My daughter with milk and egg allergies was desperate for some vegan ice cream on our long trek up Steep Hill. Unfortunately our timing was just out and we missed the ice cream place where we had intended to go by 3 minutes! We happened to walk by this place and when asked were told they had 2 types of vegan sorbet. Now my daughter gets pretty frustrated at being fobbed off by the offer of sorbet in place of ice cream (the latter containing milk/cream of plant based variety and the former being frozen squished fruit with no milk/cream) so was initially reluctant to try it. We are SO glad she changed her mind. In all honesty, the sorbet was absolutely delicious and better than any ice cream we have ever tasted! It was creamy AND fruity (we had a scoop of the lime and a scoop of the strawberry). She loved every mouthful. We will definitely be buying again when we visit Lincoln in the future. Thank you for making a little girl with allergies incredibly happy 🥰

Had THE best Lemon Meringue Pie ice cream from here, unfortunately after a few licks it fell out of the cone! I went back to say that it was the best ever icecream I'd tasted before it fell out, they very kindly gave me another scoop in a tub! Thanks so much! Everyone got to taste it & also loved it! Yum!

Great ice cream, loads of flavours to pick from (apple pie and white chocolate millionaire shortbread are amazing!) and super friendly staff. Reasonably priced considering the quality of the ice cream and cones that are available. Perfect location too, right next to the Cathedral and Castle. Full disclosure. I always suspect that people in catering establishments who wear blue gloves don't know why. The ice cream scoop is designed to enable you to mould ice cream into a ball and squash it onto the cone without touching it. Under the new management, the servers use their fingers (gloved, of course) to push the ice cream onto the scoop - then hold out the same gloved hand to take your money. Oh dear, oh dear. The ice cream that I had was tasty enough but I will be going elsewhere in future where food is served by people with a better grip on food hygiene. Not that it will bother me, obviously, but I would be remiss if I didn't point out that they are only open 3 days a week. They took over a brilliant business and I had high hopes. There was a queue when I went, so they must be doing OK. But it's not for me.

A very small ice cream service area and a little cafe in the oldest (apparently) cellar in Lincoln. So why the enthusiasm. Simple. We ducked in here to find them tidying up and clearly in the process of closing. We looked then plaintively and asked for a cup of tea. We got an immediate warm response and were led downstairs for a lovely tea in a very distinctive location. I just think customer service like that deserves support. Nice people.

After viewing some of the competition my friends and I opted to stop here for a drink and a brew. We sat in the vaulted cellar and were served by a lovely lady who was very welcoming. Tea was served in Portmerion china. Two had Victoria Sponge which was declared the best ever. I had a cheese scone with a piece of cheddar cheese - yum. It was very reasonably priced yet good quality and is well worth a visit. Gold star to our waitress who could not do enough to make our visit special.

Not much clue the tea room is there - just an unobtrusive notice to the stairs to the cellar - but what a delight when you enter! A true medieval vaulted ceiling constructed, I was told by apprentice masons, being prepared to maintain the cathedral. A tranquil air pervaded the room - a refuge from the bustling street above. The welcoming staff member brought Lincolnshire plum loaf with its traditional accompaniment of cheese. What a delight - with a warming cup of tea to wash it down. One of the myriad of unexpected corners there are to find in Lincoln - highly recommended!

Visited here after before visiting Lincoln Cathedral (University Graduration service was on) so came in here for a little treat. As I am now intolerant to cow's milk so I was pleased that they do fruit sorbets as an alternative to ice cream - love ice cream but not the side effects - no issues with the sorbets, lovely! My mum and dad had the normal ice cream which they loved. Also do gluten free cakes - rather limited though, but price was very reasonable which compensated for the lack of choice.

They have a good range of ice cream - however - the hygiene is very poor. My husband has worked for a premium ice cream outlet and he observed very poor hygiene practices in the Parlour. Two young girls were handling the wafer cones without wrapping them in tissues or paper which is considered poor hygiene practice. I also asked for two scoops and they crammed them both on a single wafer cone which meant it was nearly falling off. After my husband noticed the handling of the wafer cone he told me not to eat it so I didn't. I emailed the Ice Cream parlour via their website to discuss first and they haven't replied so I am posting this review so that people can be aware.

From outside this just looks like a small shop selling Dennets Ice Cream but it is so much more. Yes, you can order fantastic ice creams but they also offer home-made cakes and drinks downstairs. Indeed, downstairs where you eat and drink is in a fantastic 14th century vaulted ceiling room. The place is steeped in history which is very much in keeping with the whole of the Bailgate and Steephill area. We met both the owner and a friend/staff member both of whom were really pleasant and able to tell us much about the history of the setting. It was a cold December day when we visited but the temperature was fine down stairs as the walls are so thick. Indeed, we were told it is cool in the Summer and mild in the Winter - great for any time of the year.

Left here today without purchasing an ice cream, after being in a queue for 10 minutes which went outside the shop my sister in law and I entered the shop with my 4 year old nephew and my 2 year old son they were both extremely excited to see fhe fantastic variety of ice Cream they could chose from, as my sister in law took them to look at which they would like they became very excited and my son squeeled at which point the young lady serving told him to be quiet and queue up!! I was horrified with the way she spoke to him as he hadn't done anything wrong. Most people would be happy to see such excitement on young children ( which I think is to be expected in an ice Cream parlour) needless to say I did not wish to buy an ice cream from this lady after the incident and took the boys to a different parlour for an ice cream. I've used this ice cream parlour for years, since I was very young. Been so many times I couldn't wait to take my family, oh I wish I hadn't... I really hope the owner reads this as I was truly shocked. When a family of five orders ice creams, and they order the first one which you kindly stack on the counter, then we carry on ordering the other four, as the first one drips onto the counter here's a tip, don't blame me... Its an ice cream parlour for God's sake! After the formentioned ice cream dripped, the owner snapped at me to get it, when I did and it dripped again before handing it to my four year old, she turned, stormed, and moaned 'for God's sake' as loud as possible .... Honestly the worst customer service I've ever received. Lucky for the business the kids had been waiting for ice cream all day, otherwise you'd have been told to stuff it. Will NEVER visit again. But knowing the attitude I got today, I can hardly imagine the owner will be bothered.

We discovered this place on our first afternoon on a long weekend in the city. We then returned on the following two days, because there was just so much choice! Fabulous icecream!

We ordered a afternoon lunch selection for 25 people at our baby shower in Lincoln. The owner Dez could not do enough to meet our requests. He delivered a fantastic spread. The selection of sandwiches were delicious and he catered for everyone’s dietary needs. His homemade sausages and his scones with cream and strawberries went down a storm. They delivered to our venue, which took away all the added stress. Thanks again for delivering us a lovely spread on our special day. We will definitely use Margaret’s Tea Rooms a again.

A very friendly family run restaurant. A clear menu with genuine Italian food and specifically brilliant Italian ice-cream. Good value, we would go again
