Lovely location. Welcoming, spacious hotel with a superb room for people requiring accessible accommodation. The attached restaurant is exceptional. Warm, friendly staff. Despite a busy event schedule, my room remained quiet. I will happily stay at the hotel, again.

. . . what a delightful place, escape. A friendly welcome with loads of homemade food on the menu. We chose the broccoli and cheese quiche; delicious and accompanied with coleslaw and salad. It was lovely to see others enjoying the same. We will definitely return and thoroughly recommend.

Friendly welcome & comfortable inside seating. We called for a nice pot of tea & not disappointed. Big tea pot, extra hot water, & only Ā£2.20 for two people. Good menu offered. Home cooked food. Farm shop small but has a good selection of fresh veg & assorted home made pies.

Visited for my wifeās birthday as this restaurant is quite expensive but very nice. Theres a big car park, thereās loads of places to sit in the bar and the restaurant is tidy and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful and they had put a birthday card on the table. Good low alcohol beer selection The food was delicious and attractively presented. My wife had the pigeon and I had the octopus which was a bit over cooked and tasters more like a bratwurst but surprisingly, with the other parts of the dish, tasted really good . We both had venison which was well cooked and good portion of new potatoes and courgette. My wife had the strawberry cheesecake and I had the peach Melba which was an interesting twist on the old favourite with warm peach slices, both dishes were tasty. My wife was given a plate with happy birthday on it with some brownie pieces and fruit and cream which was almost a sweet in itself. Not unique to Red Lion but why do restaurants take so long to bring the card machine? Will go again for another special occasion.

I love the old fashioned English pub in nice surroundings and this did to a degree meet all of that. The bar here is good with a great selection of craft beers, the abbey brewery one being particularly nice. The interior of this pub is a mixture of old and new but could i ask the owners to replace the worst wall paper I have ever seen in a pub. Supposed to look like stone with what appears to be a mock bookcase as part of the horrendous pattern this was a throwback from the seventies. It would not have been so bad had it not been put up by an amateur who left creases and miss matches all over. We came here for lunch which I have to say was very average. I had sausage and mash that wasnāt great. The sausage was the oddest I have ever come across and at first I thought it was one of those veggies things as the taste and texture resembled them. One of my friends had the duck burger and said it was delicious, the other two had the pub trades version of hunters kitchen which they said was very dry and both of them left most of it. Taking all into account including the outrageous price of pinot Grigio this vist was ok but it would need a lot of changes to compete locally and get me back again.

Have been going to the Miners arms for 20+ years and have never been disappointed with the food always good quality and the staff are very friendly. We both had the steak and mushroom pie today it was very tasty and the vegetables were delicious. Always have a good real ale on hand pump. The pudding's are very nice as well I had the plum crumble and my partner had the Guinness cake that was really good. Always busy need to in advance.
