We got a great table in front of the kitchen. The chefs were calm coordinated and efficient. Plate after plate of food was delivered with care. The linguine with a curried mussel sauce was incredible and I could have had it as a main course instead of a starter. I also enjoyed the lamb special which has a huge perfectly cooked Yorkshire pudding. Well worth a visit.

Had the best Sunday roast I have had in many a year here today, the starters, mains, wine, service all amazing! I would 100% return! Great place and for the quality not overpriced at all like some comments have said! Quality ingredients! Get what you pay for!

We're lucky (and greedy) enough to eat some incredible restaurants across the UK and farther afield, and I would happily put Hearth alongside the very best. The restaurant strikes a great balance in terms of atmosphere, keeping things feeling relaxed whilst also maintaining an excellent standard of service. Cocktails downstairs with Wes were delicious, and we moved up to the dining room - simple and stylish, with an open kitchen. We went for the tasting menu, which was nothing short of superb. A miniature Yorkshire pudding filled with the softest beef, fried chicken, an exceptional 55 day aged steak - courses kept coming, and the quality of cooking was absolutely exceptional throughout. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this wonderful place, and can't wait to return.

I read the tripadvisor reviews and booked this special restaurant for our wedding anniversary. From the moment we arrived to the time we left (over 3 hours) we received the best service and the best food we have ever had before. We tried the special taster 7-course menu. Everyone at Hearth did their utmost to ensure we had an evening to remember. What a wonderful and delightful experience you have all created. We will undoubtedly return.

An article about Gareth Bartram revealed that Hearth is his favourite restaurant, so we thought we'd hop over the bridge and give it a try. My wife ordered the cod and I the veal ossobuco, both of which were spectacular. The sides we chose were potato and greens and these two also were stunning. Everything you'd expect to see in a high end restaurant is here - high quality ingredients used imaginatively, service of the highest standard (with a smile), a beautiful ambience with just the right level of 'buzz', Hearth has it all. It's always a pleasure to be seated within sight of the kitchen, to witness the care and attention to detail for each and every dish. Congratulations on the running of an excellent establishment, after one visit, it's a firm favourite of ours. PS. It's worth going for the bread from the in-house bakery alone, and it's so refreshing to see that no one adds a tip to the bill or 'makes a recommendation'. It feels good to tip voluntarily with zero 'pressure', so thanks for that.

Wow, I can completely see why this Restuarant has received a place in the Yorkshire100. Located in the city centre, opposite the Trinity Church, Hearth's is a beautifully quaint restaurant. Situated upstairs above its sister cafe, Hearth's has a rustic feel to it. Spacious, airy and light, this restaurant is has a sense of purity about it. The staff were friendly, personable and 5* especially as we were a rabble of 20 hungry individuals. We attended on a day where the city was gridlocked and ended up being 50 minutes late to our booking. The lunch kitchen usually finished at 2pm but due to circumstances they stayed open for us which was a lovely gesture and boy were we glad. You can choose from small plates or large plates. Have a nibble at each others dishes or keep to your own. The small portions were perfect sized. The menu changes everyday depending on produce as well as keeping some staple dishes. Each dish was full of flavour and incredibly tasty. Even thinking of them now makes my mouth water. Whilst yes, it is on the pricer side of a restaurant for 'Hull', it is worth every penny. And in all honesty an absolute bargain compared to places like London etc. Hearth also caters for Vegan and vegetarians. So if you fancy a nice coffee and cake downstairs or a romantic meal upstairs, Hearth is for you. They even do special nights where it is a round a 10 course set meal with accompanying wines to help enhance the food. Again, expensive but worth it and a wonderful experience to say the least. Highly recommended!

We had a brilliant experience at Hearth restaurant. The staff were friendly and attentive and the food was sublime. It was incredibly rich, but as we were celebrating it was exactly what we wanted. We had a mixture of small plates, large plates and sides - everything tasted fantastic and looked beautiful. We also had cocktails which were complex and well balanced (and you could taste that they actually had quality alcohol in!) Would definitely recommend a visit.

Son and daughter-in-law chose this restaurant for Mother’s Day lunch. Now I’m normally a bit cynical about special day meals like Mother’s Day or Valentine’s Day as the potential for disappointment is huge. Not so here. Huge portions of carefully prepared classic roast dinner. Every component was perfectly cooked. Great care taken at the pass. Very efficient and friendly front of house at both the bar and the table. Absolutely blown away by how good this restaurant is. Very highly recommended and certainly worth a special journey.

Fabulous evening meal! This was our first visit so a member of staff explained how the menu works and we shared fantastic starters and main courses and even squeezed in a rhubarb trifle to finish a fantastic meal! Not cheap but excellent quality.

