Castle view Indian cuisine in Lincoln

Went here with my partner on valentines. Service was poor the staff spent lots of time chatting to each other by the stairs and not enough time attending to customers. We asked for a bag to take some of our food home and instead of bringing us the bag the server took the food that we wanted to take home and I watched her pick it up with her bare hands and put it into the bag (the whole palms of both of her hands were on my leftover naan bread), so those breads will be going in the bin and I am quite disgusted by this. Tongs should've been used, or she could've given me the bag and I could've put my own food away. She had just been clearing peoples plates and she didnt wash her hands between this and handling my food. When she gave us the bag she basically threw it on our table and it toppled over onto the dirty table, instead of handing it to us. Another thing to note is that I am British born but of indian heritage and I really noticed that me and partner were ignored a lot of the time, whereas caucasian customers were attended to quickly. I do feel there was some sort of bias in the way that we were treated and served. I also found the food quite bland and flavourless, not spicy at all, which was really disappointing. Ordered the fish pakora and it was basically plain battered fish goujons with no flavour or spice. Also ordered the tandoori deluxe which for some reason came with a vegetable curry and naan bread which is not mentioned anywhere on the menu. Disappointed with the selection of meat we were given in the tandoori deluxe. It seemed to be a selection of random bits of chicken, for example we had one drumstick, one bony breast piece. The menu doesn't mention that this contains bones. Some of the cuts of chicken were dark and tough and not very nice. We also only got two bits of lamb and it was supposed to come with chicken tikka but we didn't get any of this. The saag paneer and bombay aloo were bland and not spiced. The menu says the bombay aloo is medium spiced, it's not it's very mild. A lot of my friends had raved about this place and I came home thinking I could've cooked myself a better more flavoursome meal.

Great little restaurant in the uphill area of Lincoln easily the best Indian restaurant in the city. Nice service, food is great and good atmosphere.

Came as a recommended place to eat on a recent City break. Can't fault the whole experience, quality food, excellent service and reasonably priced.

A truly excellent Indian Restaurant. Last time we visited Lincoln, we ordered a takeaway. This time we elected to dine in. On both occasions, the food was excellent, served fairly quickly, piping hot, and delicious. Friendly helpful staff, reasonably priced given the location. Ww will definitely dine here again when next we visit Lincoln.

Poorly organised packed in the downstairs part whilst people ordered takeaways. They only got the table ready when I got to the counter so had to wait even longer. Hour and a half on the table then got chucked off it ( 7 people) they asked us if we wanted more drinks 10 minutes before removing us from the table. I heard good things about this place it did not live up to expectations. I cannot see me returning.

On Christmas Eve my family took me to Castle View for my birthday evening. The staff here were very polite and friendly and could not do enough to make our visit memorable. The food was amazing and we all enjoyed our meals. I thoroughly recommend Castle View and look forward to seeing you again soon. Thank you for making my birthday curry so special.

Great meal and a lovely evening 9 of us in a group. The upstairs dining area is really nice, beautifully lit Food was excellent as was the service and the bill very reasonable. Staff were great, friendly, efficient and helpful After the meal it was a 5 minute walk to the top of broadgate for the rest of the evening Great restaurant

Best Indian takeaway we've had on our travels. Ordered Butter chicken, chicken tikka chilli massala, mushroom rice and naan bread. Everything was delicious.

Says on Web page open until 11pm. Restaurant only open until 9.30pm when arrived . Doesn't say anything about this on Website. Very, very poor misleading information. Absolutely shocking woke service and doesnt deserve clients.

The best Indian restaurant in Lincoln. We are regular visitors to the Castle View simply because the food is consistently delicious. Booking in advance is a must it’s that popular.

Went on a Tues night had to book a table . Upstairs was packed out at 8pm . Was noisy from other diners air con wasn't on so was very warm inside even though it was 10deg outside. Ordered the chicken tandoori (was on a hotplate ) really nice. And then a chicken madras chips an plain naan. Again was really tasty . Food was hot . Madras had a kick to it rice was light n fluffy. Food very good

A great cosy restaurant tucked away next to Lincoln Castle. You can taste the fresh ingredients used in each dish and a good selection of dishes are available. The staff are helpful and friendly. Thoroughly recommended.

