First time visit to shimlas , we were greeted by very friendly staff . - I had a chicken korma and my friend had a lamb madras both were vey nice and full of favour. Highly recommend a visit to this lovely family run restaurant, will definitely be back again

We just moved to Attleborough and was lovely walk to this restaurant. We were welcomed as soon as we entered with lovely manors. It was my birthday so a treat amd wow what lovely treat it was. Not a fault could be said, service, quality of food and value was perfect. It was nice to have a meal that so full of flavours the meat so tender. Not a greasey taste or any residue of it left on plates. We will over ordered but they put what was left in containers to take home. Even if did not live local would travel to eat here

We got a takeaway 15 Aug 2024: my husband enjoyed his dhansak, but I had veg biriyani - claggy and tasteless. It was just rice with a few of yesterday's unidentifiable vegetables in it and included several boiled potatoes to bulk it out. Mum had King Prawn biriyani (tasteless and expensive), she left virtually all of it. Won't be going back here.

The food was fantastic. It was packed with flavour and so tasty. Everything was freshly cooked and very delicious. The service is the best we’ve had for a very long time. Friendly, professional, attentive service. They’ve got it spot on. Honestly can’t wait to go back.

Had a lovely early evening meal. Service friendly and efficient. Nice to hear Indian music and not random pop. Prawn purée was excellent as were the chefs special Royal Bengali lamb curry, chicken Makan Whala and prawn masala . Brinjal bhaji side was very tasty with perfectly cooked aubergine. We will return.

Another visit to this great Indian restaurant - a significant improvement on the others in town. Attentive and friendly service. Kitchen very efficient as well as producing a wider-than-usual range of dishes of high quality. Much less greasy than elsewhere- you know you are in for a treat the moment the papadums arrive. And competitively priced.

There was 15 of us for a birthday meal and the staff couldn't do enough for us. The food was absolutely amazing, tasted so good, fast service and even supplied a cake. Will definitely return

Had a really long day at work and didn’t fancy cooking so decided to give Shimlas a try Definitely best curry house in Attleborough Really tasty dishes

Decided to try out Shimlas due to friends telling us about its amazing dishes and polite staff. Food was brilliant, as well as the staff making sure we were all enjoying our time.

On a wet a cold Tuesday whislt in the local area on business, I stumbled by this place. It was clean, well presented and welcoming. As I sat down we were off to a good start as they served non- alcohol Kingfisher! Popadoms were fresh and not oily. The chutneys were well made and full of flavour. Starters I opted for lamb chops which were very good. Main - a spicy lamb khari with a few twists I like. When served it was well presented, the tandooi roti was prefectly cooked and the rice was fresh and fragrent. Portions were large and very tasty All in all not to be faulted. Staff and the boss were very nice and I ahd a long chat with the owner. In short - very good! hard to find fault with anything

Food arrived promptly and was absolutely delicious, one of the best curries I’ve ever had. Spot on guys! Good job, many thanks 😘

The food that was not only presented to a high standard, the taste was amazing. The portion size was more than enough to fill anyone up. The menu is reasonably priced, large section to choose from. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

Pre Christmas get together with friends. Tuesday is the buffet night with a starter, main, side, rice or naan bread for £16.95. I chose not to have a side and had rice and naan instead. Tandoori mushrooms to start with lamb dupiaza for main.....absolutely amazing....Best I have ever had. Staff were friendly and attentive without being over intrusive. Was recommended by one of the friends I was with and it did not disappoint. I would definitely eat here again.

The worst chicken korma and mushroom rice I have ever had, very bland, korma sauce watery and tasted like the yogurt /cream had gone off, bitter in taste. Chicken was undercooked and stringy.

