Brilliant coffee and great sandwiches

Super place for a spot of lunch (soup and sandwich is a great combo).Quality and taste of the food is excellent. I can't wait to try the pizza one evening, that everyone raves about.

I was disappointed with the main dish. 7 prawns in an olive oil mixture and a side salad. It's tasted ok but was more in tune as a starter than a main. Overall, it's very good.

I've become a regular customer here since the start of August 2024 and have never been disappointed so far. I'm told that the pizzas are good but ironically I don't like pizza, I come here for the various other things that the Cafe Portico does. I had a very enjoyable Italian meat dish the first time I came, and it also doubles up as an excellent cake and sandwich/ciabatta cafe. I've enjoyed several of the cakes and ciabattas and can also recommend the special Italian hot chocolate. On top of this, the staff are friendly.

Both me and my partner are gluten free, great selection of gluten free food, including tasty cake! We have been a number of times and tried a selection of the menu and it's all delicious. They also do food for collection. The staff are lovely & welcoming. Highly recommend 🙂

Fab place, food came out very quickly which was great. Everyone cleaned their plate so portion sizes were not over the top. Lots of choices for mains and desserts. The desserts were all out to see behind glass and all looked delicious. The staff were attentive and I couldn't fault it. We visited at 5:30pm so it was a little quiet in the restaurant. I had the pumpkin ravioli - Delicious My other half had the wild boar ravioli - lots of flavour. He could have had more.

Came in for lunch . .best smoked mozzarella, aubergine and roasted tomato ciabatta I've ever had !

I love Cafe Portico. I have been here numerous times with my friends and also my partner. Everytime I have the pumpkin ravioli which is simply the most delicious pasta dish EVER. I get cannoli to go too as I like to have them at home with a cup of tea. I will always choose portico for a meal out. Having lived in Italy myself, the food is truly authentic and delicious and deserves every positive review ! ❤️

We had a sharing platter lunch and a couple of coffee's, both were excellent 👌 And the price was reasonable. Clean toilet. Attentive staff. Will go again.

We stumbled upon this cafe while visiting Lincoln and had excellent Pizza delicious dessert and very friendly service. Highly recommended!!

We visit this venue quite frequently for an early lunch/brunch. Being a boring old person I tend to have the same thing each time. My meal of poached eggs on toast with mushrooms and a cup of tea is always good but today it was superb. Best I've ever had. Thank you Friendly efficient staff, and it didn't cost too much. We will definitely go back.

Always popped in now and again but this will be our last visit. Had 2 tasteless small americano coffees and a bacon sandwich on dry bread £14.50! Won't be returning. There is much better value and quality available in Lincoln than here.

We went here for an evening meal whilst on holiday in Lincoln. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left we had amazing service from friendly, knowledgeable and professional staff. There was also the lovely personal touch in that Sim (the Italian owner) came out of the kitchen to talk to us and ask us about our meal. Everything was delicious, piping hot and very good value for money. Every dish was bursting with flavour and we would highly recommend the “house potatoes”.

The food was delicious. Had Ravioli with a splendid salad 🥗 😋. Cappuccino and desert! Will definitely bring the family to try.

Lovely service from staff. Menu has a good variety. Plus, gluten-free bread, pasta, pizza and cake to choose from without fuss or drama. A refreshing change.

What an amazing place. Staff so obliging and couldn't do enough for us. Nothing too much trouble. A party of 26 and food was perfect for everyone , perhaps a little too much!🫣 well done .

Absolute delight, service and food was top notch, the best was the tiramisu cake and coffee. I will be returning very soon.

The food was great and the service ok. Off the main streets and so not a tourist hotspot. Cakes looked amazing but was too full from good pizza to squeeze any in.

Excellent dinner in this tucked away Italian restaurant. We had the tuna and chicken cacciatore followed by the malteser cheesecake and tiramisu. All excellent. The two waiters were very friendly and helpful- my wife particularly admired one of the waiters nails! Highly recommend.

Been multiple times recently and really rate the lunch menu and the pizza in the evening when we have been recently, they were brilliant! The food is always exceptional without fail, the best Italian food locally for sure. I was just put off unfortunately due to hygiene of the waiters. There was a dog in the restaurant (not my liking but I accept that as it’s my choice to go there) and all three of the waiters that evening went to the dog, gave it treats and stroked it.. then continued to serve drinks, touch cutlery and serve food straight after, all three of them did not wash their hands. BASIC food hygiene when serving food. This has really put me off unfortunately. I watched the dog lick the waiters hand then he went straight to get cutlery and handed it out. This really isn’t ok. Until this I cannot fault anything else as said above food is amazing, just the staff need to brush up massively on their hygiene, especially if it’s a dog friendly restaurant.

