A wonderful find as we travelled towards Buxton, having negotiated countless motorways from Leeds! We entered from an overcast and wet journey to the welcome of a blazing fire and the warm hospitality of High Peaks' staff. Tabitha and Izzy delivered two lovely dishes from their 'Favourites' Menu. Pub food, at its best: genenerous portions, piping hot and absolutely delicious. I had the Steak & Kidney Pie - with rich gravy and veg. My wife had the Mixied fish stew - the best she has tasted (and that includes those luxiurious dishes in SW France. Well done to the chefs and serving staff - you made our lunchtime memorabl eand deserve the the acolade you get in Alistair Sawday.

Myself and my partner visited on a Saturday evening for dinner. First visit but definitely won't be our last. Lovely country pub with rooms. Nice atmosphere and friendly courteous staff. The food was amazing, starters of peri prawns and spicy cauliflower pakoras mains ribeye steak and fillet medallions. My partner also devoured the sticky toffee pudding. Thank you The Lamb Inn for a lovely evening. 😁

Four of us had a Saturday evening meal here. The food was absolutely delicious and the portions were not overfacing. Top notch quality. The pub was busy and had a great atmosphere whilst keeping its cozy corners and pub vibe. The service was excellent. Well done Lamb Inn.

Just back from a wonderful overnight stay at this very charming inn. We arrived in time for lunch and I can confirm that the BLT sandwich with chunky chips is delicious! In fact all the food at this establishment is superb. Our Lamb Henry for dinner was absolutely beautiful, so much meat! Breakfast was equally delicious and obviously top quality ingredients are always used. It was lovely to enjoy a later breakfast too at 9:30 as the bed was too comfy to leave! We stayed in room 2 which was beautiful, so cosy and comfortable, very much like a bedroom and not a hotel room. Excellent hospitality tray too with real coffee bags which made a great change for me as a coffee lover. The staff here were all a delight too, nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely return at a later date.

Stopped by for an evening meal and ordered the two 4oz fillet steaks with dauphinoise potatoes. Cooked to a medium rare perfection and very tasty washed down with a glass of red. Service was very good from the young ladies. Only minor points were the music was a bit on the loud side and there could have been a bit of veg with the plate. All in all, a great meal.

Lovely meal on Mother's Day, despite the restaurant being full our starters were served immediately. The bread was missing from the soup but this was soon rectified. The main course was delivered within ten minutes of us finishing the starter. The food was really nice and so were the desserts. We were there two hours. Gratuity was added to the bill which was a surprise, although we would have left a tip anyway. No real complaints at all, we'll definitely be back.

Lovely old fashioned country pub. Outside is very pretty and inside traditional with open fires , low ceilings and original features. Cosy. Arrived to a warm welcome from Charlotte, showed us to our room and returned to bar for a quick lunch. The tomato and basil soup was to die for. We asked if the menu was the same in the evening and was advised that a new menu would be available from 5.30 and we could view it on Facebook. Returned to our room which was spacious and modern. Large bed and shower room. High spec and at first view very happy. We took the time to view the new menu ready for our table at 7 pm. We couldn't use the kettle because the limescale was coated to the kettle and you wouldn't drink the water from it. The shower also showed high level of lime scale. Both of these were disappointing as this had clearly not been part of the normal cleaning of the room and lacked attention to detail. Our evening meal. The menu that we saw on Facebook was only half available on the evening which was disappointing as we had already decided what to order only to have to change it. We were advised that the Chef had been prepping the new menu all day but failed to deliver all options. This was disappointing. The duck was slightly over done although the flavours were excellent. No steamed vegetable were delivered and we had to ask for these but it was corrected promptly. My husband had the chicken supreme with crispy potatoes, but the crispy potatoes were a jacket potato and this needs to be rectified as it is misleading on the menu. After the meal the bill arrived promptly with a pre order requirement for breakfast. We were not aware that it was pre order and after we had just eaten our evening meal we felt it was not an appropriate time to order for breakfast. The bed was so so comfortable and a great sleep was had by both of us. Breakfast was okay, we had to ask for orange juice as this was not offered initially but a genuine mistake which was corrected. We decided not to eat there the second evening and used another local pub. As we didn't attend on the evening we did not pre order our breakfast. We actually found the next days breakfast much better than the previous day as cooked to order. All in all we have been to worse but we have also been to better, a few things needed to be looked at, but its a comfortable stay and the food is okay.

