Unhelpful staff who couldn't have cared less whether they served you or not, this has happened several times and its when the Manager is not on duty! The serving of a pot of tea with tea leaves makes a too strong drink by the time you get to it, what a daft idea- what's wrong with tea bags, at least you can easily remove them. Stale expensive food and absolutely no help as to whether they are fresh in or not. The coffee is far too strong and staff have no idea how to serve it, i.e. they leave little or no room for the milk. All round very mediocre. Its only saving graces are a clean toilet, great location and plenty of seating. But I can get that in many other cafes with fresher food and a better pot of tea.

Popped in Saturday afternoon and found it all to be very average for some reason! Couldn’t put my finger on it but it felt like a Costa coffee mixed up with a wine bar ( must be the wood floor and chill out wing chairs 🤔) Not bad but ………

Brilliant place to sit and watch the world go by on the pedestrianised high street. Great coffee, lovely food and good service at a great price

Asked for an americano with a hot milk & a cappucino both regulars. Was asked whether we wanted medium or dark blend. Chose medium. Was charged £6.95 when the advertised price was £2.90 for the americano & £3.45 for the cappucino, by my maths that’s £6.35 ! When I asked why it was £6.95 was told that there is a 30p seasonal coffee charge ! First mention of this ! I think it is illegal to advertise a price then charge a different price. Maybe you need to advise people with a sign or at least explain when the coffee is ordered that there is a 30p surcharge as this represents a surcharge of approximately 10%. I will be contacting trading standards to ask their opinion. Would welcome a refund. Regards Simon

First visit, it was recommended to us as a good place, we weren’t disappointed, loved the interior, lots of selections of drinks and food, we stayed a good hour or so, would come back again, without hesitation

Decent coffee and cakes are alright. Personality from the people making the coffee could be better. Felt like they wanted to get closed up for the day.

Coffee #1 is a great place to go in Buxton for a coffee, cake, lunch, on your own, in a group... I go in most mornings for quiet and reflection before heading off into the day. I'm grateful for the space and warm environment in which I can do this. The atmosphere is great. It's like home from home. The staff are so lovely and friendly. And the coffee is great. I would recommend Coffee #1 to anyone living in or visiting Buxton.

I called in one day early, by chance and was met with a wonderfully friendly welcome from the lady behind the counter. She was genuinely interested in the people she served. The coffee was superb and the sausage bap really was great. The seating is really good and the ambience it very easy. The place gets very busy during the day, which is good to see, given the number of coffee shops in Buxton today. I will always visit this place again when I'm in the area, as it's so nice when people like this lady really do start your day off well, by being just genuinely friendly and not at all commercially fake, as is the case at pretty much all of the more common brands these days. Thank you!

Had a lovely cappuccino and ginger breadman here, both yummy. I have to say though that the reason I'm leaving a review is because the staff are great. I came in by myself with my cocker spaniel and they were so accommodating of us - they could see I had my hands full and were more than happy to bring everything over to the table for me, and brought Isla a little drink too. We'll definitely be back when we're in Buxton, thank you x

Very nice coffee shop and great quality beverages. Service at counter could be quicker. My only criticism is that no member of staff has the time or inclination to show you how to use their reward app on your phone.

Lovely coffee and cakes .. love the fact they have used pictures and text on the walls promoting Buxton. Critique.. service was slow , tables and floor not cleaned ... queue was backed up but this was down to too few staff on a busy day... Maybe on a less busy day would have hit 5 stars 🌟

We visited this coffee shop at lunchtime today as we wanted a light snack while visiting Buxton. When we arrived there was no one waiting at the counter to be served and there were two employees serving. We found some seats and while we were looking at what food was on offer another customer came in for two take away drinks. We let her go ahead of us while we were deciding what to order. The young lady took our order (two hot drinks and two toasted teacakes). The young man making the drinks spent an absolute age making the two take away drinks, opening sugar packets for them and stirring the cups, while he had a long conversation with the lady he was making them for. The young lady toasted our teacakes and they were both done before he even began making our drinks. As a consequence our teacakes were cold before we got our complete order. She did ask him to speed up as she realised our food would be ready before the drinks however his response was rude and unprofessional as he told her he was "chewing the fat" with the lady he was serving and would not be "rushed". This was unacceptable when there were other customers waiting. The teacakes, whilst generous in size were inadequately supplied with two small pats of butter that would scarcely cover even one side. We were glad there were toilet facilities in the cafe as we hadn't found any in the town. However the sign "Toilets" was incorrect as there was only one unisex toilet down the stairs and along a corridor.

The first time we have eaten here, although they have been our go to take away for many years, food as usual was excellent but it was so much better with great service and not having to wash the pots!

Zero Please do not eat here. Ordered a mixed shashlik and I received a plate of sizzling raw vegetables and four pieces of meat. The waiter looked puzzled when I said please replace my raw onions with cooked veg. Please go somewhere else for your curry.

A wonderful find as we travelled towards Buxton, having negotiated countless motorways from Leeds! We entered from an overcast and wet journey to the welcome of a blazing fire and the warm hospitality of High Peaks' staff. Tabitha and Izzy delivered two lovely dishes from their 'Favourites' Menu. Pub food, at its best: genenerous portions, piping hot and absolutely delicious. I had the Steak & Kidney Pie - with rich gravy and veg. My wife had the Mixied fish stew - the best she has tasted (and that includes those luxiurious dishes in SW France. Well done to the chefs and serving staff - you made our lunchtime memorabl eand deserve the the acolade you get in Alistair Sawday.
