We were visiting Buxton and stumbled on this cafe. The staff are welcoming and the food was fresh to order and great quality. We both had the fish and chips which was delicious. Definitely one to try if you are local or visiting Buxton.

We have seen this cafe always busy and wondered why. Finally went in and they have a great selection of items at good value prices. Well worth a visit, especially if you pick up the groupon deal.

Very tasty full English breakfast and tea. Afull English breakfast can be a tasteless gamble but I have to say it was one of the best I've ever had. Actually fried mushrooms and fried egg properly fried. plus tasty thick bread with butter. Excellent service and really friendly staff. Set us up al day for walking.

My husband and I go for breakfast here half a dozen times a year. It’s usually really lovely, however, it looks like things have changed. The service was fine, waiters friendly and fairly attentive. Our drinks were brought promptly and we both waited for our ‘hydro full breakfasts’. What a disappointment, both plates on arrival looked really awful. A total contrast to what we have had before, bacon inedible and black, eggs that were fried solid, baked beans slopped all over half the plate., burnt mushrooms………To be honest I was a bit speechless but I called a waiter back and he was really lovely apologised profusely was obviously embarrassed and offered to replace them immediately. We were both in a bit of a hurry so we picked over the over cooked offerings and accepted the 50% discount offered. We originally arrived at 11.00am, breakfast is served until 11.30 - it is blatantly obvious we had reheated left overs. Come on Hydro!! You have to be better than this, times are hard and people are being careful what they spend. Our bill was £13.50, would have been in excess of £21.00 if we had paid full price. Even the discounted cost was expensive considering I barely ate mine and my husband left his bacon , egg and black pudding. The competition on spring gardens is great, the Hydro used to be the best, I hope this review is the shock needed to improve what you serve the customers.

We booked a table here for 4 people for lunch explaining we were driving from Stockport (21 miles) and gave our full contact details. We also asked them to get in touch if there were any problems, and they assured us that they would. This gave them three days notice. When we arrived the restaurant was closed, apparently due to staff shortages. The least they could have done was let us know. We were disgusted. Obviously this place is not bothered how much they inconvenience their customers.

We had meal in this cafe but was very disappointed with the food, the steak and ale pie looked and tasted like it had come from Iceland down the street (with no taste of ale whatsoever, the chips and mushy peas were ok and all was served on a large plate in separate dishes which I presume was supposed to make it look like a trendy pub meal with a price to match of £11 ! The only positive was that the young staff were polite. Should definitely have read reviews before entering!!! Nothing more to add other than definitely won’t go there again.

Lovely place. Was seated straight away by a friendly girl. Great choice on the menu and I was even able to have a hot chocolate with oat milk. Food delicious and plentiful. Would definitely recommend.

The jacket potato was hard and almost inedible. The tuna was satisfactory but the salad was poor. The 'Chef Special' bowl of soup, apparently leek and potato, was tepid and tasted of cardboard. It was sprinkled with little brown bits which were clearly an afterthought, unpleasant and certainly not asked for by me. Also, it was less than half a 'bowl' of soup, and the man in the kitchen told the waitress to tell me that it was their standard 220 ml portion. Well a cup soup makes about 260 ml so I'll say no more except to to say that I don't pay over a fiver to have a tasteless soup measured in millilitres, and this information then shoved onto a young girl to deal with. My one star does to the serving staff who were nice and tried hard to do good job. I've dined all over the world but fortunately Buxton has a wide choice of eateries for our next visit there.

Staff not very attentive when we were waiting to order. Coffee overpriced and in small cups although it was a decent coffee. Sandwiches we ordered were disappointing, it was a cheese sandwich and the cheese just fell out of the bread and was somewhat tasteless. All rather overpriced.

We had a really tasty lunch of fish & chips, which are ALWAYS gluten free..!! Lots of GF, Vegan choices. Would highly recommend if, like me, you are Coeliac. Lovely staff.

Was travelling to Buxton alone with my dog and came across this dog friendly cafe - she was allowed to sit anywhere and there were other well behaved dogs in there too. Great menu - lots of variety and catering for all needs. There are light bites, meals, cakes, breakfasts, desserts (these sounded great). Friendly staff too. Tables and chairs thoroughly cleaned between diners.

Our first time here, very friendly staff and pleasant environment. Very dog friendly even has a menu for the dogs. Would definitely come again and highly recommend for a quick stop and a bite to eat.

This was our first meal out since lockdown and we were really impressed with this cafe . The staff were very friendly and welcoming and everything was ready for the new regulations that are now a way of life . We were taken to a freshly cleaned table and given throw away menus . Came across this place with my friend as we were looking for a good vegetarian cafe. It was perfect! Had their vegan fish and chips and they were great. Really friendly staff, nice relaxed atmosphere, a great option of food (so many vegan and vegetarian options) and really good value. I'll definitely be going back if I'm ever in Buxton again.

I took my old friend for a cup of tea. The place is spotlessly clean, and the waiting on staff were helpful and friendly.
