Burton Road Chippy in Lincoln

A great local chippy. Food was freshly cooked and served by efficient and friendly staff. I don't expect a chippy to have much in the way of atmosphere and this didn't disappoint.

My grandson had a detention after school, so i was tasked with collecting him in my bright blue Honda Jazz. I was driving down the road when all of a sudden…… Burton Road Chippy caught my eye like Kate Moss and a bag of coke. I NEEDED to get my wrinkly arse in there and scranalise a battered cod (or three). I was absolutely blown away with this food. So much so, that my grandson ended up having to stay the night at school! LOL! At least he wasn’t late for english class the next morning!

Definitely one of the best chip shops in the area. The staff are always friendly and welcoming and the chips alway fresh and well cooked. This is definitely a place that I’ll be revisiting.

Whilst we were away we visited, we were very impressed by the size of portion, everything was freshly made. The fish was really good and the chips were excellent. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

These are the best chips in the area. I am a bit of a chip connoisseur so when I find the perfect chip, I have to spread the word. The staff were fantastic, too :)

Me and my partner ordered Cod and chips. Very reasonable pricing on all menu items. Our order was ready in just 5 minutes hot, fresh from the frier and it was absolutely delicious. They should introduce interior sitting for a nice dine-in experience as there were only two tables and 4 chairs all outside the shop as it seems they're now mainly focused on take-aways and Uber eats and related services.

Was very busy with locals, so must be a good chippy, with it was.

We tried here due to reviews. There was a big queue which shows how popular it is a d a good sign however our food was awful. We ordered haddock and chips, curry sauce and a peas. The curry sauce was lovely. Sadly the peas were tastless, the fish was small and thin, the batter disintegrated upon touch and there was a thin layer of fish. The chips were not very tasty either. My food went in the bin as I couldn't eat it. I'm hoping it was a one off as a lot of people rave about the place.

Now I must admit I'm not a fan of chips but these from Burton Road are always piping hot and delicious. The best in Lincoln

We’re local to the area and call in as often as possible with this chip shop. Our order was two sausage, chips, large curry sauce, cod, chips, mushy peas and scraps/scrumps with a can of dandelion and burdock. All of this came to just under £20, so quite reasonable to be fair. The staff were nice and friendly but it can get busy for walk in orders, the queue was nearly out the door, but it’s understandable given how nice it is here. They also cater for Deliveroo/Just Eat etc. Highly recommended 👍🏻

Always fantastic fish.and chips...but tonight (24th November) we could really taste the oil...?? Think maybe it needs changing..?? This is a first negative for us though...and we will go back..!!

Called in for sausage and chips waited over 15 minutes as only 1 other person in and all they were interested in was uber eats and just eat orders !!! 3 staff only 1 serving Eventually walked out and went to the Elite where I got served straight away and gave me NHS discount!

A great chippy all-round! I'm glad I only live down the road from it because the customer service is fantastic, it's very reasonably priced and the food is delicious.

Always friendly service, feeling welcome and appreciated. Staff are always greeting you with a friendly smile, and really care about their customers. Food is always consistent and tasty.

I thought I'd Try ad it had been a long time, the staff were lovely but the food wasn't anything special, I've had much tastier chips and peas from elsewhere.

The fish had this incredible crispy layer outside, and the inside was just melt-in-your-mouth tender. And those chips? Oh my goodness, they were like these golden bites of heaven. The whole vibe of the place was so cozy and inviting, and the folks there were super friendly. I'm already counting down the days until I can treat myself to that awesome fish and chips experience again!

My partner and I, decided to give this chippy a try as it's so close to our house. What a mistake that was. We ordered one fish and chips and one sausage and chips. Both the chips and the sausage were dry and only partly warm. The fish (cod) which is £2 more expensive and only half the size of the haddock, was also sadly dry. While the elderly lady behind the counter had a friendly personality the chap on the till and the chap on the fryers had the welcoming feel of a funeral. I would strongly recommend going else where, Fish King on the forum in hykeham is much better. Perhaps lowering the fryer temperature to achieve a less over cooked batter and to maintain more life in the sausages, as I'm sure with a food probe you'll be able to assure the products all reach over 75 degrees.

