This is the absolute best coffee house around. Impeccably clean, the friendliest staff, the coffee is perfect and the food is delicious. A wonderful place to sit and watch the world go by.

My daughter with milk and egg allergies was desperate for some vegan ice cream on our long trek up Steep Hill. Unfortunately our timing was just out and we missed the ice cream place where we had intended to go by 3 minutes! We happened to walk by this place and when asked were told they had 2 types of vegan sorbet. Now my daughter gets pretty frustrated at being fobbed off by the offer of sorbet in place of ice cream (the latter containing milk/cream of plant based variety and the former being frozen squished fruit with no milk/cream) so was initially reluctant to try it. We are SO glad she changed her mind. In all honesty, the sorbet was absolutely delicious and better than any ice cream we have ever tasted! It was creamy AND fruity (we had a scoop of the lime and a scoop of the strawberry). She loved every mouthful. We will definitely be buying again when we visit Lincoln in the future. Thank you for making a little girl with allergies incredibly happy 🥰

I went on my 22nd birthday 🎂 with my Brothers and it was very enjoyable. The atmosphere was chill and the vibes immaculate ✨️ The service was attentive and welcoming. The food came out with great timing. Since the tables are quite small it came out gradually which was monitored diligently by the staff. The pricing is fair for the quality of food you get. They gave me a sushi birthday plate with a little candle, which was sweet of them 😊 If I lived in Lincoln I would go more often. Also, shout out to Max the server for chatting with us, super nice guy.👦

A proper no-frills local boozer with very friendly staff and locals. Four regular cask ales and two rotating ales. The beer was extremely well-kept and the glasses spotless. Super dog friendly and a great open fire. Well worth a (short) detour off the tourist trail.

Probably the best steak pie meal I've had - pies and sides are phenomenal, service superb, beautiful building. Not quite five stars as at dessert stage we were disappointed, rosemary wasn't detectable in the apple and rosemary crumble, and the cheeseboard was just supermarket cheddar/brie/stilton straight from the fridge - for a county with such brilliant local cheeses that was a let-down. But you won't need a pudding, stick with the phenomenal pies and sides (be sure to try the mushy peas) and you'll be well fed and happy.

I am starting my review with the following statement that gets added to the bill so reviewers can see how this restaurant operates without having to read the full review ' 10% TIPS INCLUDED - FOR PARTIES OF 1 OR LARGER, 10% GRATUITITY IS APPLIED AUTOMATICALLY. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS SPEAK TO THE MANAGER' We had 4 tapas and some bread and also ordered a bottle of wine. We asked for a bottle of Rioja that was listed on the menu but we were told that was not available, so we moved to the one above it instead. We waited for our wine but then we were informed by our waiter that instead he could offer us a different red and that it would be £40 (approx.) I said well the wine I ordered was around the £30 mark and didn't really want to pay £40 - mainly because I am not sure why the customer should have to fork out an extra £10 because they cannot locate the wines they have listed on their menu. He informed me that he would knock the service charge off the bill. I thought this is strange because we are only a table of 2 people, why would there be a service charge? Thankfully one of his colleagues located the bottle of wine we had ordered and the issue was resolved. Our food arrived and we must say, it really was mediocre. The gambas were incredibly expensive for the size of the portion and the size of the prawns. When the bill came we could see that they had added a 10% service charge with the statement on the receipt ' 10% TIPS INCLUDED - FOR PARTIES OF 1 OR LARGER, 10% GRATUITY IS APPLIED AUTOMATICALLY. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS SPEAK TO THE MANAGER' What a strange approach and way to manage tips - tips SHOULD be discretionary, not mandated. Tips should be left based on the service received and the dining experience. Secondly, stating that 'for tables of 1 or more' automatic tips are applied, you cannot get tables of less than 1 so basically this restaurant is stating that all diners will have this automatic tip applied. Would we have left 10% for the food and service received , no we wouldn't have done. Will we be back or recommend this restaurant? No we will not.
