I knew this was the place for me as soon as I saw the sign “turophile: a cheese lover”. Amazing grilled cheese sandwiches (I tested all but one) and the raclette, to die for. Thank you Emma for helping me get fat over the Christmas period!

The toastie's are made on award winning sourdough bread and my favourite was the cheese and red onion chutney but the raclette cheese spread over hot new potatoes and pickles on the side laid on a bed of spinach was fabulous the flavours of all the food was perfectly balanced and well thought out I would definitely recommend this little jewel in the street food crown

What an absolute please it was to get some food from The Cheese Cave. The owner is a genuinely lovely lady who really puts her heart and soul in to the food she sells. And that is what we’re talking about, soul food, comfort food, just the thing to pick you up. We decided to try a sample of a few different choices, some cheese toasties and the Raclette. Basically because we couldn’t pick just one to try because it all sounded so wonderful. The toasties come in a variety of flavour combinations from unctuous Brie and Cranberry to the lighter and more delicate Pesto and Spinach. So far, so good, however it is done with amazing gastronomy and attention to detail. Excellent quality ingredients across the board from the specially selected cheeses to the bakery that provides the sourdough bread. It takes something homely and really elevates it to great food, you haven’t had a toasties like this before (very probably). If you’ve never come across a Raclette before, now is your chance to indulge. Melted and toasted, wonderful French cheese, smothered over hot new potatoes. Add in a some nice tart pickles and it’s mind lovingly tasty. Note again the clever touches, like the pickles, that keep the dish well balanced and prevent any of the dishes from becomes stodgy or too rich. Hats off to the chef! The portion sizes are pretty darn generous, so while you’ll be spending just under a fiver for a toastie or just over for Raclette, it is definitely worth it. In fact, if you compare it to most high street offerings for something lunch-sized, you’d struggle to find anything much cheaper, and even then you won’t be getting this level of great food. My only down side for the cheese cave... It’s a pop-up that is in Lincoln only for the weeks leading up to New Year’s Eve. Hopefully this review can move with The Cheese Cave as it rolls in to pasture new because more people need to enjoy the great food. I also look forward to winter 2019 and hope that it sees my favourite toastie pop-up come back!