Fantastic as ever! Best Indian restaurant in the area and the standard never drops. The "Chef's Special" dishes in particular are amazing. Very tight for space and steep stairs, but it's definitely worth it. You'll need to book!

This is hands down the best Indian restaurant I’ve found. The food and service are outstanding. The dishes are incredibly tasty and fresh, with none of the excessive oiliness you sometimes find in other curry houses. The restaurant is busy for both dine-in and takeout, so it’s a good idea to book in advance or order your takeaway 30-40 minutes before you want to collect it. It’s well worth the wait. If there’s a rare delay, they’ll offer a complimentary drink while you wait. The prices are fantastic as well. Keep up the great work—I’ll definitely be back soon!

This restaurant imay not be big but it does deliver on good food, excellent service, at a reasonable price. Well worth the 20 minute drive to Lincoln. We will be returning very soon.

The food didn't taste good at all. I took my polish friend with me to make his taste Indian food but the food was super blans. No salt. It spoiled our day. Will never recommend this restaurant to any indians. The food is terribly bland! Waste of money. on explaining about the bad taste of Indian food to the staff, he kept denying us as if we were wrong. Went on this weekend and thought to have an experience of Indian cuisine. Ordered some recommended dishes from the menu and that was worth to remember. The food quality, the environment along with the service was really suitable for the experience.🥰

A rather quaint Indian restaurant, housed in a rustic building that one would not necessarily associate with an Indian eatery. The place was buzzing, and it felt a bit cramped and was quite loud. But the food was good, although I felt that the Tandoori Chicken I ordered for a starter was too large a piece.

Stayed in hotel nearby popped in on off chance, they managed to fit us in hadn't pre booked. Wife had Madras I had Bhuna both meals excellent, staff friendly and professional, prices seemed reasonable. Highly recommended

Have had wonderful food from here in the past but our birthday takeaway for 3 tonight was hot but flavourless. So disappointed. We all had different dishes, but they were all so disappointing. Stand-in chef maybe ??

We’ve eaten in and ordered take-out and the quality is unmatched! Best Indian food we’ve ever had. Will continue to come back for more. From the rice, to the naan, to various main dishes, everything is fresh and quality; we have been impressed and delighted every time.

My friend & I Annette, came here on a Friday evening. The staff are very friendly & helpful. The atmosphere is relaxing & calm. The food is absolutely amazing 🤩!!! We highly recommend! I enjoyed the Tandoori chicken on the bone (lots of delicious flavours!) and I chose the coconut 🥥 rice 🍚 which was really tasty too! We were very happy overall, & will definitely return! A big thank you to all the staff xx

My favourite Indian restaurant in the world. It's won lots of awards, and when you eat here it's easy to see why. Friendly staff and delicious food in a building nestled against an ancient castle.

Amazing food . Such pleasant staff.

Food great. But beers are poor, frustrating when it's so easy to buy good stuff at under £2 a bottle. Beers are bland smiths or rough Indian lager. Daft to let an otherwise excellent meal down this way.

Fantastic all round Indian restaurant, great value and atmosphere.

As an avid curry eater I know what I like and believe me this was one of the best curries I've had. Daft as it sounds the Naan bread was best we have had if I had to be picky I didn't missed not having a mint chocolate with the bill but thats just me. The service was fantastic and the staff were very pleasant. Normally come to Lincoln once a year and will definitely be booking again next year. Price is very reasonable and would say well worth a visit.

Picked up a takeaway from here whilst on a mega munch and boy did it satisfy my munchy cravings. Food was top quality, customer service was awesome and waiting room is beautiful. My little stoned self was amazed at the glass table with all the different types of knots in it, nice touch 👌 Would definitely recommend and would definitely visit again next time we are passing

Large range of good curry. Good sized helpings, too. We went earlyish with our two small children. The food was perfect because the kids can have milder curries or chips, naan, poppadums etc unlike in Thai restaurants.