We love Caffe Portico, Sim really has this restaurant down to a fine art! Everything is exceptional, we love it here for breakfast, lunch or dinner.. Or even just for coffee and the most delicious cakes you will find in Lincoln. If you’re into pizza then don’t bother with any of the chains head here on a Friday or Saturday evening and expect the most exceptional tasting pizzas ever!!! 10/10

Have been here a couple of times for brekkie, can not fault a thing. Really good all round from the food to the service, would defo recommend and we will be going back for an evening meal sooner rather than later.

I would recommend Caffè Portico!!! If you are looking for a great Italian restaurant in Lincoln, it’s a very warm, cosy little spot away from the centre. The pizza is made in a pizza oven, and came so close to pizza I’ve had in Naples! Very authentic, and the chef even came out of the kitchen to ask if everything was okay during their busy lunch hour (as-well as 2 other lovely staff members) Really outstanding, personable service. We will be back!

Excellent restaurant and still the best pizzas in Lincoln despite there being many other “specialists” in town now. Desserts are always fantastic with a great choice. Very friendly staff too.

My favourite place in Lincoln. Lovely lunch and dinner options. Reasonably priced, everything is freshly prepared and service is really friendly and owner often pops around to check everything is to your liking. Bad points: having desserts on display in the fridge at the counter is dangerous, nobody can resist 😂. Also the location is a little hidden from the high street so I guess we must spread the word!

I had forgotten just how nice Portico is. Went there for lunch with a friend. It has such a warm, friendly atmosphere, very Italian! The food is really excellent. It arrives promptly and hot! Prices are reasonable for the quality.

We only had soup & ciabatta for lunch but so, so good. All the other dishes we saw being served up looked delicious. Very friendly staff and the owner made a point of speaking with everyone. We will visit again. Would highly recommend.

A pleasant secluded place with good food and lovely staff.

Second time visiting and can’t fault the service or food. Friendly staff that welcomed us both times. First time with my 2 year old and second with my 2 week old. Food was very good, good selection and portion sizes. We will be visiting again.

Booked dinner here and was not disappointed - very nice. It is tucked away and not on the beaten track - so didn't appear to have too many tourists. The food was wonderful and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed it so much that we booked there and then for our last night in the city.

Wonderful pizzas. We had a lovely evening in this super Italian restaurant. Charming, friendly staff made sure we we were looked after extremely well. We had such a great experience that we returned two days later for breakfast - nonna’s tomatoes being a stand out.

Love this place, lovely food and atmosphere. However, I was disappointed to see a dog in there. I don’t dislike dogs but I don’t want to be forced to put up with them when I’m eating.

Excellent cafe, a little expensive but it's top quality ingredients and perfect service, a little off the beaten track but worth searching out.

We visited just before mid day today. The venue is off the beaten track and was doing a roaring trade which says it all really. Well received and given menus almost instantly. Good selection to choose from. I had poached eggs and they were perfect. Tea and coffee lovely and I'm sure they have heated cups as the drinks stayed hot for the whole visit. Friendly efficient staff, and it didn't cost too much. We will definitely go back.

Delicious lunch for 5 of us with lovely staff and quick service. We had roasted vegetable pasta, lasagne, and pumpkin ravioli and they were all really good. The tiramisu was exceptional. Definitely recommend!

We had the salmone e vodka and the Tortelli al Chingialae for our lunch and found it exceptionally cooked. There was plenty of salmon and not over the top with the cream, and the Tottelli was packed with delicious wild boar and well flavoured tomato sauce. Would recommend both. The staff were accommodating and service was exceptional. Would definitely recommend.

Food great, service second to none and all at affordable prices. This place is a little gem and you will not be disappointed.

I'm not from the area but I have been here a few times. Great service and lovely food. Just s little bit on the pricey side.