Excellent meal, more than good value for money, nicely decorated and polite, friendly staff. We went for Sunday lunch and we settled for starter and main. Normally I would have considered pudding but the portions were so generous that by the time we finished eating our mains we had no room for anything else. We had hot smoked salmon with gnocchi and pate for starters; they were both excellent. For mains we had chicken and lamb, again top quality. The vegetables were really good with a special mention for the cauliflower cheese. We had some bread while we waited for the starters which were really good too. On the way out I wanted to stop at the bakery but they had just closed it. Next time.

A quick drink in Hull’s beautiful Trinity Square. A twist on the traditional Negroni, with Crème de Cacao & Mr Black Coffee Amaro. A sublime cocktail, worthy of a visit to Hull alone. I’ve eaten at this super restaurant (which must be heading towards Michelin recognition) several times, and used their attached bakery too, and this venue can only describe it as an absolute jewel in Hull’s scene. Hearth has a stunning setting in Trinity Square. A wonderful environment to enjoy breakfast or coffee, lunch or a delicious evening from their ever evolving menu.

WOW Sooooo nice we had a gorgeous invite to our friends 60th and found this utter gem!!! From arrival to end nothing could be faulted! I am so cross I didn't take photos, as the place is just beautiful! What's as nice are the amazing staff! So pleasant, so kind and so relaxed, nothing is too much trouble, yet they sit back and let you enjoy your visit. This was a huge party that Hearth had to cater for and we were upstairs in the most lovely room, it was all very personal and very relaxed. The food was beyond amazing! Everything we ate so different and I have to say the best roast I have ever tasted!!! Yorkshire puddings to the finest and just every vegetable unique and full of taste! We visited hearth today for brunch we were 4 plus very tiny tot. 3 of us had brunch menu one vegetarian in our party chose from the lunch menu of plates. Staff very welcoming and a tiny tot not an issue plenty of room for the pram we sat upstairs on a pre booked table you can take your chance but we pre booked The food was excellent brunch breakfast was not just your norm every item was very flavoursome. The small plates and sides chosen were delicious. Desserts were brilliant. We cannot wait to book an evening meal. So hearth was on on our list of places to eat for sometime! We came with another couple. We were taken to our table and the waiter explained the menu to us. We chose 3 small dishes to share which were all incredible tasted divine. We also got some complementary bread from the bakery downstairs. The mains we got off the specials we got a chateaubriand and a sirloin. The steak was delicious and came in bone marrow gravy. Sides we got the mashed potato not your normal mash this was unreal and the crispy greens which were also delightfull. We shared puddings so we could have a try of different things. Service was fantastic. The place is lovely and cosy upstairs. We will deffs be back can’t wait to go a Sunday to try a Sunday roast and visit the bakery for brunch and more delicious fresh bread!!

The best Sunday lunch ever. You can tell it's excellent chefs cooking your food. The front of house team are also special. Extremely relaxing and enjoyable experience.

We have visited Hearth for Sunday lunch and dinners throughout the week. The food is always excellent and the front of house are always lovely - relaxed, genuine and not pretentious. Some of the kitchen is open and essentially in the seating area, which I do enjoy - and it means you can genuinely thank some of the chefs too. We often bring the kids (2 and 5), particularly on Sundays, and the team are very happy to serve children's portions when appropriate/possible (which are honestly still huge). We wouldn't expect or want a children's menu as the kids would just want ours! Pricing is very good and we usually expect the bill to be higher than it is - particularly through the recent challenges with cost increases. With The Old House closing, we were so relieved that Hearth opened up and I think they are smashing it. It's also notable that they have welcomed other local chefs into their kitchen for special events - which I think shows their genuine interest in the local area. Ace.

Great food and nice atmosphere inside the restaurant. Some interesting dishes and nice bakery downstairs to stock up on fresh sourdough before you leave! Only small gripe is the wait time is quite long, so expect a bit of a wait, have a glass of wine and enjoy the experience

My wife and I have eaten from the brunch menu downstairs 😋 on many occasions so decided to try out the dinner menu upstairs in the main restaurant. We were not disappointed as every plate was food heaven complimented by exceptional service and a bottle of pink fizz 🍾 We decided to have 3 x small plates, 1 x large plate and 2 x sides all of which we shared our favourite being the small plate of scotch eggs which were exceptional! We were served with a small selection of sour breads at the start of the evening and they were just more food heaven 😋 Thank you and yes we will be returning 😊

Food is good and looks to be locally sourced but maybe could make more of this. Where is the meat farmed and who lands the fish for example. Service is good. Food is well presented although bigger plates would help the presentation maybe. I like the limited menu - always a good sign. Mark up on the booze is not excessive. The price point is high though for what you get. For example, 27 quid for cod loin is IMHO steep. I know times are hard for restaurant owners and chefs wanting to make a living but these prices seem rather extortionate to me. £55 a head for one bottle of wine and not top drawer grub is excessive for me.
