A proper drinkers' pub. Very welcoming to dogs, regulars, visitors (including boaters). Excellent beer and friendly staff and customers.

I live in lincoln and I studied at Lincoln College for the past 3 years. All those 3 years I encouraged my fellow students to come to this pub to support this community. And they did, and my did we spend some money there. A week ago I would have given this pub 5 stars, now I'm very disappointed. I continued visiting this pub with my family and my little son. Last Sunday we were told by young bar tender "For future reference, all children have to leave by 7pm. " I would perhaps understand this Fridays and Saturdays when pubs are full of drunk, noisy people but Sundays? There was hardly anyone there. Us and another couple with child. (I beg they will stop coming too) You can't call this law as according to the law, children under 16 are allowed in pubs in England untill 9pm and untill 10pm in summer time. You are happy to have badly behaved dogs pissing everywhere and growling at everyone but no well behaved children? These may be your future clients for God's sake. So I class this pub as children unfriendly and therefore will not visit again as I don't feel welcome where my son is not welcome. Will go to Dog and bones as they are following the law and not making their own rules just because they dislike children. Will encourage all students too.

Went in on a Saturday afternoon, it was quite a busy, friendly atmosphere. Was quite a young crowd.

The food was lovley plenty of it very nice atmosphere

Good feeling pub. Nice size beer garden. Good selection of beers, alcoholic free and soft drinks. Dog friendly. Because there is seating at the bar it's difficult to get served at busy times. Clean pub and clean toilets

Great little pub. Great atmosphere. Friendly staff. Efficient service. In nice quiet area with chippy near next door if get hungry.

Popped in for a couple of pints on a trip to Lincoln, well kept ale and friendly staff.

Really enjoyed it. It was an open mic night so there were a variety of performers. Customers and staff were friendly to us as strangers.

Love the place little bit expensive (where isnt) Staff all great great shows and laughs. For a place of mixed people. Oth locals and waifes it's a belter place.

Great pub. In the 2023 Good Beer Guide. We went on a recent Friday night to find a disco, lively atmosphere and a happy crowd. Bit out of the city centre but worth the walk.

1st time visited this pub and landlady and landlord was very welcoming and had a great night watching the comedy acts. Will definitely return.

Dog friendly pub a gentle stroll along the canal side from the city centre. Only had time for a quick visit so no real insights to share. I'll do better next time.

A rare treat in this part of town. Always lots going on and a real community feel to the place.

A favourite with my friends and I, amazing staff, good selection on tap with some guest appearances too! We often go for the amazing quiz held every 2nd Wednesday of the month and it's a great bit of fun. They even let you bring in your own takeaway (just not on the quiz night). Great little watering hole!

Had a fantastic experience at the Birdcage yesterday evening. Great band and atmosphere, we also had the pleasure of meeting the landlord who was really friendly and welcoming, as were the rest of the staff. We loved everything about this place and just wish we'd found it earlier! Will certainly be recommending this pub.

Went in on Wednesday the 15th of June with a friend and the lady behind the bar was super friendly and more than happy to help. Tried the Pina Colada Lilley's cider which was gorgeous. Highly, highly recommend the Birdcage.

Lincoln's best local pub. Amazing staff, amazing regulars, amazing theme nights.

We only went for a couple. Timed it just as the football finished. It was quiet n cosy. The Mancunian ale was perfect for a warm evening. Very light. Tasty. Staff are always friendly, helpful and polite. Lookin forward to Open Mic Night at the end of the month.

Great local pub. I have quite happily strolled in alone and not felt out of place. The owners make everyone feel welcome. Staff are friendly. Very reasonably priced. Lots of different quiz nights/ band nights etc. Good sized beer garden for the summer. Dogs welcome - treats and water supplied for the fluff bags.

A very friendly local pub! They have a good selection of beers, hold lots of fun nights such as quiz's, open mic nights, and live bands! They are dog friendly if the dog is on a lead, and they only serve food on specific dates so be sure to check ahead of time.

1st visit for my Mother's wake. Nice little pub with very friendly staff, would recommend for a quiet out of the way drink!!

We cane into Lincoln visiting from Cheshire for the weekend looking for a place to eat with our two dogs in tow... Unfortunately when we got here the kitchen was shut...the pub was very apologetic... However we were told it was ok to order a takeaway and have it delivered and a the cutlery and crockery would we be provided for us to use.. a big shout out to Steve and thanks .. if the place was on our door we'd be regular customers !!🙂

Nice side street pub just out of the centre of Lincoln, beer was good and locals seemed friendly, there was a 60th party on so busy and loud as expected Looks like live sport is on regular too

This is a friendly pub with a real community feel. The staff are always friendly. Good range of beer and drinks on offer and good food. Great atmosphere and good range of events happening most weeks. You can tell the owners work hard to make this pub special. Worth seeking out.

We found this pub via google whilst visiting Lincoln and paid it a visit. A good selection of drinks, including several flavoured gins which made me happy. Partner was able to enjoy a good pint too. Excellent prices. Staff member behind the bar was friendly, and as evening came more people came into the pub and it was a pleasant vibe. Decor was pleasing and quite quirky which I like. A good pub away from the main tourist area but well worth the visit. We did not eat here and did not know if they were serving food. Toilets were clean.

