Great rooms great service and lovely breakfast.

The food here is absolutely delicious and the service staff are just so lovely and polite. It’s actually a pleasure to watch such a young team of staff work so in harmony together. The Sunday dinners are A1 as are the week day food menu. Cottage pie is my favourite.

I stayed for a work trip and found all the facilities to be very good. Rooms kept super clean and liked the spcial touch of having a scone left in the room for me. Views from the bathroom were idyllic - shame I didn't have more time to explore the amazing countryside which was so accessible. The rooms were very modern looking in appearance, which all added to a "highly recommended" experience. Foodwise, I only had breakfast which was excellent, but we sat in the bar the night before and saw some fantastic looking plates coming out.

Great place for a stop over. Lovely room, good beer and tasty food. It was incredibly busy on quiz night which made it a less than intimate setting for dinner. I’m sure other nights are less hectic.

We went here and hired the private dinning room for my parents 50th Anniversary. We could not have had a better experience, the service was wonderful and so was the view. The food was delicious too!!!

Went for a meal. We've eaten here many times and have always enjoyed everything as its s lovely place with great staff, good food, alfresco seating with a stunning view. We were very surprised that the chicken dinner was approximately £20, which is quite over priced in our opinion and on top of that it was an extra pound for a yorkie pudding! All the menu prices are high. It's the first time we've been where the restaurant was virtually empty at teatime, perhaps this reflects the increased prices?

The Easter special chocolate fondant was absolutely gorgeous. 100% recommend. Lovely place to sit out in the summer time as well.

Stayed for dinner B&B, everything was absolutely spot on, immaculately clean comfortable rooms with some nice touches, staff and food in the pub were equally spot on, we’ve already booked a return visit.

No need to book. Just turned up to a friendly welcome followed by an excellent meal from an extensive menu with a couple of jars of rather good real ale. Couldn't fault it at all. Thank you

We’ve stayed here 4 times now and it’s our new go to for a relaxing break. The rooms are exceptionally comfortable and quiet. We ate in the restaurant on each of the 3 nights and the meals were top notch each time. Thankfully the Old Gum Tree is still in the wine selection! It’s the staff who really make it though - everyone is so friendly - they truly seem to sparkle with enthusiasm and make you feel right at home Thanks for a great stay.

Beautiful location with lovely views. The rooms and amenities are second to none. The staff are friendly, engaging and make it such a lovely place to stay. We had lunch and dinner, and then the breakfast (which was Inc in the room price) and I can't fault the quality. Will definately be returning. We booked direct through their website, as the so called cheaper booking apps, were more expensive. Unfortunately we only stayed for one night so I cant comment on the surroundings for things to do, and to be fair the comfort of the room made it difficult to want to leave it!

We had a super stay over! Arrived a little earlier than check in, the cheerful foh man was more than happy to get us I. Our room. The room itself was comfy, country and modern! Even a big scone to enjoy!! We had dinner in the restaurant the room was buzzing with people! The hosts were so friendly and the food delicious same reflected in the morning for breakfast! We will be back! Great value for money

We very much enjoyed our stay here except for one thing. The staff were all very friendly and helpful but what doesn’t fit with the general upmarket feel of the place is that all meals (including even breakfast) have to be ordered at the bar. This rather lets down what would otherwise be a faultless operation.

Rang up to ask if they had any last min space as we were greeted with a automated message saying you cant book? We was told that we would wait 5 minutes. When we got in there they said 20, however only luckily waited 5. Once sat at the table, we waited 10 minutes for menus and wasnt told how the sunday service ran so didnt know how to order food or drink. After 15 minutes we were told we had to go up and order but they didnt have any cauliflower cheese, lamb or pork! We all ordered chicken. When we got the cutlery it was slammed down and was dirty and looked to have old food on it? We asked for new which came after we got our food. When the food arrived, it looked completely different to others around us, yorkshire pudding was palm sized compared to the gigantic ones on others plates. Others around us had also received cauliflower cheese but we didnt! We didnt bother asking. Then half way through one member of our group pulled out a long hair in the food, at which point we all stopped eating. We was checked back on before this happened but all the staff to be rushing around and didnt seem like they were botherd about if everything was ok woth the meal just seemed like they had to do it to avoid complaints. We soon left before our table had even been cleared. The pub has so much potential and we were very disappointed in the standard of the service and meal, the staff seemed more interested in getting tables in and out. We wont be back anytime soon, we hope this was a one off and just a busy sunday which to some degree we can understand working in hospitality ourselves.

First time at The Peacock. It was recommended by a friend of ours,and we are so glad he did Everything about the visit was great, apart from a table of really noisy diners . No one's fault of course. The food and service was superb and the view was gorgeous. We will be back.

