Bailgate Deli in Lincoln

A little gem! Lovely vegan food, freshly cooked. I have lunch here regularly and everything on the menu is so tasty. The staff are friendly and Barry's dry humour always makes my day!

Found this wonderful vegan deli on a side street right next to the castle. The seating area is quite small inside, with 7 or 8 tables squeezed in, but there is more seating outside if the weather is nice. I was there for lunch, and there was a fantastic selection of vegan Main meals. I had the home made bean burger with fries, cole slaw and an onion bhajii. It was delicious, and a huge serving. Staff were very friendly. I would definitely eat here again, highly recommended.

Just popped in for breakfast. Just fantastic. Quorn sausage in a ciabatta bun and a black coffee.

What a great place for a healthy and tasty lunch. The menu is small (which I love) and there are daily specials for the soup and stew according to the in-season veg. A very friendly welcome.

Mis hermanas y yo llamamos para tomar un café. Inicialmente pensamos que podía ser solo una deli pero vimos las mesitas dentro. Debo decir que el personal es encantador, muy amable y el café era absolutamente delicioso al igual que el té. Es solo un lugar pequeño y muy cerca de la plaza de la catedral, pero este deli / café no te estafa con precios desorbitados, muy muy razonable. También hacen pasteles, que se veían deliciosos, pero no participaron ya que estamos observando nuestras cinturas después de Navidad. Recomiendo encarecidamente esta pequeña joya de un café. Si estás en Lincoln dale un vuelco no te arrepentirás.

Me encanta este lugar. He estado bastantes veces y por cierto lo encontré por accidente. En enero de 2024 . El personal es increíblemente talentoso y amable. La calidad de la comida es de lejos la mejor de la zona, y en una excelente ubicación. Es refrescante encontrar un lugar que atienda a vegetarianos y veganos de una manera tan creativa, cada vez que vengo a la ciudad me pongo como objetivo probar algo diferente en el menú, en realidad cambia con frecuencia debido a la manera estacional que funciona, pero lo recomendaría encarecidamente. ¡Sigan con el gran trabajo!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I absolutely love this place! The full vegan breakfast is always incredible – easily the best in Lincoln. The coffee is spot on too. The place is really cosy, and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. It’s clear they put a lot of care into the process, from the food to the atmosphere. Well....we where there and did like the look off it , it look very busy ,so there for good place to be ,we did wait , and it was worth the waiting, it's was really nice and very inspired food , it's was full of flavour, we are well impressed and it was great experience and diffantly recommended, good luck to you guys 👍

Ayer pasé por aquí a tomar café y pastel. El personal era muy amable y servicial. Compartimos un pedazo de pastel de naranja y caqui que fue horneado por uno de los empleados. Este pastel era excelente, muy otoñal y ciertamente lo suficientemente grande para compartir! Sabemos que los costos están aumentando para las pequeñas empresas en este momento, por lo que fue aún más agradable que la factura llegara a un par de libras menos de lo que normalmente pagamos. Sin duda volveré de nuevo.

First time going here! We planned a visit to Lincoln to specifically eat here! And we were not disappointed!! The staff are so so lovely! Cosy, friendly vibe, and a clean cafe. They clearly care about food! Seasonal, hearty, healthy food. Go visit and no they didn’t pay me to write this, I’m just a massive foodie :) thank you to all at the deli 🙏🏻 can’t wait to visit again!

A lovely cafe, the food was delicious and generous. The owner served us and he is such a lovely man. So much choice for vegetarians/vegans. Two thumbs up!

We popped in for a quick drink and snack I ordered the hummus thinking I'd get a small pot of hummus and couple of bread sticks maybe - no I was served with a lovely pot of hummus and another of beetroot coleslaw along with 4 pieces of artisan bread in very generous portions. The service was speedy and friendly and everything is freshly home-made. It was an enjoyable experience sitting outside in the sunshine watching the world gone by. Definitely recommend a visit! I saw various dishes being served and they all looked yummy 👍

Ha pasado algún tiempo desde la última vez que fuimos aquí (años), ya que estábamos un poco decepcionados. Decidió darles una oportunidad la semana pasada para tomar café. Crikey, ha cambiado. Sin duda el mejor cappo de leche de avena en Lincoln. Hemos vuelto por más comida vegana, que es igualmente buena. The best coffee in the Bailgate area, coupled with superb vegan food, lovely people and dog welcoming. What’s not to love? Barry’s regulars are a friendly bunch and going to the Bailgate Deli is like seeing your favourite family members each time you’re there.

Best shish I've had in ages, meat or not. The staff were very chill and professional, the atmosphere was relaxed but clean and busy. Great marriage between a friendly gathering place and a bustling little world of tasty ethics. They were super helpful with the whole gluten issue, too. I'm so mad I didn't find this place 8 years ago! Not even vegan but I'll be going back. (And yes, they're dog friendly if you behave yourself)

I've been working in Lincoln for a few days & ate here twice. Best sausage sandwich and hashbrown I've ever had, and an amazing, bright salad and fries too. Very reasonable prices and fantastic customer service. I will be visiting everytime I'm working that way!