Just collected a take away for the 1st time from here drove 20 minutes to get home the food was piping hot still and immense flavours genuinely the tastiest Indian meal we’ve eating from anywhere We’ve eaten once in the restaurant aswell which again delicious and full of flavours and the service was excellent Definitely recommend this amazing place

I have this as my top go to restaurant. The food is superb and served with a smile. The bare brick walls and pillars subdued lighting create an intimate effect without being claustrophobic.

Went for a meal with some friends. The takeaway for this restaurant is very busy. We arrived at 7.30pm and had to work our way through a very busy takeaway collection area. Could almost do with another entrance for the restaurant. The restaurant is on the first floor and you weren't crowded in the restaurant. The staff were very attentive and the dishes we had were very tasty. The food was reasonably priced. Would certainly go back. Advisable to book a table, like we did as it was busy.

The best Indian food you will ever have!

The best curry I’ve had in years. Until I visited this place, I had started to believe that all Indian restaurants were using the same sauces. Very good service too. A steep climb from the city centre to work up an appetite.

Booked a table for 19:30 but arrived a few minutes early at around 19:25 as when you book it says your table must be returned 1.5hrs after the booking so not wanting to rush we arrived with a few minutes to spare. When we arrived we were told the table would be ready in 5 minutes which was absolutely fine as we were early. Then after about 10 minutes the girl behind the counter informed us it would probably be about another 5 minutes. During this 5 minutes a group of 4 have arrived and been able to go straight to their table. Another 10 minutes passes and still nothing. We finally got shown to our table just before 8pm which I didn’t understand because when we got upstairs there were 2 tables free, 1 of which remained free for the duration of our visit and no one left whilst we were waiting. The food was ok, not the worst food I’ve ever had but certainly not the best. The chicken tikka masala sauce was more like a tomato sauce and I couldn’t really taste anything other than tomato’s, it had no real flavour. I was quite disappointed because I’ve heard such good things about this place and I was expecting more. That said, I will probably go back to give them a second chance as everyone has off days!

Very fine. Good indian starter. Shami and Sheek. Lamb Mudoori with Bombay Pototas, Kashmiri rice. Would, have to ask my friends if this is an actual meal or dish for the British. Resturant, good job. Baby Okra fingers, Stamford could just beat this. 2nd in fancy food. No packing food like salt or sugar to fill it out, hope not.

Some of the best food I’ve had in a long time, the lamb badam pasanda was absolutely amazing and the sweet chilli sauce made for a delicious drink. It’s also very fairly priced for its quality, and easy 10/10, definitely going again!

Amazingly poor customer service. After several weeks of unanswered emails, and unreturned messages, I finally got through to someone who called themselves the manager. I’ve been trying to find a venue to host regular dinner meetings for a group of business owners. I didn’t even get through my initial opening until they interrupted me, mumbled something incoherent, and hung up on me.

After so many years, still the best Indian restaurant in Lincoln. So generous with takeaway orders too.

Staff were very friendly, food was excellent

I've been here a couple of times before with work and the food and service has been excellent so I decided to book it for me and my partners 5 year anniversary. I booked the table for 8pm and we were both looking forward to it all week. Drove 25 minutes to get there and arrived early at 7.55pm. Got told that our table would be ready in 10 minutes which was absolutely fine and so we waited outside. Went back in at 8.10pm and were told that the table was just being made. Waited another 10 minutes until 8.20pm and the table still wasn't ready 20 minutes after our original booking time so we decided to give up and leave. Absolutely no communication or apology from the staff. During all of this time a big group of 30 people turned up and got shown straight to their table. Obviously the restaurant will make a lot more money from 30 people than they would have from myself and my partner, so clearly we were not as welcomed or valued. Ruined our anniversary and therefore I won't be going back.