While in Derbyshire for a weekend my hubby & I decided to go here for a meal on the Saturday night, we weren’t disappointed. We rang to book a table but the message said no bookings but to turn up anyway as we wouldn’t be waiting long if a table wasn’t available. In our arrival it was very busy but we were told we would have a table in approx 20 mins so we went to the bar and got a drink & 20 mins later we got a table. You really won’t be disappointed, the food was lovely & plentiful, the service was quick & friendly. The prices were reasonable

This is a really lovely place to stay . So comfortable , in every way With lots of attention to detail. Breakfast was lovely too Staff are a delight I highly recommend.

Consistently good food and service

A fabulous 2 night stay at the Peacock, we stayed in the Phoenix room celebrating my wife's birthday, the room was fantastic has everything you need and more, the bathroom with its free standing bath and walk in shower were amazing. The room itself had fantastic views of the countryside. The pub had a great atmosphere with great food and a great choice of drinks, a special thanks to Owen and Cathy and all the staff for looking after us. We highly recommend the Peacock Mark&Diane Huddersfield 🙂

This place is very popular with walker's and dog lovers because it’s in reach of Derbyshire Peak District with amazing views what ever the weather. We went for Sunday lunch and I’ve never seen so many dogs in a Restaurant! The menu is limited for Sunday lunch but still plenty to choose from. We all had Beef with Brisket it was so tasty I’d recommend to anybody. It’s a place you have to go up and place your order yourself and also if order drinks at the same time because they won’t take orders for drink at the table. Also if you find you can not face dessert after the main course they do a takeaway service which is great. The only thing is if you order Crème brûlée they ask if you can bring the ramakins back! Please be aware you can not book a table. We had a wait of 40 mins just sat outside with a drink and took in the view. Will call back when the weather is better to eat outside on the veranda over looking Derbyshire amazing all round.

This is my first visit here and definitely won’t be the last, the service was outstanding and the food even better. The few requirements we had they went above and beyond to accommodate us. It really is a lovely place to heat . I normally single out a specific staff member to give a mention on trip advisor but everyone was good and a credit to the place

Very nice & cozy atmosphere, all the dishes we tried were well thought and very tasty! The service was very good and attentive! All in all, a great dinner out!

Not stayed here yet but I am sure we will do. The food is some of the best around!! I do recommend the Sticky Toffee Pudding.

Stayed for relaxing night on New Years Day. Phoenix room was very clean and amazing with very large bathroom. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. The pub and restaurant had a lovely atmosphere. Breakfast was hot and tasty. I would highly recommend. We have booked for the end of 2024.

Just been treated to an overnight stay celebrating my 40th birthday at The Peacock. First impressions on arrival were beautiful, the entrance with the snowy trees and reindeer were a lovely touch. The staff who greeted us on arrival were friendly and professional. We were shown to our room "The Fuggles" it was clean, cosy, and the bathroom was great with a walk in shower and bath. It had everything we needed and some fantastic personal touches. The dinner and breakfast were tasty and presented well, staff were also very attentive. We both agreed that in all the places we have stayed and ate, The Peacock gave the best service overall. We will definitely be returning in the future, thank you for a lovely surprise.

We had a one night stay at The Peacock whilst visiting Chatsworth House as it is only about 20 minutes journey between the two. I had originally booked the Phoenix room but was contacted on the day of arrival to ask if we would like an upgrade to the Boadicea, their largest room, which was a lovely birthday surprise. We arrived in the dark so didn't see the wonderful view until the following morning, and what a view it is. Our room was very spacious and well equipped with bathrobes and slippers, tea and coffee making facilities plus a beautiful fresh scone, clotted cream and jam awaiting us. The bathroom was also beautiful and a great size with a freestanding bath and walk in shower and those views! The super king size bed was fantastically comfortable giving us a great nights sleep. We had an evening meal and as it was a Sunday it was a roast, as advised we had pre-ordered our choice of meat to ensure it was still available. The dinner was lovely and plentiful if a little pricey. Breakfast I have to say was absolutely delicious and we sat in the orangery to take further advantage of the glorious view. I have to say that all the staff were friendly, polite and helpful and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The only downside for us during our stay was that the wifi wasn't working, not sure why as we were given the password for the pub but we found we had to use our own data. We didn't mention this as we got by and it didn't detract overall from our stay and we wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Peacock again.

Great atmosphere, lovely views from the restaurant, super quick service and friendly staff. Huge plates of food, but food taste/presentation had a "mass produced" aspect. There is better.

Went for breakfast with friends, nice clean friendly atmosphere, some of us ordered full english breakfast, some small others large a little disappointed with the large as was £4 more in price and only got 1 extra slice of bacon and 1 extra sausage in my opinion not worth the extra cost,although breakfast was nicely presented and tasty,service was good.

We called around 1pm today for Sunday lunch. We were greeted very pleasently and given a table straight away. The pub was extremely busy but had a great atmosphere. We ordered the roast pork and roast beef and both were delicious. The portions are huge and the quality excellent. The girls serving were pleasent and efficient with nothing too much trouble. If you are after an excellent Sunday lunch you can't go wrong with the Peacock.