This vegan cafe is run by the sweetest of a human called Barry. We sat outdoors and he personally took our orders for a late brunch. My order of a soya mocha tasted a bit weird only for me to realise that what was delivered was a soya matcha. It was quickly replaced. After this was where confusion reigned supreme. We did notice that orders were taking long. So our wait of 30 mins didn’t seem unusual. But when a gentleman who had arrived much later got served before us, we got concerned and went inside to check. The kitchen did not have our food order. Someone somewhere had lost it. At this point in time after a 45 min wait, we couldn’t wait longer for hot food and since the kids were famished, we picked up some croissants from the counter as takeaway. The staff were apologetic and Barry himself said that since they had let us down, the drinks and the croissants were on the house. Eventually we didn’t get a chance to sample the breakfasts which looked delicious. But had it not been for Barry’s gentle demeanour and his caring attitude, this review would not have as many stars.

Super friendly staff and owners. Delicious food, and the best coffee and mushrooms in Lincoln. Nobody does mushrooms like them! Highly reccomended!

Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and amazing food. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw soya, oat, almond, and coconut milk served at no extra cost. The avocado on toast is probably the best one I’ve ever had. It’s nice to find vegan food by default on a menu, in such a cute cafe. Definitely back for more every time we’re in Lincoln

Lovely friendly deli / cafe with amazing food. The best! Had the full vegan breakfast, avocado on toast and mushrooms on toast between the three of us and all were great. Good portions, freshly cooked, proper food at a decent price. You don’t need to be a vegan to come and enjoy it here.

The best and freshest food I have had in ages! Would eat there again in a heartbeat. Hightly recommend, I hope that when the current owner retires that the new owner continues this standard of food ☺️

Bailgate Deli is one of those rare places where the quality of food and the service has been very much perfect on every visit , the size of the portions are always generous too.

Fantastic food, I came with three others and we all loved our meals (the best vegetarian lunch I’ve had). The staff were so lovely and friendly- we will definitely be back! Thank you for a lovely lunch!

I had the loaded Fry's,the curry sauce tasted of gee,I felt quite ill so had to leave them before I got sick.They serve cows milk,when I inquired about it they said the business would go bust without the afternoon coffee drinkers that wanted cows milk.Not a pleasant experience wouldnt recommend to vegans.No real vegan would ever buy cows milk,felt let down and conned.They should not be allowed to advertise as plant based. if they serve animal products.

Hands down the nicest vegan breakfast I've ever had, and I've tried many! The staff are lovely, the gentleman who served us was so friendly and attentive, will definitely return! (Vegan breakfast usually comes with beans but I'm a bean hater and they were happy to accommodate)

Great place for some quality food. Yes it’s all vegan, but worth a visit regardless because of the tasty dishes being served there. The food is meticulously prepped, the portions generous and you won’t leave feeling hungry. The staff are also very friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

I stopped off at this café on the way back to the car park at Westgate. I was blown away by the quality of food and the amazing customer service. Highly recommended!

Superb cafe near the cathedral which we stumbled upon which is an absolute gem,we were lucky enough to.get a table outside in the sun and had a great coffee and cake,but wished we'd had more, judging by the people picking food up and staff delivering as well we presumed they were very popular with the locals which is always a good sign, definitely one to lookout for next time.

Was recommended this place from the chap at the Imperial team room and visit Lincoln office. Did not disappoint. Lovely small cafe with amazing vegan/vegetarian options, had the full vegan English (very filling) plus English breakfast tea to wash it down, wonderful experience eating here, a must visit.

Staying in Lincoln for work and wanted to find a healthier option for my tea. Walked up enormous hill to find this place, unfortunately I was late for cafe food, which stops at 3.30pm. The lady behind the counter took pity on me, probably helped by my glowing red face after walking the hill! She offered a seat and prepared me a falafel salad. The owner popped down and was also very friendly Incredibly kind, going above and beyond and the falafel salad is a thing of beauty!

The best plant based good I've ever had. Bombay potato soup was superb. Also had the black bean burger. Prices were extremely good too. We will be back for sure.

I pop in here for a takeaway lunch from time to time, and it never disappoints. The staff and owner are lovely, and the food is amazing. Falafel Salad is my usual choice. It changes slightly every time but that is the personality of whoever prepares it coming through. It is basically the same but with tweaks. Today's was magnificent. I have had other dishes which have been lovely too.

Cosy cafe in the cathedral quarter. Food was amazing, the nicest lunch we’ve had in ages. Spoilt for choice we wanted to eat it all! Very good value for money, I think they should charge at least a couple of quid more, they will still get plenty of business. Owner very friendly, service excellent. Above all food tasty, hot and innovative menu.