We stayed with bed and breakfast, and dined here over a long weekend in this lovely country pub. Short drives to Buxton and Bakewell this pub sits on it own on the road into Chinley. Overlooking the basin it has fantastic views from the ideally placed beer garden. Once inside you are met with an olde world look with an adequate bar area and separate dinning areas with snugs. The staff are very friendly and welcoming on arrival and soon showed us to our room. Awaiting us in the room was a very comfortable king sized bed and more than adequate room to hang your clothes and store your belongings. Complimentary tea and coffee facilities were excellent. A large en suite with walk in shower and free shower soaps. We dined here twice in the evening and were never disappointed with the quality and portion sizes. We had a Trio of pork which was excellent and a Chicken Supreme which was very tasty. Sunday we opted for two roast dinners, one beef and one turkey. Again the portions were sizeable and tasty. Breakfast choice was plentiful with cereals, juices, toast, jams and traditional full English that you chose your options for, or Smoked Salmon & Scrambled Eggs. Short of repeating myself again the breakfasts were tasty. Through the afternoon and evening a great selection of beers, wines, and spirits were available and all at reasonable prices. Overall 10/10 for our whole experience here. Hats off to all the team at The Lamb Inn. We will be back in the future.

Booked the restaurant in advance for family lunch in the oak room. It was for six adults and two young toddlers so when we booked we advised that we needed two high chairs. Arrived at the restaurant and we were shown to the room but the high chairs were not in the room so had to request them. It took about ten minutes for the “ toddler chairs “ to arrive as they had to be cleaned. Surely that should have been done in advance as we had booked them? There were lots of wine glasses on the table and we kindly requested that they be removed in order to have more space …..two glasses were removed and after about five minutes or so I had to remove the rest of the glasses and stick them on other furniture in the room as no one came to remove. I booked the Oak room as we wanted some privacy but felt we were neglected and the service was not up to the same standard as usual . I went to the bar a couple of times to order more drinks and request a dessert menu. It wasn’t busy and there were at least three girls ( waitresses) chatting at the bar. We requested a children’s menu a couple of weeks which was sent to us via text but included sausage and mash. No sausage and mash was available on the day? However, I have to say the food we had was delicious of a very high standard. We all enjoyed the food.

Visited on sat, booked a table for 5, we arrived early, the fire was welcoming and the lady at the bar was lovely, polite and professional, We had drinks in bar first then our food, I had the Lamb Henry, the Lamb was perfect and the gravy mash and veg were delicious, the onky thing i could say is, I could have eaten more mash (I am greedy though) My partner had the rib eye, with the garlic and mushroom sauce, the steak was cooked just how he asked and the sauce was delicious, Oh we had the pate starter too again full Of flavour The only thing I could say I didn’t like, and this is a pet hate, spraying tables with detergent around where people are eating, ( put spray on cloth in another room first. Overall, it was all a lovely few hours and we will definitely be returning and booking a room too, of which we were told are beautiful rooms.

We left feeling slightly disappointed tonight unfortunately. We ordered 4 main meals, 2 lamb henrys, and a pie dish and steak (had to opt for this as the dish my friend wanted was unavailable). I had to return my lamb henry as it was like warm. By the time I got it sorted the other 3 people had almost finished eating. It was much hotter thankfully & was OK, not as good as we had on our previous visit for some reason but still OK. We ordered deserts, 2 creme brulè, supposedly served with shortbread......we got 2 maryland choc chip cookies? I mentioned this & waitress said, oh yes we've run out of shortbread. I was looking forward to that bit, not cookies. My husband said his cheesecake was more like mousse, such a shame to feel disappointed this time. I did mention it when I was paying, no offer of a discount or drink on the house. We won't be rushing back soon.

Really nice pub and friendly staff. We turned up without a booking as we couldn't get through on the phone and they managed to fit us in. Good was really tasty. I had the trio of pork, which did leave me a big hungry still, could have done with some more veg with it for the price it cost, however maybe I am just greedy. Lovely place and was recommended numerous times in a guest book at the property we are staying at.

