The best restaurants in England

We go here every year for our work do and friends nights out. I can't fault any of the staff. Friendly, attentive, funny....where does it end. Food, atmosphere...just the people are the best. I particularly love the Friendly hug on arrival because they know us soooo well. Just love this place and the peeps 😍

Eaten here a few times and it’s always been delicious. Highly recommend the beef massaman curry, it’s creamy and rich and perfect!

Christmas gathering. Lovely choices all served with a smile and tasting fabulous.

The food is delicious & the atmosphere of the place is lovely. The staff don’t seem super interested but maybe this has changed since my visit in mid November.

We have been twice in the past week! Lovely unspoilt pub serving good home cooking. Pie of the day great and crumble.

Myself and my partner went to this lovely fish restaurant on Saturday night. We tend to come here when we have a special occasion or treat ourselves to something a bit more luxurious. I did come on here to say how good the food was, the quality of the fish was excellent. I did not want to particularly enter into what was going on at one of the other tables, the one opposite the kitchen actually, but having read the last review which appears as quite reasonable, but it is not entirely correct, I do feel compelled to say something. Whilst we were eating there was a very noisy table and the other diners did comment that there was some shrieking and shouting which was interfering with the enjoyment of their meal.I know that people want to enjoy themselves and have a few drinks but it was too much; A member of staff did go over to the table to ask them to calm things a little, but the person who went over to them was not rude, nor did she shout. In the end the people were asked to leave, but not until they made it clear that they would not pay for any of their food, which they had thoroughly finished. Obviously it is Christmas and the people wanted to enjoy a drink, however I feel the restaurant has been unfairly judged and saw no rudeness on their part, this party were given every chance to calm down a little and the restaurant did not ask them to leave until they made it quite clear they would not pay. Just wanted wanted to say what I saw as I was sitting at a table whilst this was happening, shame really as its a lovely restaurant with great staff and great food, I suppose people see things differently and it is that time of year! But this is a nice restaurant and we have always enjoyed being there.

Nice looking and cosy inside on a chill ( cold) end of October day. #feels like 8° Checked beforehand and the web site says Dog Friendly! It’s not! You can sit outside in all weather on rotting wooden benches with your pooch if you want! No room inside anyway! Only stayed to finish drinks and left! If your only Dog Friendly outside you should say so.

Not a fancy place but the food is incredible and cheap!

An excellent oasis away from the general riff-raff that is Penzance. The menu is pricey, but worth it. Lovely cosy and intimate ambience, and the Romanian girl from Spain is utterly charming in her own staid and sassy way. The other staff are wonderfully bubbly and exuberant and know what they’re doing. Food-wise, I’d recommend the tiger prawns, as they are delightfully chewy and fresh and served piping-hot off a master skillet. I wouldn’t order a vegetarian dish, since chefs these days don’t like cooking vegetarian entrées. So a turf or surf dish would be an ideal choice. The cuisine is casual-gourmet with a nouveau inspiration, though the portions are more generous here than what you’d get at a nouveau venue. One to return to time and time again!

Came here at the weekend to celebrate my Dads 70th Birthday. The place was warm and cosy and inviting. We had a lovely table and the building its self is a real part of history. The service from the staff was fantastic they could not do enough for us they even gave my dad a birthday card which was a really nice touch and one that he appreciate. The food was very nice well presented and very tasty. We will come back again for sure, i would like to try a Sunday lunch next time.