Vegan food is not my usual diet and it's very hard to impress me with it. But hands down, the best vegan food ever at Bailgate Deli. They treated me to a wonderful culinary experience that I won't ever forget. I tried the soup, falafel salad and loaded fries. Can't even suggest any improvements. Perfect food no matter what you usually eat, you will love this culinary experience. The service was friendly and top notch. Will visit again 10/10.

Visit with friends for coffee and food often, we love the Vegan breakfast and the food always tastes great. Good quality and very flavoursome, defiantly recommend a visit its a small menu but changes. Owner is lovely and the staff attentive.

Been here twice now, both times for breakfast. Totally mixed bag in terms of experience; the vibe is super nice and friendly/low key, but it's cold (if the weather is cold). Cold enough to need a jacket/scarf. As mentioned elsewhere the service is very, very slow. 30/40 minute wait for a breakfast dish seems normal. If you order a second coffee when your food arrives, you'll be drinking it for dessert! First time we went the food was really nice. Second time one of the plates (identical plates, ordered together)) was fine, the other one was stone cold, so clearly they hadn't been cooked at the same time, but rather had been reheated/not reheated. Didn't bother sending it back due to super-slow service; would have still been there at lunchtime! Won't return realistically. as there are clearly safety implications relating to not properly heating food, even ignoring how unpleasant a cold cooked breakfast is to eat!

Great little vegan/veggie cafe and one I always recommend to visiting friends/family. Independently owned. The oat hot chocolates are excellent - as are the croissants! Dog friendly. Just be aware, there is no step free access.

I’ve only been here a handful of times, but they’ve all been really lovely experiences. Everything is mostly vegan I believe (or at least plant-based) which I’m not, but the breakfast is great! Really tasty! Big fan of the coffee too. The owner and all the staff are so friendly and lovely - it’s got a real community vibe to it. Highly recommend popping in for a brunch or a coffee!

Lovely little Deli in Lincoln! Ate here with my family before my sister's Graduation so everywhere was VERY busy and we left it very last minute to eat before the ceremony, but staff were so lovely and could tell they were doing everything they could to be extra speedy for us. In our rush we hadn't realised it was vegan when sitting down (not the usual choice for some in the group) but everyone raved about their food - so so tasty!

None of us are vegans or vegetarians, but thoroughly enjoyed our food here! Great friendly, welcoming service, we had a lovely spot outside in the late afternoon sunshine with tasty food, what's not to love. Would definitely return and recommend.

Popped in yesterday for some dinner, very nice burger and friendly staff all good.

I have been coming here since it opened. Not a vegan, just love the food. It has always been 5 star for food. You may have to wait for a while for your order to take out, but this is because every order is cooked from fresh-in full visibility. Staff always friendly, food is excellent.

The highlight of my day today was discovering this little café tucked away uphill in Lincoln. The iced coffee was refreshing, the katsu curry was aromatic and filling, and service was delightful and authentic. Reccomendation: Try the biscoff brownie, it's mouth-coatingly indulgent 😍

We noticed the food looked appertising yesterday so decided to try it for lunch today. My husband had the Summer Curry and i had the falafel salad. My husband has managed to sum it up to a couple of words.... that was a different level of food. It was delicious we are not vegetarian but my salad was bursting with so many flavours i cant decide which was best. The staff were friendly and the cafe quaint. Thank you for a lunch to remember.

Visited today for a late breakfast. A popular spot with all tables full, but service was brisk and the food beautifully presented. We had porridge (fully loaded with fruit and nuts) and sourdough with peanut butter. Outstanding!

Best falafel salad I’ve ever had.. and I’ve eaten a fair few! Lots of variety and the falafels themselves were really tasty. It was a large portion and well worth the £7. The wait time was short considering it was lunchtime. The staff were friendly, the service was great, and although I had a takeout, the atmosphere was nice while I waited. The takeout packaging and cutlery was all biodegradable :) Will definitely return next time I’m in Lincoln!

We are not vegetarians or vegan but the food is seriously good and lovingly prepared (fresh). - the little wait is totally worth it and the quantity is very generous. Bustling little vegan cafe just up from the cathedral. Lovely food and wonderful staff. I had the tofu & mushroom schwarma and it was gorgeous. Took a little extra time to come out as it was packed saturday lunch time but well worth the wait. Already picked out what I'm having next time I go 😁

Indulged in the vegan breakfast. There's something about the mushrooms in Lincoln - this was not the only place where they were very tasty. I opted for the tempeh. This is a dish I've eaten here and in its native Indonesia. The offering here was the best I've ever had. Add on great service, nice ambience and a street view. It doesn't get much better!

This is a gem of a deli! I had a beautiful vegan breakfast that came with the most amazing sourdough bread. The atmosphere is super friendly too and the coffee just perfect! Definitely recommend! I felt very well looked after :)
