A proper real ale pub with 10 hand pulls. Two regular beers (Abbott and Landlord) and 7 varying guest ales which always include one session ale (sub-4%), two dark (porter or stout, occasionally mild or black IPA), and one strong ale (5% or above), and one real cider. A beer lover's paradise!

A proper cosy traditional pub that doesn’t pretend to be anything except what it is. Good beers and ales, sizeable spirit selections and a great atmosphere. It’s a must visit if you’re staying in Lincoln and a staple if you’re a local pub goer.

Brilliant real ale pub serving the best beer in the area. At last, they've spent a bit on the interior decoration, but still a work in progress. They definitely need to splash out on new garden chairs, umbrellas, etc. Some seem a bit unsafe.

I like the ale in fact I got a free half pint (end of barrel) it's quite local and seems home to a lot of proper beer men, the friendly sort, with a sprinkling of local smart arses, takes all sorts ..decor lots of original features British pub, bar staff warm and friendly, they seem to love their task, also dogtastic. They know how to serve beer, I think they have music/poetry nights. Good old world standard, even a fireplace mantelpiece, a quiet room and ceiling festooned with previous ales. Recommended.

A party of 5, refused entry because we had a baby in a pram. "No under 18s" utter nonsense. Avoid.

It's very cozy. We only stopped in for a beer and a soft drink. Friendly server, quality drinks. I recommend it.

We stumbled upon this pub by accident but were glad we did. An old style, proper pub. Had an amazing porter. When in Lincoln, take the short walk, it is worth it! Haunted, too!

A nice selection of beers to try, cosy garden and the sun actually popped out and we could see the castle and read about the gruesome reason the pub got its name. The pub also got quite a mention on the castle walls walking tour audio

A traditional pub I always try to visit when I am Lincoln. Always a good range of cask beers for me, somthing for every ones beer style is usually being served.

The best. Great character and service..not many true Boozers left. People actually talk. No music, no bandits. And dogs. Beautiful.

We were made to feel so welcome and the dog was treated like a celebrity, very dog friendly! Tried all of the guest beers and there was a nice varied selection, all in perfect condition, plus the service was great. The staff were friendly and kept on top of things even though it was busy.

Fabulous pub which is a real ale 'proper' pub. Good range of real ales, which continually change. No frills, no piped music, just ordinary folk chatting and having a relaxed drink. Just like pubs used to be!

Stopped by for a couple of pints on a Saturday night and had a lovely time. I'm well looked after for good beer and a good pub as my daughter runs an excellent pub that finished in the last 16 of the CAMRA pub of the year but the Smugglers is pretty much on par. A lovely pint, good knowledge of the beers from the staff and a really welcoming vibe. An all round winner in my eyes.

If you want the best cask ales in Lincoln, this is the place to go. The beer is served extremely well with a large turn around of choice

Wonderful, unspoilt, unpretentious traditional ale House serving a great selection of cask beers by friendly bar staff. Furthermore, and this is a real plus, the regulars appear to be friendly, welcoming and more than willing to engage in conversation.

Totally unsure of my opinion of this place. On the one hand it’s perhaps the best pub in Lincoln - excellent beers, lovely quiet old-school pub atmosphere, but then their attitude to “family” is atrocious. Refusing to serve a coke to a 17 year old with his parents at 6:30 pn on a Monday, and saying with a straight face “under 18s have never been allowed in the pub” despite us having enjoyed many family drinks here (served by other bar people) , is frustrating to say the least. I got the impression the barman enjoyed refusing to serve. Wonderful pub. Rather sour staff. I recommend the pub, but don’t bother bringing your teenage children. Adults only.

We didn't eat so no rating for that but a wonderful pub, awesome staff and good beer at a reasonable price. Fun fact... there are at least 8 pairs of the same beer mats on the walls and ceilings. We found 3 pairs, good luck!

This was my favourite pub in Lincoln. I visited the city for the day and stopped in at several. The Strugglers is an attractive pub with very friendly staff and locals, and the beer is a great price compared to those around it. Definitely one I'll return to when I'm next in Lincoln. Thanks!

Great traditional pub, winner of CAMERA pud of the year in 2019. Very busy Saturday evening for my visit but we'll worth the visit.

A proper pub, lovely building full of character inside, choice of ales was good and tasted great. Seems to be popular with a regular clientele and casual visitors.