I have always shunned pubs to eat in because they rarely have proper food for vegans unless you want burgers but no more! The Bitdcage is the BEST rpub/ restaurant I have ever eaten in! The chef has his attention to the little details such as radishes in the shape of little stars and his sauces are just divine!! I noticed one of my meat head friends gobbling down his vegan shwarma kebab and he took photos of it because it was just so petty! My compliments to the chef and also to the staff who were attentive and very polite. I will certainly go back!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

A wonderful meal! We have just had the best vegan meal ever at The Birdcage! Our compliments to the chef! The food was amazing, service amazing and atmosphere was relaxing and welcoming. We will be back!!

Lovely pub with amazing staff. Not got a single criticism

Out of lockdown trips have been a little frightening, but the staff were so welcoming and the atmosphere so calm, and the food so homely that all those worries dissolved. I had the Korean Vegan Chick'n Burger Meal (photo attatched) and I assure you it was the BEST vegan food-actually best food in general- that I have ever tasted!! Props to the chef and the staff that were working on Sunday 23rd, thank you for a wonderful evening!

What a hidden gem this place is have ordered take out from here 2 weeks running now and it has not disappointed! The chicken shawama is delicious and there is plenty of it but the show stopper for me was the Korean Chicken literally wow I dont think I have eaten anything so tasty in all my life! We'll be back next week without a doubt!

Oh. My. Lord. Charley and Sara are absolute wizards when it comes to preparing some of the best vegan food you've probably ever had. No jokes. They always go above and beyond to make sure everyone is catered for, plant and meat eaters alike! I don't often get chance to go in the pub so we order on Deliveroo, the food always arrives mega hot and still looking amazing! Thanks Charley for making my vegan takeaway dreams come true x x x

Went here after work and the gym the other night, instructed the other half we were going out. Wasn't sure what to expect in terms of food. We have been having a few drinks here over the last few weeks and decided it was time to try the food. Gluten free offerings from other restaurants have been very grim. I felt welcome here when I asked for GF. I was given a few choices and went for the fish and chips. Lovely. Decent chips, crispy batter, choice of peas. Other half went for the burger. The bun was a little over sized but he said the dish was lovely. That's high praise for him! Plates were taken away promptly. This seems to be unusual just lately so it's little things like this that make the experience better. Asking about dessert the lovely lady wasn't aware of GF options so went away to ask. Came back with "they all are". I never normally have choices, so went with the fudge cake and so did the other half. He was very pleasantly surprised that it didn't taste GF. All in all, it was just a really lovely evening. Chilled, relaxed, very friendly but not invasive staff, good tunes on too. Will definitely go back in a fortnight when the main chef is back. And if you go there in the next few days and it's still on, the Rum and Raisin Cider is quite something to behold! Cheers Birdcage!

Amazing place to go for dinner or just drinks with friends. Menu offers great tasting and handsome portions of vegan, vegetarian and meat dishes to satisfy everyones taste. The selection of ales, ciders and wines was reasonably priced and of a good standard. It was great to be able to purchase vegan friendly ale in a bar! Large beer garden with plenty of seating and shelter. Lovely atmosphere as there are bedding plants and hanging baskets in ever space possible. The service was great, the bartender explained the covid rules to us and continued the evening with a smile. They offered to adjust the speaker volume as we were sat underneath but this was not necersary the music was banging. All in all a very comforting and pleasant pub. Healthy portions packed with flavour. Great selection of alcohol and fantastic service. 10/10 will be going back again!

Visited after reccomendations, this place certainly lived up to it! Absolutely amazing vegan food! Korean Seitan and Seitan Shawarma are two of the best vegan meals I've ever eaten! Pub is quirky and comfortable, we sat outside on a sunny evening, good range of drinks and even had vegan real ales behind the bar, a dream come true! Total hats off to the chef, we will be back!

As a vegan this is one of my favourite places to eat anyway and luckily for me it is my local. The food is imaginative, very tasty and well presented. It is absolutely superb and I cannot recommend it enough.

Tastiest vegan food I've had anywhere! And vast portions! Highly recommended! My only complaint is that they're not open for food Monday to Wednesday.

The best food in Lincoln! The Birdcage's food is incredible, large choice on the menu and served with lovely presentation. Whether you are getting it to takeaway or eating in: the staff are always friendly, the food is always piping hot and so so tasty. My favourite dish is the Vegan Korean "Chicken" Burger...

I visited the Birdcage for the first time today after hearing so many great reviews. I wasn’t disappointed. We were welcomed by friendly bar staff who explained how to sanitise and sign in for track and trace, where we could sit and how we could order our drinks. The pub was lovely and clean with the staff always sanitising doors and tables. We saw lots of food being served so decided to eat there ourselves, the portions were incredible, They even gave us a take away box so we didn’t waste what we couldn’t finish. I had the burger and a pint deal for £10. Great choice of burgers to choose from and so so tasty. Massive compliments to the Chef. Overall very impressed and will definitely be back and will recommend to everyone!! Thank you