This was the second time I visited this restaurant. The first time the food was pretty good but the atmosphere wasn’t good at all. If you are looking for a quiet place to eat and enjoy company then this place isn’t for you. We went on a Sunday which is suppose to be a banquet night which means any starter, any main dish, any side dish and any rice or naan for £16.95. However when we got the bill ( for 2 people) we were charged £80. Yes, I had 2 glasses of wine at £8.50 each and my husband had a coke but this still didn’t equate to £80, especially as it was only suppose to be £16.95 per person. We couldn’t understand why we were therefore charged £80? We didn’t want to upset the staff so we decided not to say anything. HOWEVER…. We then decided to try this restaurant again as we fancied a curry and as the first meal was OK we thought let’s go again…. So we arrived….. We were greeted nicely but then everything started to go down hill. Before we ordered this time we questioned if the banquet night was on this evening. Yes was the response. So we ordered the starter…. Which was in fairness good. I explicitly advised the staff that I was dairy free so the server advised me what I could / couldn’t have. I placed my order on the recommendation of the staff. Then he came back and advised me that actually upon speaking to the chef I couldn’t have that particular dish…. OK so I ordered something different which I was told that they would ensure that it would be dairy free. I received my food and started to eat, however I then realised that the chicken that was covered in the curry sauce was actually tandoori chicken. I immediately questioned this with the staff and they said I should not be eating this as the chicken was marinated in yogurt! I was really upset that I had been given food that contained an allergen that I specifically advised them that I could not eat. Now I was really worried how my body would react to ingesting dairy. They did another dish for me which I was reassured it did not contain dairy, however this time the chicken was completely inedible over cooked, rock hard and tasted really old. The owner of the restaurant came over and I asked him to try the chicken and he agreed that it was really bad! So my second meal was taken away… by this time my husband had nearly finished his meal. I waited for my third meal to arrive however feeling more and more anxious as to what would arrive in front of me. Whilst waiting the owner came over to me and questioned if I really wanted to have this dish made with chicken as he said the chicken quality would be the same as the last really bad chicken !!!! I said yes, as long as it wasn’t going to be over cooked, edible, dairy free and not spicy… he went away to get my food. By this time I was getting really fed up….. my food arrived I took one mouthful which was SO SO spicy, the chicken again rock hard and inedible and to top it off my bread and rice which was left from the previous order was stone cold. This time I had had enough, I called the waiter over and complained about my experience and said I wanted the bill and that I was not interested in even attempting to eat anything else. The bill arrived and all my food had been deducted. I spoke at length with the server and said that my experience had been awful and that food allergies should be taken seriously and that ALL staff should be aware of the contents that are being served to customers. We left very angry. Now I had to wait and see how my body would react to ingesting dairy…. Low and behold I have been poorly and in the bathroom throughout the night and still going through it this morning… It should be noted to ANY customer that unless you specifically mention about the banquet night you will be charged the full price. This is FALSE advertisement! Whilst the restaurant itself is pretty clean the toilets are absolutely filthy and this needs to also be addressed. You will see by the length of my post how disgusted I am with this restaurant and would say that anyone who has a food allergy to never visit. It’s really lucky that I do not have a food allergy that is life threatening but I will however be suffering for many days ahead. Needless to say we will not be returning ever again.

First visit after moving to the area. Food was excellent and the staff really friendly and helpful. Service was quick but not rushed. We will definitely go again.

WORST SERVICE EVER, did not recieve full order after waiting near 2 hours, no apology from the staff or offer to have missing items delivered urgently. Only offered refund for undelivered items which we are still waiting to recieve after 2 weeks. Whenever we call to chase refund always told the manager will call back, they never have! The food is not worth a penny, you can get a better meal with more flavour from a tesco ready meal. Absolute shambles of a resturant. Stay well clear and spend your money somewhere better!

Lovely!! Went for a birthday meal, the service was quick and the staff were really friendly. Offering for drinks as soon as we had finished one. The food was delicious, I ordered a lamb pathia- this is marked on the menu as no chillis however this is an error, as it is akin to a madras. However they customised it and made it less spicy for me which was great! Peshwari naans were incredible. Had tandoori chicken for starter, and Lamb pathia with pilau rice for main. We enjoyed it, would go again!

Party of 7, quick service from an attentive, cheerful team of waiters. Excellent food, perfectly presented, full of flavours. Extensive menu with old favourites and unheard of dishes for the adventurous. Great banter with the staff made it a fun evening, not just eating out....

Great opening night at Shimlas, Attleborough. Food was superb. We were a table of 8 and the service from the staff was fantastic. Sal Bashir kept us entertained throughout the evening with 50's and 60's Rock n Roll.

Had a fantastic first night on the opening of this revamped and refurbished restaurant. Food and service were top notch! My Shimla Flaming Grilled Chicken was lovely and caused quite a scene when they set light to the Brandy! And my partner loved her Tikka...