Stayed overnight at the peacock as going to Chatsworth House. A place where the little details makes the difference. Just the little thoughts that 99% of hotels don't bother with. They took as normal. Stayed in the cottage across the road. £139. Had the whole cottage to ourselves. Wonderful. Lovely hotel, well presented, great food, very clean, every staff has smiles and looked like they were happy to be there and to help with any question. Nothing seemed to much effort. If only all hotels worked this way!! The staff make the difference to the details. Nothing looked rushed.

We stayed two nights in one of the adjoining rooms, which was really nicely furnished with a wonderful bathroom. The large scone for us to share was a really nice touch. The food on both nights was a very good standard and we really enjoyed the breakfast. The staff we found very attentive and made our stay very enjoyable. We will most certainly return again.

This is a wonderful Pub/Inn. and the modification of additional accommodation give the place an ideal place for a business retreat. Warm fire, well appointed rooms with class and style. However, my overnight stay recently Was an unfortunate disappointment The room was not clean and the breakfast was over cooked. If you are to charge a premium rate then the basics must be addressed. No offer of a refund for the breakfast or a reduced rate was given ....

Can't help but feel disappointed again. The food was hot, but lacked the originality we used to enjoy at this restaurant.

Highly recommended. We went with friends for a meal. Wonderful decor, friendly helpful staff. Service was quick despite being busy. The food was amazing and there was a selection of vegan friendly desserts. When you're dairy intolerant one dessert option is wonderful, 4 choices made me very happy. The sticky toffee pudding and ice cream was amazing 😍

I would like to comment on the breakfast but unfortunately too much prosecco the night before hindered me sampling any! My husband had breakfast though and he said his was lovely. Will definitely return.. and drink less prosecco!! :) xx

We’ve visited Peacock at Barlow few times past years. It’s consistently great. Rooms are clean and very well equipped. Lots of little personal touches. We love coming back. Christmas decorations are looking amazing this time of the year. Food is fresh and tasty. Staff is very polite .

Food was excellent but the service leaves a bit to be desired. Tables are cleared literally as you eat, of the 3 of us one finished so the waiter collected his plate standing with his hand out for my friend to finish her last 3 mouthfuls and proceeded to stack these waiting for myself to take my last 6 mouthfuls again with his hand out. Height of rudeness & tables should not be cleared until all have finished their meals unless there are unruly children at the table. They then took our drinks away which we were still drinking. Appreciate they are busy but there was no communication that we were not welcome to finish our meal & no timeframe to get out given. As a paying & returning customer it was very uncomfortable and it was happening to all tables.

We stayed here as part of our visit to the Chatsworth House Christmas Market, themed House and lightwalk. There are only 8 rooms, however, the service, the staff and location (about 10 mins from Chatsworth) are all excellent and the food was also fabulous...the portions are huge..! And they even have ther own microbrewery..! We would definitely book here again, we had no complaints whatsoever and were delighted to have found such great accommodation.

My only negative is that one end of the dining room is quite basic and not as cosy as the other. Food excellent.

Amazing room with a spectacular view, all the rooms with a view will have a similar view and can pay for the option of a view so definitely worth it! Very nice attention to detail in the amenities, comfy bath robe with lovely little local biscuits with tea bits n bobs. Breakfast was pretty good and lavazza coffee so very happy with that. Would definitely stay again. Thanks very much for the lovely hospitality, felt very welcome by the team!

A very upmarket country pub with great views. Very well decorated. The menu has lots of gluton free option's. The food was good , with large portions but pricing is on the high side. Definitely go again in the future.

Can't recommend The Peacock enough. The rooms are so comfortable, food really lovely and the service exceptional. A great place to stay if looking to go on hikes and explore the local countryside or stay cosy in the pub.

Great pub/restaurant ! We visit the Peacock far more than anywhere else because the place is very pleasant to spend time in and the food is excellent at all times. Three of us had bacon sandwiches that were first class - lovely partly toasted breadcake...

Meals are always spot on. Service by all staff is second to none. No worries here. Plenty of choice for your meals... Hard to find anywhere better.

Stayed two nights bed and breakfast. Absolutely stunning throughout from entering and seeing the metal dragon and Edward scissor hands sculptures. The room we stayed in was called the Northdown, and it was immaculate with under floor heating in the shower room. The breakfasts were beautiful and we stayed to have evening meals both nights and OMG cooked to perfection 🥰

My wife and I stayed only one night but would love to return. Excellent place to stay as the room was lovely. Great food. Parking available. Micro brewery on site with option to buy. Had to move on the next day but wished we could have stayed longer. We will return. Recommend.

Just there for the food. Busiest when I've been and it makes a difference. Steak Pie was lovely as is the fish pie and belly pork is good too. Great flavours in everything I've had there. Service is always good but better when it's not as busy. Only ever had the scones as a sweet but they're always good. If the lady on the table behind us would have stopped giving it the la di da it would have been better, my god she had some lungs. Overall a great place to eat, never disappointed.
