A group of us had called in here almost exactly a year before and had a great time just having a beer and watching the scenery. This time we had organised and in informal bowling competition and this venue was perfect for it. We got there early on a Saturday morning so had coffee and breakfast which was top quality and good value. I must make a point about how good the Service is here And we were looked after in a quick and friendly manner. I am a bowling novice but still had an absolutely wonderful time. At Points it was difficult to concentrate on the game as the scenery is so spectacular and other people I know are now going to visit as a result of a video I showed them. the green is extremely well kept and was challenging for me but still fabulous fun. The owners of the club had a chat with us and it is obvious they really care about you having a great time and have very thoughtful about their business indeed. A return visit won't be long off that's for sure.

A beautiful location by the reservoirs makes full use of the large windows at this location. Clean light and comfortable inside, real fire, some cosy seating and nicely spaced out tables and chairs for eating. Staff friendly enough and polite, didn't eat but stopped for coffee. I ordered a reasonably priced cappuccino. Proper espresso machine, not instant. So why the 3 stars? The coffee was awful. It was presented properly, chocolate dusting etc. But the coffee itself tasted old/stale. Was surprising and spoiled the moment somewhat... but the location is so beautiful. Sitting in those big windows seeing the storm whip up the reservoirs, I enjoyed the moment nonetheless.

First car park was rammed and hard work turning with all the other cars but what can you do that can’t be helped. It was so busy found it a little hectic. Found it over priced for what we ordered my toasties barely had cheese but mainly just huge onions which was too much for me really. We would go back for drinks but not food. We sat out as we had the dog infront of a door that said main entrance only instead of that one so we wouldn’t be in the way with the dog but everyone used the door anyway. Food came to the wrong table but that had just been marked down wrong when I told them where we was sat outside the door without a number. Chips was nice.

I was out for a walk yesterday and thought I would see about getting a drink here as it looked beautiful and I thought it would be nice to sit and have a drink with the view of the reservoir. I'm vegan, I asked the guy serving if they had any oat milk available, he said they did. I asked if the hot chocolate had milk in, he said it did. I said "ok, do you have anything else vegan to drink" he just kind of looked at me and said "no". Not "no, sorry" or any suggestion of something else I could drink. Maybe I should have thought of an alternative but I just felt really awkward and felt a bit stupid for asking so I left. I might seem like a whingy vegan stereotype here but I just thought he might have been a bit more accommodating? What about people who are lactose intolerant? Do they get the same response?

I have visited the place many times and the general standard of the food has been consistently poor. It's a shame because the views are great and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. If only they could up their game a bit. 10% more effort in the preparation would improve things 100%. Last visit I had a bacon, egg and sausage barm and it was nice to see the runny yolk but less nice to see the barm completely swimming in it. Why put it down on a napkin? Is it meant to soak up all the yolk? It's just a sticky mess that I don't want to cover my hands in. The bacon was a barely cooked floppy pink colour with the fat still snow white. Not pleasant. We also had a portion of chips which were average and 2 different slices of cake that were equally long on icing and short on moisture. We didn't finish any of it. I will still be a regular here for the cold drinks pit stops while walking around the reservoirs but I recently discovered the village green tea room just up the road that serves much better food in much bigger portions so I will be going there for food instead. If you just want a drink and a view then this is probably a good option. Edit: It was nice to see the owner of this business actually responding to my review but I feel I should just address a few comments. I didn't have a bit of yolk on my napkin, the whole of the bottom of the sandwich was swimming in egg yolk. There is a word for the way you tried to downplay it. "Gaslighting" . As far as failing businesses goes, the ones that succeed are the ones that care about the quality of their product and don't respond to criticism by blaming the customer. Unfortunately, since you have invited me to never visit again, this review will never change and judging from the attitude of the response I think I'm being pretty generous. As far as mentioning another tea room, it's in the public interest to know there is an alternative. I hope that readers of this review visit both establishments and make up their own minds.

Looks a nice place allthough didn't stay long enough to find out, after being agressively turned away by a half cut loud mouthed landlord who was topping up from the night before it seems. Despite some of us being on our way in to spend money in his pub, we were greeted by shouting from the bosses table across the green denying access for no reason. If you'd like to play it seems necessary to complete the rituals and show your respect in the correct order before being granted access to the empty green. Should you fail here, and his highness feel insulted, tempers and blood pressure will rise to as he struggles to comprehend the audacity of your actions. There's probably a good time to go. After the hare of the dog but before his third or fourth. Won't be returning to search for the sweet spot.

2nd visit, ordered coffee and a pastie. I can only say these where the smallest I have ever seen, also anemic. Decided to have cake as well as to fill the gap. The cake was very dry. The service, and the little extras such as cream with the cake, knives and forks on the table, clean tables and trays, would all make a big difference. Seems like they can't be bothered!. Best avoided we won't be calling again. ***** added 19th of August 23 having seen the owner has added a reply which i didn't see until now**** I stand by my rating and comments...there is nothing strange about this review, this was our experience. I updated the review a few weeks after as i remembered how bad it actually was..a joke really and Im entitled to add comments as i wish!!!. Cleary from the owners response they haven't a clue nor care to take any comments on board. Im not somebody that gives poor reviews unless its the truth. Which if you are wondering it means Oh Mamma what great value for money! My last review of this place was several years ago and I think it was 5 stars then. It’s not changed for me. We called in on an off chance at around 6pm on a Saturday evening. The place was busy and we didn’t hold much hope. Thankfully the lady front of house, I think she owns it and I remember her from last time we were there many years ago, kindly squeezed us in provided we were done in an hour. Perfect for us as we only wanted a quick bite. We ordered an Etna pizza and Ndjua pasta. I was DES so the mrs had a glass of house red and I stuck on the corporations pop. The food was awesome and service quick and polite full. What we didn’t realise was that we had snuck in on the pizza and pasta offer and the bill came to…………£20! You’d pay more eating at Maccas! Keep up the great work and don’t believe some of the recent reviews that get 1 star because they can’t split the bill for some grey army! But if people choose not to go then that’s fine by me. It’s a great local restaurant that won’t be as busy so we can enjoy it. Recommended.

We got a voucher for a 3 course meal for 2 with processco. When we arrived we were seated quickly, drinks order taken and menu provided. We were told about the extra supplements for 1 starter, 2 of the mains and 1 dessert! Drinks came quickly and we had barely touched them before being offered more. Eventually the order was taken. We ordered all three courses at once. It was very slow but the food was lovely. The goats cheese tart to start was delicious. We both had suppliment mains (steak and duck) but they were really nice and the sticky toffee pudding was out of this world. Somewhere that actually gives you enough toffee sauce! Amazing. We enjoyed it, with drinks (2 diets cokes and 2 alcholic) and the supplements it nearly doubled the cost of the voucher but we enjoyed it.

From the minute we walked in we were put at ease. We were offered two different areas of the restaurant a quiet one and a slightly rounder one where there were some bottomless brunch going on . Opted for the more atmospheric side and they picked us a perfect table . The evening we were served by Matthew, Max and Alesia. I’m a pretty fussy eater, but no matter what we asked for a little tweets here and there to the menu everything was done without a fuss. The food was lovely, and I can’t wait to go back. Our first visit and it won’t be our last. The manager was lovely also . We had gammon and carbonara with a garlic tomato and cheese bread to Start . All was perfect .
