We called here while out & about taking pictures in the area, a nice warm welcome and a nice clean place. We had English breakfast and tea, the food was fresh and hot and a traditional pot of tea made with tea leaves. The food was really nice and the staff very friendly 10 out of 10 from me. An added bonus it’s connected to a farm shop again i was very impressed.

Called in after a walk with the dog (dogs allowed). We had a half breakfast and tea. The breakfast was tasty well cooked and worth the £5.50, one sausage, bacon, egg, black pudding and beans with a slice of toast. The staff were friendly and efficient. We will be going again and recommend giving it a try. For two half breakfasts and a pot of tea for two £15.00. We paid double that at Chatsworth's Kitchen at Rowsley and that was not a patch on the food we had at Highfield House.

This lovely little place serves 100% the best cooked breakfast in Derbyshire. Everything is cooked to order. You get bacon rashers, sausages, eggs how you want (fried, scrambled etc) mushrooms, beans, black pudding and toast with butter. They also do a half breakfast which as you would expect is smaller. Other dishes are available and equally as delicious as the breakfasts and they do a range of desserts and cakes. The usual teas, coffees, milk and juices are also on the menu. If you enjoy the food in the cafe do have a browse in the fast-food farm shop. And last but not least, the staff are reliably efficient and welcoming.

Highfield House Farm Shop was an absolute lifesaver during lock-down, when they transformed into an all-singing, all-dancing shop where you could buy pretty much everything you needed. Their range is still brilliant and every Thursday, just after lunch, "Shaun the Fish" turns up in his van with his catch from the boats in Grimsby to sell delicious fish. Josh and his band of merry brothers and sisters at HHFS are all charming, knowledgeable and skilful. Particular faves for me are their lamb cutlets and - every few months - they have heritage breed Dexter cuts available. Josh also gets the veggie haggis for me, which I love (apols to all those true haggis lovers). But, this weekend, we had a very special treat indeed. They'd made hot water crust Dexter meat pies. OMG - these were sensational. Well, it was. The meat was cooked low and slow - the gravy ooooozed out and was rich and deeply flavoursome, pastry the right balance of crispy and soft. I have a mind to now only serve these to guests. Super reasonable at £6 per pie with masses to go round 2 people. This is an absolute must (but please don't buy them all before I get back to them). Bravo my friends :-)

Honest review as always Today I visited this lovely farm shop and cafe. Staff were friendly and I received a very warm welcome. I ordered a pot of tea for one and a breakfast. The tea: served traditionally, tea leaves instead of bag (always bonus points for me) the milk came in a miniature milk churn. The breakfast: Only one word for it - devine. So I'm from Dorset, and used to farm shops and farm cafes with fresh ingredients not catering wholesale food. This cafe hit the spot. The best breakfast I have had since I was back in the south west. The sausages were tasty (not catering sausages) bacon was cooked to perfection. Mushrooms were fresh and not tinned. Egg had set whites but still a lovely runny yoke. I couldn't fault one bit of it. Portion was reasonable to the price. The breakfast was full of flavour. The only suggestion that I could offer was I would have loved a poached egg as opposed to fried but this is personal preference. The cafe was exceptionally clean and well presented. Menu was varied. Customer service was polite, prompt and friendly. I would highly recommend and will definitely visit again. Thank you.

Great farm shop with a range of their own sauces! They have all kinds of sausages and meats, all of which are delicious. Per kilo the beef is 20%+ higher in price than my local butchers, but you expect a little gouging with these types of places. Quality the same. Great quality and a full lineup of products. Will be back!

We popped into the shop and bought the most delicious pork pie, scotch eggs and sausage rolls for lunch at our nearby holiday home. Small but well stocked with a wide range of fresh and frozen meats. Stopped for a cuppa and piece of cake in the tea rooms which was so enjoyable we decided to return once we'd checked out to fill up on a full English breakfast before our journey home and we were not disappointed. I can honestly say until today’s visit Highfield House Farm breakfast was the best we’ve had in the area. However on our visit today we were extremely disappointed. The breakfasts have gone from a fat farm shop sausage to three piddly chipolatas, thick cut tasty bacon to thin frazzled and tasteless. Whole field mushroom to what appeared to be tinned, no halved tomatoes, black pudding or local oatcakes on offer. This is still charged at the same price as before. My recommendation to Highfield Farm would be to charge that little bit more, which I’m sure most would be happy to pay, to get that wonderful food you used to serve.

We visited the farm shop today to purchase some meat for a BBQ. We have been holidaying in nearby Alton and the owners of the cottage specifically recommended the meat at Highfield House. I can testify to the excellent quality of the meat we purchased and although it was more expensive it was far nicer than the meat we purchased from the supermarket earlier in the week, so worth every penny. However we left the farm shop feeling a little deflated due to the reception we recieved. The atmosphere was very cold and the man behind the counter, although not outright rude to us seemed a little irritated by us. We spent a little while deciding what we wanted and the man actually made a comment about this which unnerved us a little. I tried to lift the mood by informing him we were holidaying in the area and that the farm shop had been recommend in the hope it would spark a conversation. However, instead of responding he promptly turned his back on us and showed no interest or acknowledgement of what I'd said. There were no other customers in the shop so we weren't holding any one up and it was roughly an hour before the shop was due to close so I'm not sure what the issue was. We aren't sure what it was about us that upset the staff but it was very clear that we weren't appreciated which is upsetting as we've had nothing but a warm welcome everywhere else we've visited.

We googled local farmshops and found Highfields and what a find, so its a place of two half's amazing butchers and amazing cafe. Farm shop... The best butchers I have ever come across, all the beef comes of the farm or the next door farm which is great as you know the provenance. The meat selection is great from Barlsey chops to steak and the best sausages, they do all their own cooked meats as well. Great selection of pork pies, pasties, and cheese. The beef has an amazing colour and looks nice and dry (which it should) nothing is to much bother in the butchers, the staff are so welcoming and helpful. Since finding this butchers we have not been to any other butchers and will continue to keep using only this butchers. Cafe... They use the butchers meat for their breakfast and lunches and thats makes it extra special, great menu with a great choice. Food is cooked to order and really hits the spot, my husband loves the dripping on toast and I love their sausage so have the sausage bap. They have a great selection of teas, coffee, and cold drinks as well as a great selection of cakes. The staff are just lovely, so welcoming and provide a grear service, we love coming here as the staff make the visit. Its spotlessly clean and feels nice and bright, they have outside seating as well. Be warned it gets really busy so you may wanna book, if we want good food this is the place we come we always leave with a smile on our faces. So all in all this is a gem of Derbyshire and should not be missed if your passing or fancy a drive out.

Been here a few times, until covid stopped us all going out. Popped in for lunch on our way for a ride around the Chatsworth area. Not as busy as I remember, maybe folk don't have the money to eat out as they once did. We both had the Bacon, Brie and Cranbury Panini, which was quite large it has to be said, and very tasty. It is accompanied by a salad and crisps, which like the main event was very good. All washed down with cappuccino coffee. I have noticed since we have started going out a little, no matter where you go this "standard fare" for two is now near to £25.
