value on offer here. A full lobster yesterday at under £30 is ridiculously cheap compared to other places in the UK. The prices of the premium champagnes too are very keenly priced which is nudging us towards getting a train in and enjoying them. The food is excellent, the delivery of the oysters is excellent. Always annoys me when they come attached, sometimes a little gritty, but not these, these are incredibly well delivered. Little details like the minted potatoes I notice. There is pride in how these are prepared which I think highlights the detail across the plate. It’s always busy, but luckily we have managed to be squeezed in on all three occasions and the service is as good as the food. We sat at the bar yesterday, fascinated by how busy it was, the staff were on the go every minute, but they still had the ability to scan and notice their customers. Special mention to Alma, she was excellent, friendly, very busy but very attentive, she was ace. Everyone though is excellent, it’s a solid team and it appears they enjoy the delivery of the excellent food. Flawless for me this, outstanding on every level

Absolutely brilliant food. Value for money.. very busy 3rd floor restaurant with several others in the building. Baked jacket potato. Salad and a cake to finish and all for just £24 for two

This restaurant has a charming location within an independent department store. It is easy to book online. We had the fish platter for two, which appeared to be a very popular dish, and it is easy to understand why that was the case. The food and service were excellent. We would definitely visit again when next in Norwich.

Mu husband and myself have just visited The Bay at Jarrolds for our wedding Anniversary treat and after reading the reviews I was a bit hesitant. However I need not of worried, there were three girls working today and they were really friendly and very attentive to us and all the other tables around us. We had the seafood platter for two, which besides being absolutely delicious was really reasonable. We ordered a take away curry at the weekend and this was more expensive than our whole meal including a large glass of wine. The only negative I could think of are that the chairs, as you get a certain age, were really uncomfortable small bar chairs; which I suppose get a quick turn round of tables because you certainly wouldn’t want to sit on them for too long! But overall highly recommend a visit, even if it’s a quick one!

We were looking for somewhere to eat lunch when visiting Norwich for the day. Had read excellent reviews of this place but there didn’t appear to be availability when I checked on line. We popped in on the off chance and were seated straight way. Sat on high stools overlooking the market, so fabulous outlook when eating. Enjoyed a delicious tuna poke bowl washed down with a glass of perfectly chilled rose. The tuna was fresh and perfectly seared. My husband had the fish pie followed by Tiramisu. He thoroughly enjoyed both, especially the novelty of “injecting” more Tia Maria into the Tiramisu using a pipette to suit his tastes. Excellent service from all and fantastic value for the quality of food served.

The female staff at the Bay are excellent: friendly, efficient and genuinely trying to make their customers' experience an enjoyable one. Sadly, the same cannot be said of the young man who served us yesterday. He was inattentive, surly, and even rather argumentative. Not a pleasant experience. I suggest that if he doesn't like his job, he gives it up and does something else for a living

Firstly the staff require training however having tried this place on a few occasions now, and having minor issues with each previous visit, I think it is a management problem . Attitude from arrival departure really does need improvement. My wife and I shared the seafood platter. Both ended up with food poisoning. We specifically mentioned that the prawns were not right. We did not eat all of them due to texture more than taste. The response from the waitress, and I quote, “ Yeah, I’ve heard that from other customers” Contacted Jarrolds customer service via email. Follow up with a phone call. The person I spoke with advised me that the complaint had been received and that I would be contacted. Five days later. Still no response.

If you find yourself hot and bothered in the centre of Norwich at lunchtime, I recommend the Bay on the second floor of Jarrolds delightfu department store. Sit at the bar wirh a cold Picpoul and some asparagus (in season) scallops and smoked salmon or push the boat out with a half dozen oysters. caviar, washed down with some Pol Roger. The lunchtime clientele is predominantly female, so a perfect place to take a respectable lady, although Saturday afternoons are given over cocktails. Sounds dangerous.

We ordered the seafood platter for two . The prawns were under cooked and the smoked salmon that should have been chilled was warm. Needless to say I got very sick after eating the food there. We won’t be returning

Good quality and well presented seafood at reasonable prices, in pleasant sunny setting. I enjoyed a selection of 4 different salmon dishes which were delicious.

Grosvenor Fish Bar, an assuming American style quirky chippie that serves clam burgers and fried green tomatoes so tried them. The clam burger reminds me of canned clams from the US but the patty also had other stuff which gives it a garlic bread taste. The fried green tomatoes were a bit too hard for my liking while the tomato slices were not juicy. The basement of this restaurant is a must visit.

OMG this place was bloody awful! Let me start by saying I expected good food from this place as this place is popular amongst people around this area. I ordered a large tail end of fish, beef and onion pie, gravy and chips, I received a medium which was way over cooked which made the fish hard under the batter. The pie was nice once I took the lid off. The lid and pastry was also hard and had obviously sat under the light way to long. The chips greasy but edible. The gravy cold. Also I don't know whether it's just me but this place smelt like urine like the cooked grease

Simply one of, if not THE best fish and chip shop in East Anglia and beyond. Terrific quality, great staff, and I do mean great ! Miles heads up a great team and business, and upon my last visit I was informed he’d opened another ! So I shall be tracking that down next visit. Thanks so much for continuing to use traditional dripping, over the more recent conversion to ‘oil’ of some sort or other !

Sad that they are closing after all these years. Always Friendly and with good quality fish & chips.