Little disappointed had heard good things but sadly wasn’t too impressed. Starters were nice, bruschetta for me pretty basic but tasty. Partners squid rings were lovely and well presented. Partner had boar ravioli which he said was pretty flavourless mainly tasting of Passata. We were asked to use same cutlery for our mains as they were running short, restaurant was half full and was early Saturday evening so was little surprised but not a big deal. I had the salmon vodka pasta for main for which I was expecting a cream sauce as stated on menu but seemed to be a plain tomato sauce which wasn’t mentioned on menu and the salmon was a few flakes when I’d have preferred chunks. Little flavour less really. Sadly no time for dessert as we had a show to goto…just lacked a little something

After my son's beautiful marriage ceremony at The Usher Gallery we celebrated with family and friends at this wonderful restaurant. The food was outstanding and we could not have been made more welcome. Thank you to all the staff for making it a night to remember.

Great place for a casual lunch. Food was excellent, as was the service. There was a good atmosphere with the bustle of a busy venue that I have experienced in a cafe like this in Italy. The meals are very reasonably priced so the only negative comment is that the toilets could do with a bit of attention; my wife said that a bin was overflowing in the Ladies room.

the food that myself and my friends had was not good the bread was cold very little oil and large lumps of salt in it the pizza was burnt on top and was so thin and undercooked on the bottom that the filling fell out there was a large group of us but by the time some meals came out others had finished and the last person to be served was 10 minutes after we had eaten and it was a cold platter

Had an amazing evening at Cafe Portico. Me and my friend went for an evening meal. I required gluten free and Ruby the waitress was fantastic in letting me know what I could have (even double checking in with the kitchen on the specials) The meal was fantastic and service equally as good! At the end of the evening the owner (Italian) came and chatted to us and informed us that the restaurant was AVPN certified- Napoli registered for quality. Couldn’t recommend this place highly enough-a little off the beaten track but so worth the visit!

Went here for a celebration of son buying a house!! Him & gf had never been so thought we would let him try as loves a pizza!! Food was fab as it has been the last 2 times we have been, mrnu I'd quite limited but what they serve is beautiful the puzzas are rustic, literally what you want chucked in...just how it should be! I had chicken and it was lovely not dry at all, access to the building and seating is fine, I'm sure mobility problems wdnt be an issue, I waliuld say it's quite expensive but a nice treat service was great, young lad on his own (knows what he's doing haha)

Gluten free pizza was undercooked and just generally unpleasant. Staff where lovely though and gave a discount. Was dead quiet when we went but perhaps the atmosphere would be better when busier.

Had the Mediterranean pasta with pesto, it was really fresh and side salad really tasty ,Lovely staff, have been here for sandwiches aswell, the beef ciabatta is to die for, you can tell its been slow cooked and not bought in

I had a great experience throughout my whole time in café portico. My servers were all very polite, well done to them! It was a very clean place and it felt very sanitary, which is something I have struggled a lot with in multiple places, so well done to all of the cleaning team. I really enjoyed the food, me and my partner really enjoyed it. Overall I found it a nice atmosphere though at times it was loud. I really enjoyed my time here I highly recommend.

The best coffee in Lincoln in my experience. Good food with top notch ingredients. I always go out of my way to have brunch here. Nice warm atmosphere but could do with a little soft background music, but that's just my opinion. I love it here.

A lovely dog friendly Italian restaurant. We booked here for a Friday night. The restaurant was buzzing with people who are in the know. Caffe Portico is in central Lincoln, but not an obvious place to come across. The food is great and the staff are friendly and helpful. The owner came to to chat to us to check everything was okay. Being dog friendly is important for us. Our rather large dog had plenty of space and was given a bowl of water too. We left very full of delicious food and planning to come back.

I visit cafe Portico reasonably regularly. The food is consistently excellent. Not your run of the mill lunch menu with boring sandwich selections but rather a choice of mouth wateringly different fillings. The homemade soup is delicious. Friendly service. Highly recommend.

Very tasty food, especially the pizza, which is also worthwhile getting as a takeaway to collect. Smaller portion for the caprese salad, but appreciate the circumstances with it being winter and prices being affected by inflation. Well worth going, but book early.

Great little cafe in Lincoln. Little more expensive than other places but the food is excellent and worth paying the extra. The staff are great and do a good job keeping the place clean and tidy. There is always a great atmosphere here too. Definitely worth checking out the pizzas here, they are great. Great for couples wanting some time out. Great for lunch meetings too.

Little Italian gem in Lincoln, this place offers good, tasty and reasonable price food. Staff is very friendly and desserts are delicious. I highly recommend the tarta de la Nona and pistachio cake. Coffee is great quality and capuchino are creamy and delicious. Highly recommend this place if you haven’t been yet. My pictures aren’t the best, as I forgot to take the pic before starting to eat!!
