Typical British pub. Cosy, friendly, nice selection of beers.

This pub is great the staff and food combined with the atmosphere was brilliant I had a burger with fries was cheap and really good tasty , and the service was brilliant , all the staff are great

Outdated, small, cluttered and worn out. Awful service from some. I wouldn't recommend it. The high Street is much better. It's too small and is either dead or cramped and noisy and smelly. No good events, quite poor running.

Great atmosphere and variety of draught booze

One of my favourite pubs not just in Lincoln but full stop. A real treasure. Proper old school with excellent ales and a lovely open fire in the cooler months. An enclosed sun trap courtyard for the summer. If you like your beer and only have time for 1 pub when you're in Lincoln, go to the strugglers

I've visited here three times in past twenty years so don't quite qualify as a regular but always a must when in Lincoln, in my top ten pub list.

Still an amazing pub with top ales!

This was the pub I was most looking forward to when visiting Lincoln and therefore got in there not long after it opened in the morning. Great selection of ales on tap and the decorations certainly reinforced this. The fire was very welcoming on a cold March morning too. I chose the flight of 3 beers and none disappointed. I guess I was a bit disheartened to have to wait a long time to get served (liveable) but I was relegated a place by a local who came in and was served before me. Maybe a perk of being a frequent user which I cannot deny. What I really didn't like (or expect) was poor 'phone etiquette by some of the other punters. Who in a boozer like this has their volume up so we can hear constant pings of texts coming in? But worse, that bizarre phenomenon of recent years of somebody having their 'phone conversation on speaker! Unreal. I don't like "other people" so maybe just me! No music on here (a good thing) and not busy so you could hear a pin drop. Anyway, beer is great 👍!

Easily one of my favourite pubs in all of England. Always a wide selection of ale, poured to perfection, and all topped off with the best atmosphere in Lincoln. They have a friendly, engaging staff, as well as personable regulars. If you're in Lincoln and enjoy real ale, this is a genuine can't miss.

Great, cosy and tight pub filled with old pump clips all over the walls, a great range of beers and helpful staff.

Brilliant real ale pub serving the best beer in the area. No food, but that's not why you go to The Strugglers! At last, they've spent a bit on the interior decoration, but still a work in progress. They definitely need to splash out on new garden chairs, umbrellas, etc. Some seem a bit unsafe.

Good beer selection. It's small, cozy and has been around for as long as I've been in Lincoln. Can't go wrong with a quick pint or two here if you're in the uphill area of town. One thing to keep in mind is because it's small, it can get pretty busy, even on weeknights.

Where to start 🤷🤷 I will leave the history of the place to those who know and that ain't me. Dog friendly is a given, the real fire is a treat. Great ale selection and I mean a great selection. If you can't find something to your taste, then you ain't looking. The locals are friendly as if you've been here for years, very nice in this day and age but let's get to the bonus, the real ace in the hole. We visited on a Wednesday evening and to say the staff are on another level, makes it sound less than what it means. They are the glue that makes all the rest spectacular. I highly recommend visiting this place, we are certainly coming back.

Bonkers-busy local boozer with the best real ale you are ever likely to find. Very friendly staff and locals and also super dog friendly. Cosy atmosphere with an open fire (🥵). If you love great beer you need to try and squeeze in here.

A proper real ale pub with 10 hand pulls. Two regular beers (Abbott and Landlord) and 7 varying guest ales which always include one session ale (sub-4%), two dark (porter or stout, occasionally mild or black IPA), and one strong ale (5% or above), and one real cider. A beer lover's paradise!

A proper cosy traditional pub that doesn’t pretend to be anything except what it is. Good beers and ales, sizeable spirit selections and a great atmosphere. It’s a must visit if you’re staying in Lincoln and a staple if you’re a local pub goer.

I like the ale in fact I got a free half pint (end of barrel) it's quite local and seems home to a lot of proper beer men, the friendly sort, with a sprinkling of local smart arses, takes all sorts ..decor lots of original features British pub, bar staff warm and friendly, they seem to love their task, also dogtastic. They know how to serve beer, I think they have music/poetry nights. Good old world standard, even a fireplace mantelpiece, a quiet room and ceiling festooned with previous ales. Recommended.

A party of 5, refused entry because we had a baby in a pram. "No under 18s" utter nonsense. Avoid.

We stumbled upon this pub by accident but were glad we did. An old style, proper pub. Had an amazing porter. When in Lincoln, take the short walk, it is worth it! Haunted, too!

A nice selection of beers to try, cosy garden and the sun actually popped out and we could see the castle and read about the gruesome reason the pub got its name. The pub also got quite a mention on the castle walls walking tour audio

We were made to feel so welcome and the dog was treated like a celebrity, very dog friendly! Tried all of the guest beers and there was a nice varied selection, all in perfect condition, plus the service was great. The staff were friendly and kept on top of things even though it was busy.

Fabulous pub which is a real ale 'proper' pub. Good range of real ales, which continually change. No frills, no piped music, just ordinary folk chatting and having a relaxed drink. Just like pubs used to be!

Stopped by for a couple of pints on a Saturday night and had a lovely time. I'm well looked after for good beer and a good pub as my daughter runs an excellent pub that finished in the last 16 of the CAMRA pub of the year but the Smugglers is pretty much on par. A lovely pint, good knowledge of the beers from the staff and a really welcoming vibe. An all round winner in my eyes.
