I contacted The Peak Hotel to make a booking for a group of 14, having had no luck when contacting other venues in Castleton. The very efficient young person who took my call was extremely helpful and was able to accommodate my request, following this up with a confirmatory email. When we arrived for our meal, on a Saturday in school holidays, the pub was extremely busy but we were made to feel very welcome by the friendly, efficient staff-mainly young people. This level of service continued throughout the meal and although the pub continued to be very busy, nothing was too much for them. Despite the fact that our preorders were a significant number of different dishes, all the meals arrived together so that no one was waiting. Everybody very much enjoyed their food and every member of the group commented on the delightful attitude of the staff. All of us would be very happy to return to The Peak Hotel. I thoroughly recommend following the request for a large group to send in preorders as this made every thing much easier for everybody.

Went to grab a drink after I got to Glossop with a friend. Happy to be told it was happy hour 5pm-7pm so cocktails for £5. Not a single one was bad but the highlight has to be the strawberry daiquiri, seriously good.

Food extremely overpriced for the amount, flavour and temperature of food (food was cold, expensive and extremely small portions) £12-18 for mains these do not include rice, chips or eggs fried rice these are an additional £6 and again extremely small portions for the amount of money you part with. Drinks both soft and alcoholic were expensive too. Service did not make up for it either. Service was rude, and you leave feeling hungry and out of pocket

We have just spent one night at this little gem of a find. Absolutely loved everything about our stay including walking the Millenium Walk Way at New Mills a couple of miles away (highly recommend). We stayed in room 1 which is situated outside or the pub which suited us perfectly. No lugging bags upstairs. We had Sunday roast in the evening after our day out in the Peaks . Pork was fabulous as was my partners roast beef. There was a good choice for breakfast and the coffee was perfect. Can't wait to come back and explore the area more.

Much to like and enjoy - excellent sauces, fresh spices, attentive staff. Light, tasty Nan, sides and chicken. But the lamb - cooked to the consistency of leather, and a real pity given the excllence of everything else. I hope management reads this in the spirit it's written. We'll be back, and I hope that next time I'll be able to order the lamb with more confidence.

Lovely location could be a fantastic place. But... Sticky tables Disinterested staff Cook walked through and his trainers were not just grubby but filthy. Decided not to eat here. Cups don’t fit in saucers well so lots of drips and spills.
