The best restaurants in England

My wife and I are regular visitors to Grasmere and make a point of visiting Lucia's every time. If you're not familiar with their set up, they have a tiny takeaway shop on the village green and a larger shop around the corner where they have a few stools in the window where you can have a coffee and cake while watching the world go by. Their coffee is probably the best in Grasmere and their bacon and egg foccacias are to die for. Oh, and the cakes aren't bad either 😋. Take your own cup and you get 20p off your drink 👍🏽.

We found this tea room using trip advisor after a delayed flight pick up at the airport. Fantastic service from the minute we stepped into the garden, the staff were friendly and helpful. Everything was freshly made. We chose the savoury tea, homemade cheese scones. Delicious 😊

Amazing food, amazing service and such chill vibes. Will definitely be back. New favourite place, worth a train ride. We weren't waiting long at all and coffee was great.

We visited for my husband’s birthday. Excellent food and service, a lovely atmosphere, and the Tuesday “buy one meal get one half price” offer also made it great value for money. They even sang happy birthday to my husband when they brought out dessert - overall a really good experience and we’ll definitely be back.

Visited as a family of 8, great service from Mac! Food is excellent, really nice relaxed environment! Had little ones with us and they were kept happy with colouring pages and crayons! Hope to return! Fab birthday meal

We ordered cupcakes from Jennie and Keith for our engagement party in Sheffield. They created us beautiful autumnal themed cupcakes that looked and tasted fantastic, and perfectly met our party theme. We had four different flavours (salted caramel, banoffee, coffee and vanilla), and they were also able to provide vegan and gluten-free options. The cupcakes were delicious and our guests loved them! We would definitely order from them again and recommend to others.

My husband and I went for a date night here and had a great time. We received a genuine and warm welcome, the food was incredible and the atmosphere was great. We will definitely be going back.

In a holiday cottage for a long weekend, ordered several meals and starters, delivery was very prompt and the meals were delicious.

The food is absolutely delicious here and Elsworth Kitchen has now become a regular place I visit when taking my father out for afternoon lunch. The service and atmosphere is excellent and the young waitress who has serviced us the last few times including today 12th of Aug needs recognising (didn’t catch her name sadly). She is attentive, professional and always a pleasure to have a conversation with. Just a shame you don’t open Sunday too!

Been here a few times and it always delivers on great service and great food, cooked right there in open area of the kitchen. I went for the Belly Pork with mustard Potatoes, veg and Black pudding an absolute delightful meal, the wife went for the Chicken Breast with a Salad and pasta which had a great yoghurt sauce again a lovely meal.

Cafe serving delicious fresh cooked food, excellent friendly service and lovely atmosphere with a log burger fire. Plenty of choice for hot drinks, breakfast and snacks.

Excellent high quality food from a wide ranging menu which was both delicious and well presented. The service was courteous and helpful in terms of choosing the most suitable dishes. The atmosphere and decor were particularly nice, as was the live music played on this Friday evening.

Second time having breakfast at The Pines for me, third for my mum and brother with whom I come on holiday to lovely Filey. I can see how the local older folk love this little cafe but you don't have to be old to appreciate its charm or indeed a good, reasonably priced English breakfast. Malcolm is a great host with his cheeky banter!

Fantastic breakfast, excellent catering for gluten free. High standards. Excellent customer service. Thank you. We'll be back.