Really disappointed with our meal after all the good reviews and it's always had a good reputation. Ours was such a let down...ordered haddock and chips x2, fried chicken, sides of cheese and mushy peas...fish was so flat I've had thicker pancakes, chicken was dry and tasteless, portion of cheese was miniscule for the price, peas watery and tasteless. Chips were nice but that was it. Needless to say we won't eat from here again.

This is now my regular Lincoln Fish & Chip venue. High quality food prepared and produced to the highest standard, all fish and specialities cooked to order. The staff are brilliant and provide a first class service, I have no problem recommending them and in my view best F&C shop in Lincoln.

Fish and chips were lovely BUT, it was really sad to see the staff in muzzles and even more so that they were pulling at them constantly and then handling the food. Just take the things off. Its time to wake up to the CONvid scam.

Chips were tastless and not consistent colour or texture, like some old chips that had been sitting there for a long time had been mixed in. The curry sauce was not nice at all.I had a fishcake which was tasty and nicely cooked, and the battered sausage was also good. We only went here because Newport chippy was closed which is the better chippy in my opinion.

Went to chippy on Friday and had to wait in queue for over thirty minutes before being served. Seems they were more concerned with telephone and internet orders than they were with waiting customers.

The fish was really good cooked to perfection chips were great for me although the wife thought they needed to be cooked a bit more. This is a matter of taste. The downside was even though I requested xtra salt and vinegar on both it was only put on the fish. The fact that the salt and vinegar was absent from the chips spoilt a nice meal. For those who may say why did you not go back. I had driven off on my way back home 70 miles away. Then stopped to eat them further along the journey. Moral of the story. Keep salt pepper and vinegar sachets in the car.

Always open from morning till late. Plenty of seating inside and out. Freindly staff and the food is not bad. Hot drinks are also served on request.

Now I'm not from Lincoln so unsure of the going rate round here. Nor was I aware I inadvertently turned up on a gluten free day. Notwithstanding these caveats I felt £18 for a fish, two small sausages, a small battered sausage, a curry and a small and large chips was a touch heavy. Especially given the £4.80 the chips cost was barely enough for two adults and two three year olds. Honestly the £1.80 small portion was laughable comprising no more than twenty chips. No wonder the woman raised a quizzical eye when I asked if a £3 large would accommodate the four of us. Alas the food was of a good standard albeit the curry sauce very sweet. I'd suggest going here if you're feeling simultaneously flush and guilty in advance, calorie conscious, yet want a treat. You ain't getting much to feel guilty about, you'll be lighter for the empty pockets but have sated the desire for a bit of grease.

Great place to buy gluten free fish and chips, now every Tuesday when they have changed the oil. Got so regular we had to stop and have it every other week. I so missed fish and chips, and they are even nicer without all the gluten in it, so I really wonder if it would be better for them to drop gluten products all together. 😀

Ordered mini fish chips and peas along with another meal. Never again. When my Mrs eventually found her fish hiding behind a chip, first cut with a knife and 4 bones !!!! Not little bones, one was as long as her finger. Fish tea in the bin. If you are going to charge top money, we deserve better. Bye

Sustainably sourced Fish, which is very light and amazing crispy batter. Great lunchtime special; fish, chips, mushy peas, bread and butter with a soft drink for £7. The staff were very friendly with a lovely setting up in the Cathedral Quarter of Lincoln.

We ordered online and was able to collect on time despite them looking fairly busy with other online orders. The food tasted incredible as always. The chips and batter was very light and crisp without being greasy. Reasonably priced as well.

This has to be by far the best fish and chip shop I have ever been to! The chips are crisp and fluffy, which the fish is fresh and crunchy. If your a fan of mushy peas or curry source it is fantastic! I can not recommend this place enough!
