So I was walking about Bakewell and wanted something a bit different I was looking for a bite to eat that wasn’t a Bakewell tart and that was savoury and stumbled across pasties and puddings . So i ordered the steak and gravy pastie ! And when looking at the menu there was atleast handfull more pasties I wanted to try . The pasties were amazing real depth of flavour , soft braised Beef with that real crisp pastie pastry . The size for what your getting you can’t complain atall value for money in my eyes . The staff were brilliant with a quick service So if your ever in Bakewell give them a visit you won’t be disappointed For more food content follow me on socials @bigchefeats

Since their multi-million pound revamp, both the hotel and restaurants have gone from strength to strength. We had Sunday Lunch in the Gallery restaurant with friends, looking out at the snowy Derbyshire hills! Beautiful views all round. There are only four choices of starters, mains and puddings - but our beef and the salmon main courses were well-cooked and of very good quality. Many items are locally sourced too. Good and knowledgeable service too. While Gallery restaurant is more suited for adults, the lovely Terrace restaurant is more family-orientated and has a wider choice of food options. Easily ‘teamed’ with a pre-lunch visit either to Chatsworth House grounds or around the House itself in season. Go and enjoy.

Busy bank holiday weekend. Event happening at The Mill and the only place to get a coffee. Should have been better prepared surely ?? . 30 minute wait for 2 coffees. Only 1 member of staff making drinks . Long queue and wrong orders coming out constantly. Shambles !

Staying in Buxton for a few days and wanted a nice restaurant to eat in. We hadn’t booked but this wasn’t an issue. Friendly, pleasant staff, nice atmosphere, good menu and the restaurant was spotlessly clean. The meals were freshly cooked, lovely and hot and really tasty. Excellent value for money too, we would definitely recommend!

Had a scone and two coffees. Coffee was great. Scone “ok”. Paid over £12 for the 3 items. Not sure how much scone was as priced not displayed. Service was odd. We were ignored for 5 minutes while waiting to order at the counter. And when we finally were it wasn’t a welcoming experience - no “ hi /morning “ just a stare until we spoke to say what we wanted. But then the person who brought order over was absolutely lovely - commenting on the weather etc. Had a look at the lunch menu. Mushrooms on toast was £16. A piece of quiche and salad £19. At those prices - and with that indifferent service - we’ll stick to our tried and regularly tested Coleman’s Deli in the village for food.

Staying at the park arrived on Monday by the time we had got settled into our lodge decided to visit the foresters we had booked for New Year’s Eve but not the Monday when we turned up it looked like it was starting to get busy we asked if they could fit in a table for two they said if we where ready now they could well are we glad they did What can I say food and service was excellent battered fish the batter was light and crispy melted in your mouth superb my wife had the mushroom linguine with chicken and she couldn’t fault it Was it a one of oh no it wasn’t on New Year’s Eve I had the steak asked for rare and it was perfect my wife had the beef and Stilton pie which she said although was very rich in flavour it was wonderful and once again service was excellent Ten out of ten this is a hidden gem now thinking of coming back next year keep up the good work 👍

I called here whilst visiting Bakewell with my family. Staff were very attentive and helpful. The carvery was served by staff rather than help yourself. Choice of three meats were available. A good size portion was provided (although more roast potatoes would have been appreciated). Perfectly cooked and very tasty, would recommend

When paying our bill, I mentioned to the staff that the Chai lattes weren’t great. Before I’d even explained they appeared to know what the issue was. I explained that it was a) very bitter but more importantly b) would not combine with the milk no matter how much we stirred, and it was very grainy. I was unable to drink mine, but my mum persevered only to find (regardless of all the stirring) a thick sludge at the bottom of her cup. The staff said they’d noticed this themselves and they didn’t understand why it was happening and apologised profusely. One of the staff went to fetch what I can only assume was the owner whilst I offered to just pay the bill as I hadn’t raised it for a refund, it was merely feedback- although this was very nice of them to try. When the owner appeared, they informed I needed to stir it (groundbreaking suggestion), which I assured them we had done… vigorously but to no avail. I was then informed that it was a top-quality organic product without any of the things like sugar that ‘I’d be used to’ in it – not sure implying that your guests don’t understand quality is the most customer orientated approach, especially when you know nothing about them but hey ho – my background is over a decade in the food, beverage and hospitality industry just for awareness as well as chai latte being the only hot beverage I drink, so trust me I’ve spent years pursuing good quality chai lattes and this was not one. I will say I was offered a replacement drink but honestly wanted to leave and I didn’t fancy another mouth full of grit. The rest of the staff were lovely though and this is reason I haven’t given less stars.