Really delicious Lamb Henry (with chips instead of mash), but sadly I can not recommend this place if you have a food allergy or dietary requirements. They are trying with GF options etc. but did not inspire confidence in their knowledge/competence or communication with kitchen. I ordered the burger with out cheese, as I am allergic to milk. The waitress who took the order was helpful but wasn't sure if the bun contained milk, she said she would check. The burger then arrived with cheese on. Had this not been visible milk, Id have eaten it trusting that my dairy free request had reached the chief & the chief knew what they were doing. Then when the second burger arrived, without cheese on, it also lacked the caramelised onions & side salad. When I asked if I could please have the salad, onions and some mayo they were apologetic but also surprised mayonnaise doesn't contain milk. They also said the onions were fried in butter (a pitty as it's unnecessary, and means vegans can't eat them either) I really can't explain the lack of salad - surely everyone knows salad doesn't contain milk?! After all this I felt like I was really going to annoy the staff if I double checked the bun milk possibility, so I just didn't eat the bun in case they had overlooked checking whether it had milk in. Disappointing, especially in comparison to the other two pubs in Chinley which have excelled in their helpful service & ability to cater to dietary requirements (though only had sorbet as a dairy free/vegan desert option). On the up side the lamb Inn did have a vegan treacle tart & ice cream available, despite having no vegan main course. Slightly bizar but great if you only want chips and desert I guess! That is assuming they are correct in saying its vegan - I just don't feel very confident to trust their allergen listings after that experience. For anyone without dietary requirements its delicious food and at least one friendly waitress.

Beautiful olde worlde inn with cosy real fires. Traditional decor and low beams. Larger inside than expected with tables secreted in lots of little nooks and crannies and this adds to an intimate dining experience. All tables laid out beautifully with sparkling clean crystal glassware and cutlery, not forgetting little candles and fresh roses. The menu is stunning with such diversity of dishes. The most difficult thing was choosing what to eat as all the suggestions were enticing! Pricing was more expensive than a pub but still reasonable for the excellent food we had. Bar prices quite steep £5.25 for a pint of real ale however, It was of excellent quality, clearly knowledgeable in cellar management! The staff were all very friendly and eager to please without being overbearing. Will definitely come again when in this part of the country in our motorhome. Thank you all at the Lamb Inn.

We were on holiday in the Peak District and visited The Lamb on 2 occasions at lunch to eat. We thoroughly enjoyed both visits - the pub had a lovely atmosphere with a roaring fire , friendly welcoming staff and a very interesting menu. Of particular mention were the Thai Spiced Vegetable and Coconut Soup as a special and then the Moroccan chicken tagine - both superb . We very much look forward to visiting again when we are back in the area next year.

My partner and I visited for my birthday and had an amazing experienced at The Lamb Inn. The staff were friendly and welcoming, we were seated quickly and our drinks came out soon after. The selection of ales was great for a local pub. Choosing food was tough as the whole menu looked amazing! We ended up having the ox cheeks (a special) and the mushrooms to start. The ox cheeks were especially incredible, as the meat was tender and the dropping sauce was decadent. We then had the duo of game and guinea fowl supreme for mains. Both were delicious, but the duck bon bon and puree on the supreme were the highlight. The portion sizes were so perfect that even after 2 courses and a drink, we had just enough space for a dessert. The creme brulee and sticky toffee pudding were generously sized and the perfect end to a great meal! We would highly recommend The Lamb if you're in the area. As we visited in October, it wasn't too busy, but I would definitely book if you're visiting during peak times, especially after 6pm.

I had the pleasure of dining at a wonderful restaurant, and I wanted to share my opinions. This restaurant provided a pleasant overall experience. First and foremost, the cuisine was outstanding. Each item I had was full of flavour and clearly prepared with care and attention to detail. The chef clearly took pride in their job, and the ingredients were of good quality. Every course, from appetisers to dessert, was a gourmet joy. The service was also excellent. The staff was attentive, the meal's timing was ideal, allowing us to savour each course without feeling rushed. An amazing place that I will recommend anytime.

I didnt eat as we were there for another reason , but my son had the roast beef Sunday lunch and demolished it. He said it was amazing and it looked it to. Back to the reason we were there. This lovely pub gave our son and his band mates the opportunity to play on their terrace. A new band made up of 12 to 14 year old teenagers. The Lamb Inn not only allowed them to entertain their guests when they have very little experience, but also paid them. A fantastic experience for them and great for them to get to play outside in a different atmosphere to gain further experience. I had never visited this pub before but will definitely be back. The staff are so lovely, the owners fantastic, the food must be great as the terrace was full of customers eating and everything looked mouth watering. Bonus - Dogs welcome

We ventured to Go Ape Buxton for the day and were looking for somewhere cosy serving proper "pub grub", locally sourced foods. The Lamb Inn ticked all those boxes on paper. I'm always skeptical of "pubs" that have vast menus. We found it very friendly,...

Overpriced, these are more like city centre prices and the food didn't really meet expectations on quality. Steak was cold. Had to be reheated. Not enough veg with Lamb Henry dish. Nice venue. Cutlery - dirty. Good. service. First and last visit.
